Acqua Essenziale Blu

BLU has the similar aromatic, fresh, and aquatic nature of the original Acqua Essenziale at the very front of this scent. However, there's also something seductive and mysterious going on in the background of the scent that's reminiscent of Bleu de Chanel and the original Armani Code. Further back, and you finally find a sweet nature to it that reminds me of Versace Eros. Don't let that throw you off, though. BLU is generally a fresh and spicy scent, with a subtly sweet and balsamic nature to it. With that in mind, this thing isn't a permanence beast in terms of projection and isn't cloying so long as you don't over spray it. BLU leaves a subtle presence that can be worn casually or to a date, and is fresh enough to be worn in warmer weather despite it's deeper base. This is generally a warm weather scent and will be noticed the most when worn in the summer from my experience, but you can pull this off in the spring as well. It garnered me a decent amount of complements, if that's what you're looking for. Not only did I find the some girls really liked this, but a lot of guys would be curious as to what I was wearing as well. Overall, a great scent of designer quality. I actually purchased this back when I worked in Macy's, and they were selling this, and it's two flankers, for a designer price tag. I still got it cheap thanks employee discounts. The point is, this is now being sold much cheaper at places like TJ Maxx without a reduction in the quality of these colognes. So if you're looking for a good scent on a budget, then consider this.

Upset with myself I didn’t get this beautiful blue sooner. I’ve been in the fragrance game for nearly two decades and absolutely adore blue fragrances and somehow Salvatore Ferragamo’s Acqua Essenziale Blu has avoided me since its release in 2014. I have always been curious about it since it has had high praise as a Blue fragrance and as well as the creator of it being the absolute legend Alberto Morillas, I enjoy so many of his works.. Anyway today it popped up at my local rack store and I did not hesitate to blind buy it. I opened it up in my car once I left the store and gave myself three quick sprays. The A/C immediately started blowing this absolutely gorgeous scent all around the inside of my vehicle. All I could do is sit back and tilt my head back and grin while my nose was completely enveloped with the rush of this amazing fragrance and I thought to myself how did I not have this beauty in my life a long time ago. In my opinion this is one of the best very affordable blue fragrances that exists. It does blue in a soft and silky smooth sexy way, it’s slightly unique and all the notes come together so well. Another thing this stuff has great performance and sillage, I was pleasantly surprised and it just made me fall in love with the fragrance even more. If you enjoy a good Blue style fragrance I’d say this one is definitely a safe blind buy for the price point.

An appreciated member of my collection. Sometimes a great value scent with a lot of performance features is better than higher end collection mates. There is something about grounded, down to earth ways that can exceed using exceptional products. Those more costly characters are solid elements of my rotation, still, a frag like SF's AE Blu wins a lot of situational yardage. Ferragamo was striving to bring the house into range of every-man's wallet and still provide something exceptional. The nose Morillas listened closely and banged out some champion designs. Acqua Essenziale Blu is fun to wear in comparison to Aqva by Bvlgari. I enjoy experiencing the similarities and differences in how they progress through a day. Aqva costs more than twice as much and is better overall, but Blu beats it in some angles and does things Aqua can't on some wears. Spraying cheaper yet quality cologne holds a certain joy - and reserves for costly juice an eminence it is due. Blu's mix of water & land is actually exceptional. The synthetic aspect is caught in some sniffs; I work with it in understanding that is part of the essential reality of this blu water. What I especially like about Blu is the muscle the woods put in the water, the balance of land and sea and the dependability of the performance in varying weathers and situational factors.

I found this at Burlington’s are pretty cheap, and I’ve been curious about it because I really respect Ross from TLTG’s opinion. And, I do love the risk of blind buying, and seeing what you get. It definitely happens when I do I get a fragrance that I really like it first, and then I get super tired of it really quick, like art of universe. And then sometimes I’ll get one that I find to be really generic, like this fragrance, but as I’ve tried it a couple of times I’ve really become infatuated with it. It took some getting used to, and I love that aspect of fragrances. I’ve become a collector, so having this fragrance in my wardrobe is pretty cool. And I don’t really get the direct comparisons to Dylan blue, but if I was just accumulating a collection for yearly use, and I already had Dylan blue, then this one would be redundant for simply application and versatility. Not saying either one is better than the other, I kind of see them as the Beatles in the Rolling Stones. You’re probably gonna prefer one over the other, but still enjoy both.

I'm a big fan of versatile scents, and couldn't be happier with this blind-buy cheapie. After a fresh, vibrant opening (which is uplifting but not super unique), Acqua Essenziale Blu heads in a direction that isn't in lock step with other "blue" fragrances. This is a classy blue. There's a spiciness and backbone that gives this juice enough gravitas and longevity to be taken seriously. I would not recommend this as a "summer freshie", though it could function that way when needed. Rather, I consider this to be a signature-scent worthy fragrance that has the complexity and performance to be worn year-round. At less than $30 for a 100m bottle, this one easily holds it's own with others more than three times the price. Backup bottle worthy. For this price: 5/5. P.S. - I've read that co-flanker Acqua Essenziale Colonia is also excellent, and it's on my current wish list. Alberto Morillas, the nose behind the OG Acqua Di Gio and the more recent ADG Absolut, created this entire line. This genre of fragrance is right in his wheelhouse.

Alluring, warm, and spicy with a gourmand vibe... The blend of tonka bean, cardamon, lavender, and patchouli base notes in Salvatore Ferragamo’s Acqua Essenziale Blu produce a pleasant and appealing fragrance. Performance is above average that exceeded expectations, lasting 6-8 hours and projecting at arm’s length, or greater. Additionally, given the note breakdown, Blu provides great versatility to be worn to most events and across all seasons. There has been reference in historical reviews of similarities to Versace’s Eros – I will agree with those comments. Both are great fragrances that have the spicy gourmand vibe. While flying under the radar, the Salvatore Ferragamo fragrances are deserving of greater attention. I own three in my collection and all are well received by others with above average performance. That said, my final tally for Blu is 4.3 stars out of 5 and solid recommendation to add to any collection. Enjoy your day and happy fragrance hunting...

This fragrance is exactly what you expect when looking at the fragrances it's compared to. I love all of these and own them all, Bleu de Chanel EDP, Bulgari Aqua Atlantiqve and Versace Dylan Blue, and if you were to mix them all in equal parts, with just a little extra of just the ambroxan from Dior's Sauvage then I would imagine nothing other than this fragrances smell. This really stands apart from most "blue" fragrances. While this does fit the mold for a blue fragrance, it's uniquely unique. The initial opening is bright and crisp, but it quickly moves into a direction quite different than what I was expecting. Initially I felt like it was gonna become something not unlike Dylan Blue (which is awesome on it's own) but it surprised me with just the slightest hint of a powdery accord. And that's what made it made it really unique IMO. The Ambroxan helped it chug along and project alot more than I was expecting, too. All in all, for the price that I paid for this (and again IMO) this has become one of the best fragrances that I can spray on for nearly any occasion and in any season of the year. Great juice Salvatore Ferragamo!! And Alberto knocked it out of the park again.

Love love love! I never paid much attention to Ferragamo's products before and came across this by chance. I had my mind made up on buying a Ralph Lauren Polo Blue Parfum (the 2022 one) but a trial of Acqua Essenziale Blu made me rethink that choice. When I gave the Ralph Lauren tester another I felt really disappointed and decided I might as well go for Acqua Essenziale instead - even if it meant travelling to a different store 15 km away and paying an additional $22 (for a 100ml bottle versus 75ml for Polo Blue). Absolutely did not regret that choice. I felt blown away by Acqua Essenziale Blu: it's just perfect for those summer months, lasts well through the day and can still be smelled in the evening although it does not project too much. Very glad I got the 100ml bottle too.

Ferragamo Blu greets you with the signature Morillas opening of citrus and pepper, here represented by bergamot and cardamom. The opening is almost immediately followed by the cleanliness of the lavender. The lavender is the real workhorse of this fragrance. It's pleasant, it wraps itself around you and stays with you in a good way. Ambroxan and benzoin labor endlessly in the background to add that spicy, ambery bit of warmth. The comments suggesting that this fragrance has difficulty with projection and longevity are obviously going nose blind due to the presence of Ambroxan, which does shut my nose off after a few hours too. Ask someone if they can still smell it on you. I guarantee they will. Among the "blue" genre of men's fragrances this is one of my favorites.

This is another great daily work/casual scent that I even picked up a 100ml backup bottle once I run through my 50ml. This will definitely will be a lifer in my collection. I get no less than 8 hours on my skin with this one, and I have received several compliments from coworkers when I wear it. I have also received a few compliments from strangers when I was out socializing and running errands in the afternoon. Overall, this is a highly versatile swiss army knife style fragrance that you can wear for most occasions and at least 3 seasons (I'm not sure this would hold up as well in the deep winter). While I prefer to wear this as a daytime daily driver, this can easily be worn out during the evening hours as well.

Before I started my fragrance journey, I had blind bought this on Amazon and was truly wowed. It's probably the one that got me addicted to frags. It's funny, because more than anything, I'd say this smells like my favorite fragrance that I ended up with: Bleu De Chanel EDP. It's also better than Armaf's Blue Iconic which I eventually purchased. This is a luxurious, more ambroxan-based, BDC. It's really that great. "More sensual than aquatic" is accurate. I have plenty of memories I have associated with this, and this fragrance alone. I don't smell any of the spiciness or metallic scents from Dylan Blue, no idea where that comparison comes from. Acqua Essenziale is much more amber, smooth and relaxing. 8/10

I really like this one. I smell the cardamom and lavender the most. Smells sweet and seductive while also being fresh and blue... Id say it works in every season except maybe winter and i would wear it on a day to day basis as well as on a night out in the summer. Something about it feels a bit more "grown up" and i would imagine a dude in his late 20s or 30s or up wearing this as a summer frag. I think its probably because it reminds me of something my dad used to wear. Will maybe buy this anyway because it smells so good. But in a prefect scenario this would still be around in 7-8 yrs and i would use it all the time then. but ive seen some people saying the line is discontinued which would be a shame.

I like this fragrance but when I bought it a few years ago it didn’t smell as described by some YouTubers (since the initial hype they are much closer). AEB doesn’t smell like Dylan Blue, any connection is a stretch and can fit hundreds of other fragrances. AEB had more fresh spicy and powdery lavender present than expected being it was compared to DB. After smelling a few other scents with cypriol I can pick that up and may be the “it” that some might not like in this. The opening reminds me of the apple used in F Black more than lemon/bergamot. Overall I do enjoy it and have used half of 100ml bottle. Good performance and projection along with being inoffensive makes a great every day wear.

This fragrance is simply wonderful. Indeed, as its name suggests, it plays in the league of blue scents. Does it resemble Bleu de Chanel? A little bit, but without the powdery note. Is it similar to Versace Dylan Blue? Yes, but in the drydown without the harsh sensation. I also feel a vintage vibe, very similar to the scent of (Latitude Longitude) released in 2000 by Nautica: citrus/earthy. At the end of the day I get the VANILLA: CREAMY, just delicious! Is it elegant? Pretty and has that Italian twist, classy and gentlemanly. It is extremely versatile, for any occasion, all year round. A signature fragrance worth owning. Rate: 🥇

I really like this one. I get a lot of lavender though, which to me makes this a rather unique blue fragrance. I also have Dylan Blue but that is much darker to me and heavier than this. This would be a super safe office fragrance as most blue fragrances are but I think I'm going to pack this one with me to St Lucia for my oct/nov vacay, it has nice airy light island vibes and I can already smell this wafting off me as I lay in the hammock on the beach sipping some island punch.

This was by absolute favorite scent through out my 20s. I remember when it first came out, in 2024 when I was a TJ Maxx. It became a absolute Kitty Kat magnate, everytime a new truck came in I would dig for it before and hold it until payday before it could even hit the sales floor and I would get greedy and buy every bottle. Whit that being said. Lataffa, Hamidi, Armaf or afnan need to make an intense elixir or at least an EDP of this stuff.. it's still one of my favorites..

Very interesting fragrance overall. I wasn't sure what to expect after trying SF Uomo but was pleasantly surprised! If you like fragrances like Dylan Blue, Y EDP and Bleu De Chanel you'll like this. The initial opening also gives me a hint of Chanel Platinum but that dies down within 2-5 minutes and becomes much more of a hint of BDC EDP with a heavy dose of Dylan Blue. Still a beautiful fragrance overall if you're into the fresh, aromatic and slightly synthetic DNA profiles.

Wearing this today love it. Def would recommend for anyone looking for an amazing blue fragrance. It reminds me of Dylan blue but of course it’s its own thing entirely it’s just what my mind goes to with similarity. Really loving it very masculine and def blind but safe can’t go wrong. You could wear this on any occasion day or night any season it’s an everyday flagrance. Def pick up a decant if you haven’t tried it. 100mls going for around $45 on Amazon.

Alberto Morillas makes another Gem! This hits most of the check boxes for the quintessential blue fragrance. It evolves nicely and settles down with ambroxin with a hint of tonka and it seems like the lavender sticks around and the patchouly adds a little darkness. For an EDT this has good performance. This is a great fragrance in the blue realm and you can’t beat the price if you compare it to what other options ate out there. For me this is a solid 8!

If you like the ambery, woody, aromatic, citrusy, powdery types of blue fragrances and want something affordable that still performs, this is one to get. This is great stuff and has some similar qualities to Dylan Blue but not redundant, it does its own thing and is beautiful in its own right. Great versatility and on my skin, it performs very well. As with Dylan blue, there's a good chance you will go nose blind but trust me its there.

Blue fragrance with a powdery twist! The opening does remind me slightly of Versace Dylan blue, with added powdery facets. Think of a generic blue fragrance, like Dylan blue, bleu de Chanel etc but more powdery, with a slight medicinal note. Ambroxan in this is toned down compared to dylan blue, less rough/sharp. In hot and humid weather, it lasts 6+ hours and was still able to catch whiffs at the 4-hour mark, can be found cheap too.

This fragrance has slowly grown on my from simply a "like" to a "love". It's very simple, and yes it's certainly synthetic, but I find myself reaching for this one over Sauvage, BDC and Dylan Blue whenever I'm feeling like applying a blue fragrance. Tremendously versatile, and the price is absolutely amazing (from discounters - I think I paid $29). Might need to sell off my other blue fragrances and keep this one!

A girl had her friend translate her language to give me compliment, that's how phenomenal it is! Very unique blue fragrance, heavy, powdery and sweet! Exceptional performance! It lasts almost 14 hours on my skin with 10 sprays! It's better for spring than it is for summer because it's slightly heavy but not winter fragrance! I'm on my second bottle, can't say enough good things about this scent profile!

The quintessential blue fragrance except it has an added subtle sweetness that reads like bubble gum on the opening. I would skip the Dior sauvages and go for this as this is not only mass appealing and likable but unique enough where you’ll never be the guy that smells like Sauvage. It’s a Swiss Army knife fragrance and then some. Also women approved which matters more than anything else. 8/10

Note to self: I love any blue scent created by Morillas, doesn't matter from which house. This has Dylan Blue dna but more powdery and softer in the drydown, with fresh citrusy opening. I love Dylan blue and powdery, this is just what I'm looking for. Not to mention the price is kinda hard to beat for such a quality blend. A blind buy safe if you're into inoffensive blue scent.

This better stay underrated. One of my best blind buys and one of the safest ones you can make. In my opinion, better than Dylan Blue and BDC in all aspects (especially price). Longevity is typical blue, I do 8-10 sprays for around 6 hours. The dry-down is just something else compared to other blues. The lavender gave me DHI vibes. Awesome daily scent in the spring and summer.

Think Dylan Blue with added Fraiche. The best blue fragrances (to me) are BDC EdP (citrus), Prada Carbon (lavender), and YSL's Blue Electrique (spice). This gives them a run for their money for 1/3 of the price. After a bright citrus opening the powdery, fresh drydown (which I think is the cardamom) is lovely and long lasting. Super versatile too, its a love from me. 4.5/5

What an extremely versatile fragrance. Citrusy cardamom open that gets a tonka sweet lavender cypriol in the heart with heavy ambroxan followed by cedar and vanillic patchouli as it dries down. Longevity is pretty good, but it's also inexpensive enough to rock at the gym (best use case is probably a double duty frag doing gym + SOTD post workout...next time).

Okay at first I didn't get the bleu de chanel clone stuff ppl were saying that is until I got bdc parfum which i can really see and has became a dumb reach must have and its like 21 bucks so you can't go wrong smells alot like duas drowning in bleu de savage fierce which is a nishane ani bdc sauavge and fierce its more like a creamy bdc sauvage mix

Summer fragrance for sure or any warm weather above 75. 30-35 bucks is a steal for this DNA. You can wear this every day and not have to burn thru your high-end stuff. First Salvatore Ferragamo frag I've bought. He makes good stuff. Probably gotta over spray? I'd say 15 sprays should last 6-8 hrs for sure. But Bravo Salvatore.... Bravo

I think the closest similarity is to Bvlgari Aqua Atlantique, only the Essenziale Blu is less aquatic and more aromatic. While to Dylan Blue, it’s like a brotherhood. You know, similar “face”, different attitude. Dylan Blue is alpha, loud and straight forward. Essenziale Blu is sigma, calm and polite. Still, both are domination.

In the drydown, I said to myself: deja vu! Something familiar! Very, very close to Noa Cacharel, almost 1/1. Effectively the masculine variant. Excellent both, when it comes to price and performance. Wonderful perfumes. As for the smell, a unique Nivea fougere. I strongly recommend, even without testing.

S tier cheapie. Pretty much get what you heard, a smooth slightly powdery blue fragrance that has a similar vibe to Dylan Blue. I’d agree with that, although this is definitely more rounded off, and not as dark. Performance is moderate. 6-7 hours. Projection is moderate as well. Arms length for 1-2 hours

Been collecting for years upon years and still one of my favorite blue fragrances. I'm almost out of my 100ml that says a lot when I have hundreds. I can't understand how someone can dislike this versatile fragrance. This hobby is full of snobs all of a sudden and annoying tiktok teens. It's sad.

I like this a lot. This is a blue fragrance but smells nothing like Dylan Bleu or Bleu De Chanel. Strong projection and sillage for the first couple of hours from 6 sprays and a nice earthy masculine drydown from the cypriol oil. For $35, you can’t beat that. 8.3/10 ⭐️

Great fragrance. I find it very unique. Some have compared it to Dylan Blue, but I don't see it at all. This will be by go-to Blue fragrance this summer. Highly recommended. I get about 6-7 hours of performance with it, but doesn't project more than 2-3 feet.

This is a very versatile blue fragrance with moderate performance off my skin. It is a fragrance that I enjoy layering because of its citrus, amber, and vanilla accords. This is also a fragrance that won't break the bank and is definitely with the price.

This has that Alberto Morillas touch all over it. If you're a fan of Morillas you'll like this. This is fresh and sexy but not over done. The drydown reminds of Versace Pour Home with maybe a Blue de Chanel. This is a fantastic fragrance!

It's the first perfume I had, i will always like it 100% better than BDC for me at least Edit: I keep thinking about rebuying it, although that would be my 3rd bottle of this, but I feel like I should, explore more and buy other things

I think I’ve already wrote a review on this but here I am again. At the price point it doesn’t get any better. Smell, longevity, price... it’s a shame it’s been discontinued. Get it while it lasts.

Dylan Blue without the incense on opening. Slightly smoother and warmer, lighter and fresher than Dylan Blue. Excellent all rounder and strong ambroxan make it an easy wear for any time really 👍🏻

Saw this at my local TJ MAXX. Heard all the hype from YouTube. 50 ML for $16.99. Had to grab it. Glad I did. Spicy powdery woods! When the bottle is empty I will purchase again!

I have this one and versace pour homme as well . They share similarities but differences are there . This one is better in longevity And scent profile is very mass pleasing

Updated Review from about a year ago: Yep! It’s still good. Lasts forever even after a shower or washing laundry. For the price you won’t find better in its category.

Great blind buy. Very good blue fragrance with depth. It’s a very clean fresh fragrance done very well. Similar to a Dylan blue. Enjoy it very much.
