Silhouette

Silhouette surprised me in that I was not expecting it to be such a terrific gentleman's woody-aromatic fragrance. I treasure my flacons of Rouge Bunny Rouge Embers and Tunda in my Scent Armory, and samples of Silhouette were included with both orders. To me, the woods are most prominent with sandalwood, cedar and vetiver---three of my favorite notes in perfumery---all being discernible notes in the composition, which is backed by an elegant blend of gently warmed spices. These spicy accord plays delightfully, and perhaps a bit whimsically, with the earthly elements of this perfume. Moreover, Silhouette is wrapped in what I sense is a peppery, piney, resinous tone that prompts me hold a little higher, and step a bit more briskly, whenever I'm wearing it. Performance is very good in that it lasts an honest 7-hours on my skin and projects moderately, which is perfect for this type of fragrance. Overall, I find Silhouette to be a very fine fragrance that can be rocked by both guys and gals, but it's one that I find better matched for a gentleman in a suit & tie. But this is merely my opinion and your mileage may vary. Silhouette may very well be the next perfume I order from Rouge Bunny Rouge.

Love it! This has Juniper and Gaiac and musk. What could be bad?! This one is very wearable to me. I can not imagine that this does not have mass appeal. So beautiful! Good for night or day, though I would venture to say that it is probably more suited to evening wear. It screams sex appeal to me. Matching lingerie, flawless makeup, high spirits!! Btw...so happy the rose note is not terribly noticeable. It is incredibly well balanced. Bravo.

Amazing powdery opening, like a heavenly intoxicating veil, and in a way, only the silhouette of the fragrance. As time goes by (not much), you get more of the heart, it gets more spicy and leathery. Nice, but I wish that opening would last more though..

I quite like this. The pimento makes all of the difference to set it apart from SJP ‘Stash’ (which is sweeter and more gourmand Christmassy) and of course Santal 33 (wood ‘n’ gherkin). This is dryer and more serious in its formal, respectable, responsible but calm nature. Very wearable and unisex. I’ll have to investigate further...

Wrong turn into the wrong end of the woods for me. Most of the notes in this are favourites and even that big bully juniper doesn't faze me. I was expecting this to be bracing, coniferous, maybe a little astringent ... ready for a little bitterness even. But sadly the versions of both sandalwood and vetiver in the mix here tend towards the butcher and earthier/dirtier side of their repertoire, and on my (40s female) skin that translates to a very expensive fake body-odour and male scents which are just a tiny bit too macho for me to enjoy. Undeniably woody - not luxurious, but properly rough-hewn and outdoorsy, more sophisticated and complex than many of its type. But we're simply at odds and this so hike ends up more redolent (to me) of sweated-in clothes and sore damp feet (seriously) than the spirit-lifting smell of the forest. RBR's beautiful burning clove bomb Embers is one of my favourites of all time, but while it's still recognisably of the same school, Silhouette wanders right off track. Even in this area (juniper-flecked cold outdoorsy woods) I can think of several things like it but more manageable - PG Eau Guerriere or CDG Dover St Market come to mind. Might be worth a try if you're a big vetiver fan and want to explore every possible iteration of it, or you come across a heavily discounted bottle. Can't see how it would beat out many competitors, especially not at its high price point.

This is Lalique Encre Noire with slightly better defined wood a spicier vetiver and a more interesting musk and juniper added in the drydown. That sounds like a lot of differences and it iis enough to set this apart to a degree, but they are damn close. One would make the other redundant in a collection for sure. Personally I'd rather have the Rouge Bunny Rouge for the Juniper in the base which gives it a more dynamic and interesting drydown. As it happens this was made by the same perfumer as Encre Noire and all of its flankers, so it's fairly obvious this is a rehash of the same formula. Nothing really wrong with that as the original was a great fragrance adn this just sort of refines it a touch. Go for the original if you want the raw, dark depths and this one if you want the more refined, fancier younger brother.

Came across this sample again after years - I'm not feeling the juniper as strongly this time, I guess that gin hangover is now more of a distant memory. Thankfully! Today it feels a little soapy, clean, subtle. Not a bomb, more sophisticated and quiet in sillage. Not one you can clear a room with, but this is a good thing here. And third testing: so spicy. nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper, coriander. Each time I sample this a different aspect is emphasized on my skin... I had a feeling the juniper would ruin this for me...that's somehow a note that I very very rarely like. It gives the perfume a whole new herbal vibe that just reminds me of strong gin and bad hangovers. I guess it's a negative association for me...the other notes are very nice. I smell strong chilli pepper amber and woods.

At the start, it smelled like marinated gherkins with generic woods. I love the brand, but my nose incorrectly perceived some notes in this fragrance's opening. However, 30 minutes later, it started doing divine things. If wood can be made from crystal, it is the case. Magical Natalie Lorson and genius Alexandra!
