Scandal

An ode to tuberose, Scandal opens with a powerful, animalic version of the flower. Heavy, opulent, salty, slightly dirty—this is a tuberose in the zenith of its bloom. Gorgeous, yes, and so incredibly potent, it is borderline revolting. My first thought was “I cannot wear this!”, my second “Oh wow, I have to smell it again!” It really is quite compelling, and gets even better the longer you wear it. Overwhelming at first, on the dry down the scent mellows out quite a bit, resting against the background of jasmine and orange blossoms. The white florals play a supporting role, softening (or rather taming) the tuberose. The sandalwood comes across as a warm note, and I perceive not even the slightest hint of the rose. One hour later, I get a lush and literal tuberose with a faint echo of lavender, which softens it further, helping it settle into a rich and beautiful skin scent. That is the version of the fragrance that stays with me all day. A stunning, creamy scent that doesn’t feel linear and seems to bloom on your skin. Scandal reminds me of another fragrance I adore—the regal, romantically named Atlantide by Tiziana Terenzi. If you are partial to strong, realistic tuberose, this is a must-try. P.S. I would recommend forgoing the blotter and testing it directly on skin—Scandal is superbly blended and reveals itself best, when warmed by your skin’s chemistry.

I cannot agree with @Fat rabbit (below) about Scandal Parfum being identical with Isabey Gardenia. I do think that if you like Scandal Pour Femme you will also like Isabey Gardenia EDP: they are in the same part of the garden. Scandal starts off loud, bright, sweet and fruity: almost headache-y, but after half an hour it evolves into something quite different and it settles down into a warm and gentle sophisticated white flower melody. Whereas Isabey Gardenia just stays more or less the same from first application and is far less complex and it goes on less of a journey, it is lovely. I want you to know also that Scandal Pour Femme parfum is also less scandalous and narcotic than Frederic Malle’s Carnal Flower because the tuberose in Scandal is heavily balanced out with citrus, musk and other lighter white flowers. I love Scandal, it is my favourite Roja Dove fragrance. Well worth the money in my opinion, a classic. Maybe @Fat Rabbit was referring to Scandal Essence de parfum pour Femme when she or he compared it to Isabey’s Gardenia. I can recommend Isabey Gardenia if you like Roja Scandal pour Femme but it cannot replace it.

I blind bought a 100ml bottle on Fragrancenet as it was on sale for $400.00 AUD. I had tried the Roja Dove Essence sample box and Scandal Essence was my favourite being a white floral lover so I had to purchase the Parfum bottle for my collection . Researched the difference in the Essence vs the Parfum and actually there wasn’t much information on its comparison . Based on the main accords of both , the Parfum has Tuberose being more predominant than in the essence . Also lavender is included in the top notes with the Parfum . I have yet to receive the bottle as shipping from the US is taking awhile . Once I receive the bottle , I can give a more precise comparison to the both .

Id have to say this is the most dreamy modern romantic white floral melange in our time. This is an always appropriate white floral thats polished and can reach for everyday without it being too much. Not sure what to wear? Scandal. Its much more versatile than one may think. This is not anything like fracas ..this is much more romantic and refined.This white floral does not roar. So if you are looking for a screaming white floral presence..look elsewhere. His Tuberose is closer to Fracas..this is closer to JDB but much more ladylike.. Just...lovely

I do see the resemblance to Bagatelle (which I have previously owned, pre-reformulation batch.) But to my thinking this is much smoother and less 'in your face old-school.' My skin devours fragrance so I will admit to re-applying twice on the first day I got it but it still didn't overpower me or anyone close to me. Everything was well blended so nothing tried to take centre stage. I would rate sillage as moderate and longevity as moderate. I'm not sure I would have paid full price for it but I am more than happy with my bargain find.

I just adore this perfume.it is exotic and feminine and makes me feel a million dollars..everyone who comes near me wants to know what the beautiful smell is! I am also a fan of the classic Chanel No 5,Champs Elysee and Balenciaga Le Dix...and Balenciaga Paris and Narciso Rodriguez..but Scandal has to be the ruler of all!

Yes, it smells like Fracas. It's a bit rounder and smoother, and it's a beautiful fragrance. But for the price, you can get a great ylang ylang essential oil (plus some jojoba to carry it) as a replacement, and buy five more expensive full bottles from your wish list.

Clone of the original Jardins de Bagatelle (80s Formula, not the reformulated liquid currently being passed off as JdB), at many times the price, but would be tempted to get one if my old JdB (I have a 1000ml large bottle) ever runs out.

Very classy, elegant and feminine! I also own Amouage Gold Woman and Chanel 5 and I would put Scandal in the same cathegory with them buuut for me Scandal it's the much much better version. For me it's worth the money!

Roja Dove Scandel has a heady sweet aroma,it is a veritable flower bomb.Despite its price it some how lacks that sophisticated elegance of other perfumes such as Miss Balmain or Hermes 24 Fabourg.

Scandal opens with jasmine and citrus and a sparkling, champagne-like quality that broadcasts class! There are no aldehydes listed but I would guess there are some, at least, although everything in this scent has been polished to a gleam. The indoles have been smoothed down as well - this is a light floral, and definitely not a "stinky" jasmine. As it develops the other white florals step to the fore - especially gardenia and tuberose, with orange blossom for a light touch of sweetness. The sandalwood and orris are there quietly in the background, but more to ground the white florals and give them a slight powdery quality, rather than to make a distinct statement of their own. People almost always describe white florals without much sweetness as "soapy". I'd prefer to call this a clean white floral scent - not groundbreaking, but beautifully done. I bought a partial bottle on fleabay and I like it, but it's not unique enough for me to ever spend the money on a full bottle. However, if clean florals are your thing, it does smell expensive, and I suppose it's important for Roja to have a fresh white floral in his line somewhere. My immediate thought when I spritzed it on was of Jean Patou "Joy", which is also jasmine and tuberose with a sandalwood base -- but I haven't done a side by side comparison and I think "Joy" might be more indolic. In any case, this one has the hallmarks of a "classic" scent, although I still prefer Roja's orientals and chypres so far. ("Enslaved" is pure perfection.) ps. just did a side by side with "Joy". Joy is waaaaay more indolic and is the "dirty" version of Scandal, to be sure. If you like jasmine and tuberose, but don't like the stinky side of jasmine, Scandal may be your bag.

There is a nice classic vibe going on without that heady, powdery "old-timey" scent that plagues many classy fragrances. But at the same time, for being so expensive and from such a prestigious brand, this is a surprisingly light, simple and easily discernible scent with little complexity. The tuberose is nice and light but its usual musky self, the jasmine and gardenia offers some sweetness although I wish there was some more, there is just a sliver of rose underneath it all to give it some extra pizazz and lift it up. It's not bad, very youthful, very bright, very safe. A solid 6.5 or 7/10 for me.

The first impression was of jasmine, jasmine and more jasmine. The bergmot was brief and then in comes the tuberose and orange blossom. Its so smooth and well blended. So sophisticated. Smoothed with musk and a touch of earthiness from the orris root. This is definitely a night fragrance and a lovely one at that. I could never take to Fracas because the white flowers were so strident and harsh on me. There is nothing to fear here and I've not developed a migraine as I usually do with white florals. Moderate sillage and lengthy longevity. I shouldnt expect anythng less from such a lux brand.

Heavy on white florals, especially jasmine. İt also reminded me of Chanel no:5, rich and classy.

Scandal by Roja Dove is a fragrance that embodies the essence of a "perfect" white floral composition. Yet, on the other hand, its calming effect can complement an edgy outfit or temper an audacious attitude, making it a versatile choice for various occasions.

I agree with the reviewers that it is a little boring and dated. It's mostly white florals, dominated by tuberose and jasmine. They are very intoxicating, dominant, floral and slightly sweet. The white florals take all the attention. The base is the musk that is hardly noticeable. It's very neutral. And the top is citrus that I personally do not detect. It's soapy and classic, and for me personally does not work. I prefer more intense and darker tuberoses like the one in Diptyque's Do Son, or on the opposite, airy ones, like the one in Nasomatto's Narcotic V.

Never thought I’d say this but...needs more powder. Smells boring, aged and just not great. An acquired taste. Femme; old lady even. Too soapy. The floral overtone isn’t subtle enough. This one is not harmonious.

So.... Scandal by Roja Dove. One of his first, before the line became gigantic and overstuffed. From the reviews and notes I was expecting a knock-out tuberose (something I can't resist). What I got was more of a pastiche tuberose. It smells like someone took 3 parts Jardins de Bagatelle and 2 parts Tocade and mixed them well. So what you get is a creamy, metallic tuberose with a sugary rose, up front and in your face. I wish it worked better than it does... The whole thing doesn't really gel and starts to smell foody in the worst way possible, like a bag of sweets left in the bottom of your purse. If you're looking for a steely tuberose with a touch of fruit, go for Jardins de Bagatelle. If you're seeking instead a fruity rose with a touch of steel, go for Tocade. And ultimately, if you want that knock-out, classy, expensive tubereuse of your dreams, Fracas is still unbeatable after 60 whole years.

all i could smell is jasmine and gardenia, too much of it. way toi sweet. if you like full on white floral perfumes then it is for you. definitely not for me.
