Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme

I bought it because I've been trying forever to re-create some sort of Frankenstein's monster version of Cristobal Balenciaga's "Cristobal" out of what perfumes are still around for me to fool around with. I will die trying and failing to reach Cristobal, but, boy, it's so fun playing around! This one had - at least in theory - a lot going for it in this direction: fig leaf, carnation and sandalwood were a perfect base to start from. It is woody and warm and aromatic and I can feel the very, very, VERY distant echo of something I'm looking for. But it is gorgeous in itself and I enjoy it a lot, regardless of my initial reasons for picking it. However, I've discovered that if I mix it with Gloria Vanderbilt (I was trying to mix in some more carnation, some vanilla and bergamot - I know it doesn't work that way, but I'm having my fun!) it creates a time portal that pulls me back into my communist childhood. Back in the days, in bleak and grey communist Eastern Europe, shops were not too inviting, let's say... The food shops were more empty than not, the clothing shops were more boring than not, the other different crappy shops that one would walk into to buy pots and pans and knitting needles and bolts of fabric were even more boring for a child my age. The only ones that were interesting and special were the ones that smelled good: the bookstore was heaven, the perfume shop was alluring and mostly out of our means and the flower shop was a magical place in which we entered only for special occasions: a visit to somebody important or for some important event, when school started and ended, for birthdays and other such things. Flower shops back then were not importing anything. No tulips from Holland, no roses from Africa, no orchids from anywhere. They were only selling stuff that grew in the communist green houses of the time: local freesias, tulips, hyacinths, roses, carnations, chrysanthemums and so on depending on the season, together with potted plants and dried arrangements all year round. The carnation was a special presence there. I seem to remember it every time I went into a flower shop, regardless of the season. It was grown in industrial quantities. They were big carnations, small carnations, red carnations, white and variegated carnations and pink and yellow and everything in between. And they usually smelled the loudest, over all the other flowers in the shop. They were the staple flowers, bought for all occasions, happy or sad. And the smell permeated the shops and it seeped into the wooden furniture and into the walls and became the smell of all the flower shops in my country. At least for me. People seem to hate the carnation smell nowadays. They call it too dated, too spicy, too "old woman", too harsh. They might be right. But for me, it is one of the very few good smells from the shops of my childhood. Mixing Ferragamo Pour Homme and Gloria Vanderbilt generated some incredible memories. The two different carnations clung to each other and to the rest of the notes and gave birth to the spiciest, most woody, clovey note that I have all but forgotten about. I was searching for Cristobal and stepped into an even older scent I had lost and didn't know I was craving. I can't pick any "dill pickle" note in Pour Homme. As a woman, I really enjoy wearing it. It is warm and woody and flowery in the best way. On my hydrated skin, it lasts for more than 10 hours. It wraps me up in a cozy bubble and makes me happy and confident and relaxed. I didn't know until today that - once mixed with some random stuff - it can also bestow the time travelling superpower.

***Update 12/31/25*** Over-All performance Vastly improves over time after air has been introduced into the bottle. Whereas before Id get maybe 5 hours TOPS with this being an extremely faint skin-scent by hour 4, Im (now) getting above average performance lasting between 6 to 7 hours on skin, and lasting (days) on clothes and while.this was never mean to be a "BeastMode fragrance" the projection/potency has also improved! A back up bottle of this now discontinued hidden gem is in my near future me thinks 🤔. Man, what a GORGEOUS, Timeless fragrance! ------------------------------‐------------------------Initial thoughts Wow! I mean Good Lord this smells AMAZING and very Unique! I own over 200 fragrances and so far Salvatore Ferragamo has been one of my favorite "Designers" of 2025! Straight outta my brand new bottle Im getting about 5 hours (on skin) with ok projection for about an hour, but then sits quite close to the skin thereafter. On clothes it lasts for quitr a long time where I can still pick it up the following day although Faintly. It starts off with that fresh "Bitter gritty-green" which is very distinctive to almost all"Fig-Leaf" fragrances and which I really love, but then this transitions into a slightly spicy mid which truley smells as though it has Star Anise as a note, yet it DOES NOT. Im hoping that after Ive introduced some air into the bottle the performance improves over-time, but Ive gotta say that Im actually pleasantly surprised and feel the performance is better than a lot of folks are claiming it is here on Fragrantica. Anyhow, this stuff smells super nice, unique and just a touch "Mature" yet still quite modern. This is one of those very rare fragrances that smelsl so great (IMO) and.more importantly UNIQUE that the low/moderate performance is not big deal! Plus its been discontinued?! Ive been so on the fence about Blind-Buying tbis scent bc of everyone saying how poorly it performs, but man! Im SO GLAD that I ended up pulling the trigger bc again, performance aint THAT bad. A solid 8.5 outta 10 fragrance which is a fantastic and rare score in my book! A must have for any collector especially bc of how nice and unique it smells! I wish I could amplify this exact same dna making stronger and better projecting bc its honestly absolutely GORGEOUS! The slight spiciness along with the "gritty/green" from the Fig Leaf is just Slllllapping imo. I am beyonf impressed with this TRUE hidden gem! I may just need to grab a back up bottle, but damn I have to many already! Lol

Having now accumulating a pretty good collection of Fragrances. I would say now my taste in what I find attractive in scents is definitely more mature compared to what i wore in my 20's. I find Salvatore Ferragamo should cater to people in their 30s-40's+. When it comes to scent. They are known for their leather shoes/belts. But more and more I find that as a Designer House they make scents that I keep going back to. I have 2 bottles of Salvatore Ferragamo Oud which is discontinued and is in my opinion something that just now Givenchy is trying to crack with Ambree and 2022's release of Rerserve. If you can find a bottle of Oud somewhere under $80 buy it lol. Anyway, Pour Homme is from the same product line. Review: The opening like many here have said is a little Medicinal, so you get a blast of fig, and floral in opening. But right after you get more of a fig leaf because of the woodyness mixing in for the dry down. To me thats what makes this a good more mature office scent that you could pull off mostly in moderate weather. You can pull this off in summer, just not in height of summer. I think this works best in 50-60's degree weather. With maybe 70. But thats pushing it, the woody notes will be over powering depending on your sprays. Note: Let is mature a bit after you get it for like a week or so. Spraying this on your skin not directly as someone else said is definitely key for not having the opening Medical scent linger. Nice light spray strokes across the arms, chest maybe neck. But man, that fig note is amazing and something that you dont see in scents today from Europe designers, mostly see it from more middle east. I'm not going to bore you with everything I smell, there are video reviewers who will break down the scent for you. But you need to like Fig/Fig leaves. Its not the main note, but its the one I gravitate to and the one that sticks out and in my eyes makes this unique. Its not a safe blind buy if you are not a fig person, or not into woody/Floral scents. If you like Mild woody scents with a light hint of sweetness, this is your jam. Safe for office but is more for someone older late 30s to 40s. Night scent works when you go a little heavier on the sprays. Longevity is around 6+ hours, projects off skin ok after couple hours, and stays on cloths decently. Its not heavy to the fact your scrubbing it off. In my eyes it really is a well balanced scent. And at the price you can get it $24 or less its a steal.

Here you smell leather in the streets from all the shops and street vendors selling Florentine leather goods. Everywhere you walk in this magnificent city you are bombarded by this scent. It is wonderful. Towering above all the famed leather workers in this city none is more renowned than Ferragamo the great Italian shoemakers. To visit Florence and not visit Ferragamo is a sin. Here you see the shoe elevated to an art form. Casual elegance with a sophisticated flair as embodied within the spirit of the Florentines, that is what Salvatore Ferragamo has come up with in this sumptuous fragrance. The wonderful notes in this perfume are like postcards from Florence. The florals mixed with the woods and mosses carry me back to a spring day in the gardens of the Pitti Palace. As it moves into the dry down the leather emerges which is a brilliant touch coming from this master Italian shoemaker. With its arrival you are immersed in the workshops of Ferragamo warm and comfortable. In the dry down, rich deep base notes rise up in a masculine yet subtle blend of oak moss, musk, cedar and vetiver. With the arrival of these notes one is transported to the top of the hillside at the foot of Basilica di San Miniato a Monte. Here in full view of the Tuscan countryside out of which Florence emerges in its entire Renaissance splendor you can embrace all that this wonderful fragrance embodies. It last about six to seven hours in my experience and expounds a delicate but noticeable silage. This is a brilliant rich and reserved fragrance that will stay in your memory long after it has faded with one last romantic whisper. Five gold stars!*****

I just purchased this at marshalls for 12 dollars and its the 1.7oz, Great deal. It was actually a nicer size than i thought it would be when I took it out of box. Very pleased with this as in the beginning I didnt really care for this when i smelled it years ago. but I became a fan of his shoes & F by Ferragamo 2 years ago so ran into this and grabbed the only box I saw when I stumbled across it with the crazy low price. The scent was very nice and different then what I recalled years back. Upon spraying It took me back to one of my favorite fragrances: Marc Jacobs minus the island, tanning lotion, coconut & rubber scent and a bit more leaves and leather mixed in. (The Subtil version of this is not that bad either and it has negative reviews. I smelled it at Nords after buying this one and its nice, just more day wear, sweeter and citrus like...completely different than this, should have been introduced as a stand alone new fragrance instead of another edition.) The only strange thing about this one is that after the dry down it smells a bit like crumbled leaves or like you wear in the sun and thats what I smell on my arm after but everyone throughout the day compliments me on how good i smell and i feel a bit paranoid that I dont stink or they dont smell the smell i smell on drydown. Its not a bad smell it just doesnt stay the same upon spraying nor does it develop into something better like Marc Jacobs or F by ferragamo does. Other than that, I get compliments on this by women and I love smelling the beginning in this. The compliments just reassure me I did a good buy especially it being $12 dollars.

I must thank you all as your reviews made me buy blind this masterpiece. What a beauty. I am actually very surprised why this perfume has not become a classic as per kenzo pour homme, L'eau D'issey and so. In fact, it has a little bit of shades of all these perfumes that I adore immensely. For instance the fig note is pretty much the same to my nose as the one in "Dune homme" but at the same time it resembles with the "Womanity" fig accord as is accompained with heavy doses of grapefruit, giving me an instant vivid, mouthwatering, juicy opening which I love. There are some "maritime green notes" ( as Kenzo pour homme) but without salt air or seaweed, if you know what I mean, not aquatic, but, it definitively has a mediterranean soul. Perhaps, it brings me an intense deja vu from my childhood, while I was lazing around during those hot summer afternoons on holidays, near the seaside, me under a fig tree, sniffing the air, where natural fragrances of flowers, leaves and the summer breeze came togheter as an olfactory landscape. In a nutshell: this lovely fragrance is centered on fig + soft spices (clove I think) + carnation+ cyclamen + earthy vetiver. I deffo can detect a little bit of cyclamen in here, a little pinch of leather and carnation in there, but overall, the perfume remains linear where the main notes are the fig and the vetiver. I love it, it has a amazing longevity, sillage and projection. If you like fig or green notes and you crave for vetiver, do yourself a favour a buy this masterpiece NOW!

This is a modern masculine frag. It is a very sophisticated type of smell. Although It smells a little medicinal when you first get it. It def gets better with age. Also, someone mentioned in the comments to not spray too close to the skin. This is a necessary tip. The frag airs out and lightens when you spray it with a greater radius. If you spray too close to the skin you will def find it more medicinal and bitter smelling. Prob bc of all the notes, um dunno. Just trust me. Also, I tried wearing this as my spring, rainy day type of frag but it just smells bitter and too green. This frag def works better in the sun. It sweetens up and is very pleasant. Spring, Summer (Not too hot), and Fall summer days are best for this frag. Def an office frag/daytime frag. Although a quick walk in the sun will help lol. Even if its just from the far end of the parking lot to the main door lol. It is sweet from the fig but it isnt like new gen sweet. Its still green and woody. Dont wear this as a date night frag. It can get mixed reviews. This is more for your personal enjoyment if you wear it right. Although, Mediterranean women will prob like this scent best on a man esp if you dress up a bit. A button up shirt with your hairy chest showing a bit lol. Due to fact that its more of a grown man scent. I will always have this frag in my collection bc of its unique composition. At $20-30, you cant beat the quality that you get from it.

*A 9/10 masterfully crafted niche quality fragrance for the WIN!!! -This was originally a mixed bag for me, so I gave it a few months and have worn it multiple times. NOW ... IT'S AN EXCEPTIONALLY BEAUTIFUL FRAGRANCE! The opening, for me at least, was for about 12-15 minutes ... a very green/vegetal opening for sure ... then it becomes a BEAUTIFUL WOODY FLORAL with a hint of spice ... a solid 9/10 fragrance, without a doubt. This definitely has lots of floral notes with geranium, rose and jasmine being very prominent. I have a feeling if the fig wasn't present in the opening, then you'd pick up on even more of the floral notes almost immediately, but instead the green opening makes it so unique. It also can take some adjustment and for some they may pick up on traces of pickle juice in the opening ... as I originally did. Once you get into the drydown it definitely is strong on sandalwood, cedar and oakmoss with a hint of noticeable vetiver ... but also has a beautiful spicy undertone. I really don't pick up on any leather and maybe just a hint of musk. This is a very unique fragrance and anyone who appreciates a masculine woody floral should love this ... assuming the fig note grows on you. The longevity is above average at 6 hrs with average projection. The twisted bottle design is as unique as the opening. I'm glad that I added this fragrance to my collection.

Interesting. First time wearing it yesterday so this is based on my first impression. Applied 2 sprays to my shirt 1 on left side and 1 on right side of upper pec-delt area. Definitely not blown away, not that I expected to be overly joyed. But it's nice to be surprised. At the top I get a pleasant fig right off the bat with some woody notes and musk, and what seems like clove in the background. After a few hours I noticed it doesn't evolve much, the top and basenotes is pretty much the same. Thus, I'm thinking it's going to get boring quickly. But I was wrong! Throughout the day I kept getting beautiful, almost addictive whiffs of a woody fig. I found myself craving for those whiffs as I moved around doing my work for the day. I didn't get any compliments, but that's probably because on clothing fragrances do not project much, which is why I prefer to spray my shirt. I like my fragrances to be discovered, not announced, as the saying goes. However, I will test this on skin on my next wearing and update this review if I remember. Southern Elegance (Jean-Pierre Mary, 1999) Bottle Design: Thierry de Baschmakoff Scentrack: Ornella Vanoni – L’Appuntamento As I was born and raised on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea the beautiful smell of fig leaf is my natural habitat (another one is tomato leaf). The smell of fig leaf reminds me of my garden in the small seaside resort. If I must choose just one note considered as personal, fig leaf is the note. That is the reason I love Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme. This fragrance is a well done masculine fig leaf. The essence of ancient Mediterranean culture, and Italian passion for life are preserved in this great looking Ferragamo bottle. Ferragamo pour Homme opens with a realistic, milky fig leaf note, accompanied by a fresh neroli. This Mediterranean fresh opening is garnered with a hefty dose of cardamom, similar to the one observed in Costume National Homme. The heart of this fragrance is flowery. Subtle jasmine, soft rose, and pale old school carnation. The base is made of vetiver, clean soapy musk, and cedar. This woody character of the base gives the whole composition a pronounced masculine twist. Rating: 7.5/10

Just blind bought this based on reviews here and based on my first ever smell it is certainly quite different from my usual fresh woodies. My first impression is that this is a very original and luxurious smelling cologne, its originality certainly took me by surprise on the first whiff. As I put it on I noticed rose and musk, to my nose I thought it was quite soapy, but with a strong summery smell almost like light coconut (I guess this is the milky accord). Beneath the rose and musk, I could smell the more masculine notes of leather and the woods and this excited me about what was to come. As it dried down it became more and more masculine, Italian and a complete masterpiece. The fig became stronger and the rosy musk became less apparent. I kept smelling this cologne on myself and loving how I smelt. I smelt clean and felt beautiful. I believe this is a great spring and autumn cologne that can be worn on cooler summer days and summer nights, I know plenty of women who could wear this too. As said by others, a definite purchase for cologne lovers and connoisseurs. Unpretentious, well-shaped bottle too. I adore it.

If Hawas Tropical is the fun one at the beach party, Ferragamo pour Homme is the one who arrived in a linen suit and left early. They share DNA: both are green, fresh, and built around a fig heart. But where Hawas Tropical piles on sweetened coconut and a menthol grin, Ferragamo strips all of that away. No coconut. No sweetness. Just creamy fig and cedar, presented cleanly and without ornament. That restraint is the whole personality of the fragrance. The fig here is milky and smooth rather than dessert-like, and the cedar gives it a dry, structured backbone that keeps everything composed. Nothing sparkles or winks at you. It simply sits close, elegant and unbothered. The honest trade-off is that it's not as fun. This is austere where Hawas Tropical is exuberant, refined where that one is playful. Which you reach for depends entirely on the day. When you want sophistication in a bottle, something that reads polished rather than sunny, Ferragamo pour Homme is the pick. It's the grown-up version of the green fig freshie, and it knows it.

Fig leaf dominates the floral notes, a bit smoky, slightly woody. Fresh and green upon application, then floral and properly sweet notes will step forward. Better on clothes than on my skin, though I love its smoky undertone humming on my skin. Poor sillage and longevity. But if one oversprays, especially when the juice is not well atomized into air, it can become more synthetic and harsh. I like it introvert. Both formal and casual. Maybe a little dated since it doesn't fit into the syrupy mainstream nowadays, but it's still elegant. Men around 30 or older can wear this, in spring or fall. The price is OK considering its poor performance 😓. I have a bottle from 2003 and another from 2021. The former is as light as body sprays, and its figgy green vibe is significantly oxidized both by age and by the oxygen in the bottle (when there's less than 1/5 juice left) The fig leaf may remind people of Ferrari Noble Fig or Dyptique Philosykos, but in fact each of the three is very different from each other, and is good in its own right.

I have finished a 100ml bottle of this unique, spicey, fresh, sophisticated, versatile classic frag years ago & it's one of my beloved favorite scents of all time. Also i currently have a half full 125ml bottle of my Marc Jacobs Men, a sexy, tropical summery scent i also love & also all time fave that i spray from time to time during the warm months. I can strongly express in whole honesty & adamantly claim that these two frags smell totally different & bare no resemblance whatsoever from one another. Those 16 people who voted that SFPH "remind them of" MJM must be high on drugs or should consider having their noses medically examined, just saying. I only know too well that these two classic fragrances with which have been very much a part of my life don't even remotely share any similarities whatsoever with regards to how they smell...regardless if they both contain the same 6 ingredients - Fig leaf, cardamom, rose, cyclamen, oakmoss& cedar. I'm a frag collector as well so i obviously know what i'm talking about.

First I loved this fragrance. There was nothing like it I have ever smelled before. It was new. It was different. It was definitely a novelty. Figs on powdered velvet was my personal synesthetic experience. I could have sworn this was something done by Jacques Polge with a surplus of ionones than he knew what to do with. But then just like that, I quickly got tired of it. The novelty wore off almost immediately. Time passed, and now I love it again. On hindsight, I can now pinpoint that it was the powdery effect that made it so tiresome...if only Jean-Pierre Mary (thank you, Fragrantica, for revealing to us the nose) had used real orris instead, then I wouldn't have found it to be so overwhelming. (But orris butter is expensive...*sigh*...you can't win, can you?) It is also stark lesson on the depth of naturals versus synthetics. Overall, a mighty good fragrance despite being made almost entirely out of of synthetics. Carlos Benaim would have been proud.

I must say, my bottle has matured spectacularly well over the past 5+ years. When I first got it I enjoyed it but had a distinct impression it was a bit watered down and I could spray the entire bottle on without sending people running. In the mean time it would seem to have concentrated but the bottle doesn't appear to have seen the juice contract that much. It's become stronger obviously, but also a bit sweeter and I can definitely detect many more notes than when I first got it. Ferrari Noble Fig and this used to be essentially interchangeable to me - as in they both were more on the dry, airy side of fig leaf scents. This one is now no longer that close to Noble Fig and definitely stands apart. I really liked this as a cheapie before, but I am floored by this transformation and would dare say the scent as it now sits in this bottle would pass for a far more elegant and natural scent than at its start.

Mediterranean, late-summer breeze in a bottle. Fig here is more parched and seasoned, and there's a dimly metallic tinge from the grapefruit when the juice first hits the skin. Woodsy and grassy notes (presumably the cedar, rosewood, and vetiver) come in shortly afterwards, exhibiting a powdery dryness similar to the fig leaf. Carnation and whispery rose notes surface more in the drydown, buffing out the earlier metallic quality and giving the scent more of an aromatic, feminine-leaning "clean-boi" vibe during its final run on the skin. Unfortunately, performance is a major weak spot (I'm sure reformulations have exacerbated this), you probaly will need at least 7 sprays to keep the volume up for most of the afternoon. Overall, however, this is still big win for what you're paying.

This is a very-nice fragrance! Unique, and unusual. It reminds me of its contemporary, Eau du Fier (2000)- but much more accessible. Fig leaf, rose, grapefruit peel, and cedar are the strongest notes to my nose- with a healthy (but not too prominent) dose of birch tar, an underlying grassiness of vetiver. Sweet, green, cooling- and a trifle mysterious and woody- it brings to my mind fragrant earth, fingers exploring the foliage and wild-growing flowers of the countryside, and coming away magnificently scented. The top and heart became trace by about the 6th hour on me, leaving a light- but long-lasting (14+ hours on a hot summer day) musky-leathery-vetiver base/skin-scent to enjoy. Excellent daytime frag in all regards- strong recommendation to fig and vetiver-lovers!

My third bottle of nirvana...last purchased 2001...saw this gem, sans cap (tester) for $22...what the hey! Let's do this again...loved it at the time, but couldn't remember why..reviews didn't even begin to remind me of what it was that 'floated my boat'...Package arrived and couldn't wait to sport it for the day (So. Florida...high humidity...around 84*)..worked perfectly...Fig...fig...fig...and vetiver...my favorite dirty, earthy, rustic notes...didn't fail to deliver...oh no! I am the owner of 3 fig trees that when watered are Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme in a ceramic pot! They couldn't have gotten the note more perfectly duplicated...right on the money! Looking forward to Monday...you my figgy friend will be sported with pride once more....

Lo compré hace algunas semanas y me ha encantado. Totalmente fuera de lo común a las bombas de ambroxán y vainilla dulces que en la actualidad todos quieren usar. Un perfume con un toque afrutado, una carga de maderas que se siente y un sutil cuero al fondo. Elegante, discreto y se siente como un fino aroma a pesar de su precio. Esto no es para llamar la atención y gritar que vas llegando o hacerte sentir como dicen, no necesita eso ni rozar la vulgaridad con protecciones intensas y aromas dulces en pleno calor extremo. Esto es elegante y discreto y vale la pena probarlo. Para mayores de 30 en mi opinión.
