Bergamot & Hinoki

This review is for the bath gel and body lotion - I’m using this as my summer 2025 base layer for fragrance. The gel is mild- smelling and the lotion is more intense, especially after application. Some fragrances I’ve found that work beautifully over this for summer are - Orebella Salted Muse Krigler Lovely Patchouli 55 (nighttime) MFK Absolue Pour le Matin MM Replica Beach Walk I bet a lot of Le Labo scents would go great with this - it supports woodsy, mineral, citrus. Some of the cleaner Byredo could work, too. Blanche and Le Tulipe - I don’t see Bal d’Afrique playing nicely in the sandbox but might want to try. I tried the Orebella Windows2Soul with this and it’s a big nothing-burger. But Salted Muse - omg, all day, every day. going to use S&S as base layers for each season - haven’t decided yet if the Saffron or Santal will be for fall. Such great and affordable products. Love them all.

I have fallen hard for this. What it reminds me of ... here in Santa Fe there is a Japanese style spa with Hot Springs called 10,000 Waves and their signature scent/product line is actually called Hinoki. The Salt + Stone version is beautiful ... light, airy, aquatic yet green with a touch of sweetness from amber. To me this feels slightly similar to the original Omna Crystaline by Bvlgari but more natural and uplifting due to the citrus and sweet touch. Byredo Gypsy Water lovers will likely enjoy this. Sometimes I layer it with a vanilla body lotion - for some reason that just works. On sale for around 100 dollars you can get. the body spray, lotion, body wash (which suds so luxuriously) and deoderant in a set. The packaging is sleek, simple and minimal. What a flawless release.

This is so, so good!! So fresh, zingy, bright, crisp, it has a nostalgic vibe, it smells really calming and zen-like. I have the body wash and the body mist and I am so obsessed! The scent only lasts a few minutes so if you're expecting to smell like this all day you may be disappointed. I love soft projectors and good skin scents so I'm fine with it. I just re-apply throughout the day. Anyone who collected perfumes in the late 90s/early 2000s will recognize this scent profile. I can't quite figure out from what, but I know I've smelled this similar DNA before. It brings me back to my fresh-faced, young, carefree days before I got real-life, adult responsibilities.

This fragrance smells like a spa in the middle of a lush forest. It’s woody, fresh, and slightly aquatic. The bergamot really shines through on my skin, with a hint of hinoki to give it a more grounded feel. The lasting power is not particularly strong, though I wouldn’t expect it to be on a body mist. I love layering it with the solid Chloe Cedrus to get a bit more longevity. The packaging feels extremely luxe and seems a lot more intentional than brands typically give body mists. This is an extremely well loved fragrance in my collection and I want to try the deodorant version soon <3

I love a perfume that smells beautifully natural, with no synthetic notes! This one is so pure and simple and nice, I would believe you if you told me it was just a gentle mixture of essential oils. The bergamot in this is pretty dry and zesty, like standing over a jar of loose-leaf earl-grey tea, unbrewed. The hinoki is very delicate, and gives off relaxing spa vibes. Overall it's very simple but very likeable and makes me want to come back to it over and over again!

Smells exactly like Le Labo’s Bergamote 22, but with fleeting longevity. It’s a true spa like fragrance that isn’t bright or scratchy. If the longevity doesn’t bother you, it’s a very comfortable & fresh body mist. If you want something that lasts longer and smells the same but without the price tag of Le Labo, try Oil Perfumery’s dupe of Bergamote 22. A bang on impression that lasts and is absolutely addictive!

This is my favourite of the Salt & Stone range as it has such great longevity, I could smell it all day on me. This is a dupe for Goutal Eau d’Hadrian as it has the same Sicilian lemon crispness, opening notes of grapefruit & lemon dry down to sweet citrus cedarwood - it’s a true unisex genderless fragrance as there’s no floral notes, no vanilla or gourmand. This is a crisp summers walk through a lemon grove.

Love love love this fragrance. I just desperately wish it lasted longer. It sits on my skin for about half an hour, then vanishes, no matter what I do to try and boost its longevity. It's such a shame. I'll forever be on a quest to find a something similar that lasts longer.

Wow what a fantastic after shower scent. It’s clean, water, ocean, but not masculine. Def going to be going through this all summer. Love it.

This evokes rainy days in Tokyo. It does not have a very lasting essence but that is to be expected because this is a body mist.

Wet, fresh, green. This fragrance truly behaves like a body mist unlike the dark rose and oud fragrance from this line which performs as an eau de toilette. I expected a little more having first tried the rose mist, because Bergamont & Hinoki is a completely different vibe. It's much more of a stay at home and chill sort of scent. I consider it an experience fragrance since it doesn't last long and may not be smelt by others or attract. It's more for the wearer. It is primarily green with a hint of floral, spicy notes. I pick up the vetiver the most and cannot smell any woody notes. Very unisex. It is not astringent or annoying. Reminiscent of a tea perhaps. It is relaxing but scarce. Smells natural and earthy.

Reminiscent of toiletries in an upscale hotel spa. Woody, fresh and soothing. Longevity is poor but I’d love for my house to smell this ‘zen’ all the time.

I have the deodorant and the body lotion in this scent and it smells soooo good. But the body mist disappears after 2 minutes

Sprayed it in store to test it out. Did about 8 sprays and was gone once I crossed the street 10mins later.

On my skin it smells identical to Acqua Colonia Mandarin and Cardamom, but it fades more quickly.

This to me is really the perfect unisex scent, it gives me hope for gender equality.

Fresh and natural. Unisex. Best of the mists they have.

This is just okay. It nails that spa / just got out of an onsen type vibe but I found the fragrance to smell more like a candle or a room spray than something meant to be sprayed on the skin. It smells like a place. It's pleasant, but impersonal.

Smells decent but much synthetic and amateur composition leads to poor as projection and longevity

Very strong spice in the first ten minutes, then it smells like soap and fades in about an hour.

I'm struggling with this one. I have the body cream and the body mist. The cream has good longevity and a lovely texture. Problem is, I'm not sure I like the scent. The citrus feels dusty and too in your face to me, as opposed to being juicy and fresh. Much like the pith vs the actual fruit. It smelled lovely in the sprayer and pot, but on my skin it goes completely wrong. I have the deodorant in Neroli & Basil, which I love in that form. Perhaps I'll try that lotion and spray. My hope with these products was something to use after a night shower that would relax me before sleep, but it actually kept me up all night, with the scent turning as it did.

I was curious to try this scent, having heard good things about the brand. I was disappointed in this blind buy. Bergamot & Hinoki gave me no citrus, just a faint, flat floral forgotten in the cedar closet, fading to nothing.

I don't know why it's apparently okay for a brand to have 5 scents and have 3 of them be blatant Le Labo ripoffs, one a copy cat of MFK, and another of Aesop? The lack of originality or effort is honestly disgusting. This one a ripoff of Le Labo Bergamote 22

My husband is NOT a perfume guy, and he loves this. I have gotten compliments from him every time I have worn this without fail, and that is notable as he actually has a bit of an aversion to perfumes. To MY nose, it’s just a citrus-forward, simple after shower mist. The dry down reminds me a lot of JHG “not a perfume” and I believe it’s the amber compound that’s used, which I also believe is what my husband is drawn to. Amber is a very personal scent to the individual and really amps up your natural scent. I get the eucalyptus, but it is thankfully very subtle, just present enough to add that crisp cleanliness to the bergamot. I think this is well done for what it’s marketed as. Performance is not up to par with perfumes, and not expected to be. This is intended to sit close to the skin and is formulated to be safe for hair as well, so the alcohol isn’t there to project the fragrance. I haven’t personally found that its longevity improves on fabric, either. I think it is worth the $40 if you are willing to invest in the entire line. Alone, I’m not sure it’s worth it unless you’d like a nice hair mist- which is what I use it for.

My new all purpose fragrance. I’ve never used Salt & Stones body care line before. Last month I found myself in NYC with one of my girlfriends and one thing lead to another and we got last minute dinner reservations at a 3 Michelin star restaurant. I was woefully under dressed for the occasion and used the afternoon to treat myself to a new outfit and coordinating fragrance. I landed on this one- I’m a huge Hinoki freak so that pulled me in, the citrus and citrus blossoms kept me there. This is so fresh light and gentle that you’ll smell nice but not overpowering or be turning heads. Great option for someone looking for a minimalist, unisex scent that’s not in the realm of Santal. If you want to amp up the volume it pairs great with Replica From The Garden.

Tried this just now in Sephora. It’s a very energizing and zesty spa type of scent with citrus, spice, and wood elements. I don’t get a eucalyptus smell, it might just be adding some greenery to the hinoki note. Don’t get orange blossom either. Through and through appealing and lovely. Would be an excellent choice in the morning to perk you up. Taking a look at the reminds me of section I can tell you it does not smell like D&G light blue or Neroli Portofino. Not at all. Bergamote 22 is a bit similar but not as fizzy with the wood and spicy elements. This would be an easy blind buy unless the recipient hates citrus or needs sweetness.

I have the deo and its really great - actually works and the scent is long lasting and very nice. However, I don't think it works as a fragrance - I've tried a few sprays and it just feels unfinished, like ISO E Super and some other things that not complete. It might be a good layering scent but I don't think its worth $45.

I very much enjoy this, for the short period of time I can smell it. It is a gorgeous citrusy clean smell, very zesty and fresh, but like most mists it is gone in minutes. I am considering getting the other products in this scent family to try and get better performance.

I enjoy this and have the body wash/deodorant from the same line. It's a mist though and is extremely fleeting in performance. It's a good base scent for straight out the shower, but you'll want to layer other things on as this will disappear in about an hour.

I don't know why, but this smells intoxicating to me. I wish l hadn't become addicted to such expensive body care products, but here l am. I have however, found a dupe. Commodity Moss Personal, the one with the white label, smells almost identical.

Elegant lemony green spa/hotel scent that is barely there. Nice to spray on sheets and pajamas and suitcase. The deodorants work well. Good ethics. I look forward to trying the other scents.

Zippy but light citrus and some pine. It’s pretty thin, not a lot of oomph, but I’m liking it. The deodorant has more body and feel to it.

Delightful, airy, refreshing . Somewhat aquatic too .Might be the best fragrance I purchased this year. Best price deal at Sephora..

I liked it until I realized it kind of smells like a bathroom cleaner.....

This smells like Bvgari Omnia Coral, except lighter and less depth.
