1970

After many hard days, I need something comforting and easy, soft and enveloping. The scent of 1970 is creamy pudding like milk chocolate which is cozy, hazy, opulent and not too sweet, sugary nor generic. As the scent evolves it becomes delicately powdery, a bit like a powder mix of Cocoa and Vanilla. This is very unique gourmand, not so elegant like gourmands rarely are but amazing regardless. For me this a scent to wear at home or at the cottage under the blanket and next to the fireplace. I wouldn’t wear this at work. Even if it reminds me of milk chocolate pudding, it’s rather a thick texture and how I feel, I don’t think that I would like to eat it though. That’s why I think that this is not juvenile at all, it’s a mature gourmand. I have seen reviews where people are complaining about the aroma which is like a mix of Curry and Cumin but luckily on my skin the spices don’t perform in that kind of way at all. The fruity nuance is almost non-existent and the earthy and woody notes restrain the development of the scent into something clearly edible. Amber is also crucial note to ensure that the scent is not too sweet and syrupy. The base is a collection of notes that blend seamlessly together. Sometimes you get the feeling that it’s even too easy and because of that, the scent may lose interest for some. However, because of that 1970 is so perfect when you feel exhausted or stressed. This perfume is very long lasting on my skin, aroumd 10-12 hours. Mostly I wear this during the evening at home and I can still smell it on my skin in the morning. Promise to GOD im not being facetious. THIS is body odor done right! Just toss this perfume in the animalics tote. 1970 has high quality smell and ingredients. You may have to graduate yo nose. Umm yummy.. its not toy chocolate not candy chocolate, its not fun! 1970 chocolate for adults but its still delicious. Tonka ontop strong musk are the star. Earthy note fresh i think airy powdery wet but fade. Chocolate is dark bitter slight herbal other times warm ambery buttery and an envelop that support the star; chocolate sit in back ground; come in whifs almost, not always present but never leave. Chocolate whif with the juicy citruses both poppn in and out back ground. Juices really are beverage like. Something bout that musk tonka citrus combo - somehow the sharp synthetic edges of real musk turn into the beveragey bubbly zinglike effect. Theres a part in the journey i get tonka champagne cream. Cummin start off funky body odor. I kinda enjoy. But eventually in journey cummin tame a bit and add to the tonka champagne effect not in a root beer way but some other type cola spice way. My friend said it smelled like spilled sweet booze. Will this perfume test good in summer night in French Quarters new orleans? JUST DONT spray too much. 1970 could be year round.

This scent is a late afternoon spent in the garden, under the fruit trees, where you are surprised to find an orange chocolate bar buried in the soil. As you brush the dirt from its worn wrapper a musky amber layered with tonka fills the air. It's difficult to describe but the longer it sits on my skin the more I can discern the chocolate and amber in particular. The vanilla is too subtle for me to find it as a singular note but the combination is somewhat powdery. This is similar in feel to a patchouli forward perfume - earthy chocolate with the slightest bit of animalic (very slight). If you are looking for a foody gourmand, this isn't it. But if you enjoy patchouli in this style, you will likely appreciate what's done here. Definitely unisex. This is the type of perfume you might find in those shops that sell crystals and incense. Refined hippy chic - something I imagine an Olsen twin might wear ;) 4/19/26 Update: I applied this to my husband's wrist and it smelled delicious on his skin. I must say he's improving his olfactory skills as he sniffed and called out certain notes then compared it to his Lempicka - I've never been more proud!

I was wondering why this smelled so damn familiar, and it finally dawned on me (after 3 days of wearing this) that it's Mexican hot chocolate. Tell me if I'm wrong (I'm not, though). It's so warm, cozy, sweet, spicy... and chocolatey. The vanilla is heavy, so let me emphasize the lasting power on this one: I was smelling it on my shirt from the afternoon into the NEXT evening. It will lose its chocolate note, but the spicy vanilla absolutely STAYS. I rarely come across perfumes that last this long anymore. And let me tell you, the wafts you get from this all day are so warming and delectable. It makes me smile, relax, and indulge. Now it says "earthy notes", but I'm pretty sure there's a hint of patchouli involved. I think patchouli gets a bad rap lately, so maybe the intention was to mask it by saying "earthy" instead. Not fooling me, 1970. But DON'T knock it off of your list to try, because whatever phantom patchouli is in here, it's very minimal. This is a beautiful, seductive gourmand that has hurled me into the throes of autumn a little too early. That said, perfect fall fragrance.

This has been such an enjoyable wear I had to leave impressions. The main stars are chocolate and spice. I think the Amber may be ambroxan because this wears a bit like a cacao version of Eau Duelle - I get that same warm woody clove spice feeling in the base. But then there is a pronounced earthly note blended with the dark chocolate powder that makes me think of the potting soil they use in Willy Wonka's chocolate Factory. Or earthy chocolate patchouli only without any of the green camphor oily bits. Warm and dry spices instead. Not as gourmand as I expected. A bit dark, but not heavy, and only lightly sweet. Performance is 8+ hours, creates a nice scent bubble but no beast. Smells expensive and grown up. Hard to describe honestly, feels quite unique all together. Do try! It also must be said that the bottle and presentation is a nice upgrade over the last collection. The pictures don’t do it justice with its gold trim and deco filagree that bounces sparkles of gold light around the inside of the bottle. I don’t usually rate presentation but this one is particularly nice.

I stopped in at the Perfume Shoppe in Vancouver to smell 1970 and I couldn’t leave without it. I let it simmer on my hand and could not stop smelling it. I smell citrus at first, but not straight lemon or bergamot, it’s blended with an earthy slightly spicy chocolate note. Not really sweet but the vanilla does peak through as it dries down. This is amazingly blended. I would say this does have a vintage feel, as in it’s not your typical scent in any way. Not easily categorized. It smells rich and unusual but modern as well. Worth testing and not one to buy blindly. I don’t own Feve Gourmande but I have smelled it and it is sweeter than 1970, this one is deeper and much earthier. Rosendo Mateu 1970 is so freakin’ artful and I will not hesitate to buy another bottle if I come across one again. This is a 10/10 fragrance and the most special bottle I own.

Cozy. Opener is very dominant fruity mix with an after-smell of faint vanilla and cocoa. At first I was uncertain whether it would fit the gourmand fragrance I was looking for but decided to give it a stroll around the shop until it evolves. To my surprise the chocolate note kept growing as the top notes kept fainting until it fully developed into a chocolate-woody base. A few moments before I also sprayed on Chocolate Greedy by Montale (which I've smelled before but fell short due to being linear, unexciting and way too similar to smelling as a sweets factory). 1970 gave a sense of luxury and warmth whereas CG was plain meh. A couple hours later (6+) I went to bed and smelled my hand where 1970 was and it was a soothing (but faint) tonka and vanilla. 3 different scents packed in a bottle. Very pleased with this purchase.

I'm loving this. I purchased a decent of this bc the notes are right up my alley. I was expecting something dark and spicy. That is not this at all. This is going to sound really weird bc the notes are very different but I'm getting elements of D&G Devotion Intense EDP and XJ Lira. The citrus is LOUD in this and it works. I've tried it on several separate occasions and I always pick up on elements of Devotion Intense/Lira. Does anybody else? I wish the projection was stronger...but that's a common complaint of mine bc I prefer beast mode scents. Therefore please take my complaint about that with a grain of salt. They should make an intense version of this!

Wow this is great. I'm not getting any kind of sweaty cumin or other funk. To me it's a really mass-appealing and well balanced chocolate with amber and spices giving it some nice depth. Not a sickly sweet chocolate, nice and creamy and warm like an expensive hot chocolate. Makes chocolate greedy (which I like) smell kind of cheap by comparison. After a few hours the chocolate fades and it gets more vanilla/slightly earthy, but not nearly as much as I was expecting from reviews. One spray took about 7 hours to fade to a subtle skin scent.

The opening is sharp and zesty, with a hint of orange and chocolate. It’s a bit harsh, but it quickly fades away to reveal a creamy chocolate flavor with a woody aroma. This is a unique and complex gourmand that reminds me a bit of MCD Feve, but it’s not the same. It’s more enjoyable to wear. Scent : 4/5 Longevity : 3.5/5 Projection : 3/5

I'm wearing this in the beginning of August just after a shower because it's comforting. None of the rich gourmand notes are overpowering. Instead, the vanilla and woody notes stepped forward and are coming across as a clean polished fragrance. I think this will be different in the winter, but today it is nice and soft on my skin.

I finished up my sample and this is 100 % going to be my autumn 2024 scent. I won't be buying it now that we're going towards spring and summer, but when it gets colder again....... I'll definitely splurge. This is AMAZING! Every time I wore it I couldn't stop sniffing myself, and it made me smile with no exception.

Rich! Decadent! Chocolate and sweetness grounded in tonka and earthy note. On me its like a sexy slight cummin funk. Actual cacao fruit ferment into chocolate smell. Key word "ferment" but in a good way because the spice amber and fruit balance this out. Its not about sweetness because the tonka so thick.

Potting soil. Saw dust. Chocolate. Cinnamon. I respect that it's unique but it's a pass for me

An absolute love. To me, this is comfort and warmth in a bottle. Longevity is also great.

Smells like cocoa butter lotion

on my skin it started fruity and zesty with a heavy dark chocolate note. after 5 minutes the top notes of citrus and fruit were all gone and i left with a beautiful dark chocolate on my hand very slightly sweetened with vanilla and a bit warm spices on the background. after 3 hours all the spices are gone, chocolate powder slightly diminishes and vanilla+musks gets more amped up until it ends up becoming a faint sweet musk+vanilla skin scent with the slightest hint of cocoa powder. the projection on this one is great, arm length projection for around 4 hours then sticks closer to the skin the next 4 hours, i can even smell a very faint sweetness after 11 hours of application but i wouldn't count that really. its a nice fragrance for people who seek sweet and realistic chocolaty scents i personally wouldn't wear this. شروع میوه ای و لیمویی به همراه شکلات. بعد پنج دقیقه لیمو و میوه کاملا از بین میره و بوی شکلات تلخ و کمی ادویه گرم حس میشه . بعد حدود 3 ساعت دیگه خبری ازادویه نیست و بوی شکلات کمرنگ تر میشه از طرفی وانیل و مشک پررنگ تر میشن تا جایی که فقط ترکیب بوی ضعیف وانیل و مشک حس میشه به همراه ته بوی خیلی کمرنگ از پودر کاکائو. ماندگاری روی پوست حدود ۸ ساعت و پخش بو مناسب تا ۴ ساعت. مناسب افرادی که دنبال عطرشکلاتی و شیرین هستن و بنظرم رایحه بیشتر زنونست.

I blind bought 1970 based off of reviews of influencers that I trust and so far I’m not disappointed! Projection isn’t the best but it’s right out of the box, it needs time to settle but the scent is really nice! Sweet, chocolatey, slightly citrusy/ spicy . I agree with the comment further down that it smells similar to DG Devotion. I hope the projection gets better but overall I’m happy with the purchase.

Warm spiced chocolate with citrus and earthy patchouli although I see none listed in the notes. This is unusual in that the chocolatey factor is more prominent in the opening than in the dry down. A nice bohemian Autumnal scent. This is at once piquant and aromatic and cosy and comforting. If you want to smell like the powdered chocolate dusted on top of a cappuccino this is for you.

its like a classy, non chocolate dessert-sweet take on chocolate, cacao notes. it smells like spicy dark chocolate, balanced sweetness.

There’s something lurking in 1970 which I do not like and smells like another woman’s feminine body musk. Apart from that, it’s stunning rich, powdery scent. But there’s something sour, musky and unwashed here which is quite disconcerting - it must be an animalic musk or the earthy notes mixing with the citric notes and cumin to make a sour dirty smell. This lady needs a wash as she’s been wearing the same jeans for too long. I had a colleague, whom was very highly sexed and claimed she didn’t wear panties and her uniform used to smell like this. But this is only a metallic undertone. Surrounding this is a beautiful vanilla spicy dream of peppery chocolate that leaves a soft warm cocoon of powdery sweetness. The bottom line is, it’s just not as good as Fève Gourmande.

I don't think this is as off-putting as some in the comments have described it, the spiciness and cumin is not omnipresent, but it does come in and out and when it does, it is upsetting to smell that hint of musty body odor. I don't love putting on fragrance that makes it seem like I haven't washed. I do enjoy the other facets of this fragrance, though - the dusty spicy cacao, sweet warm vanilla, and deep earthy woodiness. Smells like chocolate and spices in a lovely wooden gift box. But I can't recommend this as a blind buy because if the cumin comes out on your skin, even just every now and then, it can be unpleasant.

This fragrance is explicitly fruity, spicy, warm and gourmand at the same time. It is incredibly well balanced, although I must say that I did want more chocolate and vanilla in the composition. It is still quite gourmand, and perfect for the fall. It dries down to a slightly powdery gourmand, that is still quite warm. I would say this would be especially elegant worn on a date, night to a fine thing dining restaurant, just as it would be by the fire with a loved one. Yet another work of art painted in perfume.

Interesting scent! I bought this on a whim ...a blind buy for a sample. It is warm and spicy, which I like... I think I would like this better on a man though. I feel it is a little too masculine. I’m sure I would love it on a man.

What I can say is a very Vintage, mature, vanila, with almost creamy base. Vanilla but kinda medicinal ek to it !! Try it first !!! It’s a warning ❤️

Sirupy/honeyed, vanilla and cinnamon. Sort of like CdG CdG(OG) minus the rose. Vintage leaning. Longevity and projection are excellent. Not for me.

First Impressions: I’m really like this one on paper reminds me of oui plus. Let’s see how I feel about this on the skin. Edit 1: On my skin it’s EXTREMELY spiced. I kind of like it, and then I’m kind of on the fence. It gives me potpourri vibes, but make it Christmas. It’s nicely blended. We shall see as time goes on. Edit 2: Ooof that cumin note is note is revolting for me. Get it OFF!! Verdict-pass

Not what i expected... all i smell is that weird cumin note. This is dry, spicy , dusty and very strong. I was hoping for something that even resembles guerlain feve gourmand, but this has nothing even close. Nothing gourmand or sweet in this one.

Oh no! This is so nasty on my skin! I was so shocked at how horrible it was I had to come back and re-read the notes and then read some of the comments. That is when I see many mentioned the cumin smell. That is exactly what it smells like on me and I am not getting anything sweet or chocolate or vanilla. This is straight up strong cumin and curry on my skin. And not in a pleasant way at all. I love that in food, but man is this a disappointment. So glad I only bought a small decant to test. I’m so sad.

Overwhelming lemongrass, cumin/corriander herbaceous note that overwhelmed the opening and made me feel sick. ☹️

Spicy vanilla with strong citrus opening. The musk is fluffy and dense. The cacao note is a little bit difficult in this scent...for a few minutes the cacao notes feel almost like dirt...the drydown gets better, with the fluffiness of the musk and the spicy vanilla still being dominant. I need to sample it a little bit more...but I like it. It has a great projection and >6 hours longevity, which is great nowadays that almost all scents go away before 4h. Update: In the drydown it reminds me a lot of Sorriso by Profvmvn Roma, it also has some similarities with Black Tie by Celine.

"My friend said it smelled like spilled sweet booze." - Please tell your friend s/he is not the only one :) I kept thinking there was no way I wouldn't remember booze among notes when I ordered a decant. It smells like sweet rum or something, and I can't discern any other notes because alcohol overpowers them. Now that I'm reading the notes again - citruses, chocolate, woody, earthy- what?! Never had such a mismatch between the notes and my nose before, hah

I just got this fragrance today and it was a love at first sniff. I didn’t think I would like it because of the chocolate, as I do not like chocolate notes, but it’s very subtle. All my skin I get the fruity citrusy notes in the opening with lots of Tonka and vanilla in the dry down, and it’s almost slightly powdery. This fragrance screens, grown, sexy and sophisticated and very confident when you walk into a room. I really like this.

I sprayed it on a blotter and it has a metallic sour smell that hit me in the face and I wanted to throw up instantly. On top it's sprinkled cocoa, it' s dusty, bitter chocolatey, but that corroded metal smell mixed with citruses , it's making me gag .And I really wanted to love this, glad I didnt blind buy. I am one for weird smells as I absolutely adore the burnt tire smell from Rosendo 5.

Powdery, airy dark chocolate, light vanilla and tonka scent. Probably the powdery nuances feigning me but I get a light purple hued iris note. Peppery undertones along with cumin, something I don't detect on paper at all but that is prominent on my skin. Absolutely lovely whiffa just walking around with this, hard to overspray! This one is for the mature gourmand fans.

I absolutely love this. Its spicy, warm, and delicious without being entirely edible. Exactly what I was looking for for cooler weather. The chocolate note is divine, it does not smell like a typical "scratch and sniff" type of fake chocolate I get from other scents with a chocolate note. It just adds a hint of tastiness to it. Bought a full bottle.

On first impressions (just out of the box) I get a sweet citrus powderiness with some spice and a dusting of cacao. Hoping the chocolate and woody notes start to pick up more the more it sits and macerates! Edit: they didn't really pick up. This is gourmand but classy and thus not really my thing, I want the foodie gourmands😂

What a gorgeous scent! The chocolate develops so nicely! This is very similar to Devotion from G&B. Which also reminds me of Lira and Sex & Crime from Ex Idolo. This has a smooth chocolaty note that develops so beautifully. Sorta reminds me of Double Attack by Mind Games.

I get a very refined vanilla and tonka, with touches of citrus and chocolate. It reminds me of Qissa Delicious and a little bit of Shaghaf Tonka. But a very high quality beautiful version. Beautiful sillage, totally Unisex.

How does this smell? I don’t know I am almost completely anosmic to this one. When I do notice it is nice, chocolate, vanilla, amber, powder a little wood and musk. I like it but this needs more oomph.

Chocolate Thai Curry. I swear I smell lemongrass. Smells lovely and very refined but this is not a wearable perfume for me.

How on earth is this getting compared to Akro Night? Are people confusing Night for Dark (the chocolate one)?

This one smells exactly "Chocolate Milk Shake". I love it.
