Ten Fifteen

So you all must’ve really gotten to them with that whole longevity and projection whining, ’cause they straight-up killed it. The most intelligent, most stylish fragrance in the lineup. Gone. Discontinued. Axed like a cult TV character the writers didn’t know how to handle anymore. I went to buy another bottle and ran straight into nothingness. No product page. No explanation. I hissed. Still mad about it. On paper, this should be a hard no. Powdery? Iris? Don’t provoke me. And yet. The opening has no business being this good. Mandarin and saffron. Brightness walks in first. Darkness answers half a second later. Mandarin is juicy but soft, never sharp, never screechy, nothing like lemon or bergamot doing their usual cleaner-aisle routine. Then saffron shows up and flips the mood completely. Dry, leathery, metallic-spiced. Warm but deeply unimpressed with you. People swear there’s leather in here. There isn’t. Saffron’s just lying convincingly. There’s also that quick peppery snap: white pepper, or pink pepper with all the fruitiness ripped out. Saffron behaving like this is just badass. Florals are where things usually fall apart for me. And iris almost *always* loses me. Except here, it doesn’t. Violet saves it. The violet in this one is sheer, chilled, almost silvery. Nothing sunny or friendly about it. It disappears, comes back, disappears again. Ghosty, decidedly goth. 🥀 Yeah, there’s a powdery feel from the iris-violet pair, but it’s cosmetic coldness rather than anything stale or dusty. The drydown is where Ten Fifteen calmly outclasses the entire room. Creamy, milky sandalwood holds the base, with papyrus standing out against it, dry and faintly smoky. Almost inky. Papyrus also brings that plastic-adjacent note that throws people off. Not cheap trash plastic. Design plastic. Matte vinyl. The smell of wearing leather and dancing to The Sisters of Mercy in some obscure, smoke-heavy club in Berlin, where nobody smiles and everyone looks hot in a threatening way. ⛓️ Cold weather fragrance, sure, but it’s flexible. Day, night, bars, dates, emotional standoffs after midnight. It just works. It’s also oily, so spray carefully unless chaos and grease stains are part of your brand. Gender-wise? It laughs at gender. And yes, it’s weak. Projection is intimate. It sits close. I don’t care. Somewhere along the way, I stopped worshipping performance and started admiring character. If a scent has atmosphere and a real edge, volume is irrelevant. Loud perfumes are for people who clap when the plane lands. The bottle is perfect. Round. Black. Slick. Black trench coat energy in glass. No notes. 🖤 Btw, no, comparisons to Somebody Wood are not it. Not unfair, but still mostly wrong. Ten Fifteen is darker, richer, more deliberate. More intense without being heavier. More elevated. Full stop. Somebody Wood tries to be cool. Ten Fifteen just is. From the name alone, Ten Fifteen was clearly meant to be the house’s signature. So unless Room 1015 comes back with Ten Fifteen Redux, same scent, better longevity, this decision gets a permanent side-eye. Some things just need to be left the hell alone. Ten Fifteen was cool. That should’ve been enough. ✦ 5/5.

The narrative behind the fragrance is a trashed hotel room, a symbol of uninhibited passion and the often chaotic creativity associated with the rock 'n' roll scene." - note from the brand [parfumexquise.com] this perfume really surprised me. i didn't know what to expect because room 1015 could appear trendy if you don't detect immediately the rock n roll sort of vibes and atmosphere that these perfumes are about, but you for sure will pick up on it the moment this perfume is sprayed. this reminds me of a world that seems a bit Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a bit Cool World, those who are willing to take a chance on a vision where avant-garde and romanticism take over, this is one of those types of fragrances. 🖤💋💿 complex and multilayered, this fragrance has become an overnight favorite with an oddly seductive initial experience that's both unique and, like most of my absolute faves, slightly bizarre and off-putting, in this instance because i doubt any person who found this niche perfume wouldn't find it to smell like an underground bar. the mandarin orange and saffron do not smell like a fruity floral combination. instead what i smell is a rock n roll sort of dive bar with lots of fabric type of smells like latex, vinyl, etc. mellows down to a really nice violet and iris which many times could smell like the beach or woody to me but here it softens up the fragrance and adds a makeup sort of scent so although this perfume is unisex, i find it leans more feminine. then after the drydown, you pick up the animalic sandalwood notes and it's pretty addictive. i freakin really like this perfume and i am so interested now to smell the others from room 1015 but this is definitely a signature fragrance for me now. absolutely intoxicating. 🖤

Okay, I know, everybody just wants Cherry Punk, which is great, don't get me wrong, I love my bottle, but as far as I'm concerned, this is the hidden gem of the house. Sampled them all in Paris, was actually looking for and expecting to love Electric Wood, because of the notes and everything I'd heard about it. Glad I didn't blind buy that one because it was just okay to me, didn't love it like I expected to. I actually wasn't very interested in this one, but actually Fragrantica is to blame, because the notes list here is far from complete. If you read the notes on the Room 1015 website, you can actually pick up on all of them, so pretty sure they're accurate. Head Note: Saffron, Mandarin Heart Note: Iris, Violet Base Note: Sandalwood, Papyrus, Gaïac Wood So I casually sniffed this one real quick, just to have smelled all of them and it was LOVE at first scent. What a beautiful, wonderful fragrance! It's the softest, most elegant, powdery woods. A little bit of that play-doh / vintage plastic doll smell is definitely there in the opening, but it blossoms into this cloud of fluffy, mysterious elegance. The papyrus (at least I think it's the papyrus) gives it a slight nuance of mustiness and for some reason there is something incredibly nostalgic about this. It's the fragrance I never knew I always wanted! Straight onto my top shelf! Why is this flying under the radar?! Don't sleep on this people, this is arguably the most beautiful fragrance in their entire catalogue. Longevity is indeed limited. Maybe three hours or so, but the sillage (it does project!) is so pretty, it's totally worth it. A perfect fragrance for an intimate setting or an evening on the couch. What a masterpiece! I will always keep a bottle of this around.

A friend of mine gave me samples from her room 1015 discovery set, so I tried it randomly first. I didn’t know neither the brand, nor the notes and honestly, I grimaced. Thought “oh my god, what a sick smothering smell”. And then, well, I sprayed it not particularly neatly on the blotter, so even after some time there was this smell around and I started to reconsider. You know when you like something but recognise it’s morbid? That’s the feeling this perfume gives me. First of all this concept of rock-n-roll/hotel room/opium haze is a total miss for me. Maybe I’ve never found myself in such environments. Well, I did and it smelled not exactly like this. Whatever. My point is that to me it smells like this: The 90s, Far North. You’re about 6 years old. You’re in a hospital room to visit your relative. The lamps are warm, it’s warm inside, radiators are painted with thick oil colour. It’s winter twilight outside, biting frost. Your aunt is there. She’s young and rich. She isn’t pretty or well mannered. But she has this enormous fur coat generously sprayed with her favourite sick sweet perfume. The room faintly smells of iodine and gauze. It looks cosy on the surface: you’re a careless child, the warmth, the light, the family is there with you. But this medical smell nudges the corner of your mind where death lives. It’s been there since you were born. Maybe after 6 years the veil between the worlds is still thin. The death is watching you. You’re watching the death. All in all I can’t tell if this perfume is objectively good. But I love it. Received my 10ml version today, can’t make bigger commitments, unfortunately. Enjoying it greatly. In a morbid way though.

Oh, this is lovely. Extremely powdery in the best way. It’s so subtle, close to the skin, but it creates your own little bubble where you can smell it all the time. Honestly, it doesn’t project much, but if someone gets close, they’ll definitely notice it. Performance is Ok but I value the fragance itself too. It’s very neat, clean, and sophisticated. I don’t mind the low projection because this is the kind of fragrance you wear for yourself. It’s enjoyable, with personality, and kind of unique. There’s something mystical and comforting about this one that makes me not want to stop smelling myself. It has a Middle Eastern vibe perfumery, but in a subtle and well-made way, and I think that's bc to the saffron. The top note of saffron is strong at first, but it eventually settles into a velvety blend of violet and iris, with the powdery, clean feeling of guaiac wood (kind of smoky-ish but slightly) This is one of my favorites in my collection, and I’d wear it all year round, except for summer, unless I'm indoors. I wouldn’t wear it during outdoor activities in hot weather. It’s perfect for day or night, and it’s totally unisex. Room 1015 has some very interesting perfumes. I bought my bottle after sampling it in their discovery set. It's definitely worth trying the discovery set. They offer unique, high-quality fragrances at a reasonable price.

Ten Fifteen is this subtle yet sophisticated perfume that melts into "your skin but woodier" scent. It's built mostly around a really smooth sort of sandalwood but then has these extra facets to it: a rooty and powdery iris, creaminess, subtle florals. I find it to be extremely well blended. It's the scent of a grown up cool kid. One of those perfumes that you can just throw on and it works - be it for work, a date or a party. Is it hardcore, rule breaking or avant garde? Nope, but I do find it sophisticated and elevated and as a grown up kid who hopes they're still a lil cool I'm alright with that. It's unisex in an androgynous way. I can also see it working in all seasons (unless you really lean towards freshies for the summer but I live in a very moderate climate which doesn't really vibe with aquatics or exotic fruit). The sillage is intimate, yes, but that scent stayed on me for at least 5-6 hours when my skin tends to eat up perfumes known for being beastmode so I was truly surprised to learn about the issues other people have had with Ten Fifteen's performance.

Think this is absolutely lovely. Room 1015's other fragrances didn't blow me away, and despite the ethos of the brand not matching my personality at all and finding the packaging and bottle fairly boring I couldn't stop thinking about this scent. Almost certainly going to finish my 10ml and order a full bottle. Really really wish the silage was stronger and it lasted a bit longer. I have to either really over-apply or get very intentionally close to the areas I apply it to smell anything. Yet I love the smell so much and often look like a crazy person in public smelling my wrists. Can't think of to many things i've smelled quite like this. The Saffron top note carries the paper-y musk-y so elegantly and feels like the perfect balance of generic feminine sandalwood floral stuff (which I admittedly love) and more complicated, masculine skin and musk notes. First review i've ever written for a fragrance! Will be using this for a long time.

This takes you back to 1985, sitting on a grey carpet next to a glass coffee table that's adorned by a tall, slender black glass vase filled with violets. You pick up your Cabbage Patch doll by the cotton yarn hair and dangle its feet in front of your nose so you can huff that gross yet oddly addictive plastic diaper shoe smell. You get dizzy from the hit and sit back and zone out on the light and dark contrast of the Venetian blinds reflecting on the glass in front of you and obscuring the visual of Days of our Lives on the 150 lb television. Your Mom is listening to Huey Lewis and the News in the kitchen while she slices lemons for her mid day G&T. While the experience is objectively bizzare and impersonal, you find yourself wrapped in a warm, quilted kimono of soothing aesthetic nostalgia.

This is the older brother, Phlur Somebody Wood is the little brother, Snif Me is the baby sister. Wearing all three together is heaven. I adore this scent profile. Ten Fifteen is freshly cut wood, smooth and aromatic without the use of herbs. There is a mild sweetness and a creamy powderyness to it, but nothing distinct in scent... rather texture. I see mixed reviews about performance, but i have zero issues. This lasts days on clothes and a full workday on skin, projecting for most of the day at different strengths. I have Somebody Wood and Me, so I wasn't sure if I needed a full bottle of this, but seeing as though I've been wearing my decant non-stop since I got it, I think the answer is clear.

As soon as I smelled this, it smelled so familiar like I have something like this in my collection and I was right. It smells very similar to Somebody Wood by Phlur. TF is less sweet than SW. I'd say SW lasted longer on my skin which was surprising given the price difference. I do think it's redundant to have both of these, BUT SW is a signature of mine so I'm keeping it. Plus, the bottles are rad. Edit: The only difference I can tell is in TF it gets leathery in the dry down, but not animalic. It's subtle and smooth. Unisex.

This is just soooo nice. I wore it for at least 10 times now. (I own more than 70 bottles, and tend to use this one quite frequently.) Saffron is not listed here as a note, but it is mostly saffron and orange that I pick up. The saffron is so cosy, soft and sexy at the same time. The orange peel make it fresher and overall is well-made. Jerome Epinette knows how to make fragrances, well done again, indeed! Longevity is 4-5 hoours (not much) and the sillage is soft, which means that it can be worn all year round.

I went to sephora and ended up smelling the perfumes like I always do and came across "Somebody Wood" from Phlur and was immediately reminded of this fragrance. But there's something leatherier about Ten Fifteen compared to SW. It's muskier, in a way, but mellows out with the iris and violet which I really, really enjoy. Plus, the concept behind it is divine. The longevity is disappointing though. If they could somehow make it last longer that'd be a godsend honestly

This is such a unique take on a skin scent. As someone who has spent a lot of time partying with friends in bands in hotel rooms, I think it perfectly captures that essence in an elevated way. It's a bit woody, a bit powdery, and somehow captures a vintage smell without being musty. Room 1015 is quickly becoming one of my favourite houses.

This is GORGEOUS. Perfect powdery leather with saffron. Reminds me of Matiere Premiere's Crystal Saffron but a little quieter and a bit more leathery. This is one of my favorite types of fragrance, makeup at the bottom of a worn leather purse.

Absolutely beautiful scent, almost perfection. However, the potential is lost because the performance is almost unacceptable. Disappears within 30 minutes unless you stick your face into your arm.

I love this scent. I spray and spray and wear lotion and use a fragrance extender and soak my clothes to no avail. Gone within minutes 😩

Discontinued?! This was the best in the house. What a shame.

Opens with a rush of 'ashy', very slightly sweet, smokiness, strangely I also thought I got something slightly garbage-like in there, like Cucumber left cut and slowly dissolving to mush on a plate. As it dries down it smells mostly of a fairly pungent but also slightly restrained smoke predominantly, incense to some extent - if you have smelt the full on smell of Beaufort's 1805 Tonnerre it philosophically shares something with that - though very highly diluted and polished up. In the further development the smoke remains and weakens to sometimes feel like a very distant cousin of Black Orchid or the like (without the sweetness) settling to something very wearable for anyone looking for something a little daring. On the company website it aspires to be the smell of "The 70s... Rock ‘n’ roll catches fire in the California sun. The creative charge shoots out like a gun. Room 1015 is the theater of the delirious nonsense that electrified these years of decadence. A trashed hotel room" - but in truth it might be closer to the front porch of a Laurel Canyon songwriters hangout than the hedonism of a full on Hammer of the Gods moment. As noted already below, projection is very muted and needs a respray at around 4 hours. Actually one of the most wearable of these 'hell hath no fury' type perfumes I've smelt (though that's hardly enough to fill a recording booth). Kinda lovely!!

This is such a unique fragrance but tends to sit close to skin and longevity needs to be improved. I completely agree with the review by QueenK13 below. The violet is there and I think this is why I like it. It's sweet and a bit sugary on my skin but light and not overwhelming. I could see this as both a winter and spring fragrance, cosy and workplace appropriate. Not very sexy, more on the sweet side.

The scent is pleasant and really clean with the way the sandalwood blends with the citrus, and ever so slightly sweet. An asian mom would say it smells perfect. But it fades away instantly. I was so confused when I first spray it; it was so weak I thought it was watered down. Genuinely disappointed with how weak it is. I think this is the weakest sillage of a perfume I've yet to have.
