Nocturna

Finally got around to trying this. What I love the most about Nocturna is the constant evolution of the scent. I don't think it's actually comparable to Sunset Hour. Before this review, I specifically went and got my sample of Sunset Hour, put a couple sprays on my right hand and the profiles aren't similar. Sunset Hour is a fruity, bubble gum sweet spring-summer fragrance. Regarding Nocturna: Smells like Angels' Share with melon at the open, but that comparison fades super quickly. It has that type of a resinous open. Clearly feminine - at its core, after the instant drydown, this is a peachy-floral scent with very natural smelling components. That base vanilla note adds to the blend by making the peach more sugary; so think sugared peaches with floral tones. NOTE: This "peach" aspect will be melon to some, lychee to others. It's sugared tropical fruit basically, but I will say that it's not so much fruity as it is sweet and floral AND POWDERY. The ambergris and sandalwood give it a slight smoky undertone in the base after the first ~20 or so minutes as well as an ever-so-slight warm spiciness, but you really have to go looking for these - they are not at all noticeable in the air. EDIT: I subsequently tested SHL's God of Fire and that actually smells eerily similar to this, with the peach here being the mango equivalent in the SHL. So I think God of Fire and Nocturna are the best comparables to each other. When I presented the comparable, it was at 0-0, so it appears people are on the same wave length regarding this comparison. Longevity I'd expect on the lower end of long-lasting, so 8-10 hours. Sillage I suspect will be moderate for most of the scent's lifetime, but it does open strong and remain for at least 2.5-3 hours. This is fine for both day and night wear because, to me, it has a certain youthfulness to it. I'd say target demo is women between 20 and 30. I think it's best suited for spring/fall and summer date nights. This is not a typical gourmand fragrance, there's too much going on. It's also not dense enough to be a winter fragrance. Value is going to be okay strictly for the quality of the scent you are getting.

I don’t know how to describe this scent properly. It is not a bad scent, it’s nice enough. But it strongly reminds me of something else that I have smelled before. And that something else was way way cheaper than Nocturna. This is certainly long lasting on my t-shirt, but I am underwhelmed for the price. To me, the deep 7+ hour dry down of Nocturna is similar to the dry down of Dahab by Kajal or Posi by V Canto. Coming back to it 24 hours later and Nocturna does not really smell like Dahab. Nocturna is definitely much smother and more refined. Nocturna is not a bad fragrance, but I still can’t get rid of the thought that I have smelled something extremely similar before for a fraction of the cost. The longevity is excellent: 24+ hours on cotton t-shirt.

I wore this yesterday and the wife and I went to eat and halfway through our meal a waitress who was not our waitress came over to our table and said "One of you smell really good, it is all we can smell standing all the way over there, as soon as you came in and walked by" I told her what i was wearing and then googled it, she got out her phone and asked if she could take a picture of it...I will say it does not smell like any of the ones people are saying, I do overspray both on skin and cloths to get the room filling performance and scent trail, it is warm, seductive and very sexy...

I want to write another review after owning and wearing Nocturna for a while. Nocturna has become a love for me, just like most of the fragrances from Royal Crown. Nocturna is not synthetic at all, it does not smell like Dahab or Posi (or anything even remotely close to anything from these houses). It is alluring, elevated, and refined. It boast one of the best ambergris usages in perfume that I have encountered. Highly recommend to try it. The performance is really good too. Yes, I agree that it is expensive, but to me it is worthy of being a signature scent.

Beyond seductive. Nectary, aquatic fruits on top of bright lush florals. As it dries down, the sweet velvety vanilla gorgeously contrasts the amber-forward slightly salty ambergris. It reminds me of a marriage of two of my favorite perfumes - Delina Exclusif (juicy litchi florals) and Boadicea 1907 (sweet and woody).

I think it smells like a mix of Angels share and Erba Pura which I like both. Strong, resinous, ambery and musky. Great longevity, for winter or fall only.

This is a good one, warm yet fresh, really does evoke a sunset heading into the night. I would say unisex slightly leaning feminine.

OMG, talk about a masterpiece of a fragrance! Absolutely, positively love at first sniff.

Whoever put that this reminds them of Megamare needs to lay off the crack pipe. There is FAR from a dark sea water, salty oceans or anything challenging like megamare / lattafa atlas has, yes there's some ocean like accords to this but it's subtle, more the less in the background as a supporting note than full blown dark salty water that atlas is. To me the top comparison is about as silly as saying Bentley For Men Absolute smells like the original Davidoff Cool Water! Put simply, this reminds me of Paco Rabanne one million royal and then after less than a minute it's very Paco Rabanne Invictus (edt) like. Imagine in the original invictus they took out the grapefruit and then replaced it with this much more feminine than invictus edt approach. If we go by the almighty note pyramid. The peonies and magnolias. The fruitiness is instead coming from the peach, melon and litchi. The only thing really obvious in this is the vanilla. If this was 10+ years ago and I was a perfumer I would have loved to have shown this to the creative director of Paco Rabanne as this is absolutely something I can see them release. This is undeniably feminine. I get it that almost every niche fragrance has to be marketed as unisex to sell better, but I can't see men wearing this. age wise - almost any, 20 - 40 ideally the only thing challenging about this fragrance's MSRP. I would love to smell this on women, anything beats the countless times a week I smell Baccarat Rouge 540 clones.

I got a decant of this because I'll never be able to afford a full bottle ($500!!!) and I really like it. Mysterious and rich, not too fruity to me personally, but I also really like gourmands, which this is definitely not. It actually smells a bit chocolatey on me, which may be a combination of the sandalwood and vanilla? Something to note: I've had a couple people tell me that it reminds them of a dentist's office- specifically the plastic/rubber laughing gas nose masks. So keep that in mind! Probably not worth the price tag.

This is quite sparkling, for lack of a better word. The aroma chemicals in this make it lift off the skin and create a bubble around you. It is not rich or heavy in any way. The closest thing this reminds me of is Noir Exquis by L'Artisan Parfumeur, but much airier. I like it but would never pay the retail price for this.

This is my first experience with this house. As for the fragrance, honestly, the opening is quite nice, but the real beauty is in the middle. This dry-down is one of the best fragrances I've ever seen, and the longevity is excellent.

If you're into sweet niche scents, you've smelled this before. It's definitely a crowd pleaser. Sweet, syrupy, fruity. Reminds me a bit of Sunset Hour by GB but less fruity than that. I can't wait to see what people say it smells like, because it's very familiar. Performs like a molecule heavy fragrance. Smells weak on my skin but projects wildly into the air. Price is a factor for me here. I would judge less harshly if this wasn't 500 USD!

At first I was enjoying the sexy tropical fruity/floral scent One hour later I developed an insane migraine 🤕 This is VERY strong, I had to wash my arm twice with soap to get rid of 80% of the smell Ambergris with sandalwood are heavy in the dry down and have a suffocating quality for me unfortunately

On my skin, this pulls V E R Y amber-y and goes in masculine territory (though I do not mind masculine fragrances), but we are talking manly-man scent 😅 This is beautiful to be sure and I am sad (though relieved for my wallet) to say that I will use my 5 ml sample and leave it at that...

Well done (though not worth the price imo) but not for me. I was hoping the ambergris would be less prominent but it’s a bit too present for my taste.

This is quite okay. But only that. There’s no complexity to this fragrance that warrants the price point. This smells like a fruity body spray. I’m missing the amber, the depth and the complexities to this. Very forgettable. Bottle is beautiful!

Romantic moments always need a romantic perfume....Nocturna Starts with a charming smooth Peach note which is not too sweet but mixed with Floral & Powdery nuances...there is a Smoky amber heart coming from the sandalwood & ambergris which gives it a warm soul and strengthen the blend...balancing the fruity notes & preventing it from being too sweet...You can easily feel the high quality of the ingredients used here, making it smooth, elegant with rounded edges...the transition between its layers is very smooth giving the effect of linear blend but it is not...at the late drydown, you can still feel the fruity nature mixed with powdery woody vanilla... Royal Musk Nocturna smells like tropical fruits, with the melon and peach being most present. They aren't strongly fruity at the same time, but my real problem is that the ambergris is heavily amplified adding a weird fishy undertone. This ends up smelling weirdly like Matiere Premiere Vanilla Powder because of that ambroxan too, which was probably used to create the ambergris scent. If something like TT Cassiopeia was made less fruity and more musky powdery sweet with Vanilla Powder. Like that same musk, also in Jusbox Sisters b4 Misters which was done the best and Ella K Orchid K. That means you can easily get the same profile for 2-4 times less than what Nocturna is going for while still being well performing due to that musk. Why should I pay an insane $579 for Nocturna when Jusbox is in the high 100s and Orchid K and Vanilla Powder is close to half the cost while still being overpriced themselves?

Love this one. It is sweet and woody but also very uplifting and fruity. The dry down is ambery still with some fruits lingering about mixed with vanilla. Long lasting, moderate projection. It is not a beast but it is not shy either. It creates a nice scent bubble/trail around you. The first day I wore it I got asked what I was wearing twice and I hesitated to say because it’s quite pricey and really only us frag heads can understand why we pay so much for perfume, people who aren’t into the hobby think we’re quite mad haha. On the topic of price... do I think it’s worth the full retail price? No. Definitely not. But I got a great deal on mine at maxaroma, they have sales often so keep a look out. Still it was in the $300 range after discount but much better than $500. No regrets! :) I’m delighted to own it and that bottle is gorgeous!!

The opening has a warm, pointed amber opening with a hint of nuttiness in the background. I liked it. It had this powerful feel, but...some fragrances have dimension, where it’s like traveling through layers of notes. This one felt more like a wall. A strong wall. It didn’t shift much on my skin from first spray to 8 hours later. After that it emitted a sharp powdery bittersweet note that wasn’t what I was expecting. I’ll keep trying, as I have a 5ml sample, but don’t think this will be a FB buy for me. It’s sad. I love Crown Royal, but the fragrances I think are amazing from this house don’t last and the ones that don’t work out on my skin last all day.

Sweet peony on a bed of sandalwood. The fruits add a light freshness throughout, and it all rest on beautiful dark amber raw materials. Extremely well blended and regal long lasting banger from my fave house! ❤️ 💛 💝 upon first sniff this reminds me of La capital from Xerjoff without the strawberry, leather, and saffron nuances but of course more natural. It also has their classic ambergris accord dry down which I adore 🥰 I wish the house would come back out with more natural exotic scents like they use to we need more brown juice lol! but I get it those materials are expensive and the house is in the business to make money. Beautiful none the less

There is some kind of a hidden secret in this scent which makes it mysterious and dark yet tempting. I find it very attractive and I do take my time to use it because it's an expensive one man and cannot afford to buy bottles and bottles of this one although mine is about to end it in like 2 weeks, thankfully, it doesn't require so many sprays and stays for like hours and hours but need to find a better pocket-friendly alternative as cannot afford to buy this fragrance at this time of the year when the other festive occasions are round the corner and need to buy dozens of gifts as well!

Nocturna definitely fits the name for this fragrance she’s dark, mysterious, sweet, fruity and ambery. If Lilith 🐍🍎 had a scent she would smell exactly this. Very much a temptress fragrance, very alluring, sexy, an airy fruity floral sweetness with a resinous vibe to it. I can't really speak on projection, but I can smell it on me and it sticks to the skin for a long time even after 3 washes it still was on my hand. Beautiful bottle and well worth what I paid. Rate: 8/10 I'm interested in purchasing more Royal Crown fragrances in the future Sultan, Al Kimiyah & Ambrosia is on my list.

This perfume is so beautiful. The opening reminds me a bit of Pas Ce Soir from BDK, but as it dries down it feels more like Christian Siriano's Silhouette, but much more sophisticated and mature. The blend of sweetness and warmth is perfect. It's romantic and mysterious and kind of sexy. It never feels too fruity or too sweet. The Amber, Sandalwood, and Vanilla add a heavenly warmth. If this scent were not so expensive, it might be an every day scent for me.

All I noticed was a piercing sweetness with this fragrance. I was so disappointed after several You Tube reviewers described it as complex and they were practically swooning over it.

A very potent dark seductive evening scent. I have it for purchase on ebay and posh.
