Tiger By Her Side

Purchased a few weeks ago a Sana Jardin discovery set and tested so far about half of the perfumes contained. Tiger by Her Side is the first (so far) that I would consider purchasing a bottle because it ticks all my boxes: scent, intensity, performance! It’s a very warm, super balsamic, ambery, benzoic, resinous, soft spicy perfume that for cold weather it’s perfection! It’s one of my all time favourite type of fragrance to wear!! Unlike most from Sana Jardin, Tiger by Her Side is deep, rich, thick, intense. It’s the longest lasting from the set and it’s projecting more compared to others. When I move my arm in the air, I can feel it easily, it’s radiating nicely of my skin. While it’s a scent profile that has been done before a billion times by most brands, it’s done well and I love how amazing it smells. As it dries down, the combo of patchouli and rose shines through and contrasts beautifully with the resins and the amber/vanilla. Unlike other Sana Jardin, this seems more complex and multifaceted, which I find makes a fragrance more interesting... Obviously it’s more of fall and winter weather appropriate scent, and we are finding ourselves during spring season, but I would consider purchasing a 50 ml bottle of Tiger by Her Side for next cold seasons. It’s a great representation of this scent DNA! I would recommend this to amber fans! At least to get a sample, if anything.. As a side note, I have tried a few days ago Ambre Nuit by Dior and I think Tiger by Her Side is the superior amber out of the two!

I can’t stop smelling this! I get the cinnamon & amber throughout entire wear. I also get a kind of pluminess that is divine. Projection & longevity are both great. Unfortunately I’ll never purchase from this brand EVER AGAIN! Customer service is non existent. I never received a tracking # so I waited a few days & emailed the brand, still haven’t heard back. I sent a dm on Instagram, they read the message but never replied. I replied to a comment from the founder - no one reached out. The brand appears to only respond to “influencers” they’ve gifted fragrance to. Packaging is a joke for a “luxury” brand. The bottles box came in an unnecessary large magnetized box with a ton of crinkle paper. How is this sustainable as the brand claims to be? The bottle feels cheap in hand, below average glass. The cap came scratched, feels like it doesn’t want to go onto to bottle & doesn't “snap” on. I purchased a sample & had to dig around for it, wasn’t in its own box or wrapped. This brand has a no return policy but also didn’t include complimentary samples. If I’m spending over $100 on a bottle from a “luxury” brand, samples should be a no brainer. I have LV, Byredo, TF, MFK... these are luxury brands. Utterly disappointing experience from a small, woman owned brand.

Ok I have to admit that Chanel Coromandel edp is my desert island scent. I know it so well. Tiger does indeed smell very similar to Coromandel on the opening but then it slightly veers away. There is no chocolate with Tiger relying on the amber and rose for warmth. There is a big dose of lovely cinnamon which immediately makes me think of southern India. This is like the spicy love child of Coromandel and Serge Lutens Borneo with an incense boost. It gradually gets a bit more damp and jungle like as the patch becomes the dominant note. You can still just about pick out the cinnamon, amber, rose and resins in the background. This is not as potent as Chanel Coromandel edp. For most of its timeline it is a spicy patch bomb with the roses and amber but a memory. We are now well and truly slashing our way through Indian jungle trying to get a sighting of the elusive beautiful, dangerous and majestic tiger. I pray mankind does not make this amazing creature extinct like he has so many others. It's a fab scent for cold weather wear. I really like it. I get above average silage and good longevity which no doubt we can thank the patch for. This is a cold room so I'm certain this scent would be quite strong in a warm atmosphere. A very unisex scent.

What a lovely, light Oriental fragrance. For all the strong notes, it's somehow very delicate. It's delicious, without being at all gourmand. The florals are there, indistinct and mixed together like a lovely bouquet. The spice and incense are up front, but not in an overbearing way. A perfect fragrance, from the mid to late summer nights, to autumn and winter days and nights. Not particularly spring-like, but it still wouldn't be amiss. Generally, a delightful, and dare I say, magical perfume. I walk with tigers every day, albeit little tigers. They're spicy critters too. I truly love this perfume. I would love to have a full bottle of it. EDIT: I put it on today, and for the first time - maybe because it's aged in bottle for almost a year? - I realized it smells a LOT like my oh so beloved, long-lost, 1977 Opium, that I long for like an addict of the actual stuff. And as I was reading the newer reviews looking down for mine, I saw where someone said it reminded her of Obsession. It does, somewhat. That was another passion of mine. Well, if my financial woes improve, of which the prospect is somewhat dismal, I'll definitely buy a full bottle.

Likable enough but not for everyone. I bought a blind-buy full bottle and used it up...not inexpensive! My sister is a patchouli lover and that's what she smelled when I wore this. To me, TBHS is a spicy patchouli scent that opens with definite adelhylic bergamot and spice...spice, spice & more spice! Cinnamon, coriander...initial application almost smells like walking into an Indian spice shop after initially passing someone pressing fresh sweet orange juice. The fragrance quickly moves to a pleasant, somewhat sweet patchouli and lands in a resinous & balsamic yet sweet sweet (vanilla) way. Intermittently, I detect incense and smokiness. But on me, this fragrance is all spicy, somewhat resinous, sticky vanilla patchouli. Silage is minimal, as I found this fragrance sits close to the skin (but my sister DID smell it when I gave her a hug-smile). Longevity is 5-6 hours. This perfume is nice enough. I am currently on my second bottle and while TBHS doesn't hit all the marks, it is close enough for me and I enjoy wearing it!

This is the scent that guided me to Coromandel. I never understood the love for Coromandel. Then last year I got samples of Sana Jardin perfumes and Tiger by Her Side immediately jumped out in front. There is something so comforting, cashmere shawl about it that for me, it was simply irresistible. It's ambery, resinous patchouli, very smooth and well blended. It quickly became my comfort go-to scent. Around Xmas last year I realised, I was craving something similar to TbHS, but edgier. Warm and cosy, but naughty. And here is where Coromandel comes in. If I was to compare them I'd say that TbHS is like a lady on a chilly autumn afternoon going for a ride on her beautiful horse, while Coromandel is like a lady, who just woke up, put on her warm leggings, merino wool jumper, a random scarf and oversised hat, these ugly UGG boots, and now is chasing in the fields after her dog. I love them both!

Outstanding and intriguing winter scent. I bought Sana Jardin discovery set and I'm impressed with most of scents so far. I was a little apprehensive and anxious to try this scent because of its name, but after I tried it, I've finally understood the "Tiger by her side" concept. It matches what you find in the bottle. I envision a confident, mysterious, charismatic and effortlessly seductive person wearing it. A person who is intelligent, influential and who has everything under control. How does it smell? It's an amber warm spicy scent with a tangy note. It's not a breakthrough type of scent - you've probably smelled this scent profile before, but it doesn't matter - it's perfectly executed and well blended. I sprayed in the morning and I enjoyed it until the evening. Well-rated for a good reason. It's beautiful.

Toasty benzoin, effervescent, herbaceous patchouli, dusty cinnamon and a fair amount of gentle sweetness from rose and vanilla. The result is a natural smelling and enveloping amber fragrance with certain intricacies and minimal eccentricity. Now, I understand the analogy to Coromandel but what differentiates this from the Chanel is the cinnamon-vanilla duo. This has a lovely fruity bubblegummy top while Coromandel opens with Chanel's typical citruses - bright and sparkling, and while these both share patchouli as one of the main notes, it's much heavier and woodier in the latter yet in Tiger By Her Side it only adds a herbal tinge to the amber accord. Coromandel I only like but this I love, and no, it's definitely not redundant to own both.

Forget tiger by my side, when I wear this stunning perfume I feel like the tiger herself! 🐅 A graceful, mesmerising, ferocious tigress who does whatever she wants. This is a new love for me. I really don’t know why people are complaining that Tiger by her Side is too intense and spicy - have they never tried oriental fragrances before? And this one has no relation to dusty potpourri whatsoever. Tiger by her Side is a richly nuanced amber oriental perfume, well blended with spices, soft chocolatey patchouli and a beautiful juicy rose. It smells like the love child of Ambre Nuit and Portrait of a Lady - and as someone who loves both of those, but wants to find more ethically produced scents, that makes me very happy!

The right choice all right. For this perfect sunny cool day that 100% feels like Fall. At first when I sprayed, it smelled like pure honey. Thick and drippy. Then in quick succession came the spices, resins, and amber. The cinnamon and frankincense pair so beautifully and pop from my skin with some help from the most gorgeous blending of patchouli and rose that I have ever smelled. There’s an air of - a more ambery - Chanel Coromandel. The patchouli is comparable, but far less intense here; and some combination of notes gives me a flicker of that same white chocolate. I love this. A real stunner. Thoroughly intoxicating, deep, complex, soothing, and sensuous. MASTERPIECE

This fragrance seems to be polarising but for me it is spicy, rich, warming gorgeousness. It opens with a sweet amber, cinnamon, incense, and bold spice. It’s heady for sure. I can’t notice the patchouli or rose so much initially but as it starts to dry down it creeps in. I really really like this fragrance. Yes it’s true it’s not original, but I would rather buy from an ethical company. And quite amazingly, it does not give me a headache or nausea, which I find to be a big problem for me with scents of this profile.

I cannot get enough of this. To me it smells so similar to Coromandel, yet still different enough that I want and need both. And even though I have both, I end up going for this one more than Coromandel. The benzoin, incense, labdanum and patchouli in this make it a Heavenly scent. I can still smell it on me when I wake up the next day too. If you love Coromandel you have got to try this!

such a delicious patchouli! so so cozy. the rose with all the spice is delightful for me. i was expecting this to be too much for my taste and i could absolutely see over doing this but with a spritz on each wrists, i feel just so cozy. will definitely be my go to for when im in a cozy sweater

I wear this perfume when I want to feel powerful. Perhaps it's just the power of suggestion in the name, but who cares? It works a charm when I need a boost of confidence. I'll bet the cinnamon has a soothing quality too. Wear it to your next job interview and see what happens!

A mystical and deeply sensual fragrance, bringing to life the most convincingly rendered impression of ancient Egyptian kyphi I've encountered. This is a fragrance that can make the wearer feel powerful. A truly gorgeous and impressive scent.

Beautiful spicy balsamic scent! Very Christmassy ✨ I can feel lots of cinnamon in there (love this note!) next to sweet and warming benzoins and amber notes. I think it’s a classic amber without soapy vintage vibes. Love it!

Ambery more oriental and less aldehydic version of Coromandel. Very nice fragrance but too similar in price to Chanel. Doesn’t have the infamous white chocolate nuance that the Chanel has, but i still enjoy this very much.

i really really love this scent-just wish i could find a longer lasting and less expensive scent that evokes the same feeling

This opens with an immediate gentle, softly spiced warmth that feels calm and grown-up. There’s a quiet woody backbone right from the start, and it all feels smooth and well balanced rather than sharp. As it develops, it settles into a softly incense-leaning blend of woods and mild spice. Nothing here shouts — the journey is restrained, elegant, and very wearable. On my skin it stays balanced, it never tips heavy or overly resinous. This is a really good one from this house, and definitely worth a sample for any woody spice fan!

the best vanilla scent i have ever tried. currently only have the sample but will probably opt for a bigger one. the opening and heart note is gorgeous with warm spicy notes and hint of vanilla in the back this is such a cozy scent. it is not gourmand which is great for me. the vanilla is also not cloying and overly sweet even in the dry down when the scent is mainly just vanilla with a hint of patchouli. it lasts all day but sits relatively close to the skin although i am not a heavy applier

Spicy patchouli, amber, and an aftertaste of incense. The opening is something I'm sure I've smelled before - not Coromandel as I haven't tried it, but it's similar to other scents I've tried. While this is not a unique fragrance, I can see why people like it, it's definately likeable and wearable. Or at least up to the point when incense takes the centrestage. I simply don't like wearing that church vibe. Anyhow, Tiger By Her Side is a beautiful fragrance and deserves its rating!

I really like this one. A resinous fragrance with a prominent patchouli note, and I also get something plummy in this even though plum is not listed as a note. I see facets of Wood Jasmin by BDK and Coromandel in this, although I find it more similar to Wood Jasmin than Coromandel. Not super unique, but very nice nonetheless and one I wouldn't mind adding to my collection down the road.

The resemblance to coromandel is definite and hard to miss especially in the opening then it gets more resinous and maybe smoother not in a good way mind you than the later It’s good but not great Performance is good but it doesn’t project I believe if you have coromandel by Chanel then to me it’s a redundant purchase

Opening: Warm spicy bergamot so slightly citrus Dry down: slightly spicy and citrusy vanilla, mainly just vanilla but it's a really nice one The perfume kind of reminded me of Vanilla Diorama by Dior but i actually think i prefer this one as the citrus is more toned down and the vanilla is creamier

On me, this is a strong, sweet amber with heavy cinnamon. It reminds me of Ambre Loup from BDK (to my untrained nose.) Not an everyday perfume for me, but I can see wearing it on a winter day or evening when I want a boost of - cozy confidence?

So glad that coromandel is one of the suggested similar fragrances I was starting to wonder if my nose was broken! This is coromandels sexy spicy sister. Really beautiful, warm, sweet, resinous - but you have to love patchouli.

I love it! I love it almost as much as I love Carven Paris Sao Paulo (blasphemy!)~ cinnamon is the key here! A is for amber, J is for Jardin, cinnamon devoted amber frag (>to the jingle of Apple Jacks).

spicy cinnamon with a bit of vanilla and rose. excited to wear this when the weather cools down a bit. feel like this one exudes confidence and will turn heads. nice scent

I had such high hopes for this, and purchased the sample set primarily to try this and Revolution de La Fleur (loved the latter). I had been looking for a rich, soft, rounded amber scent for evening that didn't smell too old-ladyish. Essentially, I wanted Diptyque's Ambre candle in a fragrance form, and this came up as a more affordable take on Chanel Coromandel which had been compared to Ambre previously. I also like Ambre Nuit so thought this was worth a try, and the description of the notes and the name and ethos of the scent sounded so perfect. I really wanted to love this but the cinnamon note overwhelms the opening and that sweet, spicy combination just did not sit well with me. It felt like a Christmas candle or diffuser which is definitely not what I want to smell like - cinnamon makes me think of pumpkin spice and yankee candles and that one note just threw this off for me. I will say that there are a few others I like in the set though so as a house I'm quite impressed!

Decant sample- in the opening I get a faint jammy rose and apple cinnamon rum, clear and boozy. Then some soft benzoin and labdanum. The far dry down is a soft, sweet patchouli. I find this to be a very light skin scent, I can barely smell it at all and it doesn't seem to be a complete fragrance. I don't understand the name at all, there is no tiger in this scent for me.

Its kind of a ‘thin’ amber, not a rich lush amber - perfectly pleasant but not outstanding. Lot of cinnamon on opening which is nice but the coriander note comes across a bit pointed and sharp which I don’t enjoy. Overall I feel like half of the fragrance is somehow missing. I prefer my ambers much richer than this. No tiger.

It’s too spicy/cinnamony for me - but if you are in the market for a spicy, soft vanilla, this could be ideal. It lasts a decent time, it’s moderately loud, it’s a decent price. It’s not for me but I can see why others love it.

Honey, cinnamon and patchouli. Very sweet, very fall, like one of those strong scented candles. I like sweet perfumes but this one is a bit strong. I'm trying to spray sparingly and giving it another few tries.

pretty uncomplicated amber and cinnamon with a patchouli funk towards the end. not crazy about it and a little sweeter than i would have liked!

I have come back to this frag after a good while, and holy shit my perception has shifted. When I first tried this at the beginning of my fragrance journey, I found this to be warm and incensy, but a bit too spiced and sharp for my nosebuds. I was prompted to try it again, as the new Aesop release - Steorra - reminded me of a better version of the memory I had of this. So I went back to sample it, and now it smells just as incensy and warm, but nowhere near as sharp. Now I find it more thick and almost boozy sweet. I still unfortunately don’t enjoy it, I seem to have jumped from “too sharp” to “too thickly sweet”. Same as then, I really want to enjoy it, and I can fully see the intent, it just misses the mark. There’s just more memorable frags that do it better. A lot of the Memo Paris brand encapsules this vibe, just better executed unfortunately. Still, I can absolutely see someone loving this. Just not me sweet tiger.

This is 3-0 for me out of my discovery sampler from this perfumer (am still testing out Sandalwood Temple which so far I like, but not a favorite, so it's not a total loss). Like Incense Water, Tiger blasts and stays and I straight up resent that the ones I like the least have the best longevity. This one is patchouli, bit of rose, and tons o'spice with these spice top notes lingering FOREVER and not for the good. Best review so far is from @iamposhy below. Says it all in one sentence: "Sadly, it's giving holiday potpourri by her bedside." LMAO

Starts out as a warm spicy, smoky, and amber scent, and mellows out to be a rosy patchouli (a bit like incense water). The vanilla base is only noticeable way into the wear when it's nearly worn off. Very warm and seductive. I don't love the spice notes personally, they're not overbearing, but just not to my liking. The wear time is a little short as well.

Ooft, not for me,I blind bought it , so I'm going to have to sell it, glad it wasn't a big bottle. The patchouli is so overpowering I can't stand it, it reminds me of an old handbag my granny gave me for dressing up when I was about 10, that stank too. Sandalwood temple on the other hand is beautiful

It leans more masculine to me. I don’t gravitate towards these kinds of blends, especially with patchouli and cinnamon. But I could see many liking this incensy-type of fragrance.

Heavily sweet and spicy, is really nice but doesn't last long and is not original at all, it's smells exactly the same as Dior Addict, difference is that Dior Addict last longer. I liked it but certainly is not worth paying such a expensive price when there are plenty of other similar fragrances that are more affordable and perform better.

Some ambers and resins have a crystalline quality, like a jewel warmed in the sun. I’ve smelled frankincense that is practically effervescent. The scent of benzoin, however, often has a cloudy, chalky consistency for me, with all the opacity of a marshmallow (and some of its dusty super-sweetness). The standout benzoin in Tiger By Her Side has that chalky quality. It cloys, but that’s not a turn-off for me. I find this fragrance to strongly resemble two fragrances I already have full bottles of: Kenzo Jungle L’éléphant (in its bright, gritty spices mixed with sweet creaminess) and Miller Harris Scherzo (with its thick, sweet, woody rose/vanilla combo topped with sugared citrus peels). So for me, it’s a bit redundant in my collection. On second thought, it’s also like ELDO Bijou Romantique, which is sort of like an attenuated Shalimar. Evaluated on its own terms, I think this fragrance needs something to give it lift; it feels like it’s made entirely of base notes, even more so than your boilerplate “oriental,” which often runs the risk of being bottom-heavy. Nobody asked me, but a moody orange blossom or bright ylang-ylang might give this the kind of twist that would make it more appealing to me — ever a great lover of florals (and also vanilla). Soft but tenacious, this fragrance still lingers after 8 hours —a close, cozy, sweet vanilla, still smelling of marshmallow.

Despite it being a base note in many of my perfumes, I had no idea what patchouli smelled like for a while. And then I discovered two patchouli perfumes through samples: Essence de Patchouli by Alyssa Ashley, and Tiger by Her Side by Sana Jardin, around the same time. The two smell very similar but TbhS is much more well-rounded with the cinnamon note. It also smells like Kensington Amber by Penhaligon’s or Alexandria Fragrances Apple Crumb with lighter apple cinnamon and more patchouli. Well I love it and it’s very comforting, will be purchasing a full bottle in the fall. Edit: Do others get a slightly musty mold smell in the base that is only detectible at a close sillage? Maybe it’s just my sample. Also, does anyone else get a comparison of this with Lord of Misrule by Lush, because that one is also a vanilla patchouli?

Definitely not coromandel, I just had that on yesterday, nowhere near. To me this smells vintage and very much like Yves Rocher Yria. Citrussy spicy balsamic very floral and just enough old school vibes not to give me a headache. That said Yria turned chemical on me and now smelling this I am bracing myself for similar experiences. I'm not super impressed here, with those notes and that name and the coromandel comparison I was really expecting more oomph from the benzoin and amber / patch. But somehow this smells a lot more floral to me than the notes would suggest and doesn't have that resinous warmth and depth that I was hoping for. In fact it's rather fleeting, much like yria, but thankfully the chemical blast has not shown itself. Something almost sour on drydown. Maybe the coriander?

Not quite what I was expecting - a lovely and very warm amber; chewy toffees made with a hint of medicinal Tiger balm; and surprisingly fresh green in the background. The coriander is a bit soapy here. The scent is in the same vein as Mugler's Miroir de Majestes, but not anywhere near as beautiful. On my skin I smell lemon balm leaves, and also find it a little too citrusy from the bergamot in the opening. Additionally, I'm not a lover of labdanum, which is present throughout, although the whole perfume is gone within a few hours. Certainly it smells better from afar than it does when you press your nose to your wrist, but a lack of both sillage and longevity don't allow for a lot of wafting. Think I'll stick to my Mugler.

Upon first spray, I'm immediately taken back to 2005. One of my friends wore Prada, and I wore Calvin Klein Euphoria. I remember those years as a cloud of both (Carlos Benaïm worked on both!). I think TBHS most closely resembles Prada Amber. TBHS has the patchouli fullness I remember from the original Prada that now seems to be missing in the newer iteration. This could all be my imagination, of course. There is also an extra undesirable (powdery cinnamon?) sweetness at the bottom of TBHS that catches in my throat and makes me hesitate on a full bottle. Still chasing that Prada/Euphoria high. Edit: At drydown, it has nothing to do with either fragrance. I see why people are comparing it to a cinnamon candle.

The opening is sharp, a fizzy mix of cinnamon and coriander. After a while, a patchouli note joins the ever present cinnamon, with a touch of resin. Only in the base do the cinnamon and patchouli finally calm down, allowing the vanilla, incense and amber to come through, and that stage is genuinely pleasant. Unfortunately, this tiger and I won’t be getting along. For me, there’s simply far too much cinnamon and patchouli here. The fragrance resembles Cherry Cola by Paris Corner, which is likewise heavily dominated by cinnamon. Longevity is around four hours, and the projection is moderate.

Firstly, this perfume lasted over 15 hours from one single spray on the wrist. Literally unheard of for perfumes these days, impressive. It’s beautiful, a little heavy on the patch for my usual scent profile but still lovely. I’m getting Angel vibes at certain points of the journey, just not as “crotchety” dirty, naughty patch like angel ( side note, my two bottles of Angel are from the early 2000’s to late 90s variety so we are talking power house). I am wearing tbhs to work today, I’m sure my clients and colleagues will get whiffs as I walk by or they sit in my office.

The longevity is much better than Sandalwood Temple by the same house, but it still projects very little, if at all. It might be good for people who are looking for a balanced, well blended, incensey, amber skin scent. It's a classy offering. I was looking for something with more projection, more patchouli, and perhaps a bit more originality? This turns a bit too woody on my skin for my liking. It's a shame as I do like what Sana Jardin stands for.

At the dry down, this smells just like Coco Mademoiselle on me. Upon application it's a bright, fruity amber - not my favorite scent but I didn't hate it. The middle is where things are iffy to me - there's a warm...something. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly - organic, for lack of any other way to describe it - uncomfortably intimate. I considered scrubbing it off for a bit. For me it's a pass.
