Garnet

#1215 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I picked up a "Royalty by Maluma" discovery set on Amazon for $11. Two for men, "Garnet" and "Onyx". Two for women: "Jade" and "Amethyst." [There are like 30+ "Amethyst" scents, all for women, and I don't know any woman that wears that stone. I gave an amethyst pendant to a girlfriend when I was five years old (Mom gave it to me to give to my girlfriend because mom never wore it). Cathy put it on at the time, Never saw her wear it again. I don't think women are as big on Amethyst as the marketing guys think they are.] I first noticed the men's scents on Jomashop. $20 an ounce, so I usually would have just blind bought it, but the discovery set showed up, so I did that. Gives me a chance to check out two of the women's fragrances while I'm at it. So. About "Garnet. It's an EDP with a few pretty commonplace notes, that I didn't expect to be as potent as it is thanks to a strong dose of frankincense and elemi. That resinous combo is one that's gotten my adoration in scents like Natura "K Max", MFK "Oud", Dior "Eau Sauvage Parfum", "Sauvage Eau Forte" and "Sauvage Parfum", Montale "Full Incense", Dior "Homme Sport", YSL "Babycat", Paris Corner "Rifaacat", "Lalique White in Black" and "Spicy Electrum", and probably a dozen or more Amouage scents. If I searched I could probably find 30 more that I've loved with this note combo front and center. I especially love the absence of rose, a note which makes most resinous scents a little grandma juice to me. And this is long lasting on the skin, moderate sillage. I would not use this as office wear. Night time, not day time, cooler weather. Cheap enough that if you like frankincense at all it's a safe blind buy.

IMO doesn't have the apple 🍏 of YSL Y so don't expect that. Nowhere anywhere in the world is Apple listed as a note or ingredient in Garnet. ❌ It is however, a fantastic powdery lavender profile - that opens with citruses floral geranium and has a clean laundry feel. Good 6-hour longevity and as others have mentioned a huge cut above most cheapie fragrances in terms of quality of ingredients. Smells luxurious in the air and up close. Good alternative for anybody looking for a clean fall or spring fragrance that might be tired of Lacoste White.

Wow! This is basically Y EDP in a different bottle. It may only have 70% of the performance but I got the small bottle for $14 shipped to my door! Smells insanely good right from a fresh bottle, no maceration required. Blows away Fakhar and Odyssey Mega. Not much apple, but it absolutely nails the signature Y DNA that many other clones miss. It's a good thing the apple is toned down, it's my least favorite part of Y EDP. I don't usually gatekeep, but I may in this case.

Holy shit! What a pleasant surprise! Smells of quality esp for the price range. Similar to y edp but not a clone. Just in the same scent profile. For what it can be had for it's def worth the 20$ price tag and outshines most other frags in the same price range.

Got this on Clearance at Marshalls for $13. It is a 1oz bottle which is plenty for my collection. This is the highest quality "dupe" of the Y line you can buy. Amazing quality and perhaps even better than Y EDP. If you see it, buy it. This is WAY ABOVE Lattafa Fakhar or any other dupe out there. This is decent quality.

Smells like a cross between Y and MB Legend Spirit. The vetiver in this smells like the vetiver in CK Defy EDP which actually ruins the entire fragrance for me but I am not a fan of vetiver at all. Other than that it's a good fragrance if you can find it for cheap. I got a 1 oz bottle at Burlington for $20.
