Bianco di Carrara

It feels luxurious, I get a lot of Iris, citrus, powdery and musk. I really enjoy this fragrance it’s different and unique. Surprised that most people haven’t tried this fragrance.

I wish this one performed a little better, so I’ll keep hoping my bottle will eventually “macerate” and develop more presence sitting in the shelf. The thing is, the fragrance itself is an incredibly smooth, approachable, elegant and sophisticated composition. It’s so inoffensive and universally appealing that these days my hand instinctively reaches for Bianco Di Carrara—whether it’s an evening walk, work, or hell, even the gym. It’s genuinely hard to put into words, but to my nose it reads as a concoction of rooty iris with powdery nuances and this ultra-smooth suede-like leather. I also pick up a lot of very distinctive vegetal sandalwood that’s mysteriously unlisted. All of this beauty sits within a refined musky foundation—my favorite type of musk from ambrette seeds. Serious hats off to Alexandra Carlin for such a sophisticated creation. I know the original composition was done by a different perfumer, and I haven’t experienced that version for comparison, but whatever’s being sold under this name today is undeniably Carlin’s handiwork. Once again, I find myself drawn to exploring the work of these incredibly talented modern perfumers—their creations are what genuinely excite me most about fragrance right now. Alexandra Carlin, Amelie Bourgeois, Ann Sophie Behaghel, to name just a few. Bianco Di Carrara isn’t a screamer by any means—it’s intimate, almost secretive. The performance isn’t great either; I get around 2-3 hours maximum with projection only lasting the first 20 minutes or so. This line is going for some ridiculously cheap prices these days, which definitely makes me want to explore it further.
