Sandalwood Temple

On first spray, it's a dry (probably vetiver?) woodiness but it's balanced by the exact right amount of citrus and white floral to add brightness. It smells like the "light academia" pinterest boards. Smells like what you'd imagine a grand fantasy library to smell like, but the added brightness from the citrus/floral keeps it from being dusty or smoky. I imagine this is what Mr. Darcy's (2004) library smells like. On initial spray I don't get any vanilla but I do get some creaminess. It's not the hand creme kind of creaminess that can get cloying sometimes; it's light and just enough to balance out the notes. Sandalwood temple is a clean, beautiful, elegant, grown-person-who-has-their-shit-together (without leaning too mature) scent. This is what I wanted MM Whispers in the Library or Sorce English Major to smell like. On drydown, it's a very soft, cozy, creamy sandalwood. It's so wonderfully cozy and comforting. It makes me want to drink a london fog under a soft blanket with my cat on my lap. Phenomenal. Chef's kiss. I see the comparisons to Somebody Wood (I have the travel size and the body wash). They are very similar but SW has more citrus and jasmine and spice imo. Sandalwood temple also smells more expensive (the scent is more complex and well balanced imo giving it a luxe vibe. There's no screechiness anywhere and it's so well made) and if I had to choose between the two, I would choose and recommend Sandalwood Temple, but if you already own Somebody Wood, they're similar enough where you'd likely want to skip. Sandalwood can be very pickle-y to me (Santal 33 and 7 virtues Santal Vanille are disgustingly pickle-y) and I get ZERO pickles with this. It's a beautiful sandalwood fragrance (the sandalwood shines), but it's well balanced and complemented by other notes so it's not flat or linear. Lactonic perfumes can be cloying to me (it's the hand creme quality that can be sickening) and same with powdery perfumes (iris powder bombs can also be so gross) and there is neither issue in this perfume! The creaminess and touch of powder are definitely present but they are very subtle and they're really just there to balance and elevate the other notes rather than stand on their own. Sandalwoods can also be smoky a lot of times (L'orchestre Parfums Piano Santal is smoky even though there is no smoke or incense notes listed) and I'm happy to report there is no smoke. This is a truly unisex fragrance. Most unisex fragrances tend to lean more masculine but I can really see anyone wearing this.

If you find linear scents boring this won’t be for you. It’s so smoothly blended that it almost smells like one accord. I love it! It’s a creamy, delicious sandalwood. I think the other woods are there but blended so they mix with the sandalwood rather than competing for attention. It’s very likeable. It radiates within arms length, I get compliments when people hug me but it won’t fill a room (which to me is a good thing). It lasts a really long time which is unusual on me, I get wafts of it twelve hours into wear and if you wear the same jumper the next day it will be present. I like the ethics of the company and I think you can tell they use some good quality natural ingredients. This was an easy decision to buy a FB and a scent you could probably wear anywhere but shines in cooler weather.

I have been on an eternal search for the perfect sandalwood fragrance. I’ve only just come round to liking woody fragrances, so I’ve found myself being even more picky than usual when I try them. I also don’t really like vanilla frags (I find them very boring), and with the prevalence of woody+vanilla pairings it’s been a long search for a good sandalwood for me! This bottle really surprises me with how much I love it. It’s vanilla-y, that’s for sure, but on me the guaic and sandalwood really grounds the vanilla in a way where it keeps my interest. The wood holds out for the duration of the scent, but it’s rounded out and made creamy by the vanilla and neroli. It’s really beautiful and I really want a full bottle for the colder months, for when I want a comforting but still refined scent.

A great everyday scent for the office, smells of clean sandalwood and soft vanilla. But I must admit what I enjoy most is that Sana Jardin is one of the very few perfume brands that are not harmful to your health, as they only use natural ingredients. What a pleasant surprise One of the greatest sandalwood fragrances that I tried in the last couple of years The smoothness is amazing I must confess it is airy maybe borderline weak But the silky texture was impressive I swear to god throughout my wearing I kept wondering was it Mr.benaim again I say this because it’s not his first impeccable fragrance from this house and I was spot on it was the legend himself This scent deserves to be over sprayed and reapplies again and again throughout the day Savoring every moment of it’s greatness Just give it a try no picker smell like Santal 33 it’s pure bliss

Sheer and tranquil white florals with a watery undertone and bright bergamot in the opening. Transitions into dry cedarwood that leads way to a richly lush sandalwood that’s equally as dry. The guaiacwood adds a nice touch of character with some slight smoky undertones and warmth to the scent. The vanilla here is noticeable but very subtle, adding a creaminess here rather than a distinct sweetness. Overall a sandalwood focused scent done in a dry and warm way, with a touch of creamy sweetness, and added woody depth. Definitely for the ppl who want sandalwood done in a straight to the point way.

I agree with the review below now I have read it as it did remind me a little bit of Commodity Paper + haha. This is a banger for me. Sandalwood is one of my favourite notes and this didn't disappoint, it opens as a fresh an green sandalwood, which may be a bit surprising if you're expecting a near gourmand vanilla, however it really gives me the 'temple' vibes as advertised. The sandalwood lasts the whole time and the dry down gets more sweet and vanillic. 5-8 hours of longevity, sillage not amazing after 2-3 hours but its there as a skin scent. Will be buying a FB of this one

I really like this fragrance a lot. It’s mainly a subtle citrus and vanilla with smooth woods. The vanilla is lightly sweet. It feels like a distant cousin of Architects Club from Arquiste, but without the aromatic notes. When I first spray it, I get a soft suede note that’s probably from the guaiac wood. I can’t tell if I pick up in the vetiver. This is a pretty and easy to wear scent that I can’t see offending anyone. It sits pretty close to the skin, but still creates a nice personal scent bubble. Someone would have to get pretty close to smell it.

Creamy dreamy sandalwood with no dill pickly note anywhere to be found, even if you tried your hardest there is absolutely none of that note in here. This scents makes me feel calm, cozy, grounded and divine when I wear it. A scent that works well for any occasion. I have astma and am very sensitive to perfume, this doesn't trigger my astma at all. My favorite sandalwood perfume, and also my favorite perfume of all time. But feel I have to add, the new bottles are so ugly, I wish they would change them. But I'll keep on purchasing it anyway.

The opening is a big wham of sandalwood very closely followed by the cedar and vanilla. Gradually bergamot, neroli and Vetiver cut through the wood and vanilla. It is more interesting now. I've got to be honest. It's missing something to add more dimension to the fragrance. It doesn't develop any further. It remains very nice sandalwood, cedar scent with a chunk of vanilla and bergamot. Not a big sillage but it hangs around for a good few hours. One to wear to your next yoga class or when meditating.

This my favorite sandalwood perfume by far. The vanilla adds a subtle sweetness, but it's mostly got a distinct woodsy spice to it that lasts throughout the day. It lasts well and has decent projection, though I favor things that sit close to the skin. It's also the only sandalwood scent that doesn't register even a little bit pickle-y to me. It's sophisticated and makes me feel like a put together woman who definitely met the IRS tax deadline.

Can't stop sniffing this! Absolute beauty: soft, subtle, creamy woody scent that feels so cocooning. It's incredibly well-balanced and none of the notes tries to highjack the experience. I can feel the sweet vanilla, the dry woods, the hint of citruses - all at the same time! The vetiver shows up only as a lingering trail after about 4 hours. Unfortunately, even with more spritzes than I normally wear, sillage is not very good.

This fragrance is DELISH. I much prefer it to Le Labo Santal, which smells to me more masculine and sharp. Sandalwood Temple is warm, sweet, pleasant, comforting, and also just a bit mysterious. Another thing I love about this perfume, and Sana Jardin scents in general, is that not only does it smell really special, it's also delightfully inoffensive enough to wear all day at work. Good sticking power, too. A+

I have such a strong connection with this scent after testing it at Blue Mercury. It’s an absolutely captivating smooth, dry sandalwood with a hint of citrus and sweetness to round it out. The woody notes are so photorealistic and warm - It reminds me of a cabin in the mountains, very serene and peaceful. If you are a sandalwood/woody fragrance lover, get your nose on this. I bought a full bottle immediately.

This is by far my favorite sandalwood fragrance—nothing else even compares! It's incredibly calming and soothing, almost addictive. Normally, I'm not a fan of orange blossom or neroli, but they're blended so perfectly into this creamy, cozy, almost lactonic, sandalwood that they don't bother me at all. It’s very smooth and definitely linear, but I don’t mind one bit. Great on its own or for layering.

I was in search of a Serge Lutens repeat purchase, yet my curiosity got the better of me and I was introduced to Sandalwood Temple. the scent immediately drew me in and as much as I wanted to say no, it would not let me. Vanilla and Sandalwood is very prominent. This is a sophisticated, confident and gorgeous perfume and will be my latest companion. Let's see how we get on after a week.

I wasn't sure initially about the initial slightly astringent blast of orange blossom - however having come back to the scent a few times now, I'm adoring the creamy sandalwood drydown of this fragrance- delicate and dreamy, yet really moorish. Yes, it does reflect the sense of temple - contemplative in nature and beautiful. It also got me contemplating a possible 100 ml bottle! : )

Smooth and milky sandalwood, I agree. But there’s also a beautiful salty butter quality to this. Oh gosh, it’s so good! I couldn’t get ahold of sample at first, but there was someone near me selling their bottle so... I successfully blind bought it! I’m so happy it worked out. Very cocooning and smooth. Slightly sweet with a sophisticated amount of savoryness. Perfect!

This is so lovely but it just melts into my skin. No projection and no sillage which is such a pity. I would love to walking around, feeling gorgeous & serene in a cloud of this and I think other people would thank me for it. As it is only I can enjoy it with my nose stuck on my wrist. If SJ make an intense version and ramp it up I woud be there begging for a bottle.

A very pleasing fragrance , creamy and calming. Very soft Sandal wood but at the same time asserttive, and I would certainly put sandalwood ahead of cedar or any other note. Very similar to SCarmin by Atelie Cologne. The difference between them IMO is that this one is clean and is easy to lay over with florals, whereas SC is more oily and dominates on its own.

So light but so pretty. This is the creamy doll- head mascarpone skin scent I didn’t know I needed. It’s perfect for spring and autumn, with the well blended sandalwood and vanilla bringing a smooth sensual warmth which feels sophisticated and enticing.

I immediately bought a bottle. I love sandalwood and this is very creamy and true. Perfect for most seasons. Light enough for summer for me, personally. I'd say Ten Fifteen is a smokier version of this. But they are incredibly similar.

Amazing sandalwood! Creamy but also with a lovely woody profile (slightly ‘wet’ wood). I think it smells quite similar to a real sandalwood oil, which is lovely! It also has just a touch of sweetness that bonds this scent together.

I find it unique but sandalwood enough to last a bit longer than some such as Santal Blanc which is also a refined & beautiful sandalwood fragrance. Perhaps the cedar helps, love this one a lot makes me feel calm and peaceful.

Absolutely beautiful creamy sandalwood with no sharp edges. I don’t get much of the citrus. I think it’s in the background just adding a lightness to the fragrance. This one is going on my full bottle wish list.

Ooooo this is pure bliss! Woody but perfectly balanced for the feminine taste! Vetiver is there, proeminent but the vanilla touch and neroli brings this fragrance to a very warm,welcoming smell, just great!

Adore this scent. It’s such a warm, creamy, and pure sandalwood smell! Unfortunately only lasts 3-4 hours, but I keep wanting to reapply it just for the scent in the best way possible.

I love this perfume. Creamy, smooth and perfect for layering. It doesn’t seem to go far or last long on me but it’s so reasonably priced I don’t mind using more.

Creamy sandelwood opening, drydown slightly sweet woods. Get no bergamot. Comforting scent with a little sillage. Stays longer on clothes than on skin. Lovely.

Clean, cool, minimal, pleasant, perceptibly natural sandalwood at a very, very high price for what it is. If absolute minimalist discipline and organic ingredients are your thing, it might be perfect - but there's really no lushness, spicing, or a great deal of warmth in there. It's classy discretion all over - the projection is no more than gentle at best and longevity on the weak side. I'd find it hard to justify full retail price (nearly £2/$3 per ml) for this. Would be all over it at a decent discount, though - and from what I read, the brand does great ethical work with female harvesters, so that's a pretty big point in its favour too. If you really want sandalwood but find many available treatments too big or too cloying this might get you closer to your own private sandalwood enlightenment.

Very smooth clean natural meditative sandalwood. No rough edges, just very pleasing. Far nicer than Tam Dao or some such. On my skin, can't detect neroli, but perhaps adds a bit of clarity and brightness in the background. Bergamot also hardly detectable. Vetiver and cedar are easy to identify and add a dry base. Very unisex, I'd even say its above the genders, there is nothing seductive about it at all. Just pure calmness and wellness, very natural-smelling. I'm impressed with Sara Jardin company ethos and really love their approach, it would be an easy choice for autumn/winter IF ONLY the longevity would be there. I mean- it projects about 30 min and in 2 h the party is over. totally - even vanilla is incredibly fleeting. What a pity. May try it on fabric just to see if it holds up longer.

I got the sample set and this is one of my favourites. I have tried a lot of sandalwood fragrances, and love a few, but agree with earlier commenters that this one doesn't have that infamous dill pickle note that often occurs with sandalwood. I love the woody notes with the hint of vanilla, which definitely adds that comforting, cosy dimension. It definitely has a lactonic, coconutty tone on my skin, which actually reminds me of Matiere Premier Parisian Musc, which I recently purchased a FB of. I'd say this is Parisian Musc without the fig leaf, and is slightly less lactonic. I love both though and think this is a really beautiful, softly luxurious scent that feels quite unique and elegant.

A very clean sandalwood; remarkable in its ability to remain highly fragrant throughout wear, linear but in a positive sense. Vanilla is certainly present but it exists more in the background, providing a necessary level of silky-smoothness to this scent. I rarely reach for it and I consider that to be a shame because it really is quite uplifting and appropriate for year-round wear, depending of course on circumstance/weather. Received a lot of compliments yesterday evening which I was quite taken aback by! Perhaps I should have sprayed a bit less as I do feel this works best as a more intimate scent. Lovely perfume!

It's a lovely skin scent. The vetiver keeps the sandalwood from getting too dry and pencil-y. BUT I like my sandalwoods very dry and dusty and smokey. So this fragrance is a softer and more tame version of what I hoped it would be. Still . . . I am enjoying it. There is enough bergamot and neroli (what I now recognize at Sana Jardin's Moroccan DNA), that the opening note is light and citrusy. The sandalwood sneaks up on you. There is a little bit of vanilla sweetness in there (I guess?! It's so faint). I am ok with a skin scent but I was hoping for a little more longevity.

Sandalwood Temple is one the stand outs for me from the Sana Jardin collection. I think this is a great year-round scent - I can see myself wearing this rugged up in wool and cashmere in the cooler months as well as during summer. I mainly get toned-down creamy sandalwood, vanilla, vetiver and cedar. Although coconut isn't listed, I get a slight hint of coconut, which may be why I think this would be night-time beach party appropriate. The only downside is that I wished this would have the same powerful sillage and lasting power as the floral fragrances.

This is a really well-done sandalwood — light, smooth and very easy to wear. Nothing screechy, nothing overly musky or heavy, just a calm, polished take on the note. On me, sandalwood is always a little linear, but this one is a particularly good linear — it is refined, wearable and quietly pleasant all the way through. A genuinely lovely scent, just not my scent.. if that makes sense? If you are sandalwood scent fan, this is absolutely worth a try. For me .. ok, it was more appreciation than love, but it truly smells fantastic on the right skin.

It really does remind me of humidity and moist wood. It's like being in a humid rainforest in south east asia and entering a freshly-built wooden structure made from raw lumber. I wouldn't say a 'temple' though, because I don't really get much incense or spiciness from this fragrance. The vanilla softens the woodiness out nicely. I will wear this and enjoy it, but I think it's the perfect scent for someone a bit more hippy than me. I would imagine smelling this on a girl doing firetwirling at a festival wearing big pants from india.

This is a fantastic woody, vanilla fragrance! The most dominant notes to my nose are sandalwood, vetiver, bergamot (in the opening), vanilla, and a bit of cedar. There are no spices listed, but I definitely get some spice (cardamom?). The vanilla adds some sweetness, and this is actually quite addicting. In my opinion this is completely unisex. I'm a female and I would LOVE to smell this on a man. Performance is outstanding, with good projection and this lasts ALL day on me. This would be fantastic for the cooler months!

This is a delightfully creamy sandalwood. Transitions from creamy to dry, I get cedar but it doesn't remind me of pencil shavings in the least. Wood-centric, don't get a lot of the bergamot or the vanilla in the dry down, but the sandalwood is so pretty that I don't mind. Projects for 3-4 hours on me and then becomes a skin scent. I would wear this to the office or on a day trip, I think you could wear it for a date night in but I personally wouldn't for a night out.

This is primarily a smooth, very realistic cedar scent, sanded til soft and sweetened with orange blossom and a hint of creamy citrus. The sandalwood peeps through about 45 minutes into the drydown. It’s a really lovely skin scent and not terribly complex, but skin scents needn’t be. I’ve tried several Sana Jardin fragrances and all have weak projection, but at least with this one, I don’t feel like the perfume is the poorer for it.

This is a gorgeous powdery dry sandalwood which is extremely wearable, with a touch of light spice. The fragrance formula itself has a slightly oily texture which I really like but the lasting power is sub-par. A pleasant enough, warm sandalwood suitable for everyday wear from a female led and sustainable brand but the performance brings it down - 6/10

Creamy sandalwood paste. I got a sample of this since I saw this on a list of 'butter' fragrances (despite not actually listing this as a note). I would describe it more like a mascarpone or sweet ricotta in the opening, which dries down woody. I'm layering this today with Diptyque's Benjoin Bohème and I like the added sweetness and depth it provides.

Has that fuzzy, ‘can you smell it or not’ quality of Atelier Cologne Santal Carmin. Where the sandalwood is soft and there’s a hazy sweetness, the same aromachemical that’s in BR547. It’s nice. If I didn’t have the Atelier I’d buy it, I think this is more sandalwoody and less of that hazy chemical. But otherwise they’re the same.

creamy without losing the woodiness. reminds me slightly of the dna of somebody wood by Phlur, but this one is more unisex. wears very lightly & close to the skin, perfect for bed or to wear casually around the house as it has a comforting quality. i don’t know that i need a full bottle but my decant will be nice to have around.

smells like sandalwood and vanilla beans crushed in a mortal and pestle in a temple where constant lighting of incense occurs throughout the day. slightly sacrilege, spiritual. overly grounding in a way that makes me feel protected, like not giving an f about anything, and therefore i love it

wore this to watch sentimental value in theaters and now can't separate the smell from the feeling of a much-needed hug from an older sister the combination of vanilla and bergamot transforms into a spiced orange note for me. feels like christmas and sits well on a sweater.

This is a beautiful warm sandalwood fragrance which is quietly persistent. It has, however, confirmed to me that I do not love sandalwood as a note in my perfume. I like this but I don’t love it. The sandalwood lover that I gave this to absolutely loves it!
