Majestic Aoud

Roja is not known for making particularly oud-heavy scents, but this is something else. This is rich, dense, raw and primal at its core whilst maintaining an incredibly smooth and sophisticated allure about it. Majestic, is the perfect word to describe this phenomenal scent. Upon initial spray I pick up the thick, musky and slightly sour cheesy oud which reminds me ever so slightly of the oud used in Oud Noir Intense by FDB. This is elevated by the green aromatic herbaceous strength of rosemary and patchouli before the cypriol starts to take over. As this begins to settle on the skin, the surge of oily cypriol dominates the senses - in a strange way it feels almost apple-ey, reminding me of Frederic Malle’s Promise. The muskiness is furthered by sharp civet and dirty castoreum which compliments the earthy nature of the scent beautifully. There’s a lot going on here but essentially it boils down to a cypriol bomb which feels very unconventional for a Roja creation, in a good way. I can understand why this was discontinued: if not for changing regulations on certain materials, but for the fact that this scent is a brave step away from what Roja’s usual clientele is used to. I do not agree with the statements others have made saying that Roja has tried to substitute using real oud by replacing it with cypriol. It is clear to my nose that whilst yes the oud is subtle, the cypriol is there as its own individual - not a substitute. This is one of the greatest cypriol scents I’ve ever come across but of course it’s not worth the insane prices it’s being sold for these days. I was very lucky to find a low partial at a good price.

Just received my bottle after 8 full months of searching. To say I am thrilled is an understatement. Majestic Aoud is a unicorn for only the luckiest of Roja collectors. I have tried many oud perfumes, and have a few Bortnikoff and Areej. I must say, despite dipping my toes in the pool of gorgeous natural ouds that those brands have to offer, I still absolutely adore Rojas Majestic Aoud. Is it as rich in pure oud as the aforementioned brands? No. But it isn't made to be. Majestic Aoud opens with a pungent but gorgeous oud, cypriol and patchoulli. I get hints of the citrus in the top for a small while, but honestly not worth discussing any further. The key thing to me that I love about this perfume comes next. The combination of animalics and musks are ethereal. Somehow a pungent, cheesy, animalic DNA is turned butter smooth. It almost smells fluffy. It has the same effect as I feel in Musk Aoud Absolu Precieux. Only this leans more on the animalic tones of oud. Performance I will test further, but I must mention wearability here. Most regular people will hate this. All in all, I absolutely adore this perfume. I think it is a gorgeous nod towards the more challenging facets of oud. Look, if you come to Roja for a bold natural oud perfume, you clearly don't understand what this brand is about. Look into artisanal brands. Majestic is a gorgeous oudy, animalic chypre / oriental hybrid. If you ever come across a bottle and don't mind skanky notes, please do yourself a favour and grab it.

Bold animalic woody perfume from this master perfumer. The chypre composition is doused with a Laotian oud accord that dominates the perfume. In the beginning one can detect the citruses and it moves to a floral heart and settles into a powdery animalic base dominated by civet, ambergris and castoreum but also a hefty dose of cypriol, vetiver and valerian. This is an aloof regal unisex composition with moderate to strong projection and excellent longevity. It is not intended to please and will shock many with its vintage animalic reservedness. Enjoy!

I see so many people refer to this fragrance as ghastly and pungent. I personally enjoy it and find it no more offensive than other ouds by Roja e.g. Amber Aoud/Musk Aoud etc. Its no where near as bad as people make it out to be! Very hard to get now, they don't pop up too often.

Roja incorporates oud in many many of his fragrances. I'm always amazed at how adept he is in incorporating this often polarizing fragrance note. However, most of the time the oud is not center stage, for example Sweetie Aoud- mainly a patisserie accord that's front and center. In Sultanate of Oman- the frankincense is center stage. In Majestic Aoud, however, the oud is front and center and throughout the life of the fragrance. I get primarily oud, cedarwood, and light florals. The oud is the barnyard variety not the medicinal variety. Surprisingly, this a light fragrance considering the notes. It's also very linear. Projection is weak, nearly skin scent for me but the longevity is off the charts. I like it, but I don't see ever finishing off a full 100mls, the 7.5mls option will be perfect...

Very little oud for £1450 and basically patchouli, vetiver and tons of cypriol. The underrated Harrods Aoud has a similar feel and wears a lot better without being so pretentious plus its opening oud phase smells more authentic. The Majestic Oud Robertet did last year for Shemagh al Bassam is way superior than Majestic Aoud for Roja Parfums I'm afraid to say.

Majestic oud at a majestic price. There is plenty of oud in it. The oud smells slightly animalic but sweet, reminds you of a proper high quality natural oud oil. Is it worth the pricetag considering you can get good quality natural oud for less?

I don't write a lot of reviews on perfumes, but I'll go out of my way when something: 1. Blows my mind. 2. I feel that it is incredibly under the radar and it is amazing and should receive much more deserved attention. 3. It is hyped to death due to discontinuation and it's actually shit, or close to that. With Majestic Aoud, it's the latter. Not only do I find this to be a poor perfume and a very poor rendition and attempt at an oud accord, but the name, the Roja marketing, the few people hyping it, and the price just make this one a comedy through and through. I won't call Roja out saying there's no Oud in this. But to me, it certainly smells like none. This smells to me like the cheapest way to attempt an Oud accord, using the cypriol and patchouli combo. Classic and cheap way to do it. When I sprayed this, I immediately thought to myself, "Oh boy, I smelled this Oud before". It reminds me of the cheap oud accords one could find in designer houses, or most certainly in Robert Piguet's Oud. That one uses a similar Oud accord, heavily built around Patchouli and Cypriol. So, yeah, no Oud in here. I don't care what they say. Anyone who has a decent experience with natural oud, will not fall for it. So, the oud is out, you ain't getting it. Moreover, there's this annoying Amyris used in the base, also known as the poor man's sandalwood. So the idea of luxury gets shipwrecked further. Basically, the main notes that I get, and define this perfume to me are, the cypriol, patchouli, and amyris in the base, a bit of synthetic cviet, Osmanthus, and some aromatic elements in the opening. So, it is an aromatic-floral perfume, heavy on patchouli and cypriol. I can only imagine the disappointment in shelling 2000 USD for this stuff and smelling it for the first time. I think they pulled it off the shelves afraid of getting sued lol. I am no fan of this house, at all, but this one has to be the most disappointing one in the entire line, and I have tried almost all of them. That being said. As ridiculous as this perfume is, and as much as I disregard the house, I still ADORE Diaghilev and consider it one of the best Chypres ever created, even though heavily inspired by Mitsouko. That one is exceptional, and a top 20 perfumes ever for me. This one is disastrous, and the entire story around it makes it even worse. Please do not blindly buy this, get a sample first and save yourself the expense.

If you take the citrus out of Diaghilev and mix it with H Aoud, you’ll get something similar to Majestic. The oud however is much more fecal and prominent here especially in the opening. This was a surprise to me since I was expecting a more rich oriental type of scent (without reading any info on it) but also due to the use of the barnyard type oud. Not something I thought would be in the Roja catalog but I guess that’s why it’s in the Haute Luxe collection. 7 out of 10 w good performance but definitely not an easy/versatile wear.

This didn’t move me at first, seemed like just another kind of barnyard Oud. Fast forward a few months later and I’m getting so much more from this. The dry down is absolutely gorgeous! The Oud takes a bit of a backseat to a slightly musky, slightly spicy, and slightly fruity dry down. Is it worth the asking price? I don’t know. But if I get the nerve, a full bottle will be in the future. I love this stuff.

The best Pure Aoud fragrance ever created. Sadly discontinued as apparently most are afraid of rich, Deep ,Succulent Oud, and prefer rose and a little Aoud in their scents. To me it’s Heaven on earth, the real McCoy, the Holy Grail .This is Aoud for men, not little boys, luckily I got a full bottle of this Masterpiece.

Opens with a dirty barnyard oud note, it really mimics the oud oil. But in a matter of minutes it becomes a smooth creamy scent: Here there's an accord made basically by patchouli, roses, ambrette seed and tons of nargamotta oil. Cons: This melange reminded me of some Boadicea perfumes.

I purchased the 7.5ml discovery atomuzer through the ROJA DOVE website. For me, it is a brilliant balance of floral & wood notes that support the gorgeous aoud used. It is dry, leathery & sophisticated. IMHO, it is his second best behind ROJA HAUTE LUXE.

yes ... but the oud is a very difficult ingredient..if we try to put more, All the perfume will smell of aoud !!

... it's fine perfume that Roja does ... it's not mukhallat !!
