Annabel Lee

This was the first body mist that had such a complicated relationship with me. At the first ever sniff (on a tester paper at J*lita store), I instantly fell in love with her and bought her despite already being overwhelmed from sniffing many other fragrances (y’know, nose fatigue.) Unboxing her was the first thing I did as soon as I got home, and when I finally sprayed her on my wrist, I fell in love again, and... quickly lose interest. She really did feel like a love at first whiff as soon as the top note hits; the refreshing and innocent mix of lychee tea and pear felt so welcoming, until she began opening up. I immediately realized it was her red flag, because as soon as the scents that Annabel Lee was mainly marketed for, vanishes, she suddenly turned all-woody, almonds, and worse, cashmeres?? Bro it’s like Cashmeran enters the chat and RUINS the entire vibe like a group project partner who insists on C*mic Sans. My nose had never scrunched up so fast, and I ended up judging her too quickly, and failing to see (or smell) the good side of her. I had, like, two weeks of buyer’s remorse. Now, it’s been three months after I consistently wore her every. Single. Day. It’s hard to have more than three “luxury” perfumes as a high school sophomore with no job or intern whatsoever. But two days ago, a group of juniors (who are not one of my babies btw, aka we’re only acquaintances) were talking about perfumes, and suddenly said (in front of me, who was currently buying something at the canteen), “...kalo parfumnya mbak (my name) khas banget sih,” and my heart immediately sank. Is that a compliment or an insult? What if they’re trying to say that my armpits stink? So I asked: “Eh, yang bener nih?” And they collectively replied with “Iyaa/Iya taukk/*nods*”. After a brief, painful small talking, I spiraled into a mini identity crisis at the school canteen. That night, I tested Annabel Lee on my mom (she LOVED the scent) and began sniffing my mom like a bloodhound, before realizing my mistake. Annabel Lee had a moderage sillage, but dramatic projection. She smells like artificial Lychee tea, but the dry down isn’t actually that woody, instead it’s like raspberries and something sugary. Sweet, but not too warm like vanilla. Like liquid sweet. Stevia. And a bit sour. For a body mist I bought for like $9 for 150ml AND with THIS quality, she easily became my top 3 best luxury body mist purchases. (Because I only have 3 luxury body mists lol ((OKAY I KNOW SAFF&CO DOESN’T REALLY COUNT AS LUXURY BUT AGAIN, THE KEYWORDS ARE: I AM A HIGH SCHOOLER))) She doesn’t play hard to get, is not a gold digger, stays with you all the time, and doesn’t embarrass you in public. What more could you ask for? Conclusion: She’s a 9. But 10 if she came in travel size. ILY Annabel Lee. Not so sure about Saff&co tho. I didn’t have the greatest experience with sniffing their other perfumes n body mists. Annabel Lee is that one friend you thought ghosted you, but actually texted back while your phone was on Do Not Disturb. Thx for reading n have a pretty day.

First spray, it smells pretty... synthetic? Very strong of artificial Lychee Iced Tea. But as it dried down, it calmed down and gave a soft, fruity scent. When I first tried this perfume, I was in Indonesia. The scent survived the humid heat through my public transportation venture, though at the end of the day, it wasn't as strong as the first spray. Then I'm back in Europe, and the scent was a little too strong at the beginning (in the dry-winter air) but it survived longer and eventually settles into a fresh,sweet scent. Usually for winter I'd prefer to wear my Channel N5 or Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar or The Body Shop White Musk, but this fresh scent somehow still smells good in winter. Would defo repurchase

i'm not going to lie, the packaging was what drew me in. this is a very light and rather simple fragrance, which is veerryyy heavy on the lychee (be warned!!). it's very easy to spray too much in my opinion, and i can always still smell it on me the next day. it's definitely reminiscent of a lychee iced tea, and i could imagine this being a very good gift for a younger person who isn't too interested/just getting into perfume.
