Chou Chou

Originally written straight away after release, I have worn it dozens of times since then and this review is accurate. I will update this after few days since everyone knows that the scent doesn't perform in the right way straight away. Despite of that I want to tell something, I know there are many who are curious about this scent. I don't concentrate now on the feelings or scenes which come to my mind but the notes and how they perform instead. (Updated and my thoughts didn't change so much, I will write my latest thoughts in the end.) Citruses are only the opening notes. Actually I was a little bit afraid if the scent would be like citruses covered with all those base notes but luckily not. The scent is very sweet. There are not so many this sweet perfumes which I like: some which comes to my mind are Love Don't Be Shy | Kilian, Oud Satin Mood | Maison Francis Kurkdjian and Rose Rouge | Van Cleef & Arpels , Shalimar Millésime Iris | Guerlain and Sintra | Memo Paris . Because of Cotton Candy that aroma is familiar from Love Don't Be Shy but it's smelling in the air like that (I mean Cotton Candy note, not the scent itself) only for a fleeting moment. Just mentioning those because I don't like most of the sweet scents. Here Cotton Candy is first with Chocolate and Caramel and after that the scent start to develop into a little bit darker one (but only a little bit). Chocolate is clearly dark and it creates a great contrast into otherwise luminous scent. For me it would make sense if those three notes would be the middle notes. Next an aroma of Coffee step into the stage and it's not utterly rich and dark but like Chocolate coffee. Amber and woods give the deepness while Vanilla continues the sweet character which those earlier mentioned three delicious notes started. It's not smelling like clear Vanilla here, it's not creamy, not as a texture nor as a colour, it's a bit like sugared Vanilla because of Cotton Candy in the background. The note of Liquorice comes and goes, it's playing hide and seek. I was thinking that it will be more prominent after wearing the scent enough many times but (luckily) it's not. Obviously Musk will be one of the last notes which remains together with an adorably sweet aroma. But before that, delightfully it seems that Cotton Candy, Caramel and Chocolate start to be more prominent again and that actually save the whole perfume. I was already worried and sad if the best notes of this scent would have been only the guest stars but now I can't wait to wear this properly tomorrow. The overall feeling is that this is delicious and great for gourmand lovers and sweet tooth people. This is not too strong nor weak so that part seems to be perfect as well. And it seems that this will be a great addition into my little collection of utterly sweet scents. (Edit: bought the bottle and have been wearing the scent a lot.) I don't say anything yet about the longevity or sillage, nor give any points, it's a way too early for that. About the main accords I have to say that here is nothing spicy nor fruity (since the citruses don't last). EDIT: The longevity is amazing. I can smell it on my skin like on my clothes as well even the next day. Sillage is good. It's not a monster, it doesn't fill the room but it's great and people can smell it after you. It's clearly better than the sillage of many other perfumes from Pierre de Velay. EDIT: This is a great scent and somehow it smells better when sprayed from the bottle. I wanted to wear it so sparingly when I only had my sample and now when I don't need to be scared that it will run out, it performs more beautifully. This is a great scent. Chou Chou by Mr, Roja, This imo is one of the best Pierre de Velay's and one of the best gourmands on the current market. Its starts very sweet/citrussy and you immediatly get the chocolate and sugary coffee notes going forward with some nice floral rounding to it and a light vanilla base. Chou Chou is a full on gourmand frangrance, you get the vibe of sitting in a fancy café eating a expensive chocolate cake with a cup coffee on the side. Sounds as delicious as it smells. Amazing performance aswell wich makes this a absolute beast. This is absolutley a unisex fragrance (Men or Women's frangraces dont exist in my world lol) but i see a lot of votes of saying its more for females and i very much dissagree. Chou Chou is a 10/10 gourmand fragrance. Amazing perfumery but i expect no less from Roja

This smells nothing like my beloved Lost in Paris. In fact, this is not good at all and I highly recommend trying/sampling it because it’s not your mainstream gourmand. To me, what makes it awful is the presence of chocolate with jasmine. These two notes battle it out on my skin in the most nasty way and I am struggling 🤢 But I’m going to let it sit until the bitter end to see if this improves... Wish me luck 😑

Smells like a worse version of Tonka Sarapia. For a Roja, this is really bad. Like really really bad. I wouldn’t pay $100 for it. Super feminine and sour to me. 4/10.

Delicious! Better than Lost in Paris for me which has too much citrus in the opening. On me Chou Chou is a resinous woody dark chocolate. Deep, dark and not too sweet.
