Royall Yacht

Update: got some time to visit my local Brooks Brothers to sample every one of the Royall Bermuda releases, If you are looking for a modern scent, Royall Yacht stands as the best from the lineup, Noir comes in as second, the others appear to be outdated sweet scents. Recently I noticed I had rewards piled up with Brooks Brothers so decided to try some of their fragrances. Previously I had used their Brooks Brothers Blue, a 50 dollar fragrance that became readily available at discounters then once discontinued shot up by wishful sellers online. So I thought I would buy one of their other fragrances but alas they are back to their original Royall Bermuda partnership. So after some research I opted for Royall Yacht, which many stated online is their best modern fragrance out of the lineup. Kind of glad I went with that, I guess it is blue fragrance as advertised, its specific, unlike any other I have tried. Noir blue is one way of putting it. A bit heavier than usual blues, kind of sweet wood but dries a tiny bit more spicy. To me it's in the same vein as Brooks Brother blue, maybe a bit more sophisticated and mature in fact and in tune with what I would imagine a Brooks Brothers signature scent would be. There was a review on their site that said it evoked the vibe of being on a yacht with the deep ocean wind breeze passing by, and I kind of agree about that for the opening, then it dries down less sweet, but still fresh. Notes are accurate, sweet amber/myrhh/wood with some lemon spice on top, and some light jasmine in the middle. For projection, I’d say its probably 30 minutes max and a 3-5 hour skin scent. On the weaker side, at least to my nose, but a bit more than a lot of modern fragrances. As for value, this has been reformulated a bit through the years so in that regard I get why many agree the modern formulation should be priced at 30 usd instead of 60, but I paid 15 post credits and I’m satisfied. Quick mention about the bottle design and quality. I love it, mostly. Given it's an American made fragrance with American made bottles, I didn’t have high expectations. But it really is a solid well made heavy bottle glass cast with a heavy metal cap. It ships with the atomizer in box, which is just a cheap little one, its kind of an either or situation between the cap or the atomizer, which I find strange given how well the rest of the product was made.

The "Reminds me of" suggestions are wild. I get a D&G K or Matin Martin Limitless vibe. I don't get a Royall Muske vibe. Probably a lighter scent than K or Limitless, so good for a splash on or midday refresher.

Royall Yacht is simply a very sweet musk fragrance. It is a weak fragrance that has very little projection and becomes a skin scent after about 30 minutes max. A nice fragrance if you want a soft sweet musk that will not be discovered unless you are being intimate. A much better choice from this brand is Royall Muske which is a bit spicier and less sweet but much stronger and longer lasting. 6/10
