Dali Eau de Toilette

well.... what to say about this....the story goes: i ordered Salvador Dali from the 1985 (the one with orange liquid) but instead got this one....i can't say i'm angry cause finally i've got a SALVADOR DALI bottle in my collection and i love it :D he is my role model and my idol so i don't care if i have a female fragrance on me as long as it has his name on it.... international day of happiness is very happy for me :D i couldn't stop smiling today after DALI arrived :D now the fragrance: ironically this is a spring scent and today is the first day of spring and it arrived today, the bottle is amazing and very decorative but the juice OMG... i love it, i can smell musk mixed with jasmine at the same time but not so much girly like i expected, a man can pull this off easy, it opens with brief fabric softener like smell but after a second it becomes divine :) the magic thing about this one is i tried it in the house and it gets strong but fades to skin after about half an hour but when you get outside on the fresh spring air it suddenly gets very strong and very pleasant, it's warm and happy scent :D just wow, it was a blind buy but well worth it, nobody in my small town has a scent like this so it will draw some attention and i won't be embarrassed to say "I WEAR DALI" if it was a DIOR fragrance i'd put it in the POISON line...something like WILD POISON or something like that if i would see a famous person wear this i would see JEAN HARLOW :)

I hadn't had the opportunity to test this hard-to-find fragrance, so it was with both thrill and deep worry that I took the lid off. It seems like 1/3 of Dali perfumes are wonderful, and the rest are so fleeting I'd say they're pretty useless. From the looks of all this clear transparency, I expected something very fleeting, light, aquatic, breezy, ethereal... in short: maybe very nice, but way too weak for my liking. Well, I was wrong. Very wrong. It is indeed lighter than the original Salvador Dali (almost everything is), but it's rich and warm and potent. It opens fresh and a bit sharp, almost aldehydic to my nose. Rather prominent jasmine, softened up by the rose. I'm not sure I get much of the magnolia. The flowery heart is very well-balanced. Not sweet, yet warm and inviting. In the base the woods balance out the vanilla well and keeps the sweetness on a short leash. I wouldn't call it particularly complex, but it's elegant and balanced. Adult - or maybe not, I'm sure my 13-yr old daughter will like it and I can totally see hear wearing it. But it's still adult? I would wear it for any occasion, with any outfit. I often say that about perfumes that lack personality, but I don't think that's the case here. I am really happy I got this gem. Afterthought: I have loved each and every one of the Dali perfumes in the lip bottles that I ever tried - and all the others are boring and weak to me. That is really strange.

This is a more user friendly interpretation of the mindblowingly brilliant original Salvador Dali fragrance. Also, it's a fantastic opener fragrance for the uninitiated noses who wish to try the original. It certainly has a modern edge to it. It is a little sweeter and muskier than it's predecessor. The opening blast is full of vitality with a lovely heavy, heady douse of orange flower, which adds a beautiful softness. These citrus notes, combined with the bergamot is summery and gorgeous. Rose and jasmine become a little more dominant about half and hour into wearing this one. The jasmine is slightly stronger. The dry down is wonderful. Musk, wood and a teeny hint of raw vanilla. A wonderful fragrance paying homage to it's mother fragrance, but without the ferocity and intensity - WHICH I LOVE! Mwah to the original Dali perfume too! The lasting power is good, which is always impressive for an EDT. The bottle, ah, the bottle is the iconic Dali bottle of course. I always feel special when I buy a Dali fragrance in one of these stunning flacons. I feel as if I'm buying high end art as well as a magnificent fragrance! Another Dali to add to my collection! Bravo Haus of Dali! Please keep producing these beauties!

Dali is one of my favorite artists. I love his surrealist perspective and own some of his art pieces. I've also owned a few of the fragrances too but this EDT is my favorite — frosted white mouth, clear lips, colorless juice just as pictured. It doesn't have the surreal and striking contrasts that his visual art has, but it's a beautiful, romantic perfume that is cozy and well-blended. Despite the novel look of his flacons and the affordable price, the perfume is serious and bears the hallmarks of some of the aldehyde masterpieces like Lancome Climat and Amouage Dia. A very fresh white musk, light yet grounded with soft wood, a hint of clean skin, and nicely balanced with gauzy feminine white florals. Reminiscent of the 80s and 90s, I love this style — just unapologetically good perfume that is an easy wear. It's the one that others will remember you for just smelling alluring, carefree, and elegant without being obviously perfumed. This is how you leave an imprint.

I cannot put it any better than RkrChk ( the reviewer below me ) did ! I am wow`ed by this. So fresh, such a beautiful white floral, the musk is perfect, woody and just enough sweetness. The first spray was strong strong strong, an 80`s white floral throw-back , and I thought I got a dash of powder , but the powder quickly disappeared. It is very clean. Refreshing. Maybe a little vanilla layering would warm it up, but there is no way at this time I will even try. I am happy just the way it is presenting itself. I can see it being glamorous. However I put on straight out of the shower and into a lounge set, and it is comfy, clean, and ultra-feminine - pretty. I do not find it dated at all. I have an hour into it. Love. I aquired this through a Give - Away, and I was a very lucky winner !! :) Thank you, Chix ;)

This is a very interesting perfume, it holds forever and smells like a cocktail from Gucci Rush with Kenzo Le Elephant. It is more joyfull, more young than Rush and Elephant. The price is good for such a good quality. Definitely a must try.

I can see why more-than-a-few reviewers have checked the "evening wear" category: it is quite alluring, but in a light and restrained way; the drydown lingers for over half a day; the fragrance is sophisticated, and yet playful and modern in its simplicity. It calls to mind classic-and-respectable orange-flower waters, and recent releases by L'Occitane, and Versace Versense. Still resolutely daywear, but romantic encounters occur under the sun too, do they not? Perhaps a passing smile on the street, a late lunch-date, a chance flirtation while wandering the weekend flower-market? Oh- the magic as spring melds into summer! Yet, despite all of these images and comparisons, these translucent lips are quietly parted in song: a blissful ode to The Grand Dame of Florientals unleashed unto the world back in 1985. Within the radiant melody, she can be seen as if through a pane of etched glass: delicate outlines of narcissus and amber and jasmine and tuberose. Sandalwood. A thin cloud of white musk, a gauze of spices, gracefully set in place. She is there, beyond the overlain traceries of tangerine and the paper-thin slice of cucumber. She is there. I can hear her- can't you?

Hi JC2109, thank you so much for sharing your experiences with our community :-) You are correct in thinking that the original Dali parfum for women in the black bottle was launched in the 80s. However, this one is actually an eau de toilette (EDT) version of the original perfume and was launched much more recently in 2011. It follows the same concept as the original but is much lighter and fresher with white musk and floral notes, though similarly dry. There is also a parfum de toilette (PDT) version that looks quite like this one but in a frosted bottle with golden liquid. That was likely the other fragrance that you had in your mini collection. Just to make things confusing, the brand recently launched a limited edition version of the PDT in the original black bottle. Personally, I have only tried the parfum de toilette and this eau de toilette so I am unsure how they compare to the original pure parfum.

8years ago, when i first tried it, i didnt like it. It smelled synthetic, cheap and kinda annoying. I tried and tried to find something in it but nah. Few days ago i ordered it, because i wanted to try it again. Well let me tell ya...... it is a tottaly different lerfume for me now! Maybe because the first time was winter, or maybe something else, but now in summer, at the sea this is tottaly new perfume, adorable, addictive and almost love at first sniff. I cant believe it!!!!! I cant stop sniffing myself. Creamy flowers, summer vibes, fresh, feminine, unique!!! I am so happy P.S.i like to revisit perfumes after period of time. Some which i hated i fell in love and some which i adored i dont like the same as before. Strange....

I ordered online with seller described this being Dali 'from 1985'. despite of seeing bottle different I thought it may be mistake and I will get as I ordered a scent from the original Dali. once opened I have to admit this is similar, but.. much lighter, much daily, less aggressive. I looked at fragrantica and found this one. this bottle and packaging is exact to what I just received. do I like it? probably yes. it still has something own 'Dali' what you can find in other Dali Aphrodite collection. with length and composition of this scent I think it may be ok for daily office wear and be noticeable.

I bought this three days ago because I read here that is similar to D&G Feminine, a fragrance I didn't get a chance to try, but always wanted. I have been wearing it and it is a absolutely lovely musky white floral. It is pretty lasting and although light, it makes its presence known in a discreet way. I'll make this my main summer fragrance, it'll perform great in those hot days. As far as similarity, to my nose this a (very) toned down version of CK Eternity, which I love but cannot wear in spring - summer, because it is too strong. Happy for another successful blind-buy and highly recommended.

[November 29th, 2013] Dali EDT is such a beautiful fragrance that does deserve some attention. I would not say it is only for women. It reminds me of those Serge Lutens' perfumes designed for both genders. Dali EDT has precious qualities: it is fruity, musky, floral, powdery. It lingers on skin in a tender and delicious way. Not overwhelming or annoying. It has a subtle sensuality but also transmits a notion of a delicate trace of personality that only the gentle ones have. One of the most exquisite fragrances I have ever tried, honestly. Give yourself a try. Let yourself entice.

I like it, yes, it's fresh, light floral, musky and joyfull but it's not my style of perfume unfortunately. It's from the perfumes that is very hard to dislike, a soft musky cloud aroung you. It's very easy to wear and pleasant, inoffensive and much more suited for younger ages. Unfortunately for someone like me, who mostly likes intense florals and heavy almost-unisex perfumes, it will go waisted.

I am surprised, that it's quite good. It's light and musky, without any sweetness. That's all I can say about it. Nice compared to the EDP, which was extremely strong. Salvador Dali's scents can really surprise sometimes.

Not bad. Fresh and citrusy. Only longevity isn't long lasting :/ I would say this one is unisex.

A softer, much more affordable, Chanel No. 5 type of fragrance. I like it!

Starts juicy with sweet orange and neroli, then gets a little rosy before lying down with clean woodsy white musk. Lasts close to the skin for the morning. It's nice, but sadly not weird or innovative at all. I want more from the company founded by the master of surrealism--give me swans reflecting elephants, or burning giraffes, or something cool.

This fragrance smells like something from the past, yes a perfume that I remember to have smelt during my childhood. It has a typical soapy vibe, it makes you think of white colour, something pure, clean, but without lacking elegance and sophistication. At first spray is a blast of harsh, soapy notes but it doesn't take long and it becomes a beautiful musk-jasmine-woody notes symphony that can't leave anyone indefferent. This is a particular scent that could be hard to find an occasion to wear it as it's not an easy everyday scent in my opinion. Nonetheless it's quite suitable for summer as it's fresh and airy but ne careful on the dose, just a few sprays will do for this perfume.

This wears like a floral woody musk on me...It is an amazing brew of just the right amount of fruit, florals, musk and woodsy notes... On my skin, the tangerine & bergamot are just 'almost there'... The magnolia is sumptuous, the African orange flower is elegant -- the fusion of the jasmine and rose with the woodsy notes mix heavenly with the MUSK & vanilla...All these notes make for a surprisingly sensual concoction... I have a couple of other SD fragrances, but this one bowled me over! This easily has the staying power of an EDP [on me]...I'm happily adding it to my daily faves list...

Here is the same magnolia as in L'Air (not to be confused with L'Air du Temps!) Nina Ricci. The delicate, subtle, soft aroma of magnolia, slightly creamy, merges with the aroma of the skin, leaves a thin trace. Romantic, perfect for spring. It is quite persistent and diffuse. Absolutely does not look like either Chanel 5 or its progenitor Salvador Dali edt, (and it doesn't remind me D&G Feminine). It is an independent fragrance. The color of the liquid in the bottle is light yellow.

The eau de toilette is lighter and fresher feeling than the eau du parfum. This feels to me like a younger relative of Tabu, it is similarly evocative of Cola or Dr. Pepper without necessarily smelling like either of those things. I personally don’t pick up citrus at all. It’s a warm, soft, romantic smell, so it seems appropriate to me that I received this as a Valentine present. I climbed into bed on satin sheets with this on last night and it was perfect for the occasion.

Bought this cause I read some people compared it to D&G Feminine, my signature scent in the early 2000’s. Oh boy...it does not!! It doesn’t even come close 🙄 I agree with MsLittlejohn, it’s a more Chanel no 5 type of fragrance. This is not my cup of tea. Be aware, don’t buy this for a D&G Feminine dupe!

This is quite sophisticated, classy and feminine perfume, I like it: it has the same spirit that 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden and Chanel no 5 has. I recognize tangerine and magnolia. On my skin like Chanel no 5, on my clothes like 5th Avenue. I love Chanel no 5 and I like 5th Avenue.

My partner calls this my BAM BAM BAM perfume. It's definitely not for the shrinking violet. I have to put this on an hour before we leave the house if we are going to dinner. GORGEOUS! I feel rich and elegant when I wear this fragrance. A big blowsy 80's style perfume. YUMMO

It's creamy soft floral I don't get citruses at all. Very nice and romantic but I can never decide when and with what to wear it. Something about it reminds me of Pepsi ...
