Idilios

It is very rare that a fragrance House excites me. I believe I have become a tough customer after about a decade of fragrance collecting. I am excited! RUBINI has quickly become one of my top favorite houses of all time. A true artistic expression. Every fragrance in the collection connects together with a true intention and a clear story. For a moment I became emotional because I realized, after sitting with his fragrance for about an hour, the subtle transition tapped into something I have not thought about in a long time. I still don't know what it is, but it felt like a cathartic experience. When I researched this fragrances on their website, they use that exact same word and it was like a lightbulb turned on. I was feeling exactly what very true intention was. Typically a fragrance to me is supposed to have an attractive quality or something that expresses sexiness. This time is all about sitting with yourself and just taking it. Everything. Every memory every emotion. This is a true work of art. I truly have no words. RUBINI is a masterpiece house. I am reading that some people say this fragrance does not last. That is not true at all! It dances with you just like a summer breeze. Gently in and out. Every breeze slightly different than the previous. It is translucent. Warm without any spice. I have to say most people have gotten this wrong. This is underrated just like everything else in the brand. A true work of art.

The star here is osmanthus with its aroma reminiscent of peach and its leathery, almost smoky facets. And yes, the usual suspects are also on board: coconut, champaca, musk. But if you are looking for a striking suntan oil fragrance, you won't find it here. Idìlios is still a Rubini fragrance: multi-layered and surprisingly different. It only seems to smell like a Caribbean idyll, which is much more of an Asian one. But this idyll is in danger. Plastic is drifting onto the shore everywhere, you can literally smell it. But never mind, let's enjoy the idyll one last time. It smells so good!

Yep, that's coconut! It's a sheer but very legible coconut-water note, refreshing and summery, with some peachy-fruity touches as well. Coconut in perfume usually has a trashy beach party vibe, due to its associations with suntan lotion and tropical cocktails; but Idilios is actually fairly sophisticated. We may be at a beach, but it's a private island, and our drinks are made with fresh coconut, not Coco Lopez. I might also be able to smell the champaca, as a swoony tropical floral note blending with the peach (and peachy osmanthus). Within 3 hours, it's very faint, just a hint of light coconut and a more vanillic sweet peach. Apart from the poor longevity, Idilios is lovely. Easily my favorite coconut scent yet.

There’s something very bad in it, like sour spoiled milk that makes it unpleasant

Plastic over fruits and tropical notes. Too bad, the bottle is cool.
