Sweet Rose

Adore the smell of this but it sits so close to the skin that I have to smell my wrists to get anything. A sweet vanilla rose that I just would love if I got little wafts of throughout the day. Might try to overspray tomorrow and see what I get. **EDIT - I got a full bottle on a good deal and I have oversprayed a bit and I am getting the most beautiful scent bubble! I take everything back, I love it love it love it!!!

I recently acquired a decant of this and I got to say that I am impressed with the scent profile it's a real nice unisex fruity rose. I can smell the strawberries, passion fruit and raspberries. It really does project rather well and longevity is great. Any gender can pull this off. My wife really loves it and will probably steal some from me from time to time. Definitely full bottle worthy.

So initially, I was a bit confused as there was nothing sweet about it. I only got an overdose of roses. Overtime this nice berry started to intertwine with the rose, actually very unique.

A beautiful strawbery rose, very unique and juicy

For something that should be very simple to break down and describe, Sweet Rose by Rosendo Mateu is actually kind of a complex and sophisticated parfum that is elegant without being too mature. Sure, it's sweet and it's certainly filled with rose galore, but it is the heart of this wonderful fragrance that stands and delivers. Sweet Rose starts off with a strong citrus, rose accord. There is something green and strong in this right away, it could be the vetiver. I have a hard time deciphering bergamot, but that's the note described directly from the RM website, so I'll roll with it. My nose has a hard time deciphering between different citrus fruits, but I can tell this is unique. Then you have the star of the show, the rose! Lots of rose, and a sweet rose at that. But, it's not syrupy and low cost like a drug store perfume. This is balanced and the sweetness floats in the right spot. It has a jammy red berry accord and that accord is supporting the sweetness, but that eases off after 45 minutes and the patchouli and sandalwood come forward and carry the multi-rose scent. The musk lays low and strong, even as this parfum starts to fade to a close to skin scent, the musk sits comfortably in the back seat and doesn't stray. For the most part with slight exceptions, I would completely agree with the perfumer and the break down on notes. This is a masterclass in perfumery. The formula is quiet strong and lasts! I've put this on my wrists and behind my knees, this lasted and projected for over 12 hours! I went to bed last week and woke up with this still emanating. Be warned. the tops notes are citrus, rose, green for sure. Base notes are rooooosssseeeee! and summer jammy accords followed by base notes of sandalwood, white musk and patchouli. That's it. As beautiful as this is and as much as I personally believe this to be excellent perfumery, this leans feminine! I love rose scents like Rose des Vents, Rose d'Arabie, Portrait of a Lady etc.. But I'm constantly questioning this on my skin and that's not the fragrance's fault; I love aoud, incense, spices, musk. Some of the notes in this fragrance I absolutely love, such as patchouli and I love patchouli & aoud blended with rose, but this formula doesn't really work for me. It's sweet, charmed, sophisticated and strong and it would compliment on the right person. I honestly highly recommend sampling this sleeper from a master perfumer that has sadly left us a bit too soon. Packaging: 7/10 Price: 9/10 Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 10/10 Sillage: 9/10

LOTS of strawberries swirled with rose, vanilla and sandalwood. Sweet - which I usually do not like - but somehow I'm drawn to the flavor of this - like it's good enough to eat. Pretty, feminine, sweet evening fragrance. Update: I really love this...for a few hours. I don't like sweet girly fragrances, but this sweet fruity floral remains sophisticated and special. A lady-like powerful candied rose. It has strong projection and longevity. The last lingering base notes (day after) are not my fav, but if I wore it to date night or a wedding (the events I'm imagining this for) the performance would be great and I'd enjoy the fragrance all night...just not the next day. ALTERNATIVE: Thameen Peregrina is a smoother, less harsh, less deep, more consistent option if this one is unpleasant to you in any way (as it is to me in the dry down).

This fragrance is very fruity, but the fruits are sweet and young smelling. On my skin, strawberry is very realistic and very dominant. So is bright rose. The passionfruit is not very detectable. Overall, it’s a very good fruity fragrance, not synthetic or tacky, like some fruit fragrances can be. It feels pretty young, but not juvenile. To me it is best suited for spring and summer and is very feminine leaning. The performance is also pretty good with excellent longevity and moderate sillage. A safe blind buy for those who love fruity fragrances.

A delicious rose and fruit concoction. I bought it for myself (male) but it does lean much more feminine. My partner sprayed it on her arm and then appropriated the bottle immediately. It smells completely different on different skin, it is much sweeter and more effervescent on hers. I notice Zaharoff signature Rosé is top of the list for fragrances it reminds people of, I own both and trust me they are absolutely nothing alike. On a personal note I much prefer the Zaharoff as a man’s rose fragrance, ladies may well prefer the fruitier Mateu

I was nervous this was going to pull more masculine, but it’s very feminine on my skin. First it was a bit green but the dry down became a sweet rose as the name suggests. Nothing ground breaking but when I sprayed this my bf said the whole room smelt like roses when he came in. Throughout the day I can smell myself. If you love a rose this perfume is for you. Also the packaging is everything 🌷

So I seem to be the only one who can't get a scent from this. I've had my bottle for over a month and I can't smell anything. Almost like I'm sniffing water even when my nose is close to my arm. Nose blind, maybe?

I could not pick out finer notes. To me it is just a blast of rose and that kind of very chemical woody oud. Very strong.

Red berries and roses with a heavy dose of musk. In the beginning it feels like a candied rose with something gasoline like and very harsh, I thought it was oud. Now I realize it is the type of musk used here, that is heavy and aggressive. It mellows and in the drydown it is a pretty, fluffy, musky sweet rose. Very lady like. It reminds me a lot of 1920 oro rosa which is also a fruity rose with a very aggressive note that smells similar to inky oud and musk.

I enjoy the scent of this fragrance but the longevity is terrible & not even worth the price compared to other fruity rosé fragrances. If you have Kirke, Halley, Strictnina you don’t need Sweet Rose. If the performance was better I wouldn’t had decluttered it because it does smell nice like a passionfruit fruity rosé cocktail 🍹 very well blended just not strong at all .

This is a nice one but strongly reminded me of Gucci Flora 1966. It's whimsical, kinda melancholic and perfect for rainy days yet coldish. Long lasting and great projection on me, really huge score on these points.
