Danger

First impression: Danger pour Femme Parfum is gorgeous. I bought it in Parfum (Extrait) concentration with the white crystal cap and got it specifically because it is advertised as having a classic/retro vibe. It does deliver on that. It somehow manages to feel casual and dressed up at the same time. Having experienced Nuwa, Ti Amo, Taif Aoud, and Diaghilev so far, I can say this shares a similar sense of quality and finish. It starts with fresh citrus sparkle, but finishes with an ethereal, plush and powdery dry down. It smells like a fine perfume a manager/executive wears while in the office or on her day off. I am so glad there are perfume houses making classically styled perfumes. I personally am a little tired of the super sweet floral/fruity/gourmand fragrances. Edit 1: now that I wore it the whole day, the longevity on my skin was about 6 hrs but lasted close to 12 as a skin scent. Longevity on my shirt is 12h and still going. Edit 2: I popped over to the mall and found a store that carries Samsara EDP but not the Extrait. I should probably compare to the Extrait, but I can already see they do smell similar. Samsara edp was slightly louder in the opening but disappeared in 4hrs from my skin. Danger Parfum opened more gently but was a presence throughout the day. I am quite pleased with my purchase because the discounted Roja extrait was less than what I see the Samsara extrait listed for online.

Of the two, VVCAM is the stronger, fuller and somehow fatally seductive, as it has Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Neroli and Gardenia in it. Danger is noticeably more refined, innocent, powdery and softer with Jasmine and Gardenia. In Dander, there is that subtle, elegant, tender Roja’s style sweetness from Peach and vanilla whereas the sweetness in VVCAM comes from Tuberose, Ylang-Ylang and Vanilla, being more intense and deeper, like the aroma of white flowers themselves. Both are intoxicating in their own way. "New Look 1947 | Dior" is so close to VVCAM, actually only the opening differs and New Look 1947 lasts longer and projects more. Regal citrusy powder 👑 Although Danger Parfum is marketed for women I find it better suited for my taste than Danger Pour Homme. There are very balance amount of freshness, powdery, warmth and hints of sweetness notes here where the Pour Homme is more leaning towards fougère category. Opening is very sparkling and bright from a blast of citrus. I like how it is always present until the drydown too. Wearing experience from powdery notes make me feel regal like a royalty 👑. The development is almost linear because all the notes are put together in perfection. In the background I can smell hints of abstract white floral that is very uplifting. This is a very special fragrance for me and I highly recommend everyone including men to try out because this is 100% unisex right in the middle. #vscentorientreview

Wonderful, citrusy, creamy floral with a touch of woods and a slightly soapy and sweet smidge to it... I am definitely reminded of Guerlain’s Samsara from my childhood when I smell Danger. There is also a certain Chanel-esque quality to it that reminds me a little bit of Bois des isles? Sort of? I don’t know... I love both the opening and the dry down of Danger as they are quite different from each other and I love it when perfumes take me on a “journey” throughout the day 😌 I would say that this performs well in any kind of weather but I’ll have to wait for the colder months to see (sniff) how it goes. All in all, I am very pleased with this beautiful and very nostalgic and timeless fragrance!💛💛💛

I have to agree about the strong similarity with Samsara. A strong citrus then ylang, gardenia and sandalwood opening. A regular powerhouse. There's a sort of fizziness that makes me think of sherbet which I don't get with Samsara. The gardenia is strong in Danger. It closes with creamy wood notes. Moderate silage and amazing longevity. A powerful, opulent fragrance that can all too easily wear you.

Its called Danger as it is to your pocketbook. There are shades of Samsara, but I will go on to say..if you found Samsara too harsh, scratchy this is much smoother and gentle. So if you liked the genre of Samsara with more floral..its going to work for you. Its more complex, as it should be for the price point. Sillage is good, not monstrous and lasts. I find it delightful and easy to wear.

very long lasting and madly great strong sillage just for once or twice spray, I feels like I bring a poison for everyone when I used this fragrance and I can feels like being a main character LOL 10/10 but it's little bit pricey so I can't spray on here and there or everywhere I want like another fragrance I had but it's truly worth with their quality

Authentic sandalwood! Get compliments easily! A powerful citrus opening is followed by ylang, gardenia, and sandalwood. a constant powerhouse Gardenia is dominant, and creamy wood notes are present in the finish. Medium silage and extraordinary longevity. A powerful, lavish scent that can all too easily wear you out. Very refined and classy. Must try!

Smooth ylang and citrus at the onset, translates to a powdery & sweet gardenia/rose/jasmine, all and a glorious sandalwood. Definite Samsara, granted at a much higher price tag. Lasts around 10 hrs with an arms length sillage, so worth it in that regard. Perfect all year round, but I think shines best in spring & autumn.

I got this as a gift and i was kinda afraid since the yellow color of the chart seems too much. Because I doubted if those strong flowers can go along with powdery well. But wow it was amazingly blended, smooth, and mind blowing!! Vintage? I would happily let it eat me out💛

Sure Danger is beautiful perfume with an opening which to me is fresh and citrusy with a charming jasmine/rose/and gardenia floral scent. Not particularly feminine to my nose despite that peachy, powdered vanilla texture as it settles but again there's something complex and classy here. A hint of clove tonka and sandalwood adding to the already warm slightly creamy background. It becomes what I would deem more feminine in the drydown but the transition is nice and despite where it ends up, I'd wear this! (Not often and perhaps not in public but I'd wear it!) Lasted very well on my skin with a soft projection and sillage trail. I'd have to try Samsara again to notice the comparison and I've no doubt it smells like quite a lot of feminine fare, it's down to the individual whether they see the added value in it. (If any?) I didn't think it was special instead just very nice.

Samsara was one of my first loves. Over the years I have owned, and still own, many different batches and vintages of all three concentrations. In my opinion, the comparisons to Samsara are overstated. I find that the orris and vanilla are very prominent in the base of Danger. Samsara is much more sandalwood-centric....not the glorious real sandalwood of the 1990s any more, but still currently enough about sandal to significantly differentiate it from Danger.

I was in a business trip and I tried it randomly and instantly purchased it as a gift for my wife. I extended my trip so I tried it on myself and wow. I get citrusy sweet ylang ylang with Santal in the background, longevity is easy 12 hrs on skin, projection is 6+ feet in the first 4 hours It was a compliments magnet, from both male/female coworkers & even strangers. Luckily I was discreet about this gift, so I bought my wife something else 😊

Roja Danger Parfum (2011) - Vintage Sandalwood - @rojadove does a take on Guerlain’s #samsaraguerlain and he does it well. In fact, I enjoy this over a vintage form of it. As he has no restrictions on how much retail price he wants to charge, Dove adds extracts that would make Wasser green with jealously. A goldue hue of Ylang Ylang, Gardenia, Violets has a backbone of high-quality sandalwood, tonka and vanilla. Extremely elegant and refined.

Perfection. Yes, it does smell like samsara, but it's lighter and more delicate; it doesn’t overwhelm as I used to feel while wearing (vintage) samsara. It ages and deepens on the skin beautifully. I have a hard time not using it daily since the price point is so prohibitive. If you can afford or find a decent discount (which will still be steep unfortunately), totally worth it.

Can echo what other reviewers have already noted; Danger is a smoother, more refined Samsara. If money were not an issue, I would own this bottle too.

True, a bit old fashioned, "grown woman's scent", but pleasant nonetheless. It has some nice floral/spicy/creamy/powdery /citrus nuances.

Samsara by Guerlain with a higher price tag.

As one who has an appreciation for a wide variety of fragrances and a skin chemistry that allows me to wear various types of scents this was disappointing. I appreciate Roja Dove’s artistry and the use of high quality ingredients in his perfumes however, this smells way too vintage on me. Lesson learned to not blind by such an expensive fragrance. I am selling my 1.7 oz bottle if anyone is interested.

Spicy white floral with a lot of accents. Something Poison Ivy would wear🌱. Better worn casual; adds a lot of flavor to your getup. Gonna make you seem like you’re trying too hard in non-casual environments.

For me, the original formulation of this scent was absolutely divine and I felt a million dollars wearing it. It was my signature fragrance for the Autumn/Winter period and had great longevity and silage which attracted many complements, from friends and strangers alike. However, the most recent bottle I purchased, smelt completely different, especially on the opening. I queried the difference with Roja Dove CS who, initially, advised me it needed time to macerate. However, on probing CS, I was eventually advised that, actually, the perfume had recently been reformulated. As such, I feel the perfume no longer resembles that of the original and I am so disappointed. Please bring back the original formulation or, for the sake of clarity, ensure that the fragrance notes listed are reflective of changes made.

Individual’s preference but I’m not into spicy perfumes and the base notes kill it for me . However , I have Scandal and tried six samples so far , it is such a classy , quality based perfume house .

I have an old bottle of this, from roughly 2012, so this review is for what I believe is the older formulation. I bought Danger shortly after first discovering Roja Dove - on ebay for not-very-expensive as it was a 30ml used bottle and in the early years before Roja had taken off as a brand. I had been to the Haute Parfumerie in Harrods just after it had opened and had met Roja there. I was the only one in the shop, so he scent-profiled me in a casual conversation and recommended Enslaved, which I promptly bought, and which is still my (second) favourite Roja perfume. Because I tended to douse myself in Enslaved and Amber (my actual favourite Roja) for years, Danger stayed in my cupboard, mostly overlooked, until recently when I brought it out for a whirl. Holy smokes - this is a jasmine bomb! The ylang ylang and vanilla are also very present, and I can detect sandalwood and iris root and gardenia, but jasmine is the real star here in what is a beautiful, delicate floral composition. The indoles of the jasmine have been polished away somewhat by the gardenia and ylang ylang into a less skanky but still very sexy feminine scent. As it evolves it gets spicier and the clove and sandalwood push the florals back a little, which is just as wonderful really and I can't stop burying my nose in my arm. (Update: 2 hours later, it's mostly gone. But it was an enjoyable 2 hours!) Bravo, Roja! I still prefer Enslaved. I miss Enslaved. But this is absolutely lovely and I'll be wearing more of it come spring.

The Women's version of Danger is the much better of the two as the awfully bore-a-million lavendar is thankfully replaced by different and very nice florals and some Ok fruits. But it's still very 'meh' and that's not forgivable at the prices Roja charges. Mandarin/lemony citrus, verbena and violets on sandalwoods and the essential earthy notes? Really Mr 'I think I can easily beat Mr Birley' Roja?? Well, this is better due to being more stronger and using some nice vanilla and tonka for sweetness but it really isn't raising any eyebrows at all. Pleasantly boring and much too common. My rating: 7/10. (but a 5/10 as long as it's above £250 for a bottle, ridiculous!!) Quality: 10/10.

I don't pick up the similarity to Samsara as I've read. This one goes through its citrus then floral and ends with an elegant and soft creamy composition. This one definately has to have time to develop to be appreciated. I started out with the extrait through a generous Bergdorf sample and loved how it was close to the skin. Then went with the EdP and this is the one I chose. There is only a slight difference between the two version but EdP seems to stay with me longer. Usually I get parfum over EdP but this was the exception.

Danger has a fresh citrusy opening, the citrus notes are joined by a custardy ylang-ylang note with sweet peach note similar to the one in Enigma and gardenia which feels more like jasmine. In the drydown, the ylang-ylang is paired with sandalwood and a sweet vanilla note. Overall, Danger is a beautiful florals-sandalwood-vanilla fragrance but it is undoubtedly similar to Guerlain Samsara.

Very good l, however, I think this smells even older fashioned than Samsara. And Samsara is, in fact, an older fragrance, 1989. This is more matronly and heavy. I think it’s the use of lemon verbena and gardenia together that give it almost a 50’s vibe. Samsara is heavy sandalwood, ylang and jasmine. It’s nice but I prefer Guerlain Samsara.

Yum yum yum yum yum. A list of all my favourite things, such a delicious blend, this is now on my wishlist ! Initial hit of citrus is uplifting and delightful, dries down into a sweet, spicy and orangey floral that I would die for.

I have both Samsara and Danger. I want to bite the skin where Danger is. They might have similar notes but they are completely different perfumes. The smell it's soft, gentle, elegant, quiet and very pleasing.

Quoting someome before me: "Samsara by Guerlain with a higher price tag", and adding: and way clumsier composition. Where Samsara gets the balance perfect, Mr. Dove muddles things up.

The opening is a citrusy ylang ylang, slightly powdery white flowers in the dry down has a slight woody - vanilla aroma. Elegant and classy. Longevity & Sillage are good!

Did the formula change with these new essence bottles? I see now we get 2.5oz of juice for the same 315 dls.

Reminded me of a refined Samsara edp with more quality. Will need to test for longer to review again.
