Sun & Roses

This is a great summer perfume. Better on days when temps are in the 80's or above. When I first got this bottle in early spring, something about it smelled very bitter/artificial. I wasn't much of a fan at first. But today, I grabbed this on my way out the door for a run. The weather was HOT and sticky. I wasn't expecting much after my previous experiences but wow! She delivered a sweet floral cloud of happiness. I just can't believe how much I like this girl today. It just smells so darn pretty. I'd say this is smells like candied peonies more than rose, but nonetheless she is fresh and perfect for a really hot day. I know one perfume I'm taking on my vacation in July!

What an aptly named fragrance this is! It perfectly paints a three dimensional image of it's namesake. The fragrance opens with sunlight, expressed through cheerful notes of bergamot and magnolia flower. The bergamot is bright, but not juicy, and rich in tea notes, functioning as a constant sunny backdrop to the florals. The magnolia works alongside the bergamot. It is freshly floral, lemon tinged and radiant, but not at all soapy. My nose does not detect any aggressive, seedy, pink grapefruit nuance. As the heart of the fragrance opens, rose appears. She is a garden rose, dense with petals, her heavy head drooping under the late summer sun. Her fragrance wafts with a cool breeze: fruity, sweet and pink, punctuated by minty geranium leaf. Beside the garden rose grows an apple tree. A green apple has fallen from the tree. It lays cradled within tall, unmowed grass. The grass smells sweet and green, laced with crispy clover. The fallen apple is overripe and being devoured by insects, yet it still emits a pleasant green, albeit slightly fermented, perfume. If you look closely into the grass, you can see violet flowers blooming. Their scent is so natural and purple, quite delicate, and not at all cosmetic or powdery. There is also a maple tree growing in this field. It's leaves have just begun to fall. They smell sappy, warm, woody and sweet. If you've ever smelled Bath and Body Works Winter Candy Apple, this is the maple leaf note I am referring to. The fragrance reaches it's base, and a sun shower dapples the rose with sparkling dew. The rain accord here is expressed through shower fresh white musk and ambroxan. This fragrance instantly reminded me of Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit. They share a similar note breakdown, and both possess an ethereal, breezy, natural quality perfect for those who dislike cloying perfumes. This is also my only complaint about the perfume: how I wish it lasted longer! Overall, this is a beautiful, tender, natural scent that I would consider unisex.

I adore rose scents, so this was a very wanted addition to my scent collection. It somehow disappointed - it is a sweet, powdery rose, with a hint of citrus, warm and pretty, linear, with medium to weak lasting power, but from SD I was hoping for something more. Vanilla and the woody notes are insignificant. It is not bad, I will probably use it up, maybe layered with something else, it is just a bit boring. The bottle is gorgeous.

Today i had a chance to test it on my skin, sprayed Sun&Roses on one hand, and Crazy Kiss on the other and i couldn't tell them apart! Half and hour later, Sun&Roses is still citrusy but i dont smell the rose, more like the leaves of the rose, not the petals, which bothers me, its greener than Crazy Kiss and i go back sniffing it for consolation, just makes me want the more sweet and powdery Crazy Kiss more :)

Fresh apple and some citruses. It doesn't have big sillage. Citruses are bitter. Perfect for summer. Not bad, but doesn't make a big statement. Beautiful pink bottle. :)

Pleasant summery scent, but nothing extraordinary. A bit of citrus, little fruity, typical floral. Safe buy for sure.

I've had this perfume for a while now, a blind buy based on the notes described here but I don't find myself reaching for it very often. I only bought it because I love Dali's work, but I think his awesome weirdness should stay in the art of painting. What I mean is ... this perfume smells like his art looks, if that makes any sense. Sure, all the notes are there but it's like a constant struggle for dominance, it's fresh but also rosy (not the kind I like), I can't even begin to describe it and I am instantly lost. Unless you are really into it or trying to "get it", just like his art, it will leave you stunned and wanting to move on, baffled about what the creator wanted achieve with this fragrance (if "weird" was the keyword in the focus groups when they tested it, then it must have passed with flying colors). Yes it starts with a hint of apple and citruses but those fade away so quickly, and so do the middle notes - as a middle I only get a dark red rose grandma smell, but you immediately end up with the base notes. There is something definitely bitter and woody to it, I kind of imagine smelling a damp dried out pine cone, however weird that might sound but that is what you are left with. Definitely try it out before buying, I think it's the kind of fragrance you either love or hate with all your guts. I can only wear it in autumn or winter as it's too heavy for warm temperatures. Don't let the bottle fool you, this is not, I repeat, NOT a pinky-smelling perfume! :) I've found myself wanting to try more fragrances from Dali, but whenever I smell them in the store or read about them online, they just remind me of Sun and Roses and it's just too risky for me as I know I'll hate the dry down for sure. You might even take this as a unisex fragrance, but I really think you should be a weirdo not afraid to smell like stuff that's not supposed to be in perfumes, in order to like Dali fragrances. I sometimes have THOSE kinds of days but at this rhythm, I'm never going to finish it, haha!

Very green and bitter with dry sharp wood. Like a sundried old wooden house surrounded with weeds and tall grass. I can also smell something that reminds me of grapefruit-peels. The drydown smells like a sauna. A very powdery, woody and dry/hot fragrance. Not for sweet-tooths. Edit: I see that others here thinks it is too sweet 😱 did I get a faulty bottle or something? Because this is the most unsweet fragrance I have ever owned since Clean Lovegrass. I will try it again when it is summer

I had a chance to test it, and I thought I'd like it. At first it's really fruity floral, some roses come up, and the freshness shows. But as it settles down something bitter takes off the scene and I don't find it something I like. So bad, because I really thought it's nicer :) (but in some way I still think it is quite pleasant). It doesn't last long on skin, up to 2-3 hours. Very light scent, very spring like.

This is a floral fragrance with a bit of an aquatic feel. It's airy, green, fluffy, bright, and perfect for anyone who loves a beautiful long lasting floral. Its unpretentious, happy and effervescent. As a male, I can see this on a 'girl-next-door' type of girl, always sunny and very easy to like! 🌞

Just the fragrance I was looking for! It smells like pink roses in the sunshine with a hint of sweetness. However, the staying power is not great, it would need reapplying every two hours. I imagine a very pretty and carefree woman to smell like this.

The ingredients look very nice, but what about staying power? Anyone?
