Embers

Oooooh, it's so lovely. The spice and incense are stunning, dry, somehow transparent, totally warm and enveloping at the same time. The wood and resins which kick in later are soft and cuddly and gorgeous. It's got a deep, radiating, almost-burning heat at the centre which makes its name 100% appropriate. Definitely conjures pictures of cosy (indoor) firesides, and even more vivid ones of church braziers. Certainly among the top 8 incenses I've smelled if price were no object. (For my money it is, yes, more complex and more lovely even than CDG Avignon, but maybe not quite as spine-tinglingly good as Wienerblut Ex Voto). But unfortunately money *is* an issue - this is seriously expensive stuff as it claims to be extrait strength, but on me has less longevity than most EDPs. So ... if someone bought me this I would love it (and them) forever, but if spending my own earnings I would look for other things in the same ballpark at a slightly less intimidating price. (And on really budget days I'll layer Library of Fragrance Fireside and Amber and imagine it comes close to this.) ETA: after a lucky decants swap I got to spend more time with this, and am now even deeper in love with it - not least because I discovered it had infinitely better longevity than I first thought, when it's sprayed not dabbed and used with more generosity. That boosted its life on skin to around 6h and on fabrics for a few more, so it really would last a full day. ETA again: RRPis painful... but I managed to scoop up a partial used bottle at discount. With more extended wearing you realise what a clove BOMB it is - but cloves in a glorious, dry, restrained way - and I could not have been more wrong about performance in my remarks above: this stuff can last 14h+ on skin in cooler conditions. That seals the deal. It's just fantastic. Smouldering love.

Nice fragrance, but agreed with what many below have said about it not being intense enough. When looking for a woodsy / smoky / spicy fragrance I think that is key - in this sense similar ones in this price range go a lot further like Nanban and Vento nel Vento Bois 1920, Lillipur Tiziana Terenzi. This also had a slight overdone note at first spray I think it was the pepper, but like in Kenzo Elephant (also a very spicy fragrance of this kind) it wasn't particularly pleasant. But mainly the lack of intensity is what puts me off liking this. *I sprayed a total of 6 times, this way I can smell it pretty well, but 6 times is too many in one go there are others where 1-2 is enough to get this intensity. Tested a second (different) tester and this was far more intense, one spray was enough and WOW. This is now on my buy list... I do wonder, if they water up some of these samples! Okay, I picked-up a bottle of Embers back in October. My first impression was...well, that it was decent light-incense fragrance but, for the money, I was left wanting more and therefore a bit disappointed. This is merely my first impression since I haven't spent much time with this fragrance. I tend to like my incense fragrances a bit more full-bodied such as a Tom Ford Sahara Noir, Montale Kabul Aoud, Myrrh Imperiale and others. To me, Embers was on par with lighter incense fragrances such as Bentley Intense and Mauboussin M Generation, which are both nice designer incense fragrances...but I didn't pay a designer price. I hope to update this review in the coming weeks. Until then, it's a tepid like for me. Update: I've been wearing Embers now and again for the past 2-years and it really has grown on me; love this lighter elegant type of incense fragrance. It lasts an honest 8-hours on skin even though it stays closer to the skin (i.e., personal scent bubble)

I got a lovely generous decant in a swap with Cherry_Darling and its just as i remember the sample. Its strong, although im not certain Embers is the best name for describing it. Its much more than just a smoky scent to me, loads of nutty vibes, with incense being the floater in the back. Still its one of my favourite scents at the moment, im using it as a work scent. Longevity is quite good, and it lingers around for four odd hours at arms length. Would i buy a whole bottle? Not at the moment, theres others i want more, and at the cost its still too far into the Niche price problem for what it is. That said, a lot of scents i like seem to be in the upper price bracket!

From last year purchasing it yesterday I applyed it for the first time. Woooww from the first moments spices rush toward you and woody base makes a dry woody spicy nuance. Clove and pepper are prominent then slightly sweet smocky labdanume adds it a sophistication which adorable so much Time pasing when a cedar came;in this section cedar wood exudes a pensil shaving kinda feel which reminds me Gucci Pour Homme . Its definitely a solid release and niche quality is there .very anchanting in cold weather particularly rainy weather. For spicy woody lovers it is a must try.

Ahhh this beauty. Dark...incense...euphoria-inducing. It has been months since I've been able to wear her, and I'm anxiously awaiting the return of cold weather to put her on, walk outside in the cold while the wind whips around, and imagine this is how the Old Gods felt walking through forests at the beginning of time. This one does something to my soul. Very long lasting. Definitely not for someone who doesn't like incense or smokey frags. Projection and longevity are amazing on my skin. One of my loves.

Mmm...a great scent. A warm bright, intense glow ember scent. Perfectly named! Wonderful spicy incense. I get lots of clove and nutmeg. I keep thinking there is also cinnamon but its not listed above. Lots of wood. A nice bit of kick from the pepper. I'm glad I don't get much Peru balsam. The Floral notes remain tucked at the back. Oh dear! I wish I didn't like it so much. I think it's very unisex. A wonderful scent for warming you up when it's cold outside. The longevity and sillage are above average.

Pepper and incense upfront - in an intoxicatingly mix, which does not evolve as much into the dry down save that the pepper calms down a bit! Well blended with moderate sillage and decently long longevity. It is an utter delight! It is in the ballpark of Encens Satin by Armani Prive as well as retaining references to other incense (olibanum) focused scents like Armani's Sahara Noir, and being more distant from liturgical incenses like CdG's Avignon, Heeley's Cardinal and Jovoy's La Liturgie des Heures.

I love this!!!...definitely agree with other reviewers on the sweetness factor...which really balances the smoky, woody, notes...this is not in your face burning-down-the-house smoky...nor are the incense notes particularly church-y...this is a very well-balanced slightly burnt wood, slightly lit incense perfume with a light toasting of cloves and cinnamon on top to keep it interesting...absolutely fantastic...

Does anyone have a bottle for destash? If so, please contact me. I fell in love with this just after it was discontinued. 😔 I adore the sweet, chewy amber and find the clove and incense so comforting. The pink pepper and wood notes are a nice sharpening touch that balances everything out. The floral notes don't really come through for me. Glad it doesn't have patchouli like so many similar fragrances.

omg, please don't tell me this is discontinued :| whyy this is so perfect, bring it back! :| this is one of the few scents that transforms your mood and brings you to another place effortlessly, this is the cozy gathering around a campfire bottled up, being at home, carefree with a loving heart, warm and calming spices and burnt wood expensive, but damn, so worth it hey, Rouge Bunny, whhhy? :D

Still my nr 1 fragrance - out of the thousands and thousands I have tested and tried. My true love. I do have a good decade's worth of it but if anyone is tired of their bottle in the UK or Europe (or anywhere else but happy to bring it in the country) please hit me up!

This comes very close to the dry sweetness I have been looking for. I have been visiting Fragrantica passively for some time, but this perfume made me create an account and click the "love" button. It's that good. I don't want to take a shower now 😊

This is such a strange one to try to describe. When I first smelled it, I was simply enchanted and obsessed. I had to have it, and lusted after it for quite some time before purchasing a bottle. I was really into smoky perfumes at the time. Now that some years have passed since my acquisition, and I haven’t worn in at all for years, just sniffing at the cap now and then, I’m hard put to describe it. I don’t truly smell smoke, or incense, or pink pepper, or clove. Like Laudano Nero and Black Afgano, it has a quality to the smell that I’m reading as “chemically created.” That’s not to say that it doesn’t smell good, because I quite enjoy it! But it’s to say that it’s more like a simulacra for the idea of smoke, incense and spices. It’s not the real thing, it’s the idea of an idea. So no, I can’t really vote for smoke, incense, or an assortment of spices. I am happy I purchased a bottle. I’ve gotten a full 10 hour ride from it, and if it I’m awake for a few more hours, I feel sure that it’ll still be with me. The perfume hasn’t lasted on my skin this long, but my clothes. I’m ok with that though. Also, side note - nothing seems to be lasting on my skin this winter, so YMMV. This was a “love” for me, but with Fragrantica’s new rating system, and the passage of time, it’s a solid “like.” Edit to add: This hasn't lasted on my skin at all, but has lasted on my clothing for 24+ hours.

Cinnamon is my favorite note of all time, so i was pleased to smell that cinnamon affect with pink pepper paired with labdanum. Sprayed on skin, nose to wrist, cracked a smile and now my face is stuck. Cinnamon gentleman, this is for you. Embers is a double agent; part warm bodied and part stone washed. At a quick glance, this reminds me of something Andy Tauer would have created a la Eau d'epices. The incense here is burned down to the stem accompanied by heavy labdanum and a galore of nutmeg. What's interesting is I found embers dry down to be very similar to the opening of Lubin's Akkad. Not to be ignored, this bunny has enough bounce to be on anyone's top shelf. It's that good. When people talk about best incense fragrances on the market, Avignon is often mentioned. Welp... Embers is smashing that, EASILY!

I'd like to express that Embers embodies a sense of darkness and intrigue, reminiscent of the sophisticated Bois d’Encens from the Armani Prive line. Remarkably, it matches the quality of the latter while being nearly half the cost. Its opulent, oriental style makes it an ideal choice for sophisticated evening occasions. It's important to note that this fragrance isn't tailored for a younger audience. Sh. Maisondieu's creation is crafted exclusively for adults, evident from start to finish. Additionally, the incense used in this composition deviates from the ecclesiastical character found in fragrances like Cardinal by Heeley, leaning more towards the evocative ambiance of Mayan or Aztec temples. A spicy start with cloves and pink pepper interwoven with an ambery incense. The incense is fairly silent and when the spices withdraw Embers turns into a more woody - soft incense, with a balsamic amber touch produced by the resins. Embers is what the name claims it to be, a soft glow in the dark. But reading the review by Madrona below I can also clearly associate it, especially in the dry down, with a real wooden and wood heated sauna. No matter which interpretation I choose it is a perfect scent for cold winter days.

I have one word for this. Sauna. I'm not talking hotel sauna, nor gym sauna. I am talking the wooden sauna your grandfather built on the island where he grew up, his adjacent childhood home now serving as your family's summer cottage. There's no running water and no electricity, don't even think about 3G coverage, but who needs that when you have sauna, stars and sea? I wish for all lovers of smoky/woody orientals to experience an old, wooden Finnish sauna one day, it is a fragrant experience like no other.

A metric ton of cloves! And some incense a bit later, all gone within one hour. Brilliant spicy scent, but absolutely would not stay on me.
