Rosendo Mateu No 2 Citrus, Wood, Suede Leather

Rosendo Mateu 2 is part of the collection relaunched in 2017 by the master perfumer who has had his name involved in countless fragrances of worldwide success. When launching his own brand, in 2015, Rosendo settled once and for all in the Niche Perfumery segment. Rosendo Mateu 2 does not have the same composition as the fragrance launched in 2015. In this new collection, some of them even bring the same main accords printed on the bottle plate but have undergone minor adjustments before the relaunch. In the case of fragrance number 2, this has been changed. The former was complex and built on lavender, spices, and chocolate, while the present was created to highlight the citrus, wood and suede notes. And speaking of suede, Rosendo Mateu 2 is what can be called female leather. I say this because I know that fragrances with leather nuances tend to reinforce aspects of masculinity, virility, strength, and luxury. And when such a note is used in women's fragrances, it is usually barely noticeable in order not to scare the target audience. This time, the perfumer managed to bring balance and unisex appeal in a fragrance that was created, clearly, to enhance the most luxurious nuance of suede. And the result is a scent that touches the skin like incense and unfolds in almondy nuances. The most amazing thing is to understand this result after learning about its olfactory pyramid, which has notes of Calabrian bergamot and lemon, on top; rose, geranium leaves, and floral accord, in the body; white musk, sandalwood, patchouli, and suede, in the base. As it evolves, the perfume reveals itself as extremely comfortable, almost perfect for any time. It takes a while, but the smoky exit I've felt before begins to give way to a floral and slightly camphorated body, in which the rose does not scare, is not too metalized, nor too feminine. It is present all the time, until the moment the woods of the base emerge and practically crush its petals. Then, a denser sandalwood (and less creamy than usual) reveals itself and the suede covers the body as if it were a blanket made of animal skin, used by the people living in the colder regions. Rosendo Mateu 2 may not be the best perfume ever made with leather nuances for the male audience, but it is undoubtedly a great revelation for the female audience. It has elegance, conveys refinement, is not dominant, but it does not stop being present all the time. Taking into account my experience with the fragrance of number 1 and now with this one, everything leads me to believe that the Olfactive Expressions collection of 2017 embraces the elegance without fanfare. So far, both seem to me leveled in terms of projection and durability, as if it were a record with songs produced in a studio with the same volume and sound filters. Here, the volume is not deafening, but the chorus sticks in the memory and stays the whole day. And I move on toward the third fragrance.

If you’re looking for a true signature scent as a man look no further , ROSENDO strikes again this is a rich slightly dense citrus dipped suede , the florals don’t command a lot of attention they beautifully compliment the toughness of this amazing composition... It transitions thru these notes flawlessly changing but staying true to its identity, it has this aromatic powdery smoothness , I’d wear it every single day if it wasn’t so expensive... It is very versatile as the reviewer below stated , a true feel good scent makes you just feel great and smell better than everyone around you ... Ik it’s a lot of well deserved hype around No.5 but 2 and 7 are my favorites then I’d go 1& 5 all 5 stars to me yes i said it 10/10 .... Beautiful fragrance definitely for men unless you want to smell extra musky and masculine as female. Oddly enough musk is not listed on the notes. It is sitting on my skin now for almost an hour and very prominent musky, leathery. Soft sandalwood and the rest of the notes even citrus are very much on the background. Not a delicate one. Sits somewhat close to skin but still has a decent projection.

The citrus here is powerful which is great I really enjoyed it and felt a similarity to manceras cedrat boisee only in the citrus category but the overall scent it’s different It’s a good try from this house since my first experience wasn’t very pleasant

Very nice in the opening hour or so. After that, fades quickly and becomes very nondescript on me. My apologies to RM--rest in peace.

N•2 for me smells like clean and a small bit fruity but if I had to tell what is actually smells like it would be clean, all natural baby product like baby wash, wipes... It lasted long on me like 6 to 8 hours with just one spray on the wrist’s. Overall 3/10 On me it didn’t work but if you like really clean, zesty and floral fragrances give this one a try!

To my nose, the leather overpowers everything else... It is more on the masculine side and I think my skin just pulls straight leather notes...ugh...I haven’t had a lot of luck with Rosendo Mateu’s fragrances 😔

Absolutely stunning, pure class. Dense, resinous, pasty, thick, and all this without being sickly sweet or cloying. Amazing whiffs from the back of the hand and wrist, a cloud that envelops and follows, without being overbearing ( as it was happening for me with Seville A L'Aube ). Rosendo KNEW how to make perfume. My first discovery of him, full bottle worthy( but WHY only 100mll for a ton of money, we need 30ml, we are collectors!!!).

I was doing my research about this perfumier and I read a lot about him and based on that I have a motivation to try his line and here is my first impression about his bespoke perfume no.2: when I heard that there is a suede leather note I thought this perfume will be very strong or harsh but after testing it I discovered that the suede leather note is very shy here and it's blend very well with patchouli and sandalwood notes which make it soft. fantastic and it's a lovely fragrance for the lover of light intense perfume with a beautiful composition. longevity 6/10 sillage 9/10 Overall 7/10.

Of the thousands tested and sampled, this is my signature scent. Upscale luxury and cleanliness with an undertone that invokes curiosity. I'm truly in love with this scent. It has a character that's certainly unique. There's an unmentioned animalic element that carries your interest. This fragrance is the golden standard for excellence. It's really THAT good - and grossly slept on too! The only comparable fragrance would be maybe Clive No. 1? Even then I go with Rosendo. It's a must try.

Starts masculine, develops feminine and the drydown reminds me of FB Under my Skin, with no animalic or “unwashed hair” notes - there’s a powdery, yet airy feel to it. I can actually wear this one in public. Very nice, but before I get inspired for a full bottle, I’m interested to compare it to FB Angel’s Dust and Bel Canto Sospiro and see which is more wearable.

This is a classy one.. Smooth citrus fresh floral leather with a little touch of guerlain nicolai shimmering mature amber.. very clean amber floral drydown with lotion-like effect. It starts more on masculine side, but gradually becomes more feminine. there is some dettol soap smell floating in background during the opening stage of the scent.

Cinnamon, almonds, amber, hint of rose, suede and a touch of cumin. Warm and spicy without being too sharp. The amber component here is cloying though and overshadows a lot of the other notes. Relatively pleasant to wear but can't do close sniffs on this one. As a composition this has a cheap feel to it.

More of a geranium vetiver. I do sense slightly oud like note with allot of earthy vetiver, cumin, tiny hints of sweat. I smell something animalic in here and I believe it could be a castoreum plus the dirty vetiver. The colder it goes the more infatuation it becomes.

A fresh, aromatic, pillow soft, slightly dusky, slightly smoky, vanilla-y leather. This is spectacular, prismatic and easy to wear. Keeps changing while playing the same tune. If it resembles anything it is most like Cuir Beluga made more atmospheric and interesting.

This was nothing like I expected from the reviews. Very floral, feminine, and synthetic smelling. I thought RM was all about the naturals but I guess not.

Sometimes I love this, and sometimes I get urinal mints! Does anyone else get this??
