Angels of Florence

I bought a bottle of this from Santa Maria Novella when I was in Florence in 2014 during the summer for our first anniversary. This perfume reminds me of that beautiful trip, full of hot, sunny days roaming Italian streets eating gelato. We traveled to Venice shortly after, and I remember wearing this on the Grande Canal drinking a Bellini, thinking the scent reminded me of the drink and location: a breezy white floral overlaying light fruity-sweetness, just like a fizzy Bellini made with a floral-fronted Prosecco. There is an Ozonic element to this fragrance, but nothing marine-like or beachy, and it passes quickly once it starts to drydown. I used up my whole bottle long ago, but I adored it, and this perfume will always be special to me. Highly recommend it, and if you do ever get the chance to visit Florence, make sure to visit Santa Maria Novella’s flagship store - it’s utterly exquisite, and a really fun experience, even my husband enjoyed going there! Edit: Writing this review made me miss this perfume so much, I bought a new bottle! Can’t wait to smell it again!!

Delicate, no-frills, everyday floral. Green and aromatic, it is inoffensive and likely to be enjoyed by everyone. It smells like walking into a florist shop in spring or a morning at a botanical garden. Not just the scent of those scenes, but the feeling. Evokes goddess vibes, like Demeter or Persephone, feminine, floral, and knowing. There is something to be said about perfumes that have some sort of extra interesting aspect to them, whether it be the bottle, the story, the background, etc. This one is definitely a conversation starter: when someone compliments it, you can tell them that it's from the oldest pharmacy in the world, nestled inconspicuously within a row of tightly packed buildings on the street of the lovely Florence, Italy. It is extremely long lasting. It's easy for anyone to wear. And yes, it smells a little like J'adore to me.

Perhaps SMN's Angel of Florence reminds us the classic notes and compositions, yet she possesses an luminous side. Citrus opening, gardenia and fresh violet leaves, tinted with a tamed musk, she's all about air and water. The notes progress quite elegantly, and end clean. She paints a watercolour image of those 'blue hours' by the Arno. Imagery: A gentle smile, a tender caress. She likes to walk in white dress in spring. Echoes of forgotten years and whispers of rains. At times, the elegy does not have to be melancholic, but a kiss in the wind, a prolonged farewell. The Angel has approximately moderate sillage with outstanding longevity for a cologne. A polite conversation for 5 to 6 hours. Pure but not naive, pure yet sophisticated, a flowy fragrance for young artists and dreamers.

This, like the name, is what I imagine the fountains in heaven to smell like; aquatic, fruity, creamy, and light. I've owned a bottle for quite some time and enjoyed it whenever I sprayed this, but I didn't seem to reach out for this somehow. I love fruits, white florals, aquatics, and powdery frags, but somehow all those profiles combined into this didn't reach my expectations. I get peaches, I get melons, I get gardenia, and I get lime, but I also get violet leaves and vetiver which I don't enjoy as much. Very feminine and very elegant yet stays youthful.

Freshie, fruity, aquatic fun. Reminds me somewhat of Bond 9 Astor Place.

For all the notes listed in Angels of Florence, I smell only a few of them: a strong green and ozonic violet leaf, zesty citrus, a watery calone note, crisp vetiver and persistent clean laundry musk. I keep thinking I'm smelling freesia in the mix, but I don't see it listed. The effect is quite lovely and soft. Angels of Florence is member of the clean genre of fragrances which really are not my thing, but if I was going to wear one I suppose this would be it. Aside from the mystery freesia note, the only notable florality was in the opening, but it was rather vague and lasted only a few minutes. Overall, very enjoyable and I highly recommend this for those who love crisp, clean citrus musks.

What a soft, delicate, carefree and innocent scent. Sometimes I think it's more fruity than floral; other times it's distinctly floral and not so fruity. It's a gorgeous bouquet, mostly consisting of white flowers, but I can smell the purple lilac too, which is wonderful. Peach is often too sour for me in perfumery, but here it's more like a sweet white peach. Angels of Florence is fresh, fruity, and youthful. Complex despite its soft sillage (it's a cologne, but it lasts). I can smell gardenia, jasmine, ylang ylang, and lilac distinctly from one another. Like all perfumes by this house, this is casual and easy to wear. Well crafted.

The fresh citrusy floral opening is my favourite part of this perfume. There are a million fruity florals around today, but this is a very light, elegant one. Emphasis on the floral not the fruit. I get some peach, but not a lot of the melon or plum. In saying that however I'm finding it hard to pick out a lot of the notes mentioned on the page. It's a very clever composition. The final musky dry down I'm not as fond of as the opening. It's fine just nothing particularly special. The longevity on this scent is quite good for a cologne though, so I get plenty of that initial scent I like.

I’ve gotten so many complements on this over the years. Not at all avant-garde but it is spirited and charming. Completely effortless on a warm evening (wear your wrap dress and enjoy the sangria!) Maybe she’s basic, or maybe she’s just doing it’s thing without trying too hard. Great origin story. A little fruity, a little floral, a sliver of musk in there just to add a bit of mystery, J’adore is an apt comparison, with Angels being a little less headache inducing but also weaker bodied. Not an every day for me but I’ll always have it on hand for those warm weather non-occasions.

very comfortable scent, is a rich bouquet without being invasive.i like it during spring days when flowers start to bud and their perfume spead trought the air.is ideal for girls and ladies.

Angels of Florence reminds me of ET Diamonds and Sapphires. Why buy this when you can have the same profile for $15? Very melon heavy fruity floral with vetiver. I can also see the J'dore connection as well but J'dore is sharper, this is fruitier. More aquatic. I keep sampling from this line, and I should have just bought the first one I tried The Rosa Gardenia. That is my favorite, it is beautiful and has excellent longevity and throw. At least I got these samples for free. I haven't been overly impressed with anything I've reviewed today. Either the scent profile was too simplistic or too harsh. There wasn't balance like I expect from such a high-end line. The best one is the Rosa Gardenia, but I don't know if I want a bottle now. I'm so disappointed in the line as a whole now.

Thanks to an amazing giveaway by Venus193, I was able to try this beauty. It is a classy, fresh floral that is light and feminine. I can smell the lime at the opening, but that gives way to a perfectly blended Spring bouquet. If I search for the individual flowers I can smell them, and yet none of them overpower the others. I don't sense the melon (which is a good thing for me), but it probably is what helps keep this feeling fresh. Very wearable and probably works best in the Spring or Summer. It reminds me of how I remember Crabtree & Evelyn Spring Rain smelling, only a bit lighter.

Oh how I wash the dry down didn’t become a skin scent! I don’t love the ozonic note, which is what projects here, and though it dissipates in about an hour, what’s left is a gorgeous white flower and vetiver that sits very close to the skin and is all together gone in another 2 hours. I’m always a little disappointed when I wear this, smelling my arm to try to soak in that dry down a little longer.

Too much melon in this for my personal taste; I really am not a fruity scent person. I visited the Santa Maria store in NYC to try this and given the rich history of this house which I love, many of the perfumes have an old-fashioned scent DNA that just isn't what I'd reach for on a daily basis.

not my kind of thing - gardenia cut w lime, so fresh and clean, reminds me of dove body wash.

I really wanted to love this one but there is just a lot going on. The fruity notes are a little much and overpowering for me personally. Something about this scent is... juvenile. Like something elementary school girls would douse themselves in. It's a no from me.

Smells like a tropical car air freshener. It's not for me. Very synthetic fruit and very teenage level sweetness.

This is a really beautiful light summer fragrance. Very juicy and oceanic...like sitting under a colorful umbrella sipping a pulpy iced lemonade on the beach. Nice burst on first spray then dries down to a light sillage and skin scent before evaporating into the afternoon haze. Reminded me of MFK Acqua Universalis - It is a bit less expensive. Doesnt last as long but if that is not a deal breaker for you it's worth a try. Also a great layering scent with a nice white summer floral.

Santa Maria Novella's Barbie juice, this one smacks of the 2000s. I can envision the woman who wears this, a second grade teacher from Arkansas peering through sunglasses the size of saucers as she traipses around in skinny jeans and square-toe sandals. She smells good, but knows nothing about perfume and thinks spending $150 on a bottle of this makes more sense than spending $85 on a bottle of J'Adore.

Angels of Florence is a crisp, aromatic and very green scent. Appealing and reminiscent of a lightly scented baby cologne with superb lasting power of about 8 hours. Vanilla and the gardenia are both nonexistent on my skin, it has more prominent citrus and leafy notes with some fresh floral notes. It's the lovely dewy morning air during springtime.

Someone voted this as being similar to Dior J'adore, can anyone else compare the two? I love J'adore, but it has a plastic/synthetic note on me that I can't tolerate and I'd love to find something similar but without that note.

This fragrance is playful. Gardenia, jasmine and peach are most pervasive notes on opening. Some leafy and green under notes. Takes me back to walking through flower markets in the Spring! Crisp and classy.

Am I crazy, or does the 1221 iteration smell much more plasticky than the original? I have bottles of both and the original is far superior.
