Kuwait

I have sampled all of them and have full bottles of three of them (Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, and Kingdom of Bahrain) with 10 mL atomisers of the others. I think Kuwait is the best of the collection, it is like Amber Aoud without the ambergris but executed on a higher level such that it is not as sickly sweet and is more complex. The dirty candy description is accurate as is a soapy sweet oud, it has so many facets it is hard to describe. It is fruity, sweet, dark, mysterious and absolutely mesmerising. Hard to pick out the individual notes. As a series I would say Bahrain is excellent and near the top but does not belong here, it deserves direct comparison as more of an aquatic gourmand version of Pierre de Velay 25, if you can wrap your head around that! For the others I would say Kuwait > Qatar > Oman > UAE > SA. Qatar is like Kuwait, but more leathery and milky like Black Phantom, Oman is sexy raspberry ashes, UAE seems like a boring rose oud off the strip but on wearing shows its majesty of complexity...perhaps a class leading rose oud, but no more than that and with Xerjoff's Astral at 1/3 the price is it worth it? ––and then KSA...it starts as a fruit bomb like Aventus but quickly becomes dry and smokey with some fruity residue similar in dry down to Oman, but more dry, less sexy. I'll leave reviews of the others as I wear them more.

My first try from Roja's collection of fragrances inspired by countries of the Middle East, Kuwait is really quite great, a fruity / resinous top & heart sitting on a base of oud, woods, and patchouli. The note list, however, is much longer, and from it, I mainly get a melange of very mixed florals (rose sticks out a little), peach, sandalwood, benzoin, labdanum, patchouli, and musk. I dare say it's sweet but not too sweet, either, the sweetness of the peach in harmony with the florals to give a more balanced sort of heady sharpness as opposed to one that's purely white or yellow floral or purely fruit. Even when it dries down, it's still pretty bright with the florals and fruit, though it feels like it has a little more bass overall after a few hours. It's a great performer, as expected for its predictably-lofty Roja Parfums cost of $550 for 50ml, and to me, a versatile player, as well, seeming to work well for various occasions (casual vs formal), seasons, and genders/ages. This an easy win of a fragrance at a price that's not so easy to stomach, but price notwithstanding, I'd have to give this some thought as a fragrance I'd like to own and wear a lot. This certainly makes me to want to try the rest of the line, though, regardless of price. 8 out of 10

Sweet rich dark dirty candy. The dirtiness coming from the civet. The smell is a 10/10 However, if this is supposed to remind you of Kuwait I give it a 4/10 I do a lot of business in the middle east and have visited all the Gulf states multiple times, except Saudi Arabia. I also have all the Roja Dove Gulf collection, except Saudi Arabia. To me none of the fragrances in the collection remind me or smell like the country they are named after. If you randomly sprayed this on a test strip and asked; what does this remind you of? I would say expensive candy or expensive syrup but Kuwait would even cross mind. When people think of the non-turbulent Gulf states the first thing that jumps to mind is wealth and luxury. I'm disappointed Roja just made a luxurious smelling fragrance instead of making a fragrance that would remind someone of Kuwait or the smell of Kuwait. All the Gulf collection fragrances wear heavy so I give him credit on that. People in the Gulf states don't care and wear their scents heavy even if it's a million degrees outside. They love their dark, rich, heavy, and resinous scents no matter the weather, so that is a plus.

As profound as the Persian gulf, unfolding in never ending layers of depth. Flamboyant like the golden splendor of the sun, awakening in the desert. What a magnificent blend, Kuwait makes my heart pound when I breathe the intoxicating aromas of fruits infused in smoke and agarwood all dressed in grown up sophisticated vanilla, lots of it. The flowers are full bloomed, deep violet accord, roses,jasmine, the brilliant addition of heliotrope to enhance the narcotic quality of the scent, the contrasting earthy patchouli, the animalic nuances of civet and musk laced with peach to add this vibrant animalistic funky juiciness to the composition. This is just a blend apart from the rest, resting above all, futuristic, arabic, regal.

This is a very beautiful perfume with well-balanced and rare notes. I mostly smell amber and oud, and very light notes of civet. The perfume is surprisingly leathery, masculine and very fruity. It does not have the sweetness of fruits you see in typical perfumes (like Byredo's Pulp), this is a semi-sweet, not ripe, fruit. Peach is just there lightly in the background. I agree with others that this is reminiscent of dark dirty candy. The citron is also there only in the light beginning, and very quickly fades away, I barely detect it even after second sniff. This is an ambery, fresh, vanillic peach with a very intense oud background. The projection and silage do not disappoint, as always.

This is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL scent ! The craftsmanship of the scent is EXTRAORDINARY The complex layering and interaction of the components could not have been achieved by anyone short of a LEGEND in perfuming I honestly do not know how to accurately describe the smell! All I can say is that the balance of fruit,amber, and oud is something I have not come across before (and Im FROM Kuwait!) Trying this on paper or in store definitely does not do it justice! I only really experienced after getting the 10ml sample as a free gift when I ordered from Roja some candles. Guys, if you are an Oud fan, you will love Kuwait! (The perfume, and the country as well XD)

Kuwait is a beautiful one. A fruity oud, I pick up on blackcurrant, peach, some sort of creamy undertone and this dark oud lingering about. While it does share similarities with Qatar, when owning them both the differences become clear. Qatar has pear and cotton candy which gives it a more fuzzy or effervescent texture. Kuwait forsure feels more animalic and almost baroque. Kuwait will forsure get a lot of use from me, this is something to put on when you want to be able to pierce the cold. A scent for confident people. I am glad to own a bottle of both as they are masterpieces.

I love beauty when it mixes with attractive exoticism. The most beautiful perfume from the Gulf group, but rather the most beautiful perfume from Roja. I am a fan of Roja No.3 but you feel that a large percentage of its beauty is familiar, but Kuwait’s perfume is rare. I think Kuwait parfum high price is a fair deal because of its beauty, longevity, and sillage. I was sad when I learned that the fragrance was discontinued. I hope Roja will surprise us by reproducing this masterpiece, But I was very happy when I bought the last piece of Harvey Nichols in Kuwait State.

Yes it's my favorite from the whole line (another two I like is Enigma and Risqué)it smells like rose mixed with some berry jam .....I think it's the most feminine one from the five.(the other four are UAE, Qatar,Saudi Arabia and Oman).

It is definitely the best, I even smelled a scent similar to dried strawberries or something like berry jam mixed with roses. This is a profound fragrance

Tried this one at Roja Dove Burlington arkade recently, and i think Kuwait is the best from this new line.

The very Best of the line, Bahrain is a good one too but performance are too light...

One of the best if not the best Roja!

You've arrived at your grandma's house and you smile as you pass her gardens, which are alive and in full bloom. She sits you down in the kitchen where she just finished coating candy apples with syrup and spooning out pomegranates and a manner of other sweet and fruity things, and she offers to make you a vanilla milkshake. You politely decline because you know she's deliberately fattening you up, and you jump as her cat leaps into your lap and starts wiggling its butt and stroking your face with its tail. Kuwait by Roja Dove.

To me this is the second best of the collection; it's rich and complex and not to be missed! Fruity, fuzzy, slightly animalic, with the kind of supporting oud consistent with Roja. Although I'm not a big fan of the slight sourness in the background, the fragrance is still enjoyable and not overpowering, but slightly more challenging & less crowd pleasing than the Tutti Frutti collection.

@saml23, I also picked up a heritage bottle, but haven’t compared it yet (still have about 5-10ml of the original one). Maybe I’ll try it soon just so I can update my review... @saml23, I’m wearing the heritage today. It’s pretty much identical, but I think the oud might come out just a tiny bit more in the heritage. Roja chose an amazing oud for this, so that’s a good thing!

Very nice, soft fragrance. Low sillage but longevity is good. A daytime fragrance that definitely won't offend. I'm not sure it's worth the price but if you can afford it, go for it but realize it may not garner compliments due to a low projectivity. For initimate close encounters, this may be the one for you.

To say that folks have high expectation from Roja fragrance will not be a over statement as name like Roja and price tag does that to your expectation, the gulf series is quite sort after collection of Roja parfum and this was my first fragrance which I tested from Gulf series. As you spray this fragrance you smell bit of citron and floral accord which is sweet and this was the best part of whole perfume development for me as in few minutes you get bit of Oud , Civet and lot of peach and peach is slightly over powering other notes but it still has the balance it needs however over the period of time I have realised that I don’t like peach note in perfume and thought I appreciated the blend in it but smell was not something I enjoyed . This is quite linear fragrance though its blended with lot of notes and does not have much of development after first few minutes , this is fragrance I will prefer on a strong woman then a guy but it’s a unisex fragrance over all , Like I stated at the beginning my expectation from Roja is always high and specially with price tag like 550 $ for 50 ML Extrait concentration , Roja Kuwait did not lived to my expectation. The quality of ingredients is quite high which generally is the case with most Roja and blend is great also with good projection and Silage however the notes utilized in Kuwait composition is not something I enjoy overall so this fragrance was not for me however if you enjoy notes like peach, Civet and Oud then you may like this fragrance however overall it’s a unique blend! (5/10)

Personally, I was disappointed by this one, there was so much of hype and good reviews so I expected a lot more. What I got instead was a sickly sweet scent at the opening - the peach and rhubarb combination comes out with a bang - the projection on this is crazy. I normally pray for projection like this but when I was in a closed room I really felt as if I had oversprayed (and mind you, I only sprayed it twice). I was almost at a point of scrubbing it off completely, it was nauseating at a point and too much to handle even on a cold day as it was. The dry down is much better however. The sweetness is toned down and the woods and vanilla leave for a rather enjoyable skin scent. But getting to that point is too much of a journey and effort for me - I sold this on the first day I got it - sometimes you just know when a scent is not meant for you! I still think Bahrain holds the number one spot in the Gulf collection, followed by UAE. Kuwait will hold the bottom spot for the Gulf releases. It is also amongst those being discontinued and sad to say but I won't be missing or paying the hefty premium from those eBay resellers - and I don't think you should either. Perfomance amazing, scent not so much, especially for the price. Cloying, sickly sweet and definitely not for everyone. A fair 6.5/10 Amber Aoud is a much better scent overall and any comparisons to it should be disregarded and I would choose AA over Kuwait every single time. Hope this helped someone at least!

Anything Roja does should be viewed like a tutorial or a seminar. I come bare skinned ready to learn. Let's jump head first into this Kuwait biz. Although it has a role, the citron isn't significant. It's purpose is to valet the active peach with bitterness giving the savory fruit a more intricate guise. The shrapnel of amber will hit you from all sides. The ambergris is whale made(pun intended) as a brown supplement to an already auburn composition. There's enough labdanum here to be considered heavy machinery. It affects everything thus appearing in all 3 phases of Kuwait. The oud is not much of a ubiquity and its decayed profile is transient. The benzoin existence is a lot like the labdanum; advantageous to the ambery nature especially in the 2nd half of the fragrance. The cashmere wood, tonka and musk could easily be one conjoined note. What's a good oriental without a rosy presence? The flower is dense and dusty enough to be confused with Turkish rose or sandalwood. Most of the floral notes were used as highlighters and not for attention. Another Roja in the books and plenty of opinions await. This is not distinctive, different nor offbeat from what we're accustomed to from the oriental genre. I'm actually surprised that Roja didn't teach us anything new given the motley of notes. How many different ways can the Hollywood of the Gulf be translated? No doubt, this is all things Middle East...and for that reason, the zeitgeist was expressed accordingly. Update: Forget everything I've said. This stuff is no joke!! I might have to cop this one!!

Rich, fruity and dirty! A very rich and very complex fragrance consisting of a fruity opening of peach and a pineapple feel for a cocktail effect overlayed on top of dirty animalic oils, resins and dirty woods. The notes that help the transition of the fruityness to the animalic side are in my opinion rosemary, geranium and cistus ladanifer, which also make this fragrance a tad feminine. If you're a Roja consumer already I assume you will feel this as a bit safer and if you're looking to approach the brand for the first time it may surprise you but I wouldn't call this an overly offending fragrance.

I was lucky enough to snatch a bottle from the heritage collection from the website. Al though i paid retail its worth every penny. Very unique smell and complex, the craftsmanship behind this scent is extraordinary. I mean MR Roja you have done again( or the perfumer of this, i could careless if he is the actual perfumer or not). It seems to last long time with good projection on the start. I didn’t extensively check it, as i want to save it from special occasions. Very sad to see this discontinued, Im really interested if the OG is better or the same.

Before checking the notes I smelled rose, tobacco (no tobacco but perhaps oud and sandalwood), sweets (probably from peach but it's not fruity to my nose), sour and bitter spice (not identifiable from the list of rather uncommon ingredients). It brings forth impressions of the Middle East, enigmatic and adventurous. Overall though I am not a fan because it's too heady and medicinal. It's like Chinese medicine served in a temple where incense is burning bright. The lingering scent after hours of wear is rich and sweet, which I enjoy.

Sour and slightly putrid fruity. It isnt just in the opening. Even 2 hours into the drydown i still have that same feel and it is almost shocking. If it didnt have that sour and almost sulfide smell I would probably enjoy it more, but I can not get past that aspect. 2/10

In my eyes, nose and heart the best Roja i have tried and i have tried almost all of em. The peach and rhubarb with the oud and civet is masterfully blended. It is perfumes like Kuwait that even the Roja haters can ́t ignore. One of my all time favs its amazing!

This stuff in incredible! I smell a much better blended, less offensive and fruitier Zoologist Tyrannosaurus Rex. Is anyone else also getting this? Anyways, I can't wait to give this a full wearing so I could give a more thorough review! ー🎅

Blind bought this as a heritage line - wow this is pungent like candy aoud glitzy attention seeking sister very exciting sexy with strong baby powder vibes ..... I love Roja Parfums so much

If you are a fan of Amber Aoud or Musk Aoud you will love this one. what an amazing dry down. The cost is astronomical however. Had to find a 10ml decant.

I just loved this one . It is surely the best fragrance ever made by Roja. The base note are really amazing.
