Elysium Pour Homme Parfum

Okay this stuff is insane. I know it's a bummer that more people can't afford it, but it does go on sale at like 220-240 fairly often in at least a couple of places, so it's not totally out of reach for the common dude. If you're the kind of practical person who isn't rich, and you're happy with just a handful of fragrances that you know you love and don't blow a lot of money on tons of others, you could have this stuff handy for special occasions, or just wear it daily and don't spray super heavily and you shouldn't lose a wink of sleep knowing you have probably the best chypre fragrance out there to fill that niche. To me, it smells identical to elysium cologne in its actual formula, the only differences in the experience coming from the very obvious increase in concentration. I will need to test it more, but to me it smells fairly linear throughout most of its drydown, and can be most simply described as an incredibly high quality, extremely citrus-forward and bright chypre (yes like aventus). It has plenty of complexity hidden in it, but in short, it smells like a million bucks and really exudes sophistication and self awareness in its very impressive balance and obviously premium grade ingredients. I will revisit this soon and expand, but for the lay person, if you have an interest in things like aventus or the club de nuit intense man line etc., you should go ahead and sample this. Buying this at a relative bargain and skipping the testing of an endless array of clone houses like I have may end up saving you money in the long run. AFTER BOUT A DAY: I've had the parfum cologne for a couple extra weeks, and I'd sampled it a few times in years past, but I had the feeling that this stuff has a familiar vibe outside the usual Aventus comparisons, and I just got it! It reminds me a lot of YSL L'homme, which is amazing. The combination of maybe apple and the floral parts may be what does it for me. The best way I can describe it is if you took L'Homme, brightened it way up with tart top-quality citrus, and just made everything fresher and higher quality so it smells less like it is going spoiled. Not to speak badly of L'homme, but I'm sure many of you know what I mean when a fragrance just smells more fresh in the ripe, freshly picked sense because of higher quality ingredients. This juice is just on another level. I can understand why it is so expensive. I might like this stuff a little extra because YSL L'homme is one of the first fragrances I bought when I really got into the hobby, so it has a special place in my memory, but I still think this follows in that DNA to some extent, and it is an exquisite take on a magnificent DNA. One more thing just cuz this stuff cost some coin and freshies like this can suck on some skin. Don't forget to try lotion or some kind of moisturizer in areas where you spray. It might help overall performance a lot.

Today I finally had the pleasure of testing out a select few products in the Roja line, and Elysium was one of them. To be quite honest, I am almost at a loss for words regarding this scent. It is, hands down, one of the highest quality scents that I have ever smelled. You can tell immediately that the ingredients used to make Elysium are second to none. The beginning notes, as mentioned by many before, are like a blast of citrus. Both my boyfriend and I picked up the grapefruit immediately, but the grapefruit is really rounded out by the lemon and galbanum so it does not come off as tart or sour. I can see why some people think the opening notes are similar to Aventus, however, this scent has a completely unique scent profile. It is not saccharine like Aventus is, but definitely has a bright, masculine sweetness. I do not think it resembles Blue de Chanel whatsoever. The next notes that were descernable (to my nose at least) were the apple, rose, and jasmine. However, the peppercorn seems to make these pop and really does add some depth and subtle spice to the heart. I cannot personally pick out the lily of the valley. In the base, the labdanum and ambergris really shine. I’d say the main player is the ambergris, though. The other scents in the base seem to compliment this duo, rather than take center stage themselves. Now that I’ve talked about my olfactory experience, I’d also like to revisit the quality. Firstly, when this is sprayed on the skin you can actually see small oil particles shimmering in the light, a clear indicator that this is parfum grade. Secondly, it is crystal clear that the oils themselves are top quality, but describing this is difficult. You can simply just tell they are better than others, but one must experience that themselves. All in all, I can honestly say that this is one of the best scents that I have ever come across. I know some people have said it has “mass appeal,” and hate on it for not being incredibly groundbreaking. However, I don’t expect my colognes to revolutionize the industry or possess some unique aspect that’s never been done before - I expect my colognes to smell GOOD. This scent is more than just good though, it is truly fantastic. I will be purchasing a full bottle, even at retail price, because this has become one of my top 2 favorites of all time.

Elysium turned out to be a less complex perfume than I thought. The perfume opens with a basket full of various citrus fruits. It is easier to detect the absent citrus notes, such as verbena and orange, in addition to a less intense existing green lime. Lemon, bergamot and especially an aromatic bitter grapefruit, are quite present, ensuring a very charming freshness. It's one of the best citrus openings I have ever experienced. The heart is floral and fruity and some sweetness is added to the blending. In my opinion, the middle notes serve more the purpose of making a connection between the front soldiers (the citrus notes) and the woodier rear troops. The bottom is quite complex, although not an example of strength and efficiency. Cedar and juniper blend well with the stronger ambergris. Some hints of benzoin, amber, leather and musk, create a base for a woody, balsamic and somewhat sweet and animalistic dry down. The fresh side of the fragrance top is stronger than the woody bottom, and the effect is achieved without any aggressive or synthetic facets. We are clearly in the presence of high-quality ingredients, guaranteeing a memory imprint of a very pleasant citrus fragrance - one of the best - but with a more common dry-down. Performance is above average for a fresh scent, but I would classify the scent globally as a "medium" performer with noble longevity for up to 8 to 9 hours, but with a more plebeian sillage of fewer than five feet, and a couple of hours projection (with three sprays on the back of my hand). In my closet, labelled as a citrus fragrance, I would store it near the "parking place" of Boucheron pour Homme. Are they similar? It is not really the case of having similar accords, but there is a certain "familiarity" between the two perfumes, with the more aggressive Boucheron and the softer and soothing Elysium. A commentary on its much-publicised resemblance to CreedAventus... I found no resemblance at all! Can it be considered a masterpiece? I would answer with an easy YES but always mention that the price tag is by far above its real value. My Opinion: One of the best Citrus scents available but for a price. Recommended? No! Do try it before you buy it if you want to risk paying such a high amount for a citrus fragrance. Music: Gladiator Soundtrack "Elysium"

It’s crisp, juicy, and so clean it could star in a soap commercial narrated by David Attenborough. Then it smooths into the heart like a silk pocket square. There’s a hint of fruity sweetness, herbaceous green notes, and a touch of vetiver and woods that says: “Yes, I moisturize. Yes, I invest in mutual funds.” It’s refined, breezy, and somehow both powerful and effortlessly relaxed. Elysium isn’t loud. It’s magnetic. You know those guys who walk in and people naturally gravitate toward them without knowing why? That’s Elysium. It doesn’t try—it just is. It’s the olfactory equivalent of a Range Rover parked perfectly within the lines. Let’s talk performance: Longevity? 6–8 hours depending on your skin and how much you spray. It’s more of a “sunset yacht party” than an “all-night rave,” but you’ll still be getting whiffs well into the evening. Projection? Moderate, classy. People will notice—but they’ll lean in to ask, not run away gasping. Mass Appeal? Through. The. Roof. Compliments rain from the heavens. Baristas, coworkers, your friend’s mom—it doesn’t matter. They all want to know what you’re wearing. Scent profile? Citrus-aromatic perfection with a clean, sophisticated base that smells like success and good decisions. Final Verdict: Longevity: 7.5/10 (a gentleman never overstays his welcome) Scent: 9.5/10 (peak fresh sophistication—top shelf only) Mass Appeal: 10/10 (if charm had a smell, this would be it) Projection: 8/10 (makes its presence known... then buys you dinner) Smells like: James Bond on holiday with Elon Musk’s credit score.

Ahhhh Elysium, Elysium, Elysium...I've enjoyed Elysium Parfum Cologne for the last few years and never had the urge to get Elysium Parfum. Well, I did. Here is my experience so far.... Elysium in general is an interesting one to me. It's so enlivening, charismatic, captivating and fresh, but oh so boring at the same time. I kick myself for saying that because it's in my top 5 fragrances that I enjoy wearing. It smells so damn good, but it's so damn....humdrum? I honestly don't get it, so don't ask! Quite frankly, I think it's because of the abundance of homogeneous impressions of other houses/brands that have that gives my olfactory receptors the same emotions over and over again. In todays world, it seems there's way too many fragrances that try to win the same category, thus creating a foolish amount of monotonous fragrances. Unfortunately, I think Elysium falls into this category of "popular" fragrances thus giving it a familiar DNA making this fragrance "typical." HOWEVER, the quality is, of course, on another level. I love it because I haven't smelled a juice assembled around fruits of this caliber. Sorry for the rambling, but now onto the Elysium Parfum edition....This Parfum edition is merely 95% of the Parfum Cologne edition based on smell alone. The Parfum Cologne is slightly more sour. The Parfum is slightly more woody. The resemblance is uncanny minus the 5%. I cannot comment on performance, but my question is, does that 5% alteration substantiate the near $200 price increase for HALF the juice?! Hmmmm, I don't know honestly. Regardless, I love the Elysium infrastructure. I wouldn't exactly say it's unique, but it's of admirable quality. The scent trail and dry down is also noteworthy and possibly the highlight of this fragrance.
