Undergrowth

This is just so lovely. Such a perfect refreshing, non-toothpaste like mint followed by petrichor and beautiful soil scents. Totally unisex imo. I love the way the patchouli-vetiver combo in the drydown is blended, those are both notes I enjoy and this somehow doesn't smell like either on its own but they're perfectly entwined. I've been hoarding my sample because I just can't afford a full bottle and unfortunately can't find decants anywhere. This lasts quite well on me too, with the forest floor smell lingering on skin all day and the herbal minty top notes lasting on fabric for an impressive amount of time. If anyone is looking to sell a bottle or decant, please let me know!

A really nice green and slightly earthy scent. It feels like spring time. The musk and orange sweeten and soften the Vetiver and mint. It is very well blended. The mint and orange sadly wain quite quickly (not surprising really) and now it feels very much down in the undergrowth. I'm a keen gardener and all too familiar with these smells. This is not a heavy and damp fragrance. It has an airiness but its not particularly a fresh scent. The soil tincture and musk hang in to the end. I get moderate sillage and longevity. It's a lovely scent for casual wear. Very unisex. If you love green and natural smelling scents then this is well worth trying. It's half price at the moment!

I stumbled across Undergrowth by searching the soil tincture note on here, in a vague hope I'd find a slightly more budget friendly version of Zoologists Bat. This & bat do share the same glorious damp soil quality, but they're very different. I trally like this & got a full bottle, its so bright and fresh, it smells like you are gardening on a warm sunny spring morning and digging into a mint patch. Theres a strong crisp leafy mint, dewy grass ontop of that glorious dark damp soil and roots. This stays relatively the same on me, although the mint does mellow and it becomes a bit more 'rooty'.

Very intense and long lasting spearmint, a little reminiscent of Orbit chewing gum in a good way. Some resin notes. I don't get a lot of the mandarin. On my skin it is mostly dry with hints of sweetness and very grounded, although usually mint perfumes evolve into a chemically clean direction. Very positively surprised

I love this perfume, the minty notes with the grass accords are a perfect match. It is very unique smelling and doesn't compare to anything I've smelled before. It is quite polarising (my dad hates it but he is in to old barbershop smells only) but I find that most people are drawn to it - for me it is a strong 5/5

this one amazed me upon 1st sniff, starts out with a realistic fresh mint note then the soil comes through, again a realistic soil note! imagine all the smells you would encounter gardening, this is that bottled! fantastic job!

Loving gardening and mint I was really excited when I heard about this - what an original idea! I was happy when I first put this fragrance on, smelling the soil (yes, really), soft musky woodiness, and a hint of mint, but 15 minutes lates it evolves on me into a slightly uncomfortable garden mix. Now, rather than gently weeding in the mint bed I feel like I'm seriously earth moving along with creosoting (the old stuff) the garden fence. The vetiver seems harsher. The mint is no longer fresh and something hits the back of my throat leaving a suspicion of mint sauce. Despite all of that I actually do really like the smell but I'm not sure that I want to smell like this. I'm persevering

Very lovely, menthol and mint, a bit grassy, perhaps some ginger? I think this an odd one, but completely wearable and low key, understated. I associate this with a misty forest, a cool day, cloudy, ground wet with fallen leaves. To some there might be a medicinal association because of the menthol, or perhaps a natural mouthwash with the mint, but it really is much better than that. It reminds me of no other scent I've tried, just an oddity that is refreshing and natural.

Mint and camphor punch through at the start, drying down to an earthy, faintly musky base. This was between a "like" and "love" for me. If it lasted longer, I'd have gone with love. But with 15 sprays in one application, and still nothing left to detect after 6 hours, I lean towards "like." Very natural and quality fragrance. Not a safe blind buy, but would strongly recommend to anyone who appreciates green, minty, earthy fragrances.

serenity and nature is associations that I get from this fragrance. I had my initial reservations due to the soil note but pushed those aside as I love vetiver and I'm glad I did. highly recommended for anyone who likes green and natural smelling fragrances.

Smells like pine resin and pine needles, the forest floor under white pine trees. Not especially summery or frosty, just pine and soil and fleeting hints of mint. Can't comment on the longevity yet, I just put it on.

Smells exactly like Forest (also from Rook) but with mint. Unique enough to be engaging, but if you’re really experienced with perfumes it’s really nothing super special. It’s just minty wood.

This more or less smells like what it's called. Personally I prefer to just go out in to nature and smell that. But if you're stuck indoors all day and want to feel like you've been outside this is pretty good for it. If I could trade it for Suede though...I would.

Very very strong dark minty in the opening. As the mint cools down I pick up the earthiness the perfumer was going for with the soil tincture and some smokiness I’m assuming would be from the vetiver with some musk.

Blast with the herbal, green mint with its cooling effect(menthol) and slightly spicy sweetness. Together with the soil tincture note and vetiver, the mint almost fools me to think about some aspects of a clean, airy patchouli. It's damp and earthy, reminds me of walking through the camphor woods after a heavy rain in a cool summer day, a mixed scents of soaked woods and wet soil. Once the scent drys down, the mint draws back a bit to let the vetiver show more. The vetiver used here are more in style of the note used in Terre d'Hermes, Timbuktu and Private Label rather than say, Guerlain Vetiver, Grey Vetiver or Encre Noir. The vetiver shows more of its owe aroma instead of being smoky, dry and paper like smell. (Personally I prefer the latter aspects of the note) It provides a fuller body to the fragrance, preventing the scent falling flat. I won't say the fragrance became a vetiver dominant scent though, as all 3 notes works well together, vetiver in the core, radiating its multi-facets aroma through the soil tincture note that dusts the scent a little bit of dirt and finally the mint wraps up as an out layer, keeping the scent cool and refreshing like splashing some water. It's a very smart conceptualised and structured scent: you can smell the root(vetiver) of a plant growing through the earth(soil tincture) and its leaves and sterns(mint) that just being watered. Before I smelt it I'd imaging the scent to be a lot more bitter, darker and mossier with a retro vibe. On contrary, it's fresh and bright yet down to the earth. A pretty natural smelling scent. Very decent offerings from this brand.

Undergrowth creates a light, green and fresh atmosphere that is great for studying and work! You already outside, in the mountain or the woods? You don't need it. But who needs perfume in the middle of nature anyway. In some way it feels simple: It smells like grass with a touch of mint. But it also evokes season and memories. It smells like cold stream water running in the woods in spring. Soon everything will come to life. The soil tincture makes it a bit earthy dirty in the beginning, but it fades. I will certainly think about buying it, although I usually go for perfumes with better projection. Projection here is intimate/moderate, but longevity is quite good.

I really love this but then again I absolutely love mint in perfumery so it was always going to be a like at worst, however Undergrowth is top tier perfumery in my opinion, beautiful minty forest like scent with a pleasent and approachable musky base, the artistry is in the earthy notes that keep the whole fragrance very organic and natural , yep a big winner this one, will suit vacations and nice sunny days.

Smells like twilight:, lots of peppermint and galbanum in an airy mix, then tomato leaves come in with a mint coolness without the mint notes, wood like a snapped green branch, and in drying down, it becomes forest bark, with a cinnamonesque edge. Full dry down 7 hours later is a soapy green skin scent. Really love this one.

Imagine the acrid smoke and smolder of a peaty whiskey and the antiseptic minty chlorinated burn of an off-brand mouthwash. Now stir up those stinging, eye-watering fumes with a half-melted lime freezy pop. Gosh. This is bafflingly terrible.

This really does smell like undergrowth. The smell of weeding your garden, soil and foliage, a frolic in the woods. Big at first, but after a couple of hours it dies down to a generic perfumy smell. I wish it lasted forever.
