The perfume has that predictable, ephemeral start to so many other Roja Dove creations: the fragrance opens with a brief fresh citrus opening of juicy grapefruit and orange, creating a fresh citrus prelude to the opulence to follow. In the heart reverberates a captivating mix of a delicate cold violet with a bittersweet raspberry with that characteristic fruity touch that is acidic and sweet at the same time, intertwined with the intoxicating allure of jasmine and rose dominating this floral center but also without being strident. This delicate exquisite floral sweetness transitions gracefully into a multi-dimensional and deeply sensual base. Towards the base is where the complexity of this composition takes on a multifaceted proportion. With the warm embrace of an exceptional warm and spicy frankincense and the striking and dominant saffron that here refers to leather intertwining with the smoky woody richness of birch and noble woods, it also has the characteristic greenish woody citrus resinous of elemi. Soon the fragrance dives into the earthy waxy depth of iris root and amyris, which is further enhanced by the spicy warmth of cardamom and the subtle powdery sweetness of carrot seeds. The excellence of the ingredients used by Roja impresses as always! Already approaching drying, we have an opulent 'oud dry of excellent quality, very present, with a smoky leathery profile. A solid foundation very well blended with mastery by the great Master Roja Dove as he masters very well . . . highlighting mossy, creamy, woody woods and the roughness of musk papyrus completing this incredible construction, creating a persistent trail of sophisticated luxury and elegance. The overall effect is a fine haze of sweet, woody, smoky and spicy accords, creating a truly delicious and timeless aroma; and still has great performance.

Unisex (mail leaning imo) “For thousands of years, the Sultanate of Oman has been celebrated for producing the world’s finest Frankincense.” This perfume is all about Frankincense and you can feel it’s beautiful, fresh, warm and balsamic tones straight away from the opening until you can notice the last whiffs from the scent. Papyrus adds dry and aromatic woody vibes. Saffron mingles around those both and brings a little bit bitter, yet soft and earthy nuances to the spicy blend while another main base note oud builds the body of the scent and makes it deep and strong, a little bit gasoline like. I like Raspberry, Rose de Mai, Violet and Jasmine in here since they bring just the right hint of sweetness and sophistication to the whole juice without taking away any attention from Frankincense. Those notes don’t bring femininity to this, just to mention. During the day Sandalwood comes more in the picture making the scent softer but remaining anyway the fresh vibe. For me this is best to wear during the spring and even summertime since it’s not so hot here in Finland. My skin is so much colder than for example my husbands and I need warmer weather for many perfumes to shine in the right way. Oud is really pleasant here, not in any kind of way dirty, animalic or barnyardish which it was in already discontinued perfumes from the collection. Sultanate of Oman is another rose/oud entry (aren't they all?) in the Roja Parfums collection of 2016-17 of which I'm quite fond. It is quite heavy on woods and saffron, sweetened by raspberry, brightened by citrus, and sitting over a resinous base. It's most similar to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the use of raspberry but it's a bit sharper and more resinous. Like most of the collection, it appeals to the sweet-loving side of the wearer, so while it's not overall as sweet as, say, Kuwait, it's still quite enjoyably sweet to my nose. Apart from that, it's woody with tinges of citrus and other non-rose florals, but it's a pretty safe rose/oud to wear. At $555 for 50ml, the pricing is steep so I'm not sure I'd ever really consider making a move on a full bottle at retail price for this. The collection is really quite excellent, a variety of rose/oud fragrances that have varying merits, but given the abundance of rose/oud fragrances in the market, this collection should appeal only to a select few, and I'd be surprised to find owners of say, more than two. Still, it's impossible to the deny the quality and the power of these juices, which are very impressive. 8 out of 10

Why does this remind me of Vegas? Lol I don't care. This is Rojas saving grace for me. Got a couple discovery sets and this is the last one I tried. The rest were meh. Not awful but definitely not worth the price, and they didn't have much longevity (for the price, any of his creations should last at least 8 hrs in my opinion) on my skin. And if they did last a bit, they were nothing of note as far as scents. ... But this! This creation from heaven is magical. The raspberries give this oud some sweetness without gobbing it down with vanilla 🤢, everything in such balance. And on me, it lasts all day (yay!). I love animalic notes, so I'm probably used to them, and don't get any "dirty" oud from this at all. I'm gonna have to wait till black Friday or something for a good deal, but definitely full bottle worthy for me. I'm in love. (But not full retail kind of love)

Sultanate of Oman is a 3D experience. One of those most undermined scents. Opens with gorgeous Oudy raspberry. Punchy oud stays quite a while before the ultimate quality frankincense over powers oud. Development from Oudy raspberry to incensy raspberry is an extra terrestrial experience. Sultanate of Oman has the most smoothest and silkiest scent profile. Raspberry here will give you craving for fruity scents. This Oud will make you an Oud aficionado. This quality of Frankincense will make you long for incense. Woodiness in this will show you true meaning of woody scents. It lasts so long that I do not care to think about silllage. Exceptional quality fragrance.

I sampled Roja perfumes for 1st time today at Montaine Place in Abuja. I had already placed Sultanate of Oman, KSA and Kuwait on my 'I want it' list because of the notes breakdown. Unfortunately KSA was not available and I didn't like UAE. But I immeriately fell in love with SoO! The oud, woods, resins and fruits cocktail took my breath away. So I purchased the full bottle which came in 50ml at an eyewattering price! It is similar to Boadicea Green Saphire which is even more expensive, though that comes in 100ml. The oud and raspberry last the entire lifetime of the perfume. If you can afford it, go for it. Cheers!

Oh wow, jumped straight up as a contender for my favorite Roja. Opens with a pure joy mix of incense, woods and florals (violet and rose most prominent to me and a bit of an iris feel). Dries down to a leather and raspberry that is way more refined than any other mix of that variety I've tried before, with the incense still lingering. If you like incense perfumes you owe it to yourself to at least try this one, this is masterful blending. Note: I see people have voted this smells like PDLN 3, I own both and politely ask you to please stop that madness.

Picked up the aoud sampler pack and this one is the best of the bunch. It's just so damn elegant. Rose/oud is usually a turn off for me, but the rose is very subtle here. It's similar enough to tuscan leather that I get the comparisons, but SoO is on a completely different level. Do yourself a favor and try this one! edit: to add to Vitriol08's review, yeah, for the first 10 seconds the oud does come off as a bit barnyardish, but it's barely noticeable, and really only for about 10 seconds.

This is definitely no Rose entry at all. I have been wearing this for a year now and it is definitely one of the best Frankincense fragrances out there accompanied with stinky/musky/oud raspberry on the opening that turns into a beautiful smoky cigarette ash raspberry. This is a masterpiece as far as representing the cigarette ash smoke smell. Masterfully blended. I love this fragrance and interestingly when I go clubbing with leather jacket, I get a lot of compliments.

THE most beautiful oud perfume I've ever come across. My goodness!!!! Absolutely stunning!!!! I would bathe in this and spray myself all day long. Beautiful (!!!) Middle Eastern perfumery by Roja. Sultanate of Oman is most likely the most stunning one of the entire Gulf collection. Pure opulence, regal and beyond luxurious. I'm going for a big Kuwaiti dinner tomorrow and will be wearing this one. For those who are into a slightly creamier oud, this fragrance is the one.

Update a year in: this one is so good i would randomly throw away a dozen of my niche frags just for this one. A true masterpiece! So rich, deep, unique, gorgeous! It starts a bit animalic for ten seconds so if you don t like that, don t be afraid as it goes away very quickly. As with most Roja's at that level, it evolves and lasts forever.

Very enjoyable. No synthetic Oud and not a rose/Oud entry. On my skin this is in the same genre as Tom Ford Tuscan Leather/Intense, Widian London, PDM Godolphin, only more refined and greater depth. I’d wear Oman before the aforementioned.

Very beautiful and has a sparkling aura about it. I can understand the quality of materials and the effort that has been put into the fragrance. But the price point is really overinflated for it.

I love this. It really has layers and in my opinion a more darker and fruitier take compared to PDLN 3. Its more interesting and on my skin I get better performance than the other one.

Wow, this is so beautiful it made me laugh out of pure joy of smelling (and being intoxicated by) it, and went "how can something smell so good as this... Iiii loooove thiiiiiiss...!" I have to fully credit the ghost perfumer (not RD), this is such a high quality blend through and through. On my skin the sandalwood and oud come forward at first and the opening is a bit rough, but everything settles beautifully afterwards. If there's a visual image (not the smell) of this perfume, to me it would be a beautiful rose that slowly opens up and blooms with its richest nuances. I personally love saffron as a note and boy, is it done discreetly and beautifully here, all the notes form an olfactory carnival. Busy being intoxicated by this smell, I did detect raspberry , elemi , rose and incense in there too. Upon further testing, Sultanate is quite potent and really makes its presence known, I personally like the scent but I'm on the fence whether I enjoy its loudness and medicinal vibe. The latter really reminds me of cough drops at times and I don't like it. Potency, slow opening and medicinality aside, to me SOO is pure olfactory joy otherwise. It's worth sampling, if not full bottle-worthy (on a hefty discount).

My first try reminded me of Dawn DNA, and Dawn is a much better scent. The woody dryness isn't great; it feels like it's unsure what it wants to convey, like it's stuck in between—is it sweet, bright, dry woody, or dry, smoky woody? I'll try a few more and write about my development. For now, my first try didn't quite meet my expectations

Initially, you get woody, amber, and animalic notes, with a faint hint of unpleasantness(poop) on my skin that fades in about 10 minutes. As it develops, it reveals a familiar Roja aoud style, reminiscent of Parfum De La Nuit No. 3, which I think smells better. But to be fair, a side-by-side comparison is needed.

Not the best incense there is and not the best oud Roja offers, but comes together nicely; it's a solid woody incense offer.

Roja Dove's Sultanate of Oman is a lesson in luxury and imagination, proving that the most exquisite ingredients and the highest artistry of perfumery can still only aspire to what it is not. In this case, Roja Dove's fragrance is an impression of, or homage to, the Sultanate of Oman and what this middle eastern country conjures among the global imaginary: famed frankincense, for one, but also the entirety of the Arab market, known just as much for its sand and sweat as it is for its cardamom and saffron. The problem is that at Sultanate of Oman's price point, what you're paying for is a lot of hype, along with what I suppose is artistry and quality. For some that's enough to make this full bottle worthy, but for me I would expect that this fragrance "in dedication to the legend [of frankincense] that grows in his [the sultan's] kingdom" would more closely approximate the cultural and aesthetic ways perfume has been historically used in this region. That's to say, Sultanate of Oman is missing all of the mystical, religious, purificatory connotations of incense, and it's also missing the dirtier, funkier, "old world," consequences of moving one's body throughout the day in one of the hottest regions of the world. Sultanate of Oman smells expensive and good. It also smells ostentatious, and I'm not quite sure when I'd wear this perfume, probably too worried that the people around me would think I have money to burn or that, at the very least, I'm inappropriately scented for the occasion, even among the most wine-drinking bourgeoisie! Nonetheless, if I close my eyes and smell Sultanate of Oman, forgetting that it's named what it's named, I like what I smell. The effervescent opening is sparkly, pungent, and delicious, working its way to a fruity-sweet middle that's created by the rose, jasmine, and raspberry. This "feminine exuberance" is undergirded by a smokiness that, as I mentioned, doesn't smell like incense burning, but rather smells like cigarettes in an ashtray. This accord, which is invariably sexy, lasts into the base, where fuzzy woods also appear and refuse to disappear for 10+ hours. Like my opinion of Creed's Aventus, sometimes a little self-respect and good taste (what I like and how, more importantly, I want to smell in the world) is enough to say no to even the most attractive and well-crafted fragrances.

I don't like this one Smell 6/10 It's a fragrance representing Oman and Roja fell flat by not adding any incense and spices to this one. Also the oud note in this is stinky. I feel like people don't under that in the middle east when they burn oud chips none of it ever smells stinky. Stinky oud happens when the wood isn't boild properly and you would be hard pressed anyone burning stinky oud chips. However, if this is supposed to remind you of Oman I give it a 2/10 I do a lot of business in the middle east and have visited all the Gulf states multiple times, except Saudi Arabia. I also have all the Roja Dove Gulf collection, except Saudi Arabia. To me none of the fragrances in the collection remind me or smell like the country they are named after. If you randomly sprayed this on a test strip and asked; what does this remind you of? I would say a grape berry thick liquid medicine. When people think of the non-turbulent Gulf states the first thing that jumps to mind is wealth and luxury. I'm disappointed Roja tried to make a luxurious smelling fragrance instead of making a fragrance that would remind someone of oman or the smell of Oman. Hands down Amouage does the best when it comes to representing Oman. All the Gulf collection fragrances wear heavy so I give him credit on that. People in the Gulf states don't care and wear their scents heavy even if it's a million degrees outside. They love their dark, rich, heavy, and resinous scents no matter the weather, so that is a plus.

It just hit me. This smells like Tuscan Leather Intense.

I had to write my 2 cents on this gem after seeing Eugens unboxing. If you have ever smelled jovoys private label with that papyrus note this opens very similar to private label the first 2 minutes then they go in completely different directions. While i would consider private label a working mans scent.. this is much more refined and as with most Roja fragrences the base is absolutely loaded with notes. Imagine if you took private label & added the highest quality olibanum you could find.. then elemi adds this lemony oily touch that mixes with the rasperberry you would smell in tuscan leather & then to put the bow on everything you get this ultra refined Roja twist on things with gorgeous rose de mai & jasmine & violet. If you have ever smelled his other chypre creations that have this floral heart you will know what i mean. Whoever creates these (whether its Roja or a ghost perfumer) does the florals in a fashion very distinct. They are all there and sometimes you smell and think rose or jasmine or violet or narcissus or whatever flower is being used.. but then at the same time you just get this gorgeous floral mix that just smells expensive. That is all humming along in the background along with some of the best resins you can imagine in the base all just giving off this beautiful middle eastern vibe. If you made me describe this scent to a fellow frag head i would say take private label, add the cypriol from Amouage journey man minus the tobacco and blend with the resins and Rojas pattented floral heart you will find in oligarch or danger pour homme or even chypre extraordinare in the background for refinement and viola! Sultinate of oman is born. It is a scent that really speaks to me but i dont wear it often. Normally when i crave middle eastern perfumery i reach for Amouage and when i want Roja i reach for something else. But everytime i wear this it just makes me happy. This along with saudi arabia are my two favorite gulf collection aoud line fragrences... oh and also the discontinued majestic aoud as well. Majestic aoud is a full on oud fragrence though and Sultinate of Oman is more refined with the oud in the background serving as a base. ROJA PARFUMS - ꜱᴜʟᴛᴀɴᴀᴛᴇ ᴏꜰ ᴏᴍᴀɴ Frankincense Royale ✨ Like all ROJA creations Sultanate of Oman is composed from lots of notes to create the most luxurious experience in perfumery. Having tested almost all ROJA fragrances I can confidently say that this one is the least complex in terms of scent profile amongst other lineup. But it doesn't mean that this particular one does not have the same level of appreciation in my heart. What makes it special is how every other notes in the composition manage to work together seamlessly in harmony enhancing one single note to take center stage, which is Frankincense (incense). The added touch of creamy and woody sandalwood highlight the incense perfectly and lift the whole composition becomes light and pillowy. Overall the most dominant smells that I get mainly is incensy, woody and only tiny bit leathery coming from the saffron. It wears the most beautifully and appropriate in the cold weather. Sultanate of Oman is also the most linear ROJA fragrance with almost no progression from the beginning to the end. It already shines from the start and will satisfy the most demanding taste looking for incense fragrances including the Middle Eastern people who's very familiar with burning bakhoors. Hence of its linear excellence showcasing the finest incense smell in perfumery, it will beautifully complement other perfumes as a layering to create luxurious feel and add extra depth. Other strong point from this particular fragrance I want to mention is that it will satisfy all type of fragrance enthusiasts from beginner to fragrance connoisseur. Because deep down it is actually a complex blend, experienced connoisseur can really dive in and be entertained by the multiple layers of facets that is lying under it's simple exterior. Sultanate of Oman opens with a realistic dank oud and quickly shifts to what smells like burning frankincense emanating from a sandalwood incense coffin. A subtle touch of bitter raspberry and powdery violets whisper in the background. The buoyant citrus notes create an unexpected freshness beyond the wall of woods and resins. It seems orris and musk also contribute to the powdery qualities of this fragrance. Some of you claim that Sultanate of Oman is too sweet, but I find myself grasping for more sweetness. Of course, body chemistry will always determine the fine details of the dry down. I am vaguely reminded of Replica Autumn Vibes after an hour or so of wear. I’m putting my money on the carrot seed, cedar, moss and cardamom as they do share these notes in common. S.T. DuPont Noble Wood also comes to mind as the Sultanate evolves. Quality is almost never a question with Roja, but I found performance to be debatable here. Some fragrances such as Musk Aoud, are intended to wear very close to the skin. Projection was moderate the first hour and soon became very intimate. While I love Roja Parfums, I prefer Amouage for this scent profile.

I wanted more of that creamy purple raspberry cream savers effect. The woody base was too overpowering and could've been balanced out better as to let the sweeter aspects shine more. Now this doesn't have to be as sweet as Sweetie aoud, but worked in such a way that adds beauty. The woody aspects remind me too much of amouage overture man's base DNA with the burnt woody curry spices and mustard sauce oudy path that fragrance takes. At the very drydown/ 9 hour mark, you'll be reminded of spanish cedar (humidor cigar box) which is quite interesting because I am a fan of tobacco. Update: After wearing it a second time, it seems to be giving me what I initially asked for. It got sweeter and more balanced with the creamy raspberry but this will not be close to being as sweet as sweetie aoud. This is a fragrance that stands alone on overall composition A+

This is the most luxurious fragrance I have and smelt. Everything blends so well yet you can notice the notes as they pass on towards the others right down to the glorious base. The raspberry is through the entirety of the fragrance. When it is together with the Oud it is heavenly but when the Frankincense comes into the mix, it's devine. People think oils really don't vary in quality well I beg to differ because the oils used in this is very high quality. Does it justify the high price?, no but I am glad I do have this in my collection now . I do have a clone of this and it is nice but compared side to side you can tell the difference in the oils and the quality of them being used.

Phenomenal longevity, great sillage. An oddly fresh floral heart. It's just a hint too sweet for me. Dry down screams "raspberry mamba" if you're familiar with the sweet chewy starburst like candy. It's good, but in the oud-raspberry realm I gravitate toward the somewhat more aggressive Moon by Frederick Malle

I love oud, so I gravitate towards fragrances like this. I like it, but you should know the oud is a little medicinal. As someone said below, the raspberry does tone it down a little, but it’s still an oud-heavy scent. Performance is great. I’m still testing it to see if it’s full-bottle worthy.

It is a scent that really speaks to me but i dont wear it often. Normally when i crave middle eastern perfumery i reach for Amouage and when i want Roja i reach for something else. But everytime i wear this it just makes me happy.

This is just a softer and lighter version of Diaghilev. Almost redundant to own both if i were to have to choose. Probably just go with one or the other. 6/10
