Nubian Musk

Oooooh, Nubian musk, you are like a deep, kitten-furred lovely hug from the angel of comfort! To the reviewer who described it as "like burying your face in a warm kitten" - 100%!! I loved this the very first time I sampled it; I'd never actually worn many musky scents and especially never one where musk was the main attraction, so I didn't expect it to be the one out of the whole Sana Jardin sample set I'd fall the hardest for. There's a sweetness to it, and the musk has a beautiful depth that smells very natural - slightly skanky as is necessary, I believe, for a genuine musk experience. The musk here is synthetic, thankfully, showcasing how impressive and authentic synthetic musk can be, especially in the hands of someone like Benaim. I'd bought just a small roller ball of this and have been regularly wearing it to bed - its the perfect bedtime fragrance. The problem is, my partner hates it! Go figure ;-) I still adore it and will continue to torture him until the bottle is empty, and then possibly consider getting a large bottle in order to torture him (er continue training his nose) further ;-)

This is gorgeous on the opening! It is musky yet green and brightened by the lively grapefruit blossom. It did smell a little animalic on the opening. Further down the timeline and the nagermotha and blossom are beginning to be as strong as the musk. The Vetiver now starts to peak through. It is now very unisex. The earthiness of the patch slowly becomes more evident. The citrus blossom stop it getting too heavy. The nagermotha certainly adds a unique twist to the whole. It is unusual. I like it. It smells modern and quirky. A musk focused scent with a green, slightly earthy twist. I'm a bit disappointed that it doesn't have a better sillage. It doesn't travel beyond arm length. It does hang around a few hours in this cold environment.

I really love the smells of this one. There is definitely a similar DNA between this, Tiger by Her Side, and Celestial Patchouli. I think if you like one, you'd like the others. The most prominent notes to me are the patchouli and Cypriol oil. I also get earthy and woody notes in this as it dries down. Also, coffee is not listed as a note, but I do get a bit of a coffee vibe. This actually reminds me of a combo of Coromandel, Celestial Patchouli, Noir de Noir, and Wood Jasmin. The only downside of this one is that it has poor performance on me. Three hours in I can barely smell this one. But I love the way it smells so much I just may have to get it and refresh throughout the day. Completely unisex in my opinion.

I own this and recently discovered & purchased Kashnoir by Olfativo without realising the striking similarities (and of course Tom Ford) - huge fan of CB but was surprised when I did a side by side.

Nubian Musk has an animalic blast during the opening giving a very natural quality musk. Harvesting from musk deer has long since been banned so it is impressive that they have synthesised this so well. The animalic stretch might not be everyone's cup of tea and in some way gives a slightly vintage feel but it subsides relatively quickly and the dry down is fantastic. I dare say both men and women could carry this off comfortably sitting quite firmly between masculine and feminine appeal which is also very well executed. One of those scents that you might choose for intimate Autumn/Winter moments. Superb.

A warm, powdery, almost jammy musk fragrance, if such a thing can exist. This smells like a jammy musk if literally all the fruit was extracted from the fuzz of jam, and all you were left with is a cloud of rich tartness. It's nice. I really like it. Equal parts clean and dirty. Certainly a textured fragrance. Slightly sharp, slightly retro and reminiscent of baby powder.

Spicy, warm patchouli with a dusty feel. Has a similar vibe to Sandalwood Temple but more potent. The animalic note becomes more present as the hours go by, but is never overwhelming.

The opening is a little disjointed. Smells like a freshly poured beer. But the dry down is beautiful and cozy . Very similar to Celestial Patchouli.

Musk happens to be one of my favourite scents. Vetiver is strong on my skin. Great for cooler seasons. It's rich.

This smells like pure vanilla extract to me, for better or worse.

So ive recently acquired a little 50ml of this in the fancy original box quite inexpensive,the chunky one not the slim one so dont know if theres a difference. Anyway at first spray on paper ,I sprayed quite heavily,I was like eeeuch nope and put it in the drawer. I just recently also bought another SJ offering and wanted to compare the 2 .this now has taken on a whole new opening of a boozy ,earthy ,floral musk that is a little teeny tiny bit dirty smelling but not like shitty smelling dirty ,its a balanced dirty if that makes sense and theres a little sweetness from the vanilla too . I sprayed it now on my skin and ,the atomiser is fabulous btw ,on my lower arm up and then back down and let me tell you ,that is plenty . I'm doing a wear test today so will check back on longevity on me . But its definitely not a shy musk its a smooth balanced little offering that I now actully like ,alot ! Be perfect for nighttime or winter as well .

Based on trying a sample on my skin; I feel that this is what I expected Narciso Rodriguez Patchouli Musc to smell like! Although sandalwood is voted as the most noticed note, I find that patchouli is more prominent. Musk is there, but very soft, sweet, not animalic at all. With time, the patchouly starts fading and the musk start appearing. The dry-down is cozy and close to the skin. I feel a hint of cinnamon, the bitter part of it, whatever that means. A hint of flowers, maybe rose! It feels as if you mixed Tiger By Her Side (minus the sweetness) and Celestial Patchouli (minus the green-ness) in one fragrance, add to that sweet musk - almost the same kind of musk I get from Musc Ravageur, but please don't confuse them they are different! I'm absolutely happy with my discovery kit and I like them all. This one however, is my favourite.

This is definitely different to anything I've tried before that said, I haven't been exploring musky scents as of yet. This somehow manages to be animalic, musty, musky, boozy, patchy, powdery, oriental and light and fluffy at the same time. Really enjoyable because all the elements that tend to overwhelm me are in here so lightly that I can really enjoy them. There's a soft cloud of it around you that never overwhelms the senses. Impressed with this house so far. If I had to describe it through other scents, I would say it's L'ombre Fauve + Pavillon Rouge whipped up with a lot of musk into a fluffy musky delicate airy scent. I detect no rose.

This was not what i was expecting from Sana Jardin at all, and it really took my experience of their house to another level! Honeyed orange blossom anyone? With a furry, animalic, really rather dirty musk. And when I say animalic, I mean, like burying your face in a warm kitten. Then comes a dusty incense vibe along with spice soaked raisins. No florals detected whatsoever. Totally unisex, I would love to smell this on a man! But also my favourite from the discovery set to wear myself. It's warm, fuzzy, cosy and just a little bit sexy, and I simply adore it.

I have an attar that says "Nubi," and based on the notes, it must be this one. Bought it 10 years ago. Vetiver and patchouli heavy. I luckily can't detect any sandalwood (otherwise it would smell BO to my nose). Very herbal and earthy sweetened from vanilla and a tiny bit rose, and floral due to the grapefruit blossom which comes forward together with cypriol that gives it a herbal, almost "apothecary" smell. I like it. More feminine.

I can only third the “burying your face in a warm kitten” comment! Upon the first spray, the animalic element is quite intense (more urine than kitten!) but within a minute or two it becomes this delicious fluffy musky vanilla. Mild spice undercurrent. As I test it more at different times, I find that I interpret the musk differently, sometimes it comes across too idolic/dirty. It’s hard for me to make up my mind on it.

I like a good, dirty musk, and I like most of the Sana Jardin discovery set, but to me, this one smells like if you mixed Tinkerbell perfume with olive juice. It has a quality I can only describe as tannic. Hard to quantify, I'm sorry, but I think it's grapefruit- dry, nasty and bitter, bringing out indoles in the jasmine? Idk, it seems well composed but not for me.

Dirty musky spicy sexy - reminds me of carnicure. Not toooo dirty, but definitely a furry animal with a spicy musk cloud. Loving this. Why can't i see a civet or similar note? Clean, crisp and animalic.. if that makes any sense at all. Smells very animalic (true musk?) initially but with a bright fresh undertone if what I assume to be the grapefruit blossom. Sandalwood develops with time, as does the spunk of vetiver. Rose water (not heavy typical turkish rose) sews it all together very subtly. Excellent scent.
