Dogwood Blossom

I bought this at the Athropologie /Urban Outfitters / Free People outlet as a travel size that came in an elegant blue velvety box, and I was not disappointed. Fragrantica lists the main note as tabacco leaves, but it is the green tobacco flower, which I grow, and love it's evening scent while I sit outside in my garden in my teak chair. I smell a real carnation or pink during the dry down. People think of carnations as scentless pops of color from the Florist, but grow one and let it loose in your garden for some daylight spicy scent. I smell a refreshing ginger during the dry down, but it coverts to the teak and Tonka bean, warmed with honey and amber. I like to wear this scent with my wool clothing and leather gloves. It isn't necessarily a Winter scent; rather, it is a late Winter scent when you're wearing a light sweater chomping at the bit for Spring. You could even mourn the last day of Summer when the frost kills the tobacco flowers and the pinks become dormant.

I went to Marshalls a couple weeks ago and was browsing through their men's fragrance section and found this bottle on the shelf for $12. I sprayed it on myself; liked it, ended up not getting it, but I couldn't get the scent out of my head. It's very subtle vanilla with a touch of bourbon sort of smell. I love it honestly. Very sweet, and strong chocolate, honey, tonka bean, with a touch of cigarettes. Thankfully the cigarette smell does not stick around for the duration of the fragrance, but it *is* there and can be off-putting. Certainly a cold weather fragrance, definitely gourmand.
