Une Nuit D'Éte Sous Le Figuier

This is a special scent. I may have been looking for this for a long time. It is evocative in every way of a summer in a green Mediterranean grove, and has a sun-baked quality, which is an astonishing thing to be able to recreate in a fragrance, and which Rose et Marius have done exceedingly well in several frags. From the perspective of ‘green’ frags, I even prefer this to my mainstay, Chanel 19, on the warmth and softness of the impression, where 19 is more ‘cold’ and stark, although, Une Nuit is just as intelligent. I prefer it to Philosukos (the great fig contender) which on my skin, was too harsh, dry and bitter/woody. I prefer it to Bastide’s Figue Amour, which, too, is too bitter and almandine for my taste. But this green confection is perfect. It has a luminous quality, of green things that grow in the sun. It does smell of fig, but in the vegetal sense, of the leaf and vine, mysterious shade juxtaposed against a sense of sunbaked grasses. Close your eyes, and you may be able to feel the warmth of an evening, and hear the distant drone of insects on a summers night. Beauty.

Our sense of smell is truly incredible — it can transport you to a specific moment in time with just a scent. With this fragrance, I honestly don’t care what the official pyramid says — what I smell is deeply personal and vivid: a realistic scent that takes me back to childhood, climbing bird cherry trees in the countryside. The tuberose, blended with fig leaf, gives me the exact aroma of bird cherry blossoms — sweet, honeyed — while the patchouli brings in the scent of bark and the bitter sap of branches. As the green notes fade, a soft musky-sandalwood base remains, and it can last the whole day. I don’t wear it often — mostly in spring and summer, when I crave freshness and a feeling of purity.

I usually prefer the more fruity fig fragrances, where the fig fruit itself is present too, not only the leaf. This is a little bit too green for me this way... however what I also have to admit that amongst the green fig fragrances this one is one of the best, strongest and most lasting. It does have a home fragrance version too which I did not realize and tried as perfume and that one is even more potent

The green tartness is balanced with a more ripe, dried, sweet fig and plum compote. I got the impression of a darker parallel to Mojave Ghost by Byredo. Somehow, they have a similar vibe to me; both have a musky base, floral mid, and fruity top. Unfortunately, not the fruit I would enjoy.

It starts out quite green , not sure the smell which I assume is the fig leaf . I also get a lot of peach which isn’t a fruit I like the taste of or smell off. However , it’s not offensive
