Sparkling Tamarind

One spray and it’s a full-fat cola fizzing with ice and a slice. Sparkling Tamarind bursts open like a tall, ice-cold glass of full-fat coca cola poured with dramatic fizz. You can almost hear the crackle as bubbles race to the top, carrying with them the cheeky brightness of lemon and lime wedges bobbing in the glass like. It’s effervescent, gleaming, and refreshing, the kind of opening that makes you grin before you’ve even realised you’re doing it. Then the tamarind steps in, sweet, sour and syrupy, giving the cola an impression of a rich, caramelised backbone. There’s a sticky, almost glossy quality to the fruit here, as if someone drizzled a dark, treacly tamarind reduction over crushed ice. The spices begin to warm up underneath, a dusting of cinnamon is detected, although it is not listed as a note specifically, and something dry and woody, transforming that fizzy cola into a warm, spiced, late-night cola. Still comforting, still delicious, but deeper... the kind you sip slowly. As it dries down, Sparkling Tamarind becomes an addictive fusion of cola, amber and woods with an elegant, resinous quality. The sweetness never becomes childish, the spices never become scratchy. Instead, it melts into a gorgeously rounded warmth that sits close to the skin but leaves a warm trail whenever you move. It’s cola gone cosy, cola gone velvety, Coca-Cola gone grown. The Performance is fantastic. This thing clings to fabric, giving hours upon hours of wear, even after a full day. On skin, it radiates confidently without ever shouting, projecting like a perfectly pitched speaker at a rooftop party, present, smooth, and impossible to ignore. One of those fragrances you think has finally settled... until someone tells you you smell amazing three hours later. Sparkling Tamarind is polished, familiar yet elevated, a Coca-Cola fantasy made luxurious. If you want a scent that fizzes, warms, and charms from start to finish, this one is an absolute treat.

Sparkling Tamarind is quite an unusual scent with notes like tamarind and baobab tree, I am not going to lie. I don’t know what I was expecting from a perfume that contains such notes combined with coca cola, lime, fir tree and spice but it’s not instant love, like Tropylang, the other perfume from the Treasure Island collection! It doesn’t smell bad, I just want to make that clear, but it has an unusual dusty sweetness. It’s fizzy in the opening but the cola note disappears quickly. Minutes later, it’s slightly citrusy, fruity and then moves towards a woody, sweet, almost nutty direction. I will have to wear this scent for a fee more times so that I can make up my mind on it, because first impressions are not conclusive. It’s different and intriguing but I don’t know if I like it enough to purchase a bottle.

The cola note is there and all good, so are the fruits. I love the top layer, but something down there, makes it smell like cigarette smoke. Is it some of the wood? It is odd to me cause the top is very nice!
