Vetiver Pour Homme

Stunning vetiver frag - all the characteristics of vetiver on display (and in balance) but laced with a chypre sensibility that you need to take time to appreciate: I truly love this stuff. There's much said about rating this against other vetivers, but it depends a lot on what you're looking for (and where you live). To me, there's no point sampling this unless you take it into chilled air, and then wear it over time in different seasons to compare. Not easy, I acknowledge, as it's silly expensive. When worn in the heat, the Parfum has this extra rootiness that growls in the open, until it's tamed and smooths later. The lemony top and floral heart notes are more suppressed, so it loses much of its chypre quality and I think there are better (certainly more cost-effective) ways to wear vetiver in those climes. But in the cooler, if not chilled, air this vetiver pulls back, becoming rich and silky smooth, and allows the delicate citrus and floral elements to reveal, one after the other. Many hours later the dry down remains an amalgam of it all on skin (under my t-shirt). Very special if that's your thang. I wear TF Grey Vetiver in the high heat, when off to work and occasionally in personal time too. The 'growl' from that is the tart grapefruit, if you spray it too much, and it's a different wear to Roja's Parfum which is complex and warm (notwithstanding some similarity in the underlying vetiver). For me, having Roja's Parfum means TFGV differentiates (in the heat) in a way that I can't justify the extra spend of his Parfum-Cologne version. And if, IN THIS PLACE, I'm forced to have only one vetiver-FORWARD frag, for most-of-year use, then I'd choose something different entirely - Sultan Vetiver. But for me Roja's Parfum is King, in the cold. Edit 27/6/24: If I lived 1,500km+ closer to the equator, from here, and had to have just one vetiver-FORWARD frag......Roja Parfum-Cologne! (thought I should add that ;) EDIT 27/10/25: I've changed my mind. TFGV is perfect for the very high heat, but I'm loving the switch now to Vetiver Guerlain, replacing TF in the warmth for a green, grassy and more complex alternative. I think that, actually, I'd prefer the Guerlain as my most-of-year 'one choice', IF I was living closer to the equator. Let's face it though, these are ALL amazing vetivers.

Well after I thought I hated the vetiver note, I ended up sampling Vetiver Parfum Cologne and found it unbelievably striking and damn near perfect. So much so, I blind bought this one. Im not going to lie, on Roja's instagram, it says something along the lines of, "Wear Vetiver Parfum Cologne during the day and switch to Vetiver Parfum at night and thank me later."......SOLD! I went ahead and bought this Parfum. I do not regret it! This Parfum version is more bold, more smoky, and more woody. The Parfum Cologne is definitely a fresher version with a bergamot-like beginning and a leathery finish with a fantastic vetiver backbone. The Parfum version isn't quite as citrus-fresh, but it has this sweet sensation to it that is absurdly mouth watering and I think this comes from a subtle floral nuance. I have to say I am a huge fan of both. I'm leaning towards the Parfum side because it almost smells more natural with less citrus, but the citrus is so imperative in the freshness of the Parfum Cologne. Two elite offerings from Mr. Roja with unimaginable vetiver vertebrae. The one pessimistic thought I have here, is that I am not quite sure the Parfum version should be valued at almost $200 more than the Parfum Cologne. Regardless if the Parfums performance is better, which I cannot comment on right now, but $200 is quite the steep difference for fragrances that are built off of each other. Plus, you get double the juice in the cheaper Parfum Cologne offering with a gorgeous green bottle. Things I like about the Parfum: - Natural woodiness - Subtle masculine sweet-floral nuance - Bold, smoky vetiver up front Things I like about the Parfum Cologne: - Stunning green bottle - Citrusy uplifting freshness - Lighter, leathery vetiver dry down This one is tough. I keep coming back to the whole, "Wear Parfum Cologne during the day and switch to the Parfum at night and thank me later." I can't choose a winner. I hope this novice review helps someone! So, embarked on my every 5 year or so fragrance testing frenzy, tried at least 25 niche or exclusive samples and ended up with around 10 to 12 worthy of consideration. In terms of overall performance with longevity, projection and sillage with price included, one of the best of my samples was Roja Dove Vetiver. Complete 180 degree turn on my initial impressions of RD Vetiver, as I do believe it does take some time to acquaint oneself with the nuances of a quality composition. My own prior encounters with the higher quality Vetivers such as Dior Vetiver, FM Vetiver Extraordinaire, Guerlain Vetiver etc. was decidely underwhelming. Not one of the many tried could be described as approachable or accessible despite many attempts at wearing in various weather types or situations. The common denominator to all being the sad provider of incredibly persistent sinus headaches. Even on others, the niche Vetivers routinely left a trail of old school blandness and lack of imagination. Then along came Roja Dove Vetiver, the extrait of all things, to save the day and make me rethink my opinions on Vetiver in general. In fact the only Vetiver I can wear year round , suitable more for night imo, where the gently swirling supporting cast of some well thought out components such as rock rose, guaiac wood, pepper and amyris compliment a most delicious smoky Vetiver. The others provide a taming effect to the Vetiver without ever stealing it's thunder or pushing it from the limelight. The drydown is quite magical in it's warm sparkling glory. Let it settle in for hours and the effects become in essence mildly addictive. Projection is more reserved in nature, longevity is for days, sillage is discreet and for those around in close quarters they may even feel blessed in the moment. Roja Dove made the Vetiver gold standard here. 9/10.

ROJA Parfums - Vetiver Pour Homme Aquatic Sophistication 💦💧 I'm sure as a fragrance lovers with different taste and preference everyone will have a freshie in their collection. Smells great is very personal depending on everyone taste in scent profile. But everyone will definitely agree to fragrance that smells fresh and clean. That's why freshie is the most mass pleasing and easily acceptable ones. The double headed sword for a freshie is it usually can get boring for it's simple profile. Today I will be sharing a wonderful freshie from ROJA Parfums called Vetiver Pour Homme. This is the most aquatic fragrance from Roja lines. It wears as an aftershower fragrance which is very clean and airy. But as all Roja creation the notes used to build this fragrance is very complex. Don't let the name of this fragrance misleading you as a vetiver scent, which is usually woody, smoky dry and earthy. The vetiver here is acting as a base wrapped around by many notes (I don't get the nature of vetiver at all in here). At the top lemon and bergamot giving a very bright and sparkling aroma. At the base there are pepper, cedar wood+needles and oakmoss creating depth and complexity. I also get a menthol quality on the skin. There are still many notes in here I don't get explicitly because it is blended into a harmonious accord. Nothing sharp or rough everything is ultra-smooth and refine. That's why I call this an Aquatic Sophistication 💦💧. This is a very grown-up and upscale freshie. I highly recommend this one to try if you love Elysium Pour Homme and I can guarantee you will love it equally or maybe even more because the performance is better. #vscentorientreview

Much like others in the Roja collection you are not going to hear praise about innovation here, this is simply (although Dior Vetiver is another great one) the best or at least smoothest rendition of a classic masculine Vetiver you can get imho. An easy reach for the day that smells incredible in an elegant manner. I do agree it is similar to both Guerlain Vetiver and even closer to Tom Ford Grey Vetiver but it is elevated higher than those with a really creamy rounded blend of vetiver and mildly powdery labdanum and spices (that gives a mild leathery touch) in addition to its other supporting elements. While the star of the show is the vetiver in all three what the Roja Dove version does is like a Michelin Star version of a similar dish, it allows the vetiver to take centre stage and stays beautifully simple by the quality of the ingredients, and the blending of the accompanying parts to allow a base for that to stand on. Expensive yes, but try them all side by side and it’s easy to tell which is the expensive one here. Smelling it closely sometimes gives me the chills. Not many go on my “love” list but this easily slots in there.

Definitely a Man's scent and what a beautiful and masculine scent it is. Now, this isn't your typical vetiver smell you're used to. It's rather a well rounded green and floral scent that is backed up with alot of things that makes it go a bit earthy, herbal and rooty. Compared to the Cologne release, they both have the same earthy backbone. Main difference between them is that cologne has zesty citrus added to it and toned down on the florals. But then again, you get 50ml more juice in cologne for half the price. Decisions decisions. In terms of scent they are both equally good, it's just a matter of what you prefer. The more balanced composition in Pour Homme or a zesty citrus added that you get in cologne.

I bought Roja Vetiver Parfum Pour Homme early on in my fragrance journey, and I guess I just wasn't ready for it. It sat fairly unused for quite awhile. I think my nose evolved and matured over time and now I absolutely love this. As many people have said, it is just about the best a vetiver centric fragrance can get. So my comment is kind of directed at people like me, who may have smelled Vetiver Parfum Pour Homme and wrote it off early on in their fragrance journey but have now matured and their interests have changed. If that sounds like you, I urge you to give it another try. It is truly exceptional ... bright yet warm, spicy yet smooth. I give it a 9.5/10 and a Fragrantica score of 4.7.

Yves Cassar, the perfumer of Tom Ford's "For Men" says that if Vetiver was a personality, it would be Indiana Jones. For me, the vetiver in Roja's refined essence is an Indiana Jones in a suit who elegantly wanders through the wilderness. The smoky, peanut-like aspect of the vetiver takes a back seat in favor of a creamy, citric character, with a hint of ginger, but not really a sharp ginger note. It is very attractive to me. For those who have always wanted a vetiver fragrance full of softness and warmth, this is my recommendation. Fragrance 9/10, Longevity 8/10, Sillage 7/10, Flacon 9/10

The Vetiver I’ve been looking for. Been thru a fair bit atp haven’t tried Sultan Vetiver yet but wow this nice. About 95% similar to the Parfum Cologne but opens about the same but the Parfum smells slightly darker and smokier and sticks to your skin nicely. I agree that the PC smells more daytime, daily driver, fresher and the Parfum is more nighttime dress up I guess but the Parfum just hits perfectly beginning to end only complaint is I get abt 6-7 maximum longevity feels only a little better than the PC to me, the former seems very recommendable to most

I think you have to really like Vetiver fragrances to understand what this one is about, I agree with the reviews here, where many say that this hits the sweet spot of Vetiver fragrances in that it is perfectly balanced, its not too "Green", its not too "Earthy" and it doesn't lean hugely sweet to try and counter both of these like so many other Vetiver fragrances do. I think its clear that this was Roja's reimagining of what Guerlains Vetiver would have been after many years of reflection (it is still a classic in my eyes).

The best vetiver fragrance out there, and for me - the best fragrance ever made! It's not just vetiver that does the magic, it's probably the cedarwood that gives it a nice touch(an incense-like vibe that'very pleasant). Very nice, very elegant, one of the more versatile Rojas. Performance is just OK(some people would probably expect more from an extrait), not as strong as other Rojas, longevity is good enough (about 7-10 hours), projection is rather moderate(about an arm's length) ps. the review is for Parfum, not EdP

@josepth.matthias: no, it's not "generic citrus but light in the extreme" , while it does have some citrus especially in the opening, it's a somewhat heavy frag, that in addition to vetiver has some woody/resinous/smoky aspects(I suspect labdanum and cedar) . It's very different in character from citrus fresh frags, despite having some citrus in it. You should test it on skin if you can, or better yet, get a sample. It's truly an amazing fragrance!

A very clean and safe fragrance, suitable for everyday use and great for the office. Starts off with a burst of citrus, a touch of earthiness and green. An amazing vetiver scent that is masterfully blended, as are all Roja fragrances, and exudes classiness. However...it is extremely overpriced for what you're smelling.

Probably my favorite fragrance ever made- one of the many absolute bangers from Roja. Opens with a juicy lemon draped over a vetiver, sweetened with a subtle bergamot. As the dry-down comes, a beautiful oakmoss blends into the scent. 1000/10 get your nose on ts (this scent)

A lot has been written about so i would just say this is a true vetiver masterpiece of the highest quality. I have dozens of vetiver forward scents and this is one of the best. You cannot go wrong.

Really, really nice well composed Masculine. Think Sinatra or Cary Grant when wearing this. Reminds me of if Guerlain made an exclusive version of their legendary Vetiver.

TF Grey Vetiver is a man in a Armani suit, Roja Vetiver Parfum is a man in a bespoke Savile Row suit.

The biggest con to this fragrance, of course, is the price, it is way too expensive for what the scent is. You can find frags for $40 that have the same scent profile... BUT! To really, really appreciate this scent, you need to try (and WEAR!) maybe a dozen of other vetiver fragrances (like TF, Guerlain, etc.) then you realize how naturally smelling it is, how well balanced (nothing sticks out), and how "right" is the performance. Perfect vetiver fragrance done right! So spend money on it ONLY if you can afford it and if you've smelled (and WORE!) a bunch of other vetivers.

An interesting floral chypre composition that showcases a nice natural vetiver accord. The perfume opens with notes of lemon and betgamot before moving to a floral heart of rose, jasmine and labdanum. It quickly settles into a dense powdery base of vetiver, oakmoss, cedar, amyris, galbanum, and slight spices such as pepper, nutmeg and caraway. This is a nicely composed unisex scent with moderate sillage, projection and longevity. There is nothing in it however to warrant the steep premium pricing it comes attached with. Enjoy!

just bought it along with the cologne. the parfum sits close to the skin while the longevity is better than the cologne. the cologne is brighter in the opening. if u want projection buy the cologne, if you want longevity buy the parfum. ive owned roja Vetiver, Elysium, Enigma, all cologne & parfum, for me the parfum is more a skin scent and great longevity, while the cologne is better for projection and sillage. the smells are all 95% identical.

It's nice but unless I hit the lottery, ain't no way I'd ever spend the money on a bottle of this. I got a sample from Lucky Scent and was a little underwhelmed; to me it's just another fresh citrus with a woody base fragrance. It's not bad at all but I don't think it merits the price.

Gorgeous composition, but lasts about 3 seconds and has next to no sillage even when oversprayed. Get Grey Vetiver (every bit on par with this as a "reference" fresh, sparkling vetiver) and spend your Roja money on a different Roja. No, really.

Incredibly round, soft vetiver, mildly salty and without any frills or sharp edges. Super suave..... I find it a thing of beauty, but up to you to decide if you want to spend this kind of money on a simple, discreet and understated fragrance.

ELEGANT EARTH Beautiful citrus opening that slowly morphs into a rich, smokey, earthy dry down. This version, the Perfume, is best for evening. If you need/want a masterful vetiver, look no further.

Beautiful vetiver in it's simplicity and cleanness. Worth its price? No. That's why it gets only a "like". Had it been priced 3 times less, it would have gotten a love. Fall/Spring, 25+

Vetiver...there are many others that are just as good for a lower price tag. Received as a sample and not bottle worthy for the $$ IMO. Mediocre projection and longevity.

So far this is my favorite veltiver scent. It's smokey and balanced. Doesn't come off sweet. Sucks that it's so pricey. Definitely worth adding to the collection.

Beautiful scent, awful performance. Longevity is around 5 hours and projection/sillage is truly awful. Not worth the extra 200 over the parfum cologne.

This smells exactly like Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver Parfum. It smells good, but it's the exact same as the more affordable TF. Save yourself a lot of coin and get that instead.

It just doesn't really do anything for me. A bit too old-school or mature smelling. Nothing terribly wrong with it, but I prefer Elysium and other brighter fragrances.

Ok let's get the obvious out of the way....it's vetiver fragrance and it shares resemblance TF Grey Vetiver EDP. So if you're an uncomfortable with giving this kind of money for a Roja Vetiver go with TF. It's awesome fragrance too....average people will not see a difference. We fragheads are exception. Let keep in mind that you don't need to give full retail for Roja. Yes it's crazy expensive even with discount but.....devil is in detail in this one. Quality is second name of this fragrance people, you can't deny that. Roja is master who lived for a fragrance and he clearly demonstrated it with this one. From a first sprey you get breath taking lemon like in none other fragrance. Very soon you get vetiver full on but lemons are still in background. Hiding, but there. Smoking leather but not like leather smoking one or like Gurlean vetiver. Balance is third name of this fragrance. Vetiver is soo good like you wanna drink it. From two spreys you are set for a day. It's pushing really hard but not overpowering. Just right amount. People around you will like it. And for the last stage I get oakmoss but nothing like old school....so polished, soft and perfect. What a magic, transition is undetectable! This is what TF doesn't have! I have never experienced anything like this. Even after shower I get a fragrance on my skin. Throughout lifetime of the fragrance there is some spiciness the detactable I don't know what it is....but it's so damn good. One would say according to notes nothing special, all seen before. That true, but done like this....this is new! Even with 50ml bottle little goes a long way. You will probaly need only one bottle in you life. It's easy signature scent if you can get over the price.....I hope this fragrance will never get discontinued or reformulated. I wanna shake Roja hand for this one! Enjoy folks! I remember smelling Roja Dove Vetiver Parfum pour home a few years ago and I never forgot it. I’ve purchased numerous Vetiver fragrances thinking I would find something similar and the closest I found would be Commodity Vetiver and Tom Ford Vetiver. Both are beautiful but not as rich and smooth as Roja Dove. I finally ordered Roja Dove Vetiver Parfum pour homme and I’m in Vetiver heaven. Just like when I sampled it years ago, I can’t stop smelling myself. I probably have 5 or 6 Vetiver fragrances total and Roja is the classiest and the smoothest of all. This is something you wear when you are well dressed and ready to go out on the town. 10/10 on all levels

Wow, this is a fragrance that might make you become a Vetiver lover. This one is special. The scent is addicting. The bottle is Top Tier Posh Luxury, made with real Crystals. The opening is one of the best zesty, citrus, zing frags I have ever put my nose on. I did not realize how good of a not Vetiver is until I tried this fragrance. Vetiver is a such a good note. Now I'm looking to try other masterpieces like Chanel Dior Vetiver or the creation from Chanel, or Frederic Malle's Vetiver Extraordinaire. Amazing smelling version of Vetiver here, Roja makes the most luxurious Fragrances on planet earth.

Opens up with the Roja citruses, almost bombon realistic Lemon r there, earthy, woody, it's a different Vetiver Citrus, definitely has it's own stamp on it, a unique particular accord builds up somehow milky too amongst forest mossy. Pretty solid concentration but airy, doesn't crowd up like that, an elegant green scent, definitely an all purpose, silage works amazing outdoors. My go to's them special Vetivers like that, I would have to choose between the Roja and Sultan Vetiver and I can't, they're different enough to both be the top ones. Very pleased with the purchase, can't get enough of it!

Very good vetiver fragrance. Having said that, all subjective preferences/opinions aside, Vetiver Parfum is not worth a staggering full retail of $500+ USD. Guerlain Vetiver smells quite similar and can be had for a reasonable ~$70 USD. Differences between the two would be that Guerlain Vetiver has a tobacco note whereas Vetiver Parfum lacks tobacco and is heavy-handed on a guaiac note. Stop saying this smells identical to Tom Ford Grey Vetiver - the differences are there and they are noticeable. TF GV employs the use of a pimento pepper note which in my opinion is a bit odd.

Already earthy vetiver in the opening amongst the most amazing Roja citrus, it's got both the lively joy and the masculine java vetiver citrus accord, and due to everything else perfect receive the double up instead of the fifty fifty. Pour Homme difference, get further notes, unexpected later citrus rifts proper set up of scent before sight silage in them large museum mall types indoors as well tail end of winter sunny open air. Nuanced, fine points on and on as staying mainly vetiver.

It's not a bad Vetiver, however Roja himself said that usually vetiver fragrances are freshened up so much that you loose the smoky/earthy character of the vetiver! Same is here. The scent is not bad at all and it is very similar with TF-Grey Vetiver. I really expected a more original and deeper interpretation of this wonderful ingredient, cause I love it so much,but in this case.....even if I like it, I have to admit it's very plane and way too safe.

There are a lot of notes in this Vetiver - savory as well as sweet. I am a girl who loves to wear Vetiver. This is a very sophisticated Vetiver - dark, dense and full. After the dry down, this scent goes close to the skin. I purchased a sample of this from Luckyscent, and am on the edge as to whether this maybe slightly too sharp of a Vetiver for me to purchase a full bottle.

Scent - citrusy vetiver, rose & woods. Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night. Projection - I did get noticed, I didn't get a compliment. Longevity - I get 24hrs consistently.

This is £375 for 50ml? That's kinda ridiculous... for 100ml maybe... but 50ml? Bit of a piss-take. ** I bought a bottle - lol. Actually found the sample way more moreish than the bottle I now have - whatevs.

I love this one. It opens citrusy, but you can smell many layers till the Vetiver shows up. It's complex, elegant, well crafted. The only negative point is that it is subtle, but I don't care.

Earthy vetiver, lime, patchouli, cedarwood, basil. Gorgeously elegant but performance wise the same as the PC edition unfortunately.

Good good good. Great job by Roja, well done. One of the best vetiver forward scents on the market right now. 10/10.

I get a distinct Raid vibe before the dry down. That's not the ultimate in how a man should smell...

Anyone know how this compares to the cologne in terms of scent, longevity, etc???
