Qatar

The Oud here smells like a very Woody Sweet Crude. For those of you who dont understand the term "Sweet Crude". Its Oil that smells rich & gasoline-like. The Saffron creates this very strong leather accord. The Peach, Pear, Violet, Jasmine, & Rose all combine with the Cotton Candy to create an accord that to my nose smells like a Pink Rose Bubble Bath. The Rose De Mai in Qatar is strong but not over powering, & it has a clean freshness. But unlike any other Rose that Roja uses this one smells Pink, & I know its the Cotton Candy note giving me a mental picture of something Pink adding a weird sweet luxuriousness. The Oud, Saffron, & Rose are just way too dominant for a Cotton Candy note to be clearly recognized as anything more than a "Sweetness". Because if you didnt know for a fact that it was in there no one would mention Cotton Candy at all. The Clove here is also quite strong in the Sillage, yet not clearly recognizable as Clove. It just smells like its part of the Spice accord that a Saffron note lends. Qatar is without a doubt a very well blended high quality Middle Eastern fragrance. Its Oud, Rose, & Saffron dominant. Performance is Beastly, yet its not suffocating. Not even in hot weather. Qatar smells like a Pink Sunset over the Arabian Desert.. 1001 Nights ??? Yeah I get those vibes here. Another love for me.... ***EDTIT*** So with my buddy telling me that he smells Cotton Candy in Qatar i had to revisit it. I looked up whats used to flavor Cotton Candy & one of the flavorings i found was Ethyl Maltol, which is what the Cotton Candy note that Roja used is made of. Ethyl Maltol: a white solid with a sweet smell that can be described as caramelized sugar or as caramelized fruit. Cotton Candy is flavored with: Ethyl Maltol, Strawberry Furanone, and Vanillin and Ethyl Vanillin that creates a flavor profile called “pink vanilla”. Pink Vanilla. In my review of Qatar I mention smelling something "Pink", & also a weird "Sweetness". I call it a weird sweetness because i cant clearly discern whether or not it smells like Amber or like Caramelized sugar, or an odd combination of the two. I didnt know if it was the Rose giving me the mental picture of something Pink because i knew i didnt smell a Cotton Candy note. I also thought i smelled "Fruit". But to my nose it smells like Raspberries. Which i now know is Strawberry. I cant argue with people who smell Cotton Candy because clearly the note is there. But what i will say is that my nose doesnt smell Cotton Candy as an accord. My nose smells each of the individual notes used to make the Cotton Candy accord. I described Qatar as smelling like a Pink Sunset over the Arabian Desert, & it truly does. Its very masculine, sexy, dark, & mysterious, as what you would expect from an Oud Rose combo.

joyful oriental 🧡 I've never been to Qatar in my life but from the background photographs of Doha the capital city landscape here I imagine Qatar as the jewel of Middle East. It is known for its futuristic skyscrapers and ultramodern architecture inspired by ancient Islamic design. So I think the perfect way to capture Qatar in fragrance is by taking a classic Middle Eastern style scent and make it relevant to modern and future era. And I think @rojadove succeed wonderfully here for a fragrance represented in ROJA Parfums Gulf Collections. When spraying Qatar immediately I get ultra pleasing juicy aroma of citruses sweetened by ripe peach and pear accord. I am amazed by how smooth and rounded the other complex notes blended here because nothing stand out from one another. So I will continue to share this fragrance with how I feel when wearing Qatar. When I put Qatar on my skin I get the feeling of happiness and joy. My heart melt with warm and I feel free from all the routine and challenging day. My mind floating to the fantasy sky full of pinky bouncy clouds (just like in the Doraemon cartoon I loved so much 🤗). I think this is the effect of candyfloss notes created so realistic here. So I'm very happy to say I finally find my signature scent for an evening wear because I find my personality in this masterpiece. I always try to find a positive side from all the challenges in my life and try to chill when it comes by. #vscentorientreview

A shining pearl, pure and precious QATAR is one of several fragrances in Roja’s Gulf Collection, a series of scents that pay homage to those countries across the Gulf celebrating the uniqueness and exoticism of the Middle East. QATAR opens on my skin as a dense, sweet peach scented cloud with a funky animalic edge. Within moments this cloud diffuses revealing a mix of pear, rose and jasmine with distinct sweetness. As the fragrance evolves it continues to grow progressively sweeter (thank you cotton candy accord). The sweetness is however never cloying, as it remains perfectly offset against the fragrances smoky, leathery and animalic facets as saffron, birch, labdanum, ambergris and oud ground the whole experience until the end. QATAR is a complex fragrance. It’s a noticeably dirty fragrance. It’s rich, bold and brash. I wouldn’t recommend it to those who are overly sensitive to animalic notes as the ambergris and oud assert themselves from start to finish. Me, however, well I am utterly captivated by QATAR’s beauty it takes me back to time spent in the Middle East. Simply, QATAR is opulent. QATAR is most definitely unisex, and due to its intense sweetness and animalic grit is perhaps better suited to cooler weather. As for occasions, this would shine in any formal setting. I love the way this smells Sweet, rich, dark, and strong The smell is a 10/10 However, if this is supposed to remind you of Qatar I give it a 4/10 I do a lot of business in the middle east and have visited all the Gulf states multiple times, except Saudi Arabia. I also have all the Roja Dove Gulf collection, except Saudi Arabia. To me none of the fragrances in the collection remind me or smell like the country they are named after. If you randomly sprayed this on a test strip and asked; what does this remind you of? I would say a rich creamy cola candy. When people think of the non-turbulent Gulf states the first thing that jumps to mind is wealth and luxury. I'm disappointed Roja just made a luxurious smelling fragrance instead of making a fragrance that would remind someone of Qatar or the smell of Qatar. One thing I give him credit on is that this wears heavy. People in the Gulf states don't care and wear their scents heavy even if it's a million degrees outside. They love their dark, rich, heavy, and resinous scents no matter the weather, so that is a plus.

Roja Parfums' Qatar reminds me most closely (in this collection) of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as it is a rose/oud with some sweetness but not as significant as the fruity sweetness of Kuwait. Qatar will likely be lovable to rose/oud fans like me, and starts off as a mild rose/oud blend, slightly sweet and slightly powdery, with a certain spiciness that I might attribute to the clove or possibly patchouli. It gradually becomes sweeter, the idea of the cotton candy emerging more so over a few hours. It dries down more thoroughly into a candyish, powdery, rosy blend without much oud or spices at all. The performance is very strong, with well above average projection and extreme longevity. I hold Qatar in high regard, much like UAE and Saudi Arabia, a very agreeable rose/oud scent with a bit of sweetness that emerges in the dry down. Roja's quality and sophistication shine through, as usual, and the hefty price tag of $550 for 50ml. 8 out of 10

With Qatar, you have to realize that it is such an Arab gourmand, where it actually smells best in winter, and the colder it is, the more beautifully it opens. Opening: a lot of people would tell me that you can't smell citrus, but for me it's not even about smelling them, as I say, it rather "colored" the perfume to make it a bit more sour. The beginning is quite oud-like and animalic, where cotton candy and fruits are combined, it's hard to catch them because it's a lot of things at once: cloves, fruit, a little caramel, oud, soft saffron, rose... yes, it all smells beautiful together and creates that Arabic vibe. The fruit is not very prominent there, rather it seems to me that it adds juiciness, although it is a relatively dry. And I understand how it may not suit everyone. After all, it is a rather specific Arabic fragrance, where the notes are prominent all at once, and it might even give some people a headache.

This is so good I had to get the 100ml. This is a very sweet rose oud, and not shy about it. It says exactly what it is in the note unapologetically...peach and cotton candy. You already know what to expect in terms of sweetness but Roja shows a different card on this one. It's so deep and unique. It's like a combination of all the other arabian collections without incense and less fruitiness. This is so versatile but it will make whatever you're wearing elegant. It's a top notch fragrance. To aquire anything precious, you must spend something precious. So if you can afford it, do it. You'll be wowed. 🥰

Roja Qatar (2017) - cotton-candy oud - @rojadove creates a fruity-rose-oud accord that is daring to be too sweet, yet balances itself out. I get a big blast of cotton candy, peaches, rose and pear. It’s supported by floral accords of powdery violets and rose. Backbone are white musks, ambergris, benzoin, vanilla and Patchouli. Also interesting that I was able to smell real oud yesterday - and this fragrance has the real deal. Opulent and a joy to wear.

Ah Qatar. This is the only fragrance I've decluttered that I actually came to regret letting go of lol. I hate the idea of gatekeeping, and sadly, I almost did with this one. This is a decadent blend of amber, oud, saffron, rose, cotton candy, and some other goodies. It's remarkable and one of my favorites from Roja. I think it's unisex, although some men might find it a touch too sweet... I suppose that all comes down to personal preference.

This is a absolutely beautiful and haunting scent. It's soft and not overpowering to me. It is definitely jammy rose and inscence but very calming. I only have a sample but I would make this my signature if I could. There is a slight cotton candy vibe but it's relaxing and the perfume invites you in. It's dark yet light and deep. I smell rose, incense, and jam with this but it somehow is dark and haunting and I love it .

What a beauty you are Qatar. My beloved pear and oud scent. People mention Peach but to my nose it really exceeds as a pear/oud scent with the prominent sugary candy floss undertone. SOOO unique!!! Funky in the best way possible. I am glad this one can be found on discounters because I could see this one going sky-high if discontinued. I love to wear this

A strong amber with peach opening gives me a middle eastern dried fruit vibe. This is nice, but I feel like a have smelled something very similar before. Maybe SHL Une Nuit a Doha, I don’t know. Not bad, but I think that it is quite overpriced for what it is.

This is a beautiful opulent composition! A real oriental with a slight animalic musc oud combo in the opening similar to the one used by Fragrance Du Bois in their masterpiece Sahraa Oud. Try on your skin before you buy.

A devastatingly beautiful fruity fragrance. Longevity and performance are excellent. Absolutely one of my favourites from the gulf collection. I hope Roja doesn't discontinue this gem in the future. 8/10

A great masterpiece of perfumery! note that it does open with an animalic not but it goes away i dislike animalic a lot but it is not super strong and goes away quickly to reveal a stunning scent

Enter a luxury car dealership in Qatar, open a brand new Ferrari parked by the huge glass wall, it's scorching hot inside but you take a seat anyway and close the door. You take in the super hardcore new leather smell; it's polarizing in the best way possible. You close your eyes and hug the leather steering wheel and imagine yourself driving along the Doha Bay enjoying the hot skyline while Robbie Williams “Millennium” plays loud on the radio; life is great. The door opens and you're asked to get out unless you’re buying. You go back to the hotel room in an uber; your soul and clothes still penetrated with that amazing hotttt leather scent; life is still great. That’s what this smells like to me. Masculine and lasts forever! Purchased for my BF and it’s sweeter and creamier on him; to die for.

You're on your way to lunch on a hot and sunny day, and your girlfriend stops you so that she can grab some cotton candy on the street, and you pause, because that's odd, right? You then make your way out into a city garden and sit on a sun-soaked wooden bench, surrounded from behind by jasmine and roses. You start slicing up some pears to begin your meal, but she stops you again - this time, to trade you her cotton candy for your pears. As she reaches across your lap, you catch the scent of the back of her neck, thick with sweat and faint vanilla from the cologne she used that morning. A sweet Oriental chypre scent showcasing in the drydown a musky sweet vibe. The perfume has both brief openings (of citrus) and heart (floral fruity notes like rose, violet, peach, pear) before it settles into a powdery woody base highlighted by benzoin, oud, synthetic musk, ambergris, orris, patchouli and other soft spices and a prominent cotton candy like note. Overall it is quite sensual with a skanky dessert like vibe that softens over time. On the flip side, its nothing earth shattering either revisiting themes and notes common in many of this perfumers creations. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. Recommended for lovers of sweet, exotic scents. Enjoy!

Wood compositions with powdery, musky notes can easily be too sharp for me. However, Qatar is smooth, well-blended and slightly sweet. To me, the fragrance is rather linear with the cotton candy note increasing over time and the oud note being present from the beginning to the end. I also get some leathery vibes, even though no leather is listed, which is most probably due to the saffron. The fruity, mostly peach, and flowery notes are also recognizable in the background, adding to the allure and light sweetness of the scent. Like other Roja perfumes, the fragrance DNA is not unique, but excellently executed and smooth.

The opening to me is a deep smoky fragrance combined with a pleasant fruity sweetness. Very appealing but not sure when/where I would wear it as I'm not sure how it would be received. I don't really smell cotton candy (which is a good thing). Good longevity when applying a small amount.

Smells like a veil of Roja's signature aoud scent, new leather and gasoline. It is artistic and one I don't imagine would be mass appealing. It smells like a very serious minded person on initial spray. Someone who's very confident and can be intimidating. Unisex leaning masculine.

Very nice lightly sweetened candied then amberous peach and agarwood accord up top. The rest is a neatly blended mix of flowers, resins and spices. Beautiful Middle Eastern zest with a touch of sweetness.

Literally the STRONGEST fragrance I’ve ever smelled and own. I can’t even wear it cause it legit gives me a headache lol but it’s a masterpiece.

A little bit too sweet for me but it is quite unique and pleasant. I would not buy a bottle. Scent: 7/10 Longevity: 9/10 Projection: 8.5/10

I recieved a 3ml sample of this and thoughts on this are, it really isn't what I was expecting. The Oud seems westernized if you know what I mean. It has a leathery sort of a medicinal smell. I don't get any fruit or floral notes although it does have a sweetness to it later on, I'm assuming it is the cotton candy, it isn't overly sweet either. It is a well blended fragrance and quality is definitely in its character. Would I purchase a FB? Not for the price it is at, 1/2 price, possibly. It is a nice scent but not unique (for lack of a better word) enough for me to say it's a "for sure" buy.

This smells very smoky and tobacco-y to me. I had the same experience with Sweetie Aoud. Not the oud I hoped for, but rather general sweetness and cigarettes. Not at all what I expected. Doesn't last long either, about 2 hours. I am really surprised about all the raving reviews.

If you did a blind test between this and some other Middle Eastern cheapie brand fragrance, you would have to just take a lucky guess on which one is the Roja one. The price is outrageous for the quality of juice you receive. Why buy this when you can get one of the earlier Bortnikoff oud creations and still have money left over. My preconceived judgment about Roja just keeps getting reconfirmed, ridiculous pricing for run of the mill ingredients.

Sadly the Benzoin masks everything else for me. Underneath I love the rose, peach, and oud, but.. It could be my sense of smell as Oud Cashmere Mood by MFK had the same effect, the smell of Benzoin is just pungent, and overpowering for me. Have 2 more left to try, but Kingdom of Bahrain is my favorite out of this collection so far.

Leather, gasoline, and oud. Not a fan 😬

There is only three scents in Gulf Collection which is not discontinued and this is one of those. Qatar smells rich, expensive and gasoline like blend with the key ingredients: Peach, Pear, Candyfloss, Casmir Wood, Aoud, Saffron, Labdanum, Musk. I get leathery vibes as well from Labdanum. This is like driving a luxury car with a finest leather seats and a huge tank of gasoline and the next day you have to fill the tank again. 🔥💸 I really don't know from where I get that gasoline vibe and I get the same from Sultanate of Oman but it's a pleasant one, somewhat abstract feeling. From the key notes you can get wrong kind of vibe of this juice because this is not so sweet imo and this is rather a dark and mysterious - and very complex. Oud as a note is very unique as well bringing a depth to the fruits. All those ingredients anyway has an important role here and without flowers in the heart notes this would be boring I think. I have to mention Cotton Candy since I like the idea a lot, it brings a distinct and intoxicating character to the juice and with that note is nice to add the sweet accord in the next level if wanted. In the dry down this amazing V12 sport wild beast turns a little bit more tame version but the smell itself doesn’t change so much. And it lasts and lasts. Like all Rojas this is so well blended that it’s really hard to separate all the notes. I love this scent a lot and it’s definitely a backup bottle worthy for me like The Perfume (previous post) as well. And if I spray once Love Don’t Be Shy sugar overload on top I’m in the heaven! Top: Citrus Notes Middle: Rose de Mai, Jasmin de Grasse, Violet, Pear*, Peach* Base: Clove, Saffron*, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Casmir Wood*, Sandalwood, Aoud*, Candyfloss Accord*, Benzoin, Vanilla, Orris Sur Cèdre, Orris, Styrax, Birch, Labdanum*, Ambergris, Musk* *key ingredients This perfume you have to experience yourself but sample it first. It is a beautiful scent, absolutely unisex but sweet. It creates amazing bubble around you. Honestly I would need another bottle since I'm afraid to wear this as much as I wanted to. Qatar is legendary for its pearls - the pearl of rhe Gulf. Reading through the perfume description, Roja wanted to somehow create a fragrance worthy of that name; so he put the pearl of the whale; ambergris to the centre of the creation. Qatar opens with seconds of citrus - just a splash but to my nose, that disappears almost instantly and the sweet elements come to play. Oud is always noticeable, but because its blended so beautifully, it just gives off slight oud moments. On my skin, this is fruity heaven. Pear and peach are the notes that make this perfume irresistible - but it has a twist! A unique candyfloss accord is used, so this fruitiness pairs up with a candylike playfulness. In its heart, it has jasmin and rose notes, and while I have seen some people say those notes perform their magic on them, for me, I get more fruitiness. As hours and hours go by, this sweetness calms down and this becomes a smoky, musky skin scent. Another multi-dimensional creation that just makes you want to smell and smell because after each sniff you discover something new.

I have a full 100 ml bottle of this masterpiece that I'm willing to sell. Message me if you are interested. Qatar is genuinely a great fragrance made with the highest quality materials. Roja Dove is an incredible perfumer whose creations never disappoint. However, this fragrance was not meant for me. Therefore, I would much rather have someone else enjoy it.

Imagine standing inside a crowded Indian railway stations men's bathroom that isn't maintained all that great now add some of that pink urinal cake smell. That's what this smells like on the opening. Couldn't stand it had to kill it with some hand sanitizer, then smelled my hand again and it smells nice now but barely detectable

Very interesting fragrance. I'll keep it short because it wasn't to my liking. However, the quality is brutally apparent. High quality oud that will satisfy any oud lover. Unfortunately for me, not a big fan of this direction for oud. Kinda gave me oud for greatness vibes. Only a little bit. Selling a full 50 mL bottle. PM me!

My favorite of all the Persian state themed Rojas. It seems more than any of the others to be a development on themes already explored with classic (Musk/Amber) Aoud, but more playful, like a kid's version. Still, a well tuned evolution. A tart, fruity-sweet toy sitting on a plush, woody pillow. Purely academic!

Absolutely MASTERPIECE. I just bough with other 2 RD perfumes. It's my top 2 favourite oudswith MFK oud. Love from first spray. Firs oud in my collection which is dark smooth, smoky but sweet in this same time. Very deep, long lasting. For me at this moment the best RD oud.

For me this scent is such a journey. I’ve never been to the Middle East, perhaps one day! But this scent started like a woody, pear violet and then dries into a sweet oud-ness that lasts forever on my skin.

I have the 100ml bottle and within two to three hours Qatar becomes a skin scent on me. I have no longevity or siliage at all. Am I the only one with this problem?
