Electric Wood

Sampling Room 1015 Electric Wood EDP, a 2015 release, one of the house’s very few first releases, a sharp, spicy, woody mix that’s as charged as its name suggests. The note listing is fascinating to the point that it merits sharing in its entirety, I think—nutmeg, lemon, sage, cedar, oak, ambroxan, iris, musk. It’s fresh, has a curious spicy / herbal mix, with a musky quality that leaves it midway between rough and smooth, in a good way. A very interesting blend that I could see one wearing a lot or saving for special occasions, not too heady or dense to be challenging in warm weather but nonetheless striking me as something better reserved for cooler days and evenings, with very good performance, overall. It seems like Electric Wood EDP is still fairly widely sold but with less availability than the newer Extrait, released in 2025, to the point that I cannot confirm the EDP’s retail pricing, but it seems to be $184/125 for 100/50ml, and is sold via the house site and great boutiques like Perfumology. 8 out of 10

This one brings me such joy. I have a 10ml vial and as soon as I can, I'm getting a full bottle. It's both soft and edgy, and relaxing in an odd way. I definitely understand the idea of it smelling like a new guitar. It's a very airy woody scent. Almost like woodshavings while you're sanding a new floor or doing renovations (without the gross paint and chemical smells in the room of course). It's unisex but perfectly so. I wouldn't say it's masculine or feminine leaning at all. It's just what it is. There's a lovely sweetness to it that mixes so well with my skin. It's lasting power is great. It's not a beast at all purely because of it's overall feeling of softness, but it lasts for sure. I've smelled it on me the day after initially spraying it. I absolutely love this one. In my opinion, it's worth the price (which isn't horrendous either, just as a broke student I've I've waiting on it lol)

This is my second bottle of electric wood! If you like fragrances like Bergamot 22 or Dyptique Tam Dao, you will absolutely LOVE this one. Proper use of ambroxian gives it a masculine touch, not overdone like boring Suavage. To sum it up, this is a hidden gem, it’s a perfect mix of citrus, wood, and warm electric guitar 🎸 it’s dry, dusty, sexy, and makes me happy each time I spray up. I love niche perfumery! I wear this any time of the year, it will go with any season and occasion.

I love bold yet comforting fragrances. I've tested this one for a few weeks off and on, and I love it. Loved it, couldn't place exactly why... Until today... This smells like a cedar chest filled within wonderful, nostalgic memories from my childhood. The cedar is obvious, no doubt, but it is more rich than plain ole cedarwood. All of the notes blended together bring comfort, nonspecific happy memories with family. This is a fragrance for me to enjoy.

This fragrance is absolutely gorgeous. Such a smooth wood and iris scent. The resins give this fragrance a gorgeous backbone. I think the resins are either Benzoin and or Myrhh. Last around 7 to 9 hours and projects for 2-3 hours. Please get your nose on this bad boy. I think you will be truly amazed by how good a Cedar and Iris combo can smell. I don't think this smells like a guitar at all, but, it is one hell of a gorgeous resinous men's fragrance.

I'm sorry but I love this stuff. It reminds me of a ashed dry version of bergomont 22. I mean I know woody citrus are all over the place but this makes me feel so confident when I wear it. It's definitely a compliment getter and I notice quality when it's present. I am very glad to have this in my collection. I will edit this review in a month when I get a few more wearings with it ;) great great great fragrance, sample it and you will see.

I absolutely love this fragrance! I’m a guitar player and when I read it smell like opening a guitar case I had to try it. It’s wonderful! It does smell like my acoustic guitar on steroids. I like to combine it with Lattafa Rouge and Le Labo Hinoki wood body cream. I get compliments all the time. I’ve spent a very long time trying to find a signature scent and I do believe I’ve found it. I recommend giving it a try.

It starts off with a masculine blast of woody notes, and after that, it morphs into a warm iris and amber drydown that is incredibly sexy. In fact, it could very well be the best drydown I've encountered so far. Sillage and longevity - perfect! Not too loud, not to soft. I can wear Electric Wood to work and to nice dinners.

I don't get ANY of these negative, or even so-so, reviews. In my opinion this stuff is phenomenal. Well over 12 hours of longevity. And a good few hours of projection. Completely versatile. This stuff is just a do it all scent. Woodsy, spicy, bright, fresh, sweet, it's got it all.

Great scent. An effervescent woody sweet spicy scent done right! Could’ve been amazing IF they would’ve improved the longevity and silliage. As is, one of my favorite scents that I won’t buy a full bottle of (have a decant) due to performance

A dry, clean, unisex wood that starts out quite crisp and zingy, then quickly softens to a slightly musky and powdery finish. Where Santal 33 turns slightly mouldy on me, this goes more soft and sweet. Definitely a signature.

Yes! Strong cedar in the opening, then mixes really nicely with the iris and nutmeg. A warm, dark, woody and really nice fragrance. Mostly masculine, but can probably be amazing on the right woman.

A niche, futuristic and woody version of Dior Homme. Quite nice. I get great longevity and projection.

Smelled this at a shop for niche perfumes in Prague and kept going back to it, eventually spraying it on my hand. I took home a sample and have had it on for an entire day now. It's got great longevity, and it's ALMOST a great unisex scent. It really does smell like what its story evokes - heavily used guitars. This is a warm scent for cold weather, and it manages to smell both nostalgic and a bit edgy without being terribly offensive or headache inducing. However, on me there's a note that emerges about an hour in that keeps it from being great, and I suspect it's maybe the Ambroxan. It's metallic, and metallic scents simply don't work on me. They make me think of old tooth fillings! It's just too sharp. While I love a contrast in a perfume, and the metallic does indeed contrast with all that warm wood, it just isn't right on my skin. I'll enjoy my sample I'm sure, but won't purchase a full. If you can pull off a metallic note, give this one a go.

This used to be my most prized possession in my early cologne collecting days. I tried so hard, with so much difficulty, to force this to be "the one". Now though, the underperformance of this fragrance has become so apparent that the scent and projection that once drew me so closely now repels me. This cologne lacks substantial projection, longevity, and overall appeal. It might be a nice scent, but it sure isn't a sensual one. Others may find a surprising amount of harshness in the alcohol-scent, but I believe that it has a lesser-than-quaint smell. It doesn't smell terrible inherently, but as one's palette grows, so does their taste. Definitively, Room 1015's Electric Wood is a perfect cologne for those who are looking to enter the world of niche perfumery, and are looking to smell like a bourbon drinker's classy instrument for about thirty minutes. Mostly the last part though.

This might be my favorite from Room 1015. No citrus, but a fresh opening for a woody perfume. Nothing dark or heavy about this gem! It's a beautifully balanced scent, perfect year round, but excellent for summer.. I'm not fanciful enough to smell "guitar" from this, having owned a few in my day. But I DO smell fresh, woody and a touch of something floral as it dries down. Really nice. Unisex. Good performance. Lasts a long time on clothes. Gets compliments too. Leaves a very nice trail for hours. ------ I'm the layering type..just for fun. And, if you want to smell something really great, layer this with Chanel's Chance EDP...it's amazing together. Make sure it's the O.G. Chance, not a flanker.

So far, I really like this juice. Like a few others have said, it's almost like a lemon/citric woodsy scent profile, even though there's no citrus in this at all, according to the note breakdown. I'm guessing it's the cedar, and yet it doesn't give Electric Wood that barbershop feel that cedar often gives. To me, this fragrance falls into the same genre as Nassomatto Pardon and Guy Fox Palmer -- dominantly woody. That said, I give Electric Wood a like and not a love because even though I enjoy the scent, I can see myself getting tired of it quickly.

I can’t hide my disappointment. When I saw this was an ambroxan heavy scent, I couldn’t help but give it a test. Unfortunately, this isn’t my type of warm/musky/ambery ambroxan. Although the scent itself is not bad - it’s certainly not something I see myself wearing. It’s a creamy-wood scent. Upon first spray, I was immediately reminddd of bois 1920 relativamente rosso - another scent that is full and almost syrupy. For those chasing the molecule 02 ambroxan feel, this will not satisfy. Again, not a bad scent - but not for me. 5/10

I really enjoy this one! I have a lot of sweet fragrances in my collection, so this is a nice balance and change of pace. I really pick up the cedar and resin notes and it really does smell like an acoustic guitar to my nose! My partner absolutely loves it (as someone who collects guitars, not fragrances) and the lasting power is really fantastic with both of our body chemistries. Big thumbs up on this one. Very grounding scent!

It's not masculine on me. It lives up to its name, smells like lightning struck nearby, but not too close. Sweetly resinous and woody, I can quickly smell what I assume is iris, or a powdery floral. I have a love/like relationship with this perfume, heh. Why is it different every time I wear it? Sometimes it has the most amazing sweet, faint electric opening, other times it's just been nice.

I really like how well blended resins, cedar, and iris are blended. There’s a hint of spice and the woodiness is very sweet to my nose. It's really nice and inoffensive and —to me— a perfect unisex. I don’t “love” it like I love Love-o-Matic, Jasmine Freak, and Sonic Flower, but I do really like it as a cool weather everyday scent.

Cedro, legno di cedro e iris. Fresco, legnoso, balsamico, gradevole, convenzionale. Mi ricorda il superclassico Cedre Serge Lutens. Nulla di innovativo. Un soffio di vento in una cedraia a primavera. Rasserenante e semplice. Una bellezza sobria e naturale. Comunque nulla di elettrico o elettrizzante.

This is like a milder Eilish no.2. Very unique, unisex and could be a safe blind buy. It also in a way smells like sweat? But it’s in a way that just works and you follow through with it, y know? I’ve also ‘character matched’ this perfume to Star-lord from Guardians of The Galaxy!

Soft, clean, woody scent. Quite restrained; good for the office. While it's woody, it doesn't give "forest" to me. Both the oak and cedar are delicately blended with the resins. There's an almost papery character.

Nice woody scent. Woody, powdery, and slightly resinous. It becomes skin scent too soon. I wish it would project a bit longer. Not that they are similar but reminds me Tam Dao EDP. Leaning masculine to my nose.

It smells like its name, wood forest greeny situatuion. It's linear and safe to blind buy and def unisex, all occasion and season. Nothing loud or hit you in the face but nothing special, it's good and clean

It is wood and some spice. it's okay but nothing special, it is well-made to that is a plus. Nice and safe choice for essentially everything. It deserves more love than it is getting.

I’m confused by both this fragrance and the reviews it gets... This is a huge dose of powdery purple flowers with a touch of ambroxan and *maybe* a whisper of cedar but only after it dries. I’ve smelled real cedar stumps for woodworking and this does not come off as very heavily woody like it suggests it’s going to by describing a new guitar in it’s case. If you want like... legit just a cedar tree... go smell Dylan by Rose Jane. This isn’t woody or dark enough for me. My husband and I are both musicians and he owns a ton of guitars so I know what the smell of a new guitar in a case is and it’s not this. Not even close. He agreed with me that this doesn’t give that vibe. He says this smells like vintage shaving cream to him. So if you enjoy powdery purple flowers, this might be a winner for you. It was a disappointment for me.

Unique concept that smells amazing - in the bottle. On me, it dried down oddly snot-like, sort of thick and overpowering. Someone mentioned that it smells like it has an animalic note, and I can’t help but agree. Really love the idea though, which I think they’ve managed to ‘capture’ in a scent. The longevity and sillage are good as well, as the perfume does last quite long.

Smells alright. Not as woody as the notes would suggest. On me it is much more citrusy than anything. Smells more like a wood cleaner than wood itself.

The minute I applied this something hit me that I rarely smell--don't know if it is the ambroxan or the type of resins used. Anyway, points for being unusual. But I echo the comments about it smelling "screechy" and harsh. I would not buy this. It is interesting, and it somehow brings to mind being in a music studio surrounded by guitars... I'm sure the name is part of that image. That's a place I'd love to be, but I don't wanna live with this fragrance.

opens woody and then (i don’t understand how) this dries down very sweet & powdery on me (is it the iris???) almost to the point of opening a bag of powdered sugar and taking a big whiff. i don’t understand how it’s pulling so sweet but it’s not for me. i was hoping for something much more woody throughout the whole fragrance & unisex to spicy.

I really don't like this. Too woody. This is supposed to be for women? Ehhhh, no? Really. No. I bought a sample online because people were raving. Was not cheap either. I will gift it to someone at work..

this errs a little too woody and smoky for me. warm and dark, like sitting in an old parlor room with the fire going. also gets a bit of a soapy scent as it dries down. not the worst, not my favorite.

Not good. Screechy, harsh woods, no amber, no resins, just some masculine piercing woodsiness that could be found in most drugstore men's colognes...I am disappointed.

Too much cedar!!! very nauseating.

This is really bad on my skin. It smells like moss...like autumn leaves in the rain that have been really soaked and are dirty...like dried smoke leaves but it's a really heavy smell. I really can't see this one as a female fragrance and it's very strange because amber and wood would usually work very nice on me. Cherry punk for now is unbeatable.

Honestly kind of revaulting to me. The first second i smelt it was nice but the second sniff i get this super strong pungent like rotten woodish outdoor smell. Closest thing i can relate it to is an old gross wood house. Would not enjoy smelling this again.

If you hate a strong ambroxan opening, this one is not for you. It makes me gag.

A musky woody mess. Not attractive at all

Sex, drugs and Rock & Roll! 70's rock culture and band debauchery is the unconventional theme of this perfume house. Their site is filled with nostalgia about the trashing of hotel rooms - LA's Hyatt Rm. 1015 was the most wrecked of all - and finding the Stairway to Heaven. Each scent has it's own music piece, with Dr. Mike Partouche, the founder, in a voice over describing the fragrance and inspiration. A vintage Gibson guitar inspired Electric Wood, and Dr. Mike has a cherished bottle signed by Alice Cooper! The description of notes in Electric Wood is filled with images like "sexual thrash", "an injection right past into the veins", electric shock. Anne-Sophie Behaghel and Amelie Bourgeois are the creators of this scent. They made a couple for other houses that are on my current Top 10 list, and EW is more proof of their talent. It has a gorgeous cedar accord with aromatic spices, resins, and a touch of powdery iris. To my delight longevity was all day. The cedar blend rose from my skin and clothes all afternoon, garnering compliments from several at a luncheon. Loved wearing it, and think this house's best inspiration was to get them as their noses. As a rocker in love with fragrance, Dr. Mike takes us on a trip down music memory lane, with perfumes to bring the experience into focus. Not unlike BeauFort London with their nautical history concept, or Parfums Quartana with their poisonous flowers. Cool, fun, well executed - both the house and the perfume!

This fragrance is rock n roll. The brand says the scent was inspired by electric guitars, and Electric Wood definitely conveys that sense. I got Electric Wood at the same time I got Skylar's Fall Cashmere. It was interesting to encounter them both together. They have a lot in common but they are definitely not interchangeable. Where Fall Cashmere leans feminine, Electric Wood is unisex to masculine. Both are woody scents, ideal for fall, but where Fall Cashmere is reminiscent of home, food, and comfort, Electric Wood is edgy and atmospheric. Fall Cashmere is oversized sweaters and couches, where Electric Wood is leather jackets and barstools. There is something just a touch *off* about Electric Wood, but I think that's what makes it interesting and sexy, and makes me keep sniffing my wrists. As others have noted, there is a sharpness to it, but for me this is a positive - it's the bite of electricity that makes this scent feel distinctively "plugged in."

Wow, no. Screaming wood alcohol. Is it the ambroxan that is doing this? WTF? A huge sharp wood scent with nothing else in it that I can detect under the loud alcohol edge. Will totally work for other people but argh argh argh. My sister also tried it and got that screamy harsh wood with the alcohol tinge plus a nasty animalic body note. I just don’t understand what other people are smelling. Another day, I soaked my hand til it dripped and there was less scream and more citrus wood, which was very nice, with tang and pepper. I was liking it then but the screamy alcohol came back on dry down and killed it dead. Nobody liked this in the end. One day I will find out what note it is that smells like I've poured rubbing alcohol over my arm; it might be chemistry as no one else seems to get it but me, but I can say this is a loud wood scent, no matter what. If there are other notes, they don't have a chance on my skin.

Electric Wood opening turned me a strange, creamy and very woodsy both. Amber appears from the beginning part of this cocktail supporting the cedar and huge amounts of ambroxan that qualify towards a musky drying. Neutralizes well iris note it brings a touch dusty balancing the rest of notes and to give that electrical effect comes into play a citrus note left in the background Electric Wood makes you feel very predictable, pleasant and wearable. The duration is moderate and light sillaje. Expect to find the sound that gives off an electric guitar in a heavy metal macro concert, but Electric Wood looks more like a ukulele with a rope touched in a 2x2m room. Rating: 3

As I lay on my bed in a light-filled room on a peaceful Sunday morning, I'm testing samples as much there is "perfume parking space" on my skin. Today, Electric Wood is the one I most keep returning to. Its woody, resinous opening is bold and attractive. The woody freshness teams up with nutmeg and, gradually, makes room for a delicately ambery impression. However this perfume is woody through and through and it stays true to its name. Long lasting, more on the masculine side, moderate projection. I received this sample from Dr Mike himself and he's a rocker to the core, no doubt about that.

Very similar to By Kilian's Apple Brandy. Woods and iris are threaded together for an approachable aroma. Not big in terms of sillage and projection instead, it's restrained and stylish. Super oaky, with vanilla, toast and wood spice. The iris gives it a dusty coating that carries the sweetness through the drydown. Although i would deem this a decent smelling fragrance, I would also add that it lacks the proverbial "electricity" that's found in standard niche perfumery. A little on the simple side and has the ability to be somewhat boring after a while.

This fragrance has serious wow factor!!! I smell soooo many perfumes and buy so many samples, and this is that one in every one hundred where I am shocked by how unique and enjoyable it is. It's both fresh and earthy/woody, which makes it both sexy and very wearable. I feel like this is the kind of scent that gets you stopped on the street. It's very intriguing, and the cool name doesn't hurt! to understand my style, I wear Gypsy Water and Ambre oils, scents with a masculine tilt that can be worn by a woman yet still fresh and non-offensive.

I thought that because I liked Cherry Punk Extrait de parfum I might like this one. I do not! The opening came off like cheap chocolate and soap which then evolved into sweetened wood plank and cardboard. The powderiness started coming through with the nutmeg, which was then joined at the end with something nutty. It has something of a Replica Jazz Club vibe. But I'm not a fan of that one either. I guess that if you're into the scent of wood for the sake of wood, this could be for you. All I know is that it's not for me.
