Danger Pour Homme

I have to admit just from the note breakdown on here, had I looked at it beforehand I don't think I'd have been so keen to try this fragrance. The animalic qualities are not usually my favourite thing unless handled correctly and oh how they are in this fragrance. Just to note also that I'm not crazy about Roja Dove as a brand, the opulence and exclusivity (price basically!) detracts and makes people (me included) a little hostile towards the brand before I even begin. I think... yeah yeah the bottles are pretty nice but I bet those Swarovski crystals fall off the stopper and things like that. I have to admit having tried 5 Roja Dove fragrances they have all been superb! Really stunning! I can't get past that and so many people bashing them must be smelling something different to what I am? They are trans formative creations all be mildly derivative of other scents you may have smelled before but in my opinion elevated to a higher level. Please don't get me wrong, it kinda pains me to say it but I love Roja perfumes so far! So Danger specifically is a creamy, warm oriental fragrance which to me is not dangerous but inviting and welcoming almost beckoning you in. I'm not sure if it Roja's disclosure of his favourite ingredient Labdanum which has me so smitten for his creations? Super complex juice this opening with citrus fruits, rhubarb and warmer tones of spices. The main body is a tonka vanilla/amber, clove, subdued animal tones leather of oakmoss and castoreum. Forget the price... this fragrance is wonderful and even more complex than I've mentioned here, performance and sillage are good. I can't wait to try this again.

How could i compare Danger to Heritage or even worse,to Zino Davidoff??? That's crazy even for those who can't stand Roja.Let me say it out loud,i'm taking the risks to upset some people: Why don't we admit that we can't afford to pay? That we don't like it because it is expensive! I am not a rich girl,but all i had from Roja i treasured because i know it's the real deal.I have a small sample of Danger and i am yelling out loud that is like nothing i've smelled and i've had my fair share of perfumes and tested a lot more.Nobody asks for anyone to buy,but i need some truth and some reality facing,cause what Roja creates is good and natural even if we don't like it.The man said himself that he pays a great amount on quality ingredients and that's why he cannot sell cheap.I repeat,i like no more than 5 fragrances from his lines,but i know how to see and how to admit that what he creates is really great.Again i'm sorry for saying all i did but it got to me! Danger is sensual,the damn ambergris crawls under your skin,doesn't stink,doesn't break my olfactive senses,doesn't scream like a nuclear bomb.It is smooth like the best hermes birkin bag and makes the one who wears it feel amazing.Thank you!

A ray of sunlight gently resting on a field of lavender. This is the image that opens Danger Pour Homme. Probably the fragrance with the finest lavender note ever encountered: it honors its aromatic and metallic nuances, accompanied by a sparkling Amalfi lemon and cumin, so expertly balanced that it imparts a natural, elegant, and effortless animalic and spicy veil—almost as if it were an inherent characteristic of the lavender itself. From the complex floral and woody heart, the true stroke of genius of this fragrance gradually emerges over time: ambergris. An overdose of this “ocean’s gold” brings an incredible depth and three-dimensionality to the composition, while simultaneously imparting a brilliant effervescence reminiscent of champagne. Its subtle saline and animalic facets blend in perfect harmony with the more traditionally used woody-aromatic notes, resulting in a composition of extraordinary completeness and timeless elegance. A fragrance that makes me smile, regardless of what life offers me in the moment I wear it... and to me, that is what matters more than anything else. I am wearing Danger pour Homme EDP again today and really love it for its fresh spicy, aromatic, woody and animalic scent with hints of floral and powdery touches. The Ambergris note is particularly beautiful from the very beginning till the deep dry down and that ties all the other notes together to create a beautifully harmonious scent. It does remind me of Guerlain Heritage EDP but much richer and deeper, probably with the help of the Ambergris. To me, Guerlain Heritage EDP is an excellent fragrance and I think there is no reason to say that Danger pour Homme is boring or inferior to Heritage as it really is not. On my cooler than average skin, most fragrances do not have much projection and usually only those so call power bomb ones would have moderate sillage. However, Danger pour Homme, which is not really a power bomb, actually has quite heavy projection on my skin and it lasts well over 10 hours before turning to a skin scent. I paid around US$230 for my bottle on sale a few years back when it came in a 100ml size. It was only slightly more expensive than a 50ml bottle of Tom Ford Private Blend fragrance then and I would say it worth every penny of it.

This is a very manly, dark, yet fresh fragrance. It reminds me most of my Guerlain Parisian exclusive, "Arsen Lupin", with the dry and woods and violet. This is more complex, spicy and rounded. I don't see it like Heritage, which has a strong Pine basenote. The open you get some of the freshness of citrus, together with the cumin note, and bitter herbaceous tarragon. Nice earthy basenotes giving the depth: amber, galbanum, patchouli, woody notes. After the open I start getting a little of the florals, and fruity rubarb in the mid. It stays dark, bitter green and spicy throughout. It is more manly than say, Diagalev. It's mature, high quality all arounder... It could be an office fragrance or signature. It is richer and has more depth than Scandal Pour Homme. It is similar to Scandal in notes, except Danger has amber and leather. In the drydown it feels like an Oriental fragrance, the vanilla and labdanum , are mostly noticable. From the open to mid you get a fouger experience as with Scandal, then it grows darker and you get more of an Oriental towards the drydown. Rating: 8.75/10 God bless. John 3:16

I own the long discontinued eau de parfum version (I think all versions have just been discontinued too, which sucks). I wouldn't say that this is extremely similar to heritage, but the resemblance is undeniable. I get quite a few differences between the fragrances but one that stands out is the addition of cumin and tarragon, which gives this sweaty and slightly animalic edge to the scent profile that I enjoy a lot. Another noticeable difference is that danger does not have sandalwood, vanilla, and tonka in the base that heritage is well known for, instead, it focuses on patchouli, ambergris, and a small touch of castoreum, so the common base note they share is mostly just the patchouli. Overall I find the differences to be enough to justify getting a full bottle of danger, especially since heritage is easily one of my all time favorite fragrances, so its no surprise that I love and want to own danger as well.

Just to address the review below. I have several samples of Danger pour homme and actually tried Guerlain Heritage again today just to see how similar they are, and indeed they do share a distinctly similar character. However, Roja perfumes Danger is far far superior in terms of smell, the Guerlain is deep but simply doesn't have the depth or the magic of danger. It has less of the earthy patch and mossy dry down and more balance on the whole, with sweeter more refined top notes. The draw back is indeed the price, it's very expensive but that would almost be forgivable because it is lovely stuff but the performance is extremely poor and that's unforgivable really. In that case I can understand why Heritage would be a viable replacement for this but I think it's slightly unfair to suggest that Danger is an inferior copy.

UPDATED SHALIMAR I was in Bergdorf's today (NYC) and had the SA spray about 8 different Roja Dove fragrances on sample cards. Of the 8, I thought Danger was the most captivating, and had the SA spray the perfume version on one wrist, and the cologne version on the other. For several hours I kept sniffing both wrists wondering where I've smelled this beautiful fragrance before. Then it hit me. It smells similar to my favorite cousin's signature fragrance - Shalimar. I was puzzled. Why would this remind me of Shalimar? Then it all came together. Roja Dove worked for Guerlain. Shalimar is from the house of Guerlain. I'm not suggesting Roja stole the recipe! However, perhaps Roja was influenced in creating Danger. Both the perfume and cologne version are stunning. (Of course, perfume is stronger than the cologne version.)

Beautiful. Stunning, really. This is a nice masculine fragrance without leaning super oldschool or "punching you in the face" with masculinity. This is a classy masculine fragrance, not an 80's gymbag. Leans mature, but not TOO mature - I'm 39 and will absolutely wear this but find, for example, Guerlain Vetiver, to be a frumpy scent for older gents (while it is a fabulous reference for vetiver). Absolutely black tie appropriate, but wearable outside of formal occasions as well - you'll never get me into a suit short of a funeral, but I'll happily wear this for a cozy evening close to my wife, watching some true crime and anime or whatever. Doesn't feel cloying, even in warmer weather though I would probably not reach for this in the summer over something more refreshing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's heritage. Go away.

It is a very pleasant Fougere. Opens up with fresh citrusy lavender. Quickly dries down to lavender/patch/oak moss. There is a touch of woods and animalic in the background adding depth. Like I said, very pleasant classic Fougere DNA. Above average performance and average projection. Extremely versatile...fall, winter and spring (few less sprays and possibly summer). Here’s the rub...great Fougere’s are aplenty. I mean there are so many lavender based fougeres that are still great and classic. Furthermore, this does get you very close to Heritage. Last, the value is just not there for this...unless you are a die-hard Roja loyalists. Is this nice, certainly. I think you can find this DNA for far less. As always, get a sample and check it out yourself.

I own both Danger Parfum Pour Homme and Danger Parfum Cologne and I love them both. To answer the question as to how they are different, my quick thoughts are that the Parfum is deeper, stronger, more linear and consistent from top-mid-base, is longer-lasting, and seems slightly heavier on the cumin note (and obviously is more expensive) while the Parfum Cologne is fresher with a brighter lemon opening which then settles into a very similar dry-down as the Parfum with slightly less longevity (and again is less expensive). As such, the PC is likely more mass-appealing and versatile but for me, both have a place in my collection.

The most Classy Perfume of them all. Smells amazing and very high end, especially the perfume concentration. Top 3 Fragrance i own and it will be there for a long time. I also tested it against the 2 guerlains and nope not even close, even the smell in general is very diff, especially the weird dusty old opening from the guerlains, absolutly hated the opening from both heritages while the opening from danger is heavenly fresh powerful classy and very strong but where the magic happens is in the drydown, perfection at its finest. Creed thinks they do ambergris right but this one is on another level. Perfect 10/10 for me

I absolutely ADORE this fragrance!! I started with the cologne when I first sampled the cologne line and danger smelt at first old and outdated to me so I didn’t think about it then a tester popped up of it really cheap so I gave it another go I’m glad I did !!! I ended up falling in love with it so I got the parfum and wow hahah just wow. So far oh my niche fragrance journey this one so far is the one that I say if I only had to wear this for the rest of my life I’m cool with that! Anyways not really a review but all I can say is if you love the cologne don’t hesitate.... Buy 2

This is a masterpiece. It is what most traditional masculine fougere's should be benchmarked against. The blending is classic roja skill and luxury but the most prominent note is lavender. If you were planning on dressing casual, you will change your mind after you spray this on. It is expensive and the one weakness is it doesn't last so that double negative could be a deal breaker for many. But, all should try it to compare to their favourite masculine fougere's. Another that is close is Dusita's but that also isn't exactly cheap. Enjoy.

I have the Pure Parfum not the EdP and I'm not a fan of some Roja Dove's parfums (Aoud in ex.). But Danger Homme Parfum are tons of salty, musky, sweet NATURAL Ambregris (yes, natural ambregris) perfectly balanced with other tons of the best Haiti Vetiver. This wonder opens with the light of bergamot and warmed by soft woods and mountain flowers. A touch of rare natural Grasse-Jasmin gives a subdued suede tone. In this concentration and thanks to ambregris the sillage and longevity are huge. 10/10

Updated: This scent is a masterpiece. This is the THE BEST scent ever created. Heritage is just another decent scent. Not comparable. The most elegant and masculine scent there is. Projection is extremely good and this stuff lasts forever. I truly understand why Rojas are so expensive: quality. People that hate on this remind me of the jealous kid in the corner always bad mouthing the jocks, sorry. Not being able to afford a fragrance should not automatically incline anyone to hate on it.

Comparing this to Heritage is like comparing a £5 bottle of Bordeaux to a £25 bottle of Bordeaux. Yes they are very similar i.e. they are both Bordeaux, but that's where the similarity ends. Danger is pure joy from beginning to end, wonderful evocative and nuanced where as Heritage is much simpler with rough edges (in comparison). Danger is one of my favourite perfumes but I doubt I'd ever wear Heritage if I owned a bottle (even if I did not own Danger).
