Wicked Wahine Hibiscus

Wonderful to see this page added to the database! Wicked Wahine Hibiscus may contain Hibiscus, I don't know. But it most certainly is a nice dupe for Prada Amber when layered. It might be more unisex, actually, and I like to layer it with Fancy Nights for a sweeter and closer approximation. The duo is FANTASTIC if you love strong, modern Orientals! Having done a side by side comparison, one arm wearing Prada, the other wearing Hibiscus/Fancy nights, it was impressive. On my skin at least, they were twins! The only caveat to this fragrance is if you were expecting something very floral and feminine. I was shocked at the actual scent versus my expectation. It's more like a unisex niche - complete with a slightly punchy mean/green note, which settles down nicely under the vanilla in Fancy Nights while adding enormous longevity. Not for newbies to fragrance or those who just want a pretty beach scent. It took me a few weeks to realize how complex and interesting Hibiscus actually was, and then it became my delight. If you're looking for a Hawaiian vanilla-fruity-floral, look elsewhere. Budget Winner for those who love strong unisex fragrances that stand up to the summer heat. I find it blossoms on humid days but needs to be applied with a light hand. Wicked Wahine Hibiscus may well be one of my strongest fragrances. FIVE stars!

I need to update my previous review and add that there IS some (unlisted) Patchouli here. It's not a lot compared to Angel and other Mugler fragrances mentioned, but if you're sensitive to Patchouli or your skin amps those notes, it is as well to take note. I personally find Angel a bit much, and although this is bold and love or hate, it does not affect me in that fashion. It is also close to Prada Prada, as my previous review states. I don't actually like the Prada - I prefer this! LSAUG describes this (indescribable) scent as well as anyone, and I appreciate her ferreting out the nearly bare list of notes here. To say that Hibiscus smells expensive compared to its price would be an understatement. It is mature, unisex, mysteriously spicy, and has good sillage and great panache. For example, if you enjoy Amouge fragrances, then this is likely your tropical dream. While not smelling hugely floral, it nonetheless feels marvelous in hot weather and manages to create a bold and niche tropical feeling. Five stars - no complaints or drawbacks!

If you're looking for an affordable yet very well executed dupe of Mugler Angel, look no further. This is an AMAZING and very affordable Angel facsimile. I also detect a little Angel Muse in the mix- reviewer forêt below was completely on the money with these observations. I would say this does not smell cheaper than Angel though to be fair I have not sniffed them side by side yet. I will say that this has more polite sillage though it is not weak by any stretch, so if you want Angel without the nuclear projection and designer price tag, Hibiscus is a fantastic option. I see other reviews making references to the notes list; throw that notes list in the trash. This smells like Angel, end of story.

Recommended by a fellow Fragrantica member. Prada Amber clone, so of course I love it. Very pretty smell - very strong, full of amber. I asked a girlfriend how I smelled and she said it smelled clean to her. Purchased on Amazon and was not expensive at all. A lovely fragrance. Definitely a keeper for me.

This is beautiful and interesting especially as it ages on skin. On first spray I get fresh mildly spicy green which I assume to be the hibiscus paired with a nice warm amber. After a few minutes it turns into sweet almond & vanilla extract on top of a calmer green. I wouldn’t classify it as a gourmand though. After a couple of hours it is a very sultry amber almond flower with a lingering spice. The initial blast and first couple of hours lean feminine but after that it settles into a much more unisex scent on my skin. Very interesting performance, I currently have it sprayed on two different spots a few hours apart and they are similar yet very different. This smells like it would be wonderful in the winter, giving me holiday almond cookies with fresh cut greens & spices, and in the summer a wild sexy unisex amber that I think will play with heat very well. Definitely worth a shot for the price and I think I’ll be collecting the other scents from this house soon. I also love that this is a Hawaiian brand doing Hawaiian scents. I’ve seen a couple of vintage bottles of the regular Wahine floating around and I wonder how they’ve aged, might have to snag one and see.

This perfume is really nice. There is a spicy greenness that smells to me like ginger lily. I wonder if that is in the composition. It is a tropical flower. This has a very unisex quality to it that reminds me of JS Fancy Nights but w/ an added almond note. Spicy, warm amber a great unisex perfume. This is not really very floral. It has fruits, spices, amber, vanilla and almond note to my nose. If this is a dupe for the much more expensive Prada Amber (which has gotten pricy) I would buy this. I also think a man could wear this perfume.

Gosh- I just wanted to check here because this smells almost EXACTLY like Angel Muse to me, one of my favorite perfumes! Now I obviously need to try Prada Amber! Anyway I bought it for $15- yay! Update- Now this smells like original Angel to me. I am doing a side by side and they definitely smell very similar. Interestingly I wound up trying Prada Amber and I have never smelled anything so icky. I say Wicked Wahine wins hands down!

I love the vintage Wicked Wahine and even love the modern Wicked Wahine. I am an original fan of Thierry Mugler Angel too. Wicked Wahine Hibiscus is an amazing dupe for Angel. Years ago, I purchased Chopard Wish because it was said to be like Angel. It isn’t. Wicked Wahine Hibiscus is what Chopard Wish failed to be. Highly recommend.
