Enigma Pour Homme Parfum Cologne

It took me a while to really enjoy the fresh opening, as I do now. Someone wrote it's slightly bitter; True, but its what gives it character. Along with the lemon and bergamot, there is a bitter green vib; Maybe it's neroli, which can be bitter, ginger perhaps, lemon oil? Its similar to angelica, but not as bitter. I love how the richer, sweeter notes of benzoin, congac, and a spicy vanilla mingle with the fresh opening, and then dominate. Some freshness remains throughout. I heard Roja Dove on Fragmental channel with Chris say, the congac is a true distillation of the congac sludge from the bottom of the barrel. It's not overly boozy at all. The congac has a nice fruitiness, being made from grapes. The heliotrope flower also has a cherry tone. It took me longer than usual to get to know this fragrance, still more to discover; That's why I have decided to purchase Enigma Cologne. When it settles, it reminded me more of the Enigma extrait perfume. The strength of notes is switched around in the cologne. The main heart accord with the E cologne, is vanilla, heliotrope flower, and congac; supported by tobacco and benzoin. This mid heart accord is sexy in an understated way. The indolic floral touches, along with the masculine notes of woods, tobacco and congac, are very nice. Everything is subtle, well blended and complex. Towards the dry-down, the florals fade, and the tobacco come to the fore, reminding me most of the original. Very late dry-down is vanilla, congac, and benzoin. I thought I was getting a leather note. Since it's unlisted I didn't want to mention it; till I read Roja Dove's inspiration for this fragrance: He describes a mystery man, sitting in a gentleman's club... he goes on to say, "with the smells of wood and leather"... There is a sense of ambiguity (Enigma) about this, as the description here in fragrantica. There are some facinating fragrance accords struck, where the whole is more than the sum of it's parts. Its a subtle classy fragrance that's growing on me. It takes a while to get to know its subtleties. Its not going to wow you, like some beast mode fragrance. You have to dig and concentrate to find the goodness here. This is a solid frag, and close to the original, but lighter. It's not a light weight fragrance, just not as rich as original. I think I get the tobacco more with the cologne, but its still in an accord, so it doesn't stand out alone. I like how this is a complex fragrance, it evolves into nice distinct phases. And It's an all season frag, with good enough performance, and the price is not so extravagant as other Dove frags. PS: I watched some YouTube reviews from Carlos, Chris and Steve. I'm sorry I used to doubt your love for Enigma, you have convinced me of your genuine love for it. I would just disagree on the projection, where others have said it project great, I think it's soft. This projects well, but it's not loud. One more important difference between the new Enigma Cologne, and original. The Cologne is very modern feeling; Whereas Roja is known for his classic structure in many of his fragrances, the original Enigma has more of a classic vib to it, but still is very unique in a good way. This is my first review and I am new to learning about fragrances, so do take this with a heavy dose of salt. On the hunt for a signature scent, I picked up a bottle of Enigma Parfum Cologne. I drink excessive amounts of cola and it tickled me to read about a scent that so many compare to my drink of choice. This isn't what I expected a 'cola' scent to be. Rather than evoking the satisfaction of the first fizz from opening a cold can beading with condensation on a hot day, instead I was transported back to the pick'n'mix counter at the cinema from my childhood. It was the smell of the chewy cola bottle sweets. While that smell was more pleasant than it sounds, before long I was pleased to see it evolve to conjure up more satisfying images of a Coke Float as the vanilla became more apparent. Then as the scent dries the syrupy cola settles down further and the cognac, tobacco and spices join the vanilla and bergamot for a rich, deep and satisfying aroma. Of the 8 fragrances in my fledgling collection this is perhaps the most original, a title previously held by Layton. Enigma is a warm, rich, spicy, sweet and sour blend that shouldn't really work on a hot summer day but, perhaps due to the imagery it stirs up, I would be comfortable wearing it year round, although I understand why others might prefer not to. It is that imagery that has made it a strong contender for my signature scent going forward even if I suspect I won't receive the same compliments I do whilst wearing Layton or Reflection Man. What further helps this scent take its place among my favourites is the projection and longevity. Frustratingly my skin seems to destroy scents at alarming pace. For context Elysium and (more surprisingly) Herod vanish in no time, Dior Homme (2020) and MFK Gentle Fluidity Silver become skin scents rapidly that disappear by mid-day while Layton, TF Oud Wood and Reflection Man offer only marginal improvements on my skin but fortunately cling to my clothes to last through the day. Enigma is different, I used fewer sprays yet I can still feel it wrapped around me hours later.

Now I'm ready to give my full review. I haven't tried that many of Roja Dove's creations, but Enigma Parfum Cologne smells spectacular. It opens up with a very fizzy, yet a bit boozy bergamot (an awesome opening, tbh). Then, the florals start to come in the mids. I can't quite describe what kind of florals, but it is there and I can feel it. Lastly, the drydown. Good lord, the drydown of Enigma Parfum Cologne is just beautiful. The cognac, tobacco, vanilla, and benzoin here are blended wonderfully. I do get the boozy-vanilla-coke with a touch of cherry in the drydown, which is great. It is one of those fragrances that really have noticeable differences between each layer of the pyramid (top, mid, and base notes). It lasts for a very long time, with a very good projection. The whiffs I get from the sillage when I'm wearing this one is just awesome, even when I only use two or three sprays. It is beautifully blended, performs greatly, and I'd even wear it on a summer night (or even a summer day, as long as I go easy on the sprays). I don't know if I'm pushing it too far, but it is that amazing to me. You'll definitely get those compliments that you want and deserve. Something I'd love to tell you though: - It does not smell like Herod, like what some people have said. - It is so underrated. - I think it is the best out of every Roja's Parfum Cologne collection, Elysium is my second place. My rating: - Scent: 10/10 (probably my first ever 10/10 fragrance in terms of scent) - Longevity: 9.8/10 - Projection and Sillage: 9/10 - Versatility: 8.6/10 - Value: 8.5/10 (well, even though it's quite expensive, it's worth the money for me). - Uniqueness and Complexity: 9.8/10 (it is more complex than it is unique) - Overall: 9.3/10 Edit: just tried the Parfum version, and I really can't smell any difference between the two, other than the opening. The parfum cologne version is sharper, fresher, and more fizzy in the opening, but the parfum version is smoother and less fresh in the opening. I really love both!

All smells are deeply rooted to personal experience. A person who only smelled oranges and lemons in their life, will likely link any kind of citrus smell to either one of the two, depending on how sour the smell feels like. No matter whether it actually is a lemon, bergamot or mandarin smell. So, while many people link the scent of Enigma to some sort of Whisky and Cola mixture, which certainly is the worst kind of how to enjoy a decent Whisky, I can tell you that Enigma is pretty similar to the Whisky experience many of us (kind of snob) Whisky aficionados crave. Whenever I smell Enigma it progresses in a similar manner. First I am thinking “Ok, there is a distinct smell of smoked wood.”, like a smoked barrel used for storing Whisky. Then there is this sweetness. It is not the smell of Coca Cola, because that is unique in its own right. You may interpret it as the cheap store brand of Cola, but no... it is too good to be that cheap. It feels more expensive and too well-crafted to be that cheap. This “Cola vibe” also has some herbs to its sweetness. Is it Root Beer? Again, not that cheap... So what the hell is this doing to my nose? Is it really just Cola? NO! It is herbs, medicinal ones at that. It is sweet tobacco. It is flowery notes. It is sugar and malt. It even at times is earthy and spicy. A very luxurious natural sweetness wrapped in a smoked barrel. The possibility that if you take your time, you can actually differentiate between the about a dozen different notes, makes this one of the greatest perfumes to me. Yes, at first my mind goes to the “Whisky Cola Vibe” as well, because almost everyone grew up with that being their fist “cocktail”. But! On a closer look, this is so much more. An absolute masterpiece.

Roja Enigma captures wealth and really does convey richness in a bottle. Every time I spray this I feel confident and wealthy. It reminds me of luxury and class. Truly embodies qualities of a successful upper class man. The cognac note is extremely strong. It’s almost the only note you smell as it overpowers everything else. The mix of the cognac and bergamot makes it an extremely unique fragrance. I truly haven’t smelt anything like this ever. In the dry down there is a little tobacco but honestly if you’re buying enigma you’re buying it for that cognac note. Couple sprays of this and you fill the entire room. It truly does give a confident and wealthy aura. It also just lasts forever. I would wear this to very classy occasions, definitely made for the winter and fall seasons. It’s definitely not a scene you can wear everyday, it embodies a very strong masculine aura and can be used in few settings. That cognac note may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but definitely try it out and you may be surprised. The only thing is that it comes at a very high price point. However because of how different and powerful this scent is, i personally think it’s definitely worth its value. Okay this is my first review here on the site, and the reason is because of this specific perfume, its smell just like Coca Cola at first and I really love it even i am already addicted to the smell, I must say that during the first 2 hours the smell is at its peak, then it changes to smell a bit More soft and here comes the vanilla and benzoin with touches of cognac, four hours later you can notice the tobacco that blends with the vanilla which of course they smells the longest, also during all the longevity the coca cola vibe is felt, but from the start and every hour after its weakened. I get 12 hours of longevity (can still smell it on cloths for 2 days) and i get 2 hours of strong sillage that leaving a gorgeous scent trail and then creating a nice scent cloud around you which draws people in, anyone who says otherwise does not understand or having a nose problem or does not know how to spray perfume on himself. In general highly recommend buying for those who like sweet perfume with tobacco, must note that the boozy is almost imperceptible i guess its blended very well with all the other notes so you cant smell any boozy from the perfume. My favourite from the parfum cologne line and that isn't really a surprise. I love orientals and Enigma is on the unique side. When I first tested the opening I didn't know what to make of it. You've heard it a thousand times, it has that notorious coca-cola vibe. But after multiple wearings, I admit it's addictive. I've received magnificent positive compliments with Enigma, and consider it a stud in the fall/winter time. Very warm spicey, strong on the Benzoin and Cognac, with a faint smell of tobacco. It's so well crafted and blended it's difficult to pick notes up, but you get small nuances. In the dry down, it gets more creamy on my skin, so I believe the vanilla and sandalwood start to come alive through the life of the fragrance. I think I have to be in a certain mood to wear an oriental in this style because it's a unique one. Cuts through the cold no problem, and is awesome for a dressed-up event. Interested to see what the parfum concentration is like. Enigma by ROJA is a fragrance that spews a luxurious and successful person vibe. The mix of a boozy cognac note with strong vanilla and ginger makes this smell absolutely amazing and definitely a one to get for a guaranteed compliment-getter for the colder seasons. To describe this further, this smells like Angels Share by Killian if the cognac note was stronger, and instead of a cinnamon note, it is accompanied by ginger and vanilla. While some may say that this fragrance smells like medicine I would disagree and it is definitely worth the high price tag of around $350 at the ROJA store. The longevity of this fragrance is absolutely amazing and lasts for around 14-20 hours on my skin and slightly less on my clothes so you don't need to worry about its longevity as this is a unique Parfum Cologne. Its sillage is incredible as well and can leave an excellent trail when applied which can fill an entire room. Being a Parfum Cologne, this iteration of Enigma opens very bright and fresh with bergamot and jasmine among other florals. However this quickly settles and darker notes begin to creep forward, namely a dry tobacco, cognac and vanilla blended perfectly with benzoin of the highest quality to give the fragrance it’s signature ‘fizz’ Once this hits the dry down it is something truly magical - with the cognac, tobacco, vanilla and benzoin taking the lead creating the most beautiful warm spicy scent trail; these notes then float on a soft bed of sandalwood, ginger and ambergris. In terms of quality of ingredients and scent profile this shares a lot of similarities with the Parfum, however I find the Parfum Cologne to be brighter, more youthful and versatile - and obviously a lot more affordable. The performance is pretty good considering it’s bright and sparkly profile, and projects pretty well too. The quality here is incredible and the scent itself is a masterpiece - incredibly unique and a true modern classic.

I just got my bottle today and am experiencing it for the first time since taking a sample home from luckyscent last year. The opening is incredible but that cola smell doesn't last and turns into a vintage somewhat medicinal scent which is still good but probably not worth the asking price. I got it for 199, which is great. But maybe I should give it some time and come back to it. I will update on the performance and longevity soon. Longevity & Performance It lasts a solid 7 to 8 hours with 10 sprays and if you spray your shirt, it can last even longer. The sillage however is pretty soft and doesn't really push out more than 2 feet after the first 45 minutes. The one thing that makes this worth buying is its uniqueness. There is nothing else quite like it. It's sorta vintage but very unique smelling at the same time. Boozy cola scent. But it's not worth the asking price even with all this uniqueness. It should be half the price I got it for which is significantly below the average market price.

Has a Cola/Cream Soda Vibe everyone speaks about. Boozy, Vanillic, slightly Powdery, Woods & well blended Florals. Not sure if I would pay retail for this. I was able to get this on Cyber Monday for $210 with a free cheapie bottle as a gift...so just over $100 off and arrived from MaxAroma in 2 days with free FedEx expedited shipping. I have nothing in my huge collection that smells anything like this, so the uniqueness is definitely here. Longevity on my skin, which normally drinks up fragrances, is still going after 12 Hours and I didn't even spray that much. The quality is definitely there. Projection & Sillage is very noticeable for a few hours. The bottle is Luxe looking with an orange/reddish gradient with a gold, heavy cap. Box is basic but classy. Atomizer is very good and the cap stays in place for picking up.

This fragrance evokes a very specific memory for me: as a child, my family and I would visit Old Town San Diego. There was a gift shop where I would always get a root beer (a "real" one made with natural ingredients, rather than A&W or Barq's), and next door to that was a old-timey tobacconist's where they had a barrel filled with coins from the past/different countries. I used to love collecting coins and we would always go in there after getting the soft drink so I could look through that barrel. The combination of drinking that soda plus the smell of being in the cigar shop is exactly the feeling that I get when I smell this fragrance.

Absolutely lovely fragrance, effervescent cola-cinnamonan. I really like this, it smells like a cocktail you'd drink on a hot summers day. I owned the parfum for a while and couldn't really gel with it, too heavy and too potent for me - so I ended up swapping that for this and a few extras (given the price disparity) with a frag friend. He's happy, I'm happy. Not my favourite from Roja, but it's damn good all the same. I feel the price of this is more reflective of what you're getting whereas the parfum is vastly overpriced. I honestly prefer the cologne, it's easier to wear and I feel it's just more pleasant overall.

Tobacco; some say cigar I say English pipe. Booze. Vanilla. Faintly sweet. Notes say cognac but I say rum. It does a really good job of having vanilla without being icky sweet vanilla ice cream and cotton candy. Like I said above this comes off with the sweetness of a good sipping rum. Of the Roja's I've sampled this has definitely been the best of their samples and one of the best vanilla/tobacco combinations for men (I got a Inlé from Memo for my wife). Take that with a large grain of salt since I'm still new to this fragrance thing but I'm about 50-60 samples in and a few niche buys so I think my feet are wet.

i was under the impression that this would smell like cola before i smelled it or looked up the notes, upon first spray, i'm like woah! does this have cardamom? but so quickly i started getting rose, citrus and some leathery element, which idk where it was coming from. anyway, no cola in the first few hours the first time i wore it, fast forward hrs later i kept getting this beautiful whiffs, so intoxicating, there was nothing like it and i kind of started getting COCA COLA GUMMIES, EXACTLY. now i can't unsmell it, it last a long time and is not at all linear, give it a shot, so addictive.

Tobacco plus resins creates the loveliest cherry-tobacco accord that many multiple beloved fragrances use. This may be the subtlest and the most charming among them. Somehow this perfume projects quite strongly, and yet seems somehow quiet at the same time. There are notes of cola in this, and also cognac, and spices; floral notes are buried within it all, yet if you search for them, you'll find them. And the drydown is to die for. This fragrance has a big following, and it deserves it. An elegant (if expensive) masculine scent.

I'm in love with this one. Never tried the Parfum version before, but this one smells incredible, lasts for a very long time with a good projection, and I wouldn't mind using it in a summer day or night. The extra freshness/fizz in the opening is a very nice touch, and that drydown is breathtaking. I do get that cherry coke accord, especially when going through the mids, but in a good way. I think this one is my favourite, out of every Roja's Parfum Cologne collection.

Enigma by Roja Dove is nothing short of a masterpiece in my book. I am so glad this was my introduction to Roja Dove fragrances because it didn’t disappoint! What I get from it is a bright fizzy cherry coke with a warm boozy background. Its longevity really surprised me for a Parfum Cologne concentration. I got 8 hours off my skin with moderate sillage the first couple of hours. If you’re looking for anything warm that smells of luxury, look no further than Enigma!

From the opening, I get the cherry Coke, Dr. Pepper and tobacco vibes. Fizzy coke and cognac. Love it. Found it on FragranceUSA for $190 and couldn't pass that up. It projects off the skin strongly for about 7-8 hrs then dries down but the silage is where this scent shines. A good breeze catches this and man, so great. Better in the cooler weather I'm thinking and definitely leans masculine. Coke and Yac in a fragrance, what's not to like.

SO NICE! Top 5 all time fragrances without a doubt. And it lasts a long time. Great opening... smells SLIGHTLY more youthful than the pour homme version. I thought this would be a cheaper and slightly worse version of the pour homme enigma, but it's not that at all. Longevity is amazing, smell is very similar but more lively and fun sort of while still being mature. Even if they were the same price, I prefer this parfum cologne version

At first, this was very disappointing to me. The smell of cola/propolis and some flowery notes... not very pleasant. But as it dries down, it becomes amazing. Dark, sweet, boozy, and a bit smokey. It's just addicting. The dry-down is a perfect 10/10. It works best in the winter and fall, but you can pull it off in the spring nights. The performance is also amazing, very long-lasting, and projects like crazy.

Okay now for all of you who think this has cola vibes, lemme tell you something... Yes it does!!! But only initially when you spray it, give it 5-10 minutes and the real magic starts. This has beautiful vanilla tobacco combo, its not sweet like TF TV and that's what beautiful about it. Performance was very nice, it stayed with me throughout the office time and even when I returned home I got to smell it.

I just put this as my signature for Springtime. It's very rich and beautiful, fresh enough for warmer Spring days. Lots of cognac, florals and fresh spices. It's long lasting EDP, that's not inferior to the stronger 50 ml Enigma. It's just more fresh, and quite similar. It's not exactly a warm weather freshy. It is sweet and still somewhat heavy. Just a little fresher than original Enigma.

This smells straight up like coca cola and cherry, the opening is a bit more like the scent of makeup but it then calms down and you get the cherry and coke vibe, its really very wearable, i cant get along with gourmand scents but this one i was able to wear and enjoy very much, it doesn't really last on me so im glad i got a decant, but its a very addictive scent just like coca cola 7/10

What a beautiful and fun scent. It’s starts off as a fizzy cola scent that’s fun and exciting and then within 5 minutes or so becomes a gorgeous spicy vanilla tobacco cognac scent. This is very well done and just a very easy scent to like and wear I have found. While the price is somewhat prohibitive for some,they do offer smaller travel sizes or even samples and it’s well worth trying.

This is one of my favorite fragrances. The opening is fantastic, fresh bergamot and ginger mixes with warm vanilla, cognac and floral notes which help balance everything beautifully. This fragrance has an effervescent quality which gives it a high class vibe in my opinion. It’s delicate and masterfully blended. The dry down changes into a soothing warm amber. This is a 10/10 amber.

Man, I keep thinking about this perfume. I twice had decants of it, and while its not the most mindblowing scent in the world, there is something about that juxtaposition of cola and tobacco that gives off a mature and masculine vibe that I really dig. I may need to get a full bottle when I can afford it, or better yet, Roja Dove, if you are reading this, please send me a bottle!

When I first smelled this I thought "why would I spend so much on a fragrance that smells like Coca Cola?", but the more I've sampled it the more depth it shows. The opening is fizzy and cola like, but it develops quite quickly into a warm, uplifting boozy vanilla. Gorgeous scent, I plan on getting a full bottle as the weather gets colder. 9/10

The first 5 min is kind of ruff! Then the magic happens! Coca cola, spices and vanilla! After 2-3 hours, Drydown is like a spicy/creamy vanilla! Yeah the opening is a little mature, but after 30 min is will say 25 and up. Love this stuff. This is a fragrances that stay on skin, but i think its gone and then I fully smell it in the morning.

Once this fragrance clicks with you.. if it ever does you won't want to be without a bottle ever again, absolutely incredible addictive fizzy ginger and benzoin bomb , lots of little nuances like vanilla and jasmine keep you entertained for hours and hours, after 10ml of use I became addicted to it and so too my partner ..masterpiece

LOVE LOVE this. I agree with the reviews that smell the cola vibe (gives a fizzy feel), but I love that, and it dries down into a classy cognac/vanilla note. Different to any other cologne I've smelt, gets lots of complements, and people curious what I'm wearing. Expensive, but for me, worth it.

Amazing scent, absolutely stunning. Smells like Jaegermeister mixed w Coca-Cola in the nicest smelling way possible. Sometimes it comes off like a burnt rubber, but for some reason I don’t mind it one bit. A great gateway fragrance to the niche world on every aspect.... except the price point.

While some people try to make things up as to why people like the smell of this fragrance, I will say you do want to smell like this, it’s a great scent and it draws compliments, one of my most complimented scents, just because you do not like a scent doesn’t mean other people dont.

fizzy cola. I'd wear this even in high heat due to its effervescent and airy nature. all 4 seasons, day or night. no problem. i am not exaggerating the versatility. it is quite the jack. longevity is good for about 8 hours +/-1, but still does not come close to Arabic level.

I love this fragrance. It's one of my favorites. I put a single spray on my throat and one on each wrist last night before going out to listen to jazz. I just got a whiff of it this morning. This is eternal on my skin.

TF vert encens with cola cubes and heliotrope. Hangs around beautifully and never gets tiring. Almost edible like a marzipan confectioners shop but something boozy brings it back to masculine. I can find no fault.

Beautiful boozy winter/fall fragrance. Another beautifully done fragrance from the house of roja dove. Boozy, tobacco, creamy vanilla, slight rose. Love this for the colder months! (Sold as creation-e in the US)

I love the EDP version, but really love this one too. It’s marketed as a cologne, but it is definitely stronger than a normal “cologne” fragrance. Still pricey, but I got a deal at a discounter. I love it.

This smells luxurious. Boozy, sweet and fizzy. I get the cherry coca cola vibe for sure. One of my favorite boozy scents. Nothing more can be said about this, it's a fine creation-e 😉 by Roja. 10/10

I sold my enigma parfum edition after trying the parfum cologne edition. The parfum cologne is much more sparkly cola cognac vibe in the opening, great performance and much cheaper. 14-JAN-2024

I am in love with this one. On my skin, the amber and wood and spice jump out with very masculine florals. The vanilla lingers for hours. (Note: it's called Creation E in North America.)

Effervescent, boozy and spicy coca-cola. Im getting loads of cinnamon (even though it has no cinnamon listed?) Above average projection, very long lasting. Doesn't smell old to me.

I see a lot of negative reviews. All I will say is damn near every time I wore this fragrance I have received a compliment. So try it for yourself. It is a masterpiece to me.

This is something that needs to grow on you. You might not like it initially when smelling it for the first time, but after using it for a while, you can’t live without it!

A boozy cola opening. Dries down to a floral with some tobacco. Cognac and ginger are prevalent in the dry down. Drydown is faint but extremely pleasant.

I love this! It totally has a cola-like scent, which I wouldn't think I would like, but I really do. I find this to be very unisex. Brilliant!

Reviewer below me, you better check if your bottle is legit lol. The Coca Cola vibe is real and this fragrance last 10+ hours on my skin.
