Le Roy Soleil Homme

This is simply one of the best ones I have ever owned, and, IMO, the best creation from the house of Salvador Dalí. It opens very fresh, it has great sillage and it will definitely get you noticed. It certainly is a bit flowery, but not at all feminine, like someone else said here. That blend of jasmine/rosewood, to me, is the most fascinating note. However, once it settles, you end up with a quiet ambery/kinda sweet aroma that is just to die for. I don't think I need to mention its fantastic bottle. The box would be my only complain. Highly recommendable, especially bearing in mind it is found these days for very low prices.

The astringent grapefruit opening reminds me of Curve. Thankfully, it quickly moves on to the jasmine and geranium floating among the middle notes. The two florals are very subtle, blending together well enough so one note doesn't dominate the other. Not a powerhouse by any means, this is a light scent that would be great for summer wear. I actually wish it was a bit heavier.

This was one of my favorite summer scents in the 90s. I recently got a bottle of the Extreme flanker because the original was nowhere to be found. That was disappointing - not at all the same. Only mentioning this so others don't buy the Extreme hoping to find an approximation of the original.

I'm waering since 1999 and i can wear rest of my life.. Not so masculine but really good for everyday using fresh and flowery. longevity 7+hours on my skin.. scent 9 /10 Longevity 8/10 Sillage 6/10

Smells like a blend of fruit mixed with ambar and sandalwood spices..but later its changing to a very interesting and fresh floral scent...It is a very interesting and surrealism aroma!!!

A birthday gift from my girlfriend, that's why I treasure it. My bottle's almost half full. Lovely floral smell with grapefruit. My signature fragance.

Amazing highly masculine scent - I would swear it has a leather and wood note like an old Chesterfield chair.

Very 90's! In the bottle and on first application I get mostly citrus and cedar wood. It's fresh and a bit sweet. Then there's a horrible cough lozenge moment....but bear with it and the Sun King settles into a light, bright and subtle balance between the woody citrus and the florals. I get rosewood I think and a gentle hint of amber. It's surprisingly soft and not as astringent as the initial fresh citrus and wood note suggests. Very wearable and mood-uplifting when I just want something light for a sunny workday. More masculine than feminine.

Floral casual refreshing scent with weak longevity ( maximum 3 hours ) and good sillage. I'm not satisfied but I like it.

At first sniff Le Roy Soleil may seem like yet another late 90s woody aromatic. Boring, fresh and uncomplex. But as you continue to wear it, it reveals how good it truly is. It has a distinctively artistic feel to it, like it fits the convention of a woody aromatic, but differs from it as well. The opening is a nice citrus note, which is quickly replaced by florals, mainly carnation which slighly resembles some of the florals found in YSL's Jazz. It dries down with the floral notes present and woody notes giving it warmth and depth. This isn't the most complex fragrance ever made, but it is actually quite distinctive. According to todays standards, this is borderline unisex, as it's quite light and heavy on the florals. Overall, I think it's a very good woody aromatic, and a nice change of pace from the other woody aromatics of the late 90s. The fact that it can be had for a song online only helps in this regard. Longevity is good, 6-7 hours. It sits quite close to the skin, so don't expect massive projection. Rating: 7.5/10

The last time I had Le Roy Soleil, it came in a transparent bottle and smelled of decaying wood with effervescent top notes thrown in to make it more palatable. It was strange, but I kinda liked it...although not enough to buy a backup nor replace it when it was all gone. And then I saw the repackaged model, now in a black bottle, and curiosity got the better of me. And no, it's not a reformulation--it's the not same scent. It's a cheaper version of Guerlain Homme, remember that one? The nose has cloned Guerlain Homme, right down to its indolic overtone, but with understandably cheaper ingredients. It will make for a nice substitute, so I'm quite happy about this purchase.

10 years ago I was choosing a gift for my stepdad`s birthday. I knew he is quite traditional in his cologne preferences and I didn`t want to disappoint him. The Sun King was my pick, and I`ll tell you why.It was bright and open-minded, slightly sweet and masculine.It`s a fragrance for daydreaming, for men, who remained boys forever...The pelargonium, tangy and fresh, captured my attention, it makes a nice turn from a clean citrus opening. To tell you the truth, later on I used it a couple of times just to smell that pelargonia leaves on my skin.

A refreshing & casual scent for all seasons IMO that to me smells like a lighter version of the "perfumey" Faconnable Pour Homme (one of my favourites!). Intriguingly attractive bottle BTW with its metal lid, and translucent sun motif. I would definitely like to add Le Roy to my collection, were it not that I already have the Faconnable.

Some similarities to Eternity for Men. I'll bet this one had a lot of iso e super, though there may have been reformulations. I had a bottle around 2008, but had to swap it off due to the "chemical" nature of it.

One of my great discoveries of the 1990s. A complex fragrance with an incredible woody note that reminds you of the smell of old, wooden pews in a church.
