Not a classic crowdpleaser, but a decidedly complex fruity, spicy and smoky fragrance with enormous depth. Ambergris plays a central, somewhat ambivalent role here, and you have to like its salty, animalic aspects. Fragrance art for lovers of perfumery! Thumbs up, as with all Rubini creations.

It's okay, I was expecting more. This smells like a more spicy (timur and pepper here) version of senyoko kujira densetsu, definietly redundant if you have either. Edit: Okay It’s pretty good, spicy sweet and salty, with a citrusy olibanum in the background. The timur gives it almost like a ground spicy pepper feel. Considering a full bottle

To my nose this is the ocean, not space. Or perhaps space pirates! Reminds me of The Grudge by Beaufort. Has a few green notes that start to assert themselves as the slimy low tide smell backs off. It's a daring attempt for sure. Could be the smell of heavily used, sparingly washed EVA suits. Or the smell of a ship full of refugees from an aquatic planet. Obviously and as already mentioned, this is the very definition of an unsafe blind buy.

Lovely and interesting scent. Yuzu with peppers are very pretty together.

I'll preface this by saying I'm primarily a fan of niche, strange, 'fragrance as art' perfumes. They represent the majority of my collection. Many of my all time favorites are strange, 'out there' fragrances with odd and intentionally polarizing notes, so I'm not only just familiar with this approach to perfumery, I actively seek it out. This is the most repulsive fragrance I've ever tried. But Not Today smells like a more approachable version of this, which should be horrifying to anyone who's familiar with that other fragrance. Not one tiny fraction of this fragrance smells of space (that honor easily goes to Sruli Recht and Mark Buxton's "MASS"). I know the inspiration for this was more of a "new world", but it legitimately just smells of rotting, musty flowers, and manure. And more rot. Like if you mixed cow dung and an old compost bucket together. Which I guess in a sense does resemble what one might consider a new world to smell like, that's brimming with decaying corpses and animal dung...? But it's a stretch for me, on the best of days. Nuvolari is an absolute masterpiece, so I was absolutely shocked when I smelled this, in the worst way possible. I wouldn't keep a bottle of this if it was offered for free.

I am really sorry to say that this smells like salty/seaweed cum This smelled worse on paper than on skin, but beware - this is very difficult to scrub off, and I have paid the price of this experience Do NOT blind buy based on notes

I was really excited for this release as I love Rubini and the Space Theme. Highly disappointed after testing it. Smells like canned fish. The algae/seaweed note completely ruined the fragrance.

Fruity seaweed, made me gag. I’m not being dramatic, something in this I hate beyond words. Perhaps if the seaweed note was gone it wouldn’t be half bad but it’s pretty disgusting.

In Genesis, God creates the firmament to separate the waters above from the waters below. While Hyperion’s inspiration seems to draw from that dividing boundary, what emerges on skin feels more like a celebration of what the firmament reflects on both sides: water itself. In many cosmogonic myths, water is the primordial singularity, the generative principle from which everything emerges. Symbolically, it embodies chaos and birth, dissolution and infinite potential. Hyperion appears to draw from both dimensions of this element: the abstract, archetypal one and the material, tangible one. Incense plays a crucial role in this regard. I find it particularly effective at lending transcendence to the rest of a composition. It almost functions like the suffix -logy in the sciences: a device that transforms an object into a discourse, matter into contemplation. The fragrance rests upon two pillars: smoky resins and oceanic elements. Black pepper and olibanum form a classic perfumery pairing, yet here they are joined by yuzu—a material remarkably suited to marine compositions—a pronounced algae accord, and two sharply contrasting saline ingredients that seem to embody the dual nature of water itself. On one side stands a generous amount of ambergris tincture, providing structural depth and those unmistakable marine nuances: humid, organic, and alive. On the other is Ambrocenide, its synthetic counterpart—alien, almost unrecognizable, born not from biological and geological contingencies but from human intervention. Two opposing ways of being oceanic: one ancestral, the other artificial. The result is an incense accord that feels only lightly fumigated, strongly Orthodox in character, yet infused with saline, humid, oceanic, and even abrasive facets. Hyperion perhaps occupies a space somewhere between Spell 125 by Papillon and the lineage of marine incenses exemplified by Squid and Cote Maquis. We thought we would have to reach the stars to encounter true otherness. Then we descended into the abyss and realized that the first truly alien planet is, in fact, our own. P.S. The decoration on the presentation box, while evoking distant galaxies, bears a striking resemblance to the microscopic life forms inhabiting the deep sea.

Peppery, coniferous, slightly animalic, with yuzu top to bind it all, and a white-tea-like freshness to draw you in. It’s also slightly creamy and reminds me somehow of TT Ecstasy (minus the mineral notes). Very nice. Leaning masculine, although a lady who appreciates SL Fille en Aiguilles would probably beach’s to rock this if doesn’t overspray and let it meld with the skin.
