Suede

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one, as I'm not typically a big fan of leather frags - and this is big, butch & very leathery! The Initial blast is a very Smokey leather, that kinda slightly makes me think of bbq-ed meat! But that thought soon passes. Then I start smelling tobacco - which is reminds me of sniffing a cigarette packet. That all makes it sound horrendous, but it's actually amazing & I got a handful of compliments on this when I was trying my sample, which rarely happens. This isnt really the type of scent I'd usually go for, but I was sad when I used yp my samples, so I think I need a full bottle.

This is one potent fragrance. I'm not sure there can just be three notes as stated above. If so then all three are quite strong. I have to admit I really enjoy the combination. Smoke, tobacco and suede. I think there is a citrus top note as well. It develops in an interesting way. It opens with intense smoky suede and then settles down to lightly smoked tobacco and leather. I think there is also a wood note. Yes it's probably unisex but I'm not sure when I would want to smell of smoked hide. Fabulous for casual wear on a fella though. I get good longevity and sillage

Terrific and very different smell- starts out very smoky and leathery and then dries demon to a more subtle warm spice scent- very sophisticated- reminds me of Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford and Leather Oud by Dior both of which I love - if you like clean and fresh this won’t be for you but if you like sophisticated and sensual scents that you won’t smell everywhere then I highly recommend giving it a try If you are familiar with the True Grace collection of home scents then this is similar in style to Library

I like Rook's other fragrances, and I'm also a fan of leather and tobacco fragrances. However this is not for me. It kind of reminds me of an ashtray that has been left outside at a party. You wake up hungover realizing it's been raining all night, and of course you're left alone with all the cleaning. Then when you're done cleaning, and you're about to empty out the wet ashtray in to the garbage bag, some of it spills on your suede boots, which for some reason you chose to wear to this occasion. Frustrated by then stain of wet ashes on your boots you quickly rub it off and reluctantly smell the boots. This it what that stain smells like to me. Thanks for bringing back all kinds of memories though. I just don't see an occasion, that I would want to wear this. Well, maybe when I'm hungover and left alone with all the cleaning.

before I go into details I feel I must add that am a big fan of leather fragrances. Even the butch ones. Now this one is a strong one - what I get here is not the oily or woody aspect of leather but more of the aromatic, dry take on it. I believe this aromatic aspect may be the tobacco note, however, the tobacco here is not the sweet moist tobacco that you can sniff from the box until the eyes roll back to the head. More like the tobacco that can be sniffed from cigarettes. Am not totally disliking this one but there was a point where I could smell a wet dog for which notion I apologise for.

Thick, smokey, birch tar type of leather. Nowhere near the smooth Tuscan Leather/safraleine type or even the isobutyl quinoline fragrances of yore. This was too much for me, especially the opening - I guess not surprisingly. Reminded me of Le Labo Patchouli 24. I agree with the burnt bacon smell too. I have a small sample so I'll try it again. I hated many of my favourites first time round.

Sorry Rook, this is not the fragrance for me. Overwhelming wet suede (puzzled by the "dry" observation of a previous reviewer). Strong, strong wet suede with hardly anything else apparent. I hesitate to say wet dog because it isn't. It could be a pleasant smell if I was a leather fan - many people will adore this!

Wore this for the first time last night on a cold Autumn day. I own many leather based fragrances and have found that this is the most authenic,strong and natural. It has great projection and I can still smell it the next morning on my skin. It will become one of my regulars for this year and so pleased I bought this. Unmistakably masculine in my opinion and would give it a good 9 out of 10 in my ratings!

A convincing leather smell, but smooth and sophisticated with a discernible herbal aspect. Unlike, say, Montale’s dark Cuir d’Arabie (which can only operate at night with a leather jacket and jeans, I feel) this would work well as a daytime scent, and with formal attire. In brief, a faithful leather fragrance but with more versatility than most of the type. Definitely worth a punt.

This is insanely good. A leather jacket and fresh, drifting smoke (in the best way, nothing stale about it at all) Definitely totally unisex.It smells like I wanted Piguets Bandit to be on me (it wasn't) Marlene Dietrich would have loved this, so much. So would Ernest Hemingway.

Strong opening of birch and leather. After which it’s an incredibly soft smooth realistic and yet potent leather/suede scent. One of the best leather scents I’ve come across
