No 11

Fragrantica does not mention the name behind the number, as anyone can read in the house's website, "Sbagliato", "mistaken" in English. Plus, the pyramid is different: as to the company's site, there is no oud in N° 11, the top note is leather. Years ago I bought a bottle of Cuero ("leather" in Spanish) manufactured by the house; the shop where I found it was a small perfume store selling stock out, the owner died and the daughter had to take care of existences since she wanted to rent the place. For some reason I ignore, the owner did not renew existences, so it was more of a museum than a store. A month or two ago I became aware that the house was operative thanks to the house's account in Instagram; after checking their website, I paid attention to Sbagliato / N° 11 because of the leather top note and the tobacco basenote mentioned in the pyramid. I had in mind the one I owned: I remembered it was a leather scent along the lines of Cabochard, Aramis, Bandit or Knize 10, however, toned down because of floral basenotes. I have to add that I expected that the role of tobacco leafs would give the blend a pungent accent. Well, the first impression I got after spraying N° 11 was that the chemist behind the present-day formula either reproduced the original one - and that the original bottle I bought was spoiled - or else used it as a starting point for its updated version. Next became a surprise. It opens boozy with gourmand notes, I could not get much of leather in it as is the case in others mentioned, which lead me to confusion, because the context is rather floral. Next comes a very complex evolution where the leather does play a role among powdery notes. The blend feels soft, perhaps too much, as well as delicate for its discretion. This is not a bomb at all, so those who expect projection and longevity are going to be dissapointed; however, the complexity makes up for this. I cannot attest to its quality for I lack the technical knowledge and means to assure it, however, it does smell like a good quality scent. Who would use it? I think it could be the "signature scent" of a woman under 40, with a certain preference for all things classic without falling into expiration dates. Avoid blind buying, IMHO it is best to buy a sample pack before spending money on it, although in terms of prices they are affordable (around USD 60 taking the official exchange rate, around USD 40 if taking the parallel one).
