White Song

Bought this blind (will I ever learn? No...probably not) from someone on a Facebook group to which I belong. The notes appealed to me and it's such a highly regarded niche perfume, I thought I'd be able to sell it if I hated it. To give context: temperature and humidity make a difference to perfume experience; it's warm and dry here today (I've sprayed early evening, but I'm still warm). On first spraying, there's a disturbing note I can smell when I put my nose close to my skin which I DO NOT LIKE. I've written that in capitals to express exactly how disturbing I find it; it's bad enough to make me regret a blind buy disaster. It's something in the spices; the listing just says "spicy notes" so I've no idea what it is amongst them that I find so repellent. It's definitely not the ginger. But... Take nose AWAY from skin, allow perfume to air for 10-15 minutes and - oh my... (please excuse my overuse of ellipses...) White Song develops into something heavenly. I have no idea what almond blossom smells like; Fragrantica describes it as being "subtle heliotrope and herbal honey". I can get with that: heliotrope and honey. It's gloriously, naturally sweet and slightly powdery about 30 minutes after spraying. If this stage remained (and I didn't find it so difficult to commit), I would make White Song my summer signature scent. Utterly UTTERLY delicious. As the perfume dries down, jasmine starts to come out; she's a gentle blooming jasmine and, underneath her, there are spices - thankfully, without that challenging note. I don't understand the reference to indoles in perfume - brain does not compute - so I can't tell you if the jasmine in White Song has that quality. I'm not really picking up on amber, but I am sure it's acting as an anchor for the other notes. Sillage is moderate, as is longevity on my perfume absorbing skin. White Song is a truly gorgeous perfume. I urge you to test it if you are a fan of lightly spiced white florals like Twilly (which it does remind me of, albeit loosely). ETA: Got it! I know what White Song reminds me of - more than Twilly - it's L'Artisan's Oeillet Sauvage; I'm not suggesting these are dupes, it's more the structure of the perfume and the way the flowers and spices play off each other.

OMG!!! This is SO good!! I get almonds and a delectable heliotrope accord at first go. Then comes the smooth almond blossom and swirl of vanilla, musk and sprinkle of fine anise. Awesome!! This is like dream signature for me right now. The nice lady that helped me out with a selection of niche perfumes said this reminded her of 'orgeat,' an European syrup of almonds, sugar, rosewater and/or orange blossom water! How amazing... I want to try that. Immediately!!! :O Oh this has to be my favourite discovery of 2016!! And this is mid December as I write!! I especially love the realistic heliotrope flower accord. It's not masked by vanilla nor almonds, but it is complemented by both! Absolute favourite from the Dear Rose line! Almond lovers, get onto this!! ;) ;) :P PS: I love you Fabrice Pellegrin, you've won me once again, after Diptyque's Do Son <3

Just here to say EnglishCountryGarden's review below may be the best I've ever read on Fragrantica, and led me to pull out my long-neglected sample and test this one for myself. Her review is also spot-on. Nothing more to say than to echo hers & other reviewers' that it does open with that strange yet nostalgic plastic doll head scent (a la Sensual Orchid), but it evolves into so much more than that--I'm still figuring out how to describe and will update when I find the words, as it leaves me somewhat speechless. In simplest terms, it is a creamy, warm, slightly spicy, nutty floral that is utterly delightful and clearly stupefying. Quite tenacious, too. FB-worthy.

A soft and melancholic perfume... almond blossom is very evident but not in an invasive way, i feel a lot of ginger and spices. An imaginative harmony,like a fairy tale written in a book.... it is a magical and intoxicating scent. I love this fragrance is one of my favorite of Dear Rose, a unique perfume! Sillage: 9./10 Longevity: 10./10 Scent: 9./10 Overall: 9./10

Ginger, spiced almond beauty! Testing so many niche fragrances it becomes hard to find something that stands out, but this one certainly did for me. The silage and longevity are brilliant and it just smells so different to alot of the scents being repeated and churned out under different names in the perfumery world today. This will be a staple in my wardrobe.
