Rosendo Mateu No 3 Neroli, Iris, White Musk

Let me say something about this house. I have never smelled a perfume house where I will like every single realise. Currently own no 5 and Sweet Rose but I hope to own every single bottle. When comes to no.3 I was really surprised as I don't like iris in perfumes but this one here is done so well. It is powdery, slightly sweet scent with strong Rosendo Mateu DNA. I'm extremely picky when comes to fragrances and I was literally gobsmacked after smelling no.3 To me it is more on lady side .I would say it is safe blind buy if you like flowery scents . This stuff is long lasting like all RM perfumes , it screams quality !

So beautiful and elegant. It doesn’t smell like Dior Homme.

Rosendo Mateu 3 is part of the collection relaunched in 2017 by the master perfumer who has had his name involved in countless fragrances of worldwide success. In creating this fragrance, Rosendo defends that it stands out for its elegance, sensuality and intense feminine note when dressing the skin of a woman. At the same time, it also carries an attractive masculine expression, which is comfortable and elegant for a man to wear. In his words: "a unisex perfume, which is close to perfection". Rosendo Mateu 3 has notes of Calabrian bergamot and Tunisian neroli, at the top; iris, Damascus rose and jasmine, in the body; sandalwood, vetiver, cashmeran, amber, tonka bean, vanilla and white musk, at the base. When sprayed on the skin, the fragrance seems to start at the end, as if the olfactory pyramid was upside down. That's because the initial minutes bring sweet nuances - almost like caramel - very similar to those we feel in perfumes composed with Ethyl Maltol. And this smell lasts for at least an hour after application. This can be scary for the most discerning men, who do not enjoy typically feminine fragrances and may come to experience without high expectations (although the citrus side has been more noticeable on the blotter). In my opinion, this is the part that may represent a negative point in relation to direct sales. However, if you can wear any type of perfume, regardless of gender, you will be surprised by its evolution. Over time, the fragrance begins to gain woody nuances and it is possible to feel the presence of vetiver with its smoky facets. At the same time, it is possible to notice the brightness of the neroli, very softly, especially if the skin is heated. Like I said, it looks like the composition is reversed. In times when sexual freedom and issues related to gender are being discussed more broadly worldwide, I see Rosendo Mateu 3 as a fragrance that breaks all stigmas attached to terms such as transgender, gender bender, unisex, shareable, etc. In my opinion, Rosendo Mateu 3 is simply perfume, in all its literal essence. And as we know, for those who live from the perfumery art, perfume has no gender, not to mention in niche perfumery.

My first purchase from this house. it's a beautiful fragrance. Neroli, Musk and Bergamot are the stars. the Iris is barely detectable. unfortunately on my skin, there's no projection. zero sillage and longevity is well, let's just say there is none. which is unfortunate because it is a great scent... just not one that screams "look at me"! also, a few mentioned the beautiful packaging, here i must disagree. it's a step up from most, but in no way compares to that of Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Line and V Canto.

semisweet powdery iris with a nice airy summery vibe. not exactly my preference of iris but I like it. the iris is similar to tears of iris by morillas which is much different than the lipstick iris in dior homme, which I love and prefer over this. it’s not an iris scent, but iris is the note that stands out on my skin. overall, it’s impressive if you’re into low key inoffensive and extreme sophistication.

This is nice but the longevity is very poor, the sillage is very low and for an iris perfume, the powdery-ness isn’t making its presence known...it’s a nice perfume but I don’t think it is full bottle worthy. Ibitira (Xerjoff), Iris de Syracuse (Boucheron), Luxury (Mizensir), these are true powdery iris perfumes!! I recommend these three instead 💜💜💜

It smells very natural in the opening, like a freshly cut flower stem. As it dries down I mostly get iris and musk, which is what I expected. But sadly it's not a good performer and smells slightly too feminine for me... I still like it and the price (1€/ml) seems more than acceptable. Scent 7,5/10 Performance 6/10 Versatlity 7,5/10

Very rare do I dislike a fragrance. Yes, there’s fragrances that I don’t care for - like Oud Satin Mood or Alien, but I can admit that it does smell nice - or if not for me, then there’s definitely someone who would smell nice with it on. As for this fragrance, soon as I smelled it, I gagged. I didn’t even let it sit for a few days. Look, I never judge off of the first spray bc I do understand the whole oxidization/maceration process and the fragrance changing in scent but there’s no way time could or would change this fragrance. I own Mateu 5 & 6 and I love both. Maybe I got a bad batch? ldk but it was an immediate return.

I think it's safe to say this house is a love for me even though I haven't tried all the perfumes in the Olfactive Expressions line. So far none seem groundbreaking but they have all been intriguing compositions nonetheless. More importantly, they are effortlessly elegant and extremely versatile (so, yes, definitely office-safe). Straight down the middle unisex and make me feel put together even if I'm dressed like an undernourished surfer. Smells expensive and refined. Longevity is poor and after the first half hour it sits very close to the skin. No matter, my husband loves this on me. If you get a chance to sample these or pick them up at discounters, well worth taking the plunge. Yum.

At initial spray bright lovely neroli ,really citrusy and then came a lovely iris,sweet & powdery. Overall Soft ,airy, ethereal scent, sweet & powdery. Great office scent, all-year rounder, signature worthy . It is cozy, comforting and i just can't stop sniffing my arms especially mid to drydown. If you have RM #5, this maybe underwhelming comparing it and it is not fair. This a beautiful, long lasting, soft-powdery oriental scent and i am happy to have full bottle along with RM# 1 and the very decadent and chic RM Sweet Rose!

Opens very dusty & woody on my skin.. very earthy. Then the creaminess, sweetness & warmth of vanilla, sandalwood amber..peek through. But the white musk is always in the background from the opening to the drydown on my skin. Did not get much iris in this.. like in Dior Homme. Very soft & clean.. thank God in bought this at a heavily discounted price. It’s good, but i wouldnt buy this at the original price.

This is nice but not neroli forward. Initially a green neroli says hi but quickly fades away. A soft, powdery, earthy and slightly green (vegetal) iris forward fragrance with musks, a bit of bergamot, milky sandalwood and ambergris (mild). A fragrance for iris lovers, suitable for autumn - it's musky, earthy and withdrawn yet with discreet, animalic sensuality. Long lasting.

Very pleasant, soft floral scent. I get a very intense iris note with other green notes. Transparent and delicate. It reminds me of a couple of beautiful soft white floral scents like La Tulipe and also Iris de Syracuse. This is very beautiful but I don't think I need a bottle since I have IDS.

Musky woods with a tricky jasmines. The jasmines hits at first with the neroli and musk but then withdraw to stay at the back while letting the amber, tonka, and vanilla to take the lead beside the musky wood cashmere. This is cute, very safe and very wearable. Nice.

Bright, zesty citrus opening alongside a vanilla & amber that provides sweetness and warmth. The white musk used here provides an extremely clean aura to the composition, overtly so for my tastes. Clean and happy but absolutely nothing exciting.
