H Aoud

Diversity in Harmony🌈 Today I want to share a very special fragrance that harvest the richness of natural ingredients the mother earth has provide for the civilization. ROJA H Aoud is a very pungent fume that mixes variety of richest smelling herbs, precious flower, exotic resin and rare woods. A very complex yet linear olfactory experience that is hard to explain and best experienced to be fully understand. Like a grand orchestra composed by many musical instruments, all notes are boldly coming all together yet the delivery is ultra smooth and so harmoniously done. Gurjum balsam and nutmeg that is slightly spicy and woody, earthy aromatic cypriol oil, herbal smell of valerian, pungent earthy tone of oregano that is slightly similar with thymes, dances together with rose, jasmine, and geranium deliver a very rich aspect of fresh and warmth, sweet and earthy bitter tone, uplifting and comforting state at the same time. The patchouli is very dominant here blended with the creamy texture and nuttiness from the oud creates an addicting effects similar to what we get from a gourmand fragrance. The oud has a bit barnyard undertones that add complexity for a fragrance connoisseur to enjoy it even more. This is a masterpiece that celebrate multicultural diversity. It's like a union marrying ultra luxurious French and Middle Eastern perfumery at the same time. Truly one of a kind olfactory I've ever experience that wears beautifully in colder weather. I can see resemblance to both Majestic Aoud and Promise. It is sweeter than Majestic Aoud and compared to promise this is much more refined and has patchouli instead of green apple, you can clearly feel the classic Roja oud in H Aoud. H Aoud is very pleasant for me, however I do not believe most people would love it. The quality is real and I adore the fact that the oud is so smooth. I think this is cozy but others.... probably not. It definietly has a green touch with some sweetness underneath, which I am unable to pinpoint exactly This is for all you patchouli & oud lovers.

This is absolutely phenomenal. A true gem from the Roja collection and unfortunately discontinued. H the exclusive Aoud is a green leaning oudy/cypriol perfume. It is similar in the oud characteristic to majestic, but rather than musky animalics it has green patchoulli to accompany the oud. This is deep and rich, albeit rather linear. Performance is very good. All in all, this is a wonderful perfume and I wish it were not discontinued. I would place this in my top 10 of all time.

It smells so good that I m considering to buy a full bottle. It is woody and smoky with a hint of dark Roses. Not at all similar to Lyric Men bit it does remind me a bit about jubilation men. Really nice and unique. I wish it had bit better projection though. I cannot feel unless I bring my arm very close to my nose. Scent: 10/10 Projection: 7/10 Longevity: 8/10

A really interesting chypre oud scent. Never smelled anything like it. Polarising smell, for sure. But to me, I think it's the best oud scent, that is not a rose one ( I can't feel the rose anyway)

Not much needs to be said. This makes me feel like royalty. it’s really high class. Nobody around me likes it but oh well. This is a real GEM!

strong oud/patchouly combo.....great quality.....great longevity

Quite a lovely Floriental with chypre construction, this is my favorite among the Roja Ouds. The perfume opens with notes of bergamot, valerian, gurjun balsam and cypriol. The heart is mostly floral with rose, jasmine, geranium, with slught hints of oregano and nutmeg. The perfume settles into a woody powdery base of Oud, patchouli, vetiver, birch, benzoin and labdanum. This is a warm, luxurious scent that is unisex, with moderate sillage and projection and very good longevity. Enjoy!

Smelled the bergamot for maybe 2 seconds before I was instantly hit with the smell of oud. After a couple whiffs I could pick up the patchouli big time with soft rose notes. Personally too pungent for me, but if you like Oud and patchouli, then this is for you.

Bottle and presentation is 10/10 I found the oud off putting however if you love oud and want a fragrance that just keeps on performing this is your boy just keep the sprays to a minimum

This is very, very, good. Only to be worn on cold or rainy days. I have tried many, many Oud based fragrances, both niche and designer and nothing ever tickled my fancy. By far the majority didn’t have any real Oud. I sampled authentic Oud essential oil so I would have a point of reference. And the sad fact is most fragrances with “Oud” in their name do not contain any Oud. It must by a synthetic aromachemical as I would frequently get headaches (which I rarely get with fragrances) with these fragrances. I was looking for an Oud based fragrances that was wearable and authentic. “H” ticks both of those boxes and more. Definitely authentic Oud in this one but its the supporting notes that really make the fragrance shine: cypriol, Vetiver, nutmeg, patchouli provides a palpable feel that’s hard to describe. You can “feel” the fragrance. Like I said, it’s difficult to describe. If you are looking for an earthy, interesting, wearable Oud based fragrance this is for you. It’s expensive but IMHO worth every penny.

As with all Roja, this smells opulent, rich, regal and very smooth, but I just want to put it out there for those who wants to blind buy this (like I did): this stuff is 70% patchouli!!! Very, very heavy-handed on patchouli in my opinion. Based on the votes here I knew that there's gonna be a lot of patchouli, but I was still surprised by the amount of patchouli present in the scent. There's certainly oud and Cypriol oil and the balsam and the florals - which give the blend a warm opulence about it, but take note that the vetiver simultaneous makes it noticeably dryer than all the other Aouds by Roja. If you're a fan of Amber Aoud, Musk Aoud or Black Tier (like I do) - then H Aoud will be a fairly different experience. It smells great, worth the price, and I think the emerald cap represents the scent perfectly - there's no other scent out there that creates such an authentic vision of emerald in my mind as I smell it - but be prepared for a lot of patchouli and vetiver.

This is very good. If you are a Aoud purist, Roja is not for you. All of his Aoud selections are far from natural smelling. They are however unique and some quite good. This is one of my favorites. It’s birch heavy and a bit of light smoke accompanies roses and perhaps an incense accord. There’s an underlying nuance of plastic or rubber that real Aoud can sometimes have. I doubt that this can be attributed to any natural food used which makes its presence even more impressive. It does Indeed possess some boozy facets as other have mentioned, But it remains bracingly fresh and green. I would venture to say this would be absolutely perfect for spring as the overall effect is very green, herbaceous even. Even though it’s on the fresh side, it’s also very strong and long lasting. On my initial wearing I received several compliments. Although I wear fragrance almost every day I almost never received compliments.

I haven't tried this one and as this is Harrods Exclusive its not going to happen soon. I have been lucky to get almost all other samples of Roja and I like them. Prince Diaminy M was sold by Arabian oud exclusively at their Oxford street shop and the 60 ml bottle was selling at £10000. Later B version of Prince Diaminy was introduced. That was being sold at £5000. They are not available right now and I heard people are waiting for this scent. Roja Dove is charging only a small fraction of this amount so why single out Roja for high prices? Pricing I think is decided by not just quality but also snob value, demand, hype, exclusivity etc., We have only one choice- To buy or not to buy lol. ( Edit Jan 25' 19 - My review was in response to a review here about high prices charged by Roja Dove but that review has been deleted) And Roja truly has created some of the finest fragrances.

Wow, what a discussion. I have actually went shopping at Roja's Haute perfumerie in Harrods. It is made, like Harrods itself, to bling and ooze luxury for tacky arabs and other poor folk. Tasteless.and you are literary not allowed to leave without purchase...lol Roja's perfumes are the same. What's with that Swarovski crystal on the bottles? Supposed to be luxurious???! Maybe if you are 5 year old. Lol. Fragrances are not unique or exceptional either. And l seriously doubt about all that natural ingredients stuff advertised. What Roja is actually doing is creating a market for luxury goods. This has nothing to so with perfume or stuff we care. Only money. It's like you can't bare living without Chanel bag then you can't be seen without his perfume. Quality and substance is not relevant unfortunately..

This is the first time I have copied and pasted but I am honoured to acknowledge the prefect description from my fellow basenoter: A gut-punch of spicy-agarwood goodness that is yet again meant for the most discriminating of fragrance lovers (read: not for casually interested folks). Simply put this is strong and heavy and not very wearable either for the person or the occasion. That's not to say it does not smell nice but there are many out there that do what this does better for more of the time for more people and with more value to quote President Lincoln. Or maybe President Lincoln's original quote is more accurate here as well if you think Roja are having a laugh with their price.

I am perhaps not the biggest fan of the man himself, HOWEVER, some of the comments below are a bit harsh. I really think RD makes an effort to produce scents that DO NOT smell synthetic, that's for sure. He may constantly make reinterpretations of classics, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. H AOUD is a stunning fragrance actually. Medecinal raw oud start that quickly becomes smoother as time goes by. I then largely pick out a patchouli that combines very well with the oud. It lasts a long time and has an acceptable degree of diminishing projection.

Every accord listed above can be smelled, it is first and foremost woody. But it's wood wrapped in fresh and spicy, earthy, aromatic and amber notes. It's beautifully blended. It smells like sitting at a fireplace in an old mansion, with a rich-flavour whisky in one hand and an old book in another. The fire clackles, you can smell the wood, it's fruit-tree, aromatic, mossy wood. Beautiful.

This is Roja’s version of vintage Oud Wood but not nearly as sweet and amped up patchouli resulting in a much drier composition. Really quite masculine and charming. 7.5/10 w solid performance. Not an ideal reach for hot weather unless it’s a formal occasion during the evening.

The closest thing I can think of is L'Autre Oud (Lancome) mixed with Splendid Wood (YSL) with added resinous aspect. It's the cheapest of his Aoud line and you can kind of tell...but sophisticated and quality none the least.
