Ferragamo Spicy Leather

The spices are nice in this but for me the leather accord smells identical to the one in Cussons imperial leather soap and I just can’t get over it. Gives it a quite old school barbershop vibe. Performance was OK, just a shame I smelled like a bar of soap. I usually prefer more animalic kind of leather whereas this one is squeaky clean. Update: I’ve worn the last of my sample today and I’m actually really enjoying it, still smells quite classic and masculine, and a little bit barbershop, but the imperial leather vibe isn’t jumping out at me so much. Actually smells very classy and I’m on the lookout for a full bottle. Funny how first impressions can be so misleading 🤷♂️ Further update after buying a bottle: I was so wrong about this fragrance initially. Yes, it’s soapy and barbershoppy, but it smells so classic and manly I can’t help but love it. Think warm spices sprinkled sparingly over a bar of cussons imperial leather soap. Think spicy 90’s department store aftershave wafting in the crisp morning breeze as you get into your Vauxhall Cavalier and put on the Stereophonics new album, the sun glinting on your gold chain bracelet as you reach for your wayfarers. Warm, clean, comforting and oozing class from every orifice.

Well I have been collecting fragrances for over a decade now and this is, hands down, my favourite of all time. When I first casually tried it on a paper strip in a local store I was immediately blown away by its uniqueness. That day I ended up purchasing something else, but once I got home this thing kept coming back to me. I couldn't sleep the night, I had to have it. This had never happened to me in the past. The strip kept lying in my car for a fair few weeks and I would get a whiff of it every time I got into my car and the scent just kept evolving one day to the other. In the meantime I ordered and received my bottle and I just love it. When sprayed on fabric this thing lasts and lasts, even weeks later when I pick the same sweater up its still lingering and the more it dries the yummier it gets. On the skin it easily does 6-8 hours for me. Absolutely gorgeous scent, slightly sweet, slightly loud but elegant at the same time. Ideally this would be a fall scent which would be great in the winter too. The spices make it less suited for warm sunny days, but where I live we have long fall/winter season and I will end up wearing it more often than not. Highly recommend.

Ferragamo Spicy Leather is a spicy, leathery and woody fragrance. It has a fleeting citrus opening, which does not last more than 5 minutes, although from the moment it opens its spicy and leathery nature begins to be perceived. As the minutes pass, the aroma becomes very spicy and leathery, showing a cinnamon smell, with saffron and nutmeg. The aroma does not change much in its development, it is a very pleasant and elegant dry and woody aroma. This fragrance is perfect to use in cool months, during the fall and winter seasons, for special situations or office work, because despite the spices it is not invasive. Its longevity has been good, it has lasted longer than others in the line, it stayed on me for almost 12 hours, but its trail is short, the first hour is noticeable, but then it goes down close to the skin. After having tried the entire Leather line from Ferragamo, I think that this Spicy Leather is the one that I liked the most, it is the most mature and elegant of all, although it is not the most versatile, but I do not recommend it to buy blindly, unless you like Bvlgari Man in Black or The One for Men by Dolce & Gabbana style fragrances.

This is such a neat fragrance. Almost immediately I'm hit with the sensation of getting into a brand new Ferrari as it is coming off the line where a guy at the factory just finished rubbing in a bergamot oil into the seating. It feel elegant. It's definitely peppery at first, but as the opening notes transition to heart notes it gets smoother with a premium woodiness to it (likely the cedar). I get whiffs of a sweeter spice with nose to skin, which I presume is nutmeg, but I'm not sure if I'm imagining those visions of gingerbread cookies while driving this beast of a fragrance down the autobahn at an incredible speed. By the time we reach the base notes, the handling is just so smooth; the leather accord glides effortlessly of the skin, intermingling with the smell of a handcrafted wood dashboard. Projection is decent, which is likely a good thing as this is a powerful fragrance in the scent bubble. Sillage is good. I wore it out to a nice dinner where it performed beautifully. By itself it's a 8.75/10. Layer it with a creamy vanilla like Tom Ford Amber Absolute and you might just have a 10/10 on your hands.

Picked this up on a good deal, having loved the Uomo signature scent I went into this purchase with confidence and boy was I correct, this is a great smelling fragrance. Initially when I sprayed this I found a familiar smell and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it , eventually it came to me and it reminds me of a much loved discontinued aftershave by the name of Armani Code Absolu ! I love that fragrance and I’m saving the last of my bottle for very special occasions.. it has the same warmth and sweet spice that the said has , a smell you want to keep going back to sniff on yourself , by once the first 30 mins/1hr passes Spice leather transforms into a beautiful leather scent with the slight spicy burning away in the background. The woods are well blended with the slight sweetness tickling the air in the background throughout the wear. This scent smells classy, exquisite and nicely masculine.I can’t wait to the colder weather hits so I can wear this more. If you are a sweet leather fan with a dab of spice and sweetness this it’s a belter for you. Enjoy!
