Upper Class

One of the most authentic Raspberry note which I know I’m totally in love with Raspberry scents and I appreciate a lot well blended soft leather and suede perfumes like Oud as well. Anyway, the best raspberry scents are those where leather or Oud is combined with it. Raspberry is not an easy note to make because it is very difficult and slow to make oil from it and is therefore almost always made synthetically. Raspberry in Upper Class is unfathomable, it’s incredibly beautiful and natural, not too light or sweet, and it performs strongly enough and it also lasts for hours without fading straight away after the opening which is unfortunately the case with so many fragrances. Soft, sophisticated leather accompanies raspberry, and gentle oud deepens the raspberry aroma without being the main character. Vanilla brings softness to the blend and Ambergris adds a sensual edge, keeping this berry scent elegant, believable and luxurious. Spicy notes of Frankincense and Myrrh balance the sweetness of Raspberry and vanilla and Oakmoss creates a subtle earthy base to the concoction. I don’t get any smoky feeling. The scent is intense, but not sticky or too thick. I think it's suitable for use in warm weather without being heavy at all. It's as perfect a raspberry as you can imagine. It's not juicy fruity and clearly edible which always makes a perfume less elegant imo. For some Upper Class certainly lacks complexity and may be a surprise how strongly the scent builds around raspberry. At the same time, it is rare to capture the aroma of raspberry as beautifully as it is done in this fragrance and that is why I appreciate the scent so much. The other notes of the fragrance beautifully support the otherwise difficult to achieve natural long-lasting raspberry. Although there are many raspberry-leather and raspberry-oud fragrances on the market, they are not this raspberry-heavy and I wouldn't say this resembles any of them, love them. I mean for example Frederic Malle The Moon , Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, Tom Ford Ombré Leather, PDM Godolphin , Roja O - The Exclusive Parfum , Roja H - The Exclusive Black Tier , Widian London, Omanluxury Paramour, Roja Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Haute Fragrance Company Delicious Kisses I don't have any longevity problems with this one as I get 6-7 hours good wear which is enough for me and the sillage is not bad either. I think on my skin this is feminine leaning unlike all the ones mentioned above which are either unisex or masculine leaning. On my husband's skin Upper Class feels unisex though, it's clearly darker on his skin than on my skin. I would say that Delicious Kisses | Haute Fragrance Company has a similar emphasis on raspberry and leather, but the raspberry is clearly synthetic there and unlike the house's fragrances in general, it doesn't feel as high quality. Leather fragrance are generally in your face and right to the point where the leather note announces himself and become the protagonist in most perfumes, they are used which I have smelled however Royal crown upper class is the one of the few exceptions I have smelled where they are not the protagonist. Leather is just part of this fragrance like a role player in a play then the main character – This play has many role players they play their part and move on the next act! Some notes play good part like raspberry and vanilla which provide the relief in between heavy notes like spices specially coriander – leather and oud – It’s clearly is a great blend and perfumer Antonio Visconti has done an amazing job in making sure leather does not take over the perfume which is not an easy thing to do IMO Upper Class defiantly has a Je ne sais quoi or X factor in my opinion in terms of leather perfumes – Its last more than 8 hours on my skin with mild scent bubble by which anyone who comes in that bubble will appreciate it and from the beginning till the end it has the sophistication which the name of this perfume is trying to convey – Only issue I see with this perfume is hefty price tag of 470 $ for 100 ML with extrait concentration however if you have money you have my Approval to try and may be buy this perfume ! 9/10

I bought a decant of this to give to my brother to test drive. I was intrigued by the Raspberry (my favorite fruity note) listed in the notes; and somewhat apprehensive of the Oud. I tried a tiny spritz on my wrist, first. Wow! UC opened up fruity; slightly spicy; a little green; a little dry; and very clean. I kept waiting for the dreaded Oud to show up and take over; but, it never did. The Iris slides in nice and smooth, cool, rooty and dry. The woody aspects add depth, with Cedar keeping the Oud in check and peppery spices lending a hand. This phase goes on FOREVER with Raspberry in the background lending its fruity support. UC slowly gets softer, richer, deeper and a little warmer. Then a soapy, new leather mixed with fresh cut wood sets in. This composition stays clean, rich, deep and mesmerizing throughout its long life. The sillage could be huge depending on the amount sprayed. It smells even better from a distance, actually. UC is totally unisex. It smells classy and expensive. I'll have to get my brother another decant, as I'm curious to see how it presents on masculine skin. I'm keeping this one for myself! 😁

I don’t know what’s wrong with (tester) one I purchased from Perfumeonline.ca but it’s like water from faucet, no scent whatsoever, I cannot even describe it, since there’s no scent. Too sad because the one I tested before was amazing.

I must admit, I may have walked into trying Royal Crown with some bias as that gaudy cap and optimistic pricing is a bit of a turn off but I cannot deny that this is very nice fragrance. The raspberry note is there at the open but don't let Tuscan Leather/La Yuqawam take over what you think this smells like, as this stands on its own and doesn’t really overlap those. What it does start off with and continues into the mid is some similarity to Aqua di Parma Colonia Leather with that common birch tar leather (yes that is shared by Tuscan Leather, Ombre Leather etc.) and some green leaning notes, probably from the coriander. After it warms up on your skin however the resinous myyrh and somewhat caramel vanilla notes pop through and takes it into its own fragrance from the mid to the deep drydown. The further it goes into the drydown the softer it gets and spices tend to dominate, so it ends more on a slightly sweet peppery woody fragrance. An interesting transition for sure. From mid to dry down I would say the leather that was there at the top is almost imperceptible. I think it is a little weak on performance considering it is supposed to be an extrait but I think would operate well for a unique office or formal fragrance as it is not punchy and just gives off as its (rather conspicuous) name suggests, a touch of class. edit: I recently ran into this from a discounter and picked up a bottle. The juice came very dark and not like the pic above or like my discovery bottle (or previous pictures on the discounters site) and was muted and missing the bright resinous leather opening and was a more subdued sweeter opening. I have no reason to believe it was a counterfeit so it's possible this has been reformulated. I returned it.

I’m at a crossroads with Upper Class. The coriander in this smells like you forgot to put on deodorant. Coriander is one of those notes you really don’t wanna mess with. In this case it’s mild but still potent. I’m surprisingly impressed with raspberry notes in this, it really offers a unique angle that compliments the upper class guy. However, if you’re trying to impress a lady, the coriander could turn your chances into a negative glances. Don’t interpret my review as a complete write off, sample it, and see how it jives with your body chemistry. The coriander has me pumping the brakes on truly liking this. However, I’ve now reached the dry down and I get candy floss and the coriander has drifted away significantly. Good scent but the coriander on the top and candy floss on the bottom don’t really do it for me.

This one grows on me every time I spray my decant. That raspberry, vanilla myrrh and soft leather mixes really well and lasts forever. But it ́s very feminine and sweet. Would never wear it myself but love to smell this on a lady. Sad that the price is out of all reason.

This is more of a nasty cloying sweets! Definitely cloying vanillas mixed with berries on bed of iris & myrrh with allot of burned cedar and an ugly leather. Sort of a headache to be honest with that European style oud, and cheap musk! the ingredients ARE quite full of quality but the blending method and the categories of the materials mixed in makes it smell quite cheap. So imagine an extreme dosage of vanillas, with raspberries, then doses of oud, and myrrah, And cedar. ANd iris, AND ambergris,, ANDD leather, ANDDD ... oh my... that's just a GRAND headache rather than an upper class. Ironically, later it smells like grilling in the woods with that balsamic veal on a flammable coal! Not actually a real veal rather than a burned coal flammable coal, which is similar to the hideously smell of "Interlude Man" by Amouage, and a bit like "Bonfire" by Demeter, tiny like "Fume" by Hendley, and a bit more like "The Holy Mountain" by Apoteker Tepe, but mostly it's the lighter version with more balsamical of Amouage. Then it returns to a cloying vanilla, raspberries, and cedar, with doses of leather, and iris! it just swings back and forth, but just once! first cloying, then grilling, then cloying again but creamier. Well, i believe it's the least creation that i liked from Royal Crown as i wish it didn't presents the modern Cary Grant as Cary was behind this inspiration, but what to say! although i thought i'd save the best for last but it didn't go well this time :/

Beautiful sweet raspberry, on a bed of their famous leather! Same leather as in YTZMA not sure why this is compared to tabac Royal but that’s far from how this smells. It’s sweet and almost sharp like YTZMA but heads into a more ambery fougere in the dry down. It’s surprisingly unisex! Love it, for leather to be in the top of this perfume the leather is also surprisingly toned down! Something in this is burning the holy hell out of my hand. 🤷 but I just can’t quit spraying it ... used my 50 ml halfway up and just bought it .....100 ml here I come. This might be better than ytzma! There is something very addictive about this juice
