Venus of Verbena

Testing Venus of Verbena from a 2 ml Sana Jardin official sample. To my surprise, I love Venus of Verbena! It radiates freshness! On my skin, it’s very verbena/lemon/ litsea cubeba forward with neroli and clary sage coming close, as supporting notes. A beautiful mix of refreshing, bitter and green, energising and mood boosting notes that creates the perfect spring or summer scent! I find all Sana Jardin white floral/citrusy perfumes smelling very photorealistic and natural, bright and uplifting, but quite light and airy and lacking in performance. Longevity could be better for the high price it costs. So, as much as I like the scent, I wouldn’t get a bottle because of the price. Side note, don’t know if anyone else noticed, but I find similarities between this and Berber Blonde, with the mention that I prefer better Venus of Verbena. I know they are an ethical/ social conscious brand and they support the local communities from where they select their raw materials, but I care way more to get value for my money and have fragrances that lasts me through the day... And some of their perfumes are just too pricey for the way they perform! Edit August 2025: I have brought with me the travel size of this and in the high heat&humidity of the South of Spain, Venus of Verbena offers a well deserved moment of respiro from the suffocating temperatures. It is a light scent, but for the time it lasts, it gives me life...

I bought a bottle of this on a whim after smelling it in a store and wore it almost every day for a year. The initial smell is pretty sharp, and more lemon than verbena, but within about 5 minutes cools off to let the verbena come through. the 1 hour mark onward is where it really starts to shine. if you want a purely verbena perfume this is not necessarily my choice, but the neroli and musk combine really well to create a scent that is fresh and citrusy without being too sharp. the verbena, despite no longer being quite as noticeable, is still present. TLDR: not a purely verbena scent but a really pleasant citrusy and green perfume

I starts with a sour note strong and pungent But thank god it turns to aromatic territory quite fast For the first hour it keeps pumping beautifully Then it fades slowly and stays for a skin scent for a good while I gotta say I didn’t expect it to last I thought it would disappear after an hour Sadly sour notes and scents are not my cup of tea Give it a try maybe it’s the summer scent for you

Currently working my way through the discovery set. Venus of Verbena somehow really reminds me of CK One, although I'm not sure why as apart from lemon and musk, they don't appear to share any notes! It takes me back to the 90s. Unisex, very fresh, citrussy, very bright and really clean. Not overly complex but really easy to wear on summer days.

Lemon oil, verbena, and orange blossom. There is a watery feel to this--I understand the Febreeze comparison, although I don't feel it quite goes into cleaning or detergent territory. Lightweight and dissipates before anything interesting happens.

Tested this along other 19 "spring citrus" scents and this among the top 3:). I`m in general a citrus fan but this is lively and punchy and full of sunny energy.

The most prevalent scent in this is definitely lemon, almost a lemon peel smell. I did joke it smelled a bit like a spray of limonene filled cleaning product, but I feel like that only really stays for 30 sec of so before the alcohol evaporates, so I wouldn't be worried about that. But the zesty lemon very much stays, at least on me. I can also smell the orange blossom and verbena, it smells floral not in a wam summers day way, but more as early spring, it's still pretty cold outside, and greenery and flowers are just starting to sprout green leaves and buds. The heliotrope is adding a very hidden sweetness that is fighting to get through, but unfortunately on me none of the sweet notes really get the chance to shine. The musk is adding a rich, heaviness that I would rarely expect of a citrusy scent, but as much as I'm intrigued, I feel like it may be contributing to the overall heaviness of the lemon and giving it that cleaning product feel that some people speak about. It's not a super complex scent, what you spray is what you get, there aren't layers upon layers of scent story unraveling. And even if there were, it is pretty short lived. The silage is intimate, and even after about half an hour or so I'm feeling it start to dissipate. But I'd also be scared to reapply too much because the lemon is so piercing. I do think this is a lovely fragrance it's just not for me personally. It's still pretty inoffensive but it's definitely not your typical floral citrus, it's very zesty. Not unpleasant, but don't go into it thinking you're getting a gentle sweet orange when it's much more lemon juice and greenery. I can see how it's not for everyone but I could absolutely see someone loving this if they like strong citrus scents!

This to me is not a green fresh verbena, which is what I expected from the name, it's more like you are smelling some polleny oily florals, something inbetween immortelle and mimosa, or even broome, alongside some Italian lemons preserved in oil. If you are looking for fresh bright joyful Verbena, try L'Occitane Verveine, although you'll have to spray it in clothes because it's gone very quickly on my skin. I wasn't sure about this at all to begin with, but the more I wore my 5ml, the more I enjoyed it, it's still not a love though, just indifference, and I am not thinking about buying a bottle.

It's a sweet, fresh, and well-rounded scent, and I would LOVE it if it stuck around, but it just doesn't. Absolutely vanishes within twenty minutes. Maybe the spray lasts longer than my little rollerball? It's a pity because I love Sana Jardin, and I would love for this to be my regular summer scent, but I'd have to obsessively reapply it like five times an hour. Oh well, into the handbag it goes, in case I ever need a quick (but short-lived) refresh.

Given the name, I expected this to be very verbena forward, but unfortunately, it’s not. I get a strong neroli + clary sage on initial spray, which eventually dries down to neroli + vetiver. I do really enjoy neroli, but I REALLY wanted for this to be a beautiful verbena and orange blossom combo. The verbena is there, I can definitely smell it, but it plays more of a supporting role instead of being the star.

I have no idea why, but in both of the discovery sets I bought (one for me and one for my mom) this one was partially depleted. That said, the scent is nice. The lemon is definitely present for me and is even a little sweet, kinda reminding me of lemon candy. But there's a clean, musky quality that makes it smell more mature and expensive. I'm just usually not usually a big citrus fan.

It smells good but disappears on me. I get more of the clean fresh notes but also flowery. I am not getting a strong citrus scent at all. I purchased it because I thought it would be a strong citrus scent. It smells good. I like it, but it is not at all what I was expecting. And it doesn't last long on me.

This has a very "Febreze" element to it that I can't shake. While the scent is "clean", the lemon top note is a bit overpowering, and it's a little so synthetic smelling to feel "fresh"

I think verbena just doesn’t work for me. I can’t really explain, but there’s something that is I guess oily to the citrus? So, it’s not zesty or refreshing. It feels heavy.

Very very verbena. Exactly like a verbena soap I once had. That's all I got.

Since there aren't many reviews of Sana Jardin fragrances available, I will try write one for each of them on the basis of my discovery set. Venus of Verbena definitely lives up to its name, and verbena is the leading note on a gentle citrus-flowery bed. it is very likeable, refreshing and probably very good for spring and summer. And now a SURPRISE: the longevity! It lasted on me for +12 hours. I sprayed it in the evening and woke up still smelling and projecting it. Not sure if this is only me, maybe there will be more reviewers writing about their experience, but this is so far the most long-lasting verbena/citrusy scent I have ever worn. This is a clean brand, so the prices and maybe 'lack of originality' arguments are completely irrelevant to me. I am glad to use safe products, that do not harm my health, which is the case with huge portion of perfume industry. However, I think in this particular case it is entirely possible to find a clean verbena scent at much lower price point (I will be trying some myself). I received a sample of this today. I'm trying to decide if I like this better than Revolution de la Fleur. Whilst I was hoping for more citrus I find this a very inoffensive scent, quite warm and musky. I have tried a few Sana Jardin perfumes and this is one of the most wearable. It smells classy and expensive. Sillage isn't great, longevity seems ok so far. Overall a good every day perfume but I might need to try it a few times before I decide if I like it or not. If they put a bit more lemon in it I very likely would. Edit: on a second spray I can definitely smell lemon but I guess it's a question of how long the lemon note lasts. It's definitely growing on me though.

I do not care for lemon verbena essential oil so I waited to try this from the sample set, thinking I would not like it. I would describe Venus of Verbena as effervescent, translucent, feminine, & ethereal. While i do agree it doesn't seem to last, I feel like it gives almost an aura around me and I just smell fresh and clean and i am happy to respray. Interestingly, it lasts 30+ hrs on the blotter and on clothes. While i have been on an eternal quest for a signature scent, just when I least expected to find it, I may very well have. This is beautiful. Just received a FB and couldn't be happier, even in November. I also bought Incense Water and it is quite delicious.

The name is on point, as it mixes the feminine vibe with so often masculine-leaning, sharp freshness of verbena. The opening has a strong lemon note, after a while the scent settles down making orange flower quite prominent, like they are fully heated by the sun. A bit like mediterranean summer, maybe not on the coast, but more in the countryside. The longevity is... transcient, but I am fine with it and will re-purchase next year.

truly reminds me of a bathroom after it's been used, and then a cheap spray has been excessively spritzed to cover up said smell...such a shame, but the association with an inexpensive toilet is never what I want to smell like so it's a no from me

A powerhouse verbena. Bold for a citric centered scent(say that ten times fast!) Quite enjoyable and unique with the heliotrope and vetiver adds. Unisex Naturally crafted. ✨

Similar to berber blond (bathroom cleaning product scent) but also peppery? a bit more food like -- (thai food, lemongrass, peppers, etc)

Smells like gingery lemony soap. Reminds me of citronella or cleaning products. Not for me.
