Pierre de Velay No. 16

When I last reviewed Pierre de Velay 16 a couple years ago, I likened it to Clochettes du Bonheur, also from the same line. 2 years later, I finally own a bottle after hearing about its tragic discontinuation, and I still stand by my comparison - but it’s easily different enough to warrant owning both. This scent is absolutely bewildering and breathtakingly addictive. I liken it to Clochettes as the Lily of the valley accord used is very similar, meaning it’s absolutely phenomenal. It’s supple, bright and dewy whilst having this gorgeous gentle soapiness coming from the jasmine. A thick juicy sweetness coming from the fuzzy peach and tart rhubarb is an unusual but very welcome addition, for it’s what makes this scent so great, as it rests gently upon a wistful base of powdered violets, orris and soft woods. This has easily got to be one of my favourite summer fragrances I own, a scent which is impressively unique for something which thrives on a hot summer’s day. No boring citrus here, if you’re a fan of fruity florals this is one of the best. I wish it got more attention.

Pierre de Velay No. 16 is the fruitier, more playful cousin of Les Clochettes du Bonheur. It opens with some fleeting citrus before Roja’s favourite and most iconic note of sweet peach emerges, alongside juicy rhubarb and a heavy dose of lily-of-the-valley adding that hint of the Clochettes scent profile. There’s an added range of soft and powdery florals such as ylang, jasmine, violet and orris, before settling into a soft woody base and creamy vanilla. If you found Clochettes too linear then this is a great alternative in my opinion. The peach and violet combination also slightly reminds me of RDHP15, only here there is no chypre base and the addition of rhubarb is a welcome one - this is a very calming and serene scent which leans feminine but smells absolutely divine on the skin of anyone who wears it.

The initial spray is more fruity in my nose. I can detect grapefruit, lemon with some bergamot citrusness and tartness. After 15 minutes, i begin to smell a smooth beautiful of white floral , lily of the valley, jasmine, and rose combine with peach. The vanila helps to round it out to the perfect amount of sweetness to not be cloying. I don’t really smell the cedar wood or woody notes in it. Overall, the scent is sweet, creamy, fruity nuances with incredibly smooth floral and slight citrus as well.. Lean to feminine.. and I Love it🥰🥰🥰 It worth every penny if you love creamy floral fruity scents.. For the performance, it's good. Long lasting and projects well..
