Caprifoglio (Honeysuckle)

sweet in the top with bergamot, some orange blossom/neroli vibe moreso than honeysuckle and then honeysuckle and jasmine with some benzoin

Really photorealistic honeysuckle. Hint of sunscreen and citrus. Really lovely for a sunny day in spring.

This is a very nice perfume and it is a fairly good price for what you get too. It is a very summery daytime fragrance that leans feminine and would be perfect to wear by the beach or to the gym. I didn't get as much honeysuckle in Caprifoglio as I desired though. It definitely had a close to moderate presence in this perfume, but it wasn't a honeysuckle soliflore. The jasmine, orange, lemon and magnolia are much stronger to my nose and I found this too citrusy for my liking. I also didn't like the very strong oakmoss in the drydown. The sweetness from the ylang ylang and the honey was nice and improved things somewhat though. Caprifoglio by Santa Maria Novella had moderate sillage on me and a surprisingly long wear time for a citrusy fragrance of 6 hours. I thought that this fragrance reminded me of a blend of Carat by Cartier and Allure by Chanel. It's the closest to the honeysuckle flowers' scent I've smelt in a fragrance so far, but close but no cigar. This is why I'd give this fragrance a 7 1⁄2 out of 10.

This reminds me of the Bobbi Brown Beach, which I have had for years and I was sort of gobsmacked that it had white floral notes, as does this one. For some reason I don’t find it repulsive on me, perhaps it’s the citrus? It’s a lovely summer daytime scent, it makes me think of sun, sand and bug repellent, in a nostalgic way not a literal way. Beaches and yachting and a delicious pimms cup. Normally white floral notes , particularly gardenia and jasmine , are too overpowering for and on me.

When I first got into fragrances, I tried to find the perfect sunscreen scent, but eventually gave up as nothing was quite capturing that scent I remembered from childhood lake vacations and visits to the pool. Years later, I get Caprifoglio as a free sample with a different SMN fragrance purchase and it turns out to be the exact scent I was looking for back then.

At first blast, I get a not so appealing vintage barbershop vibe, but it soon warms and mellows into deep golden floral loveliness that lasts and lasts- I honestly don't smell honeysuckle, more of a honeyed mimosa (I know, mimosa isn't listed here, but that's what I smell). Definitely my favorite Novella so far...

Starts stemmy, light, and natural. Quickly blossoms into a cool white, then increasingly warmer yellow floral scent. Very pretty and extremely delicate. Plays close to the skin but lingers as it warms. A juicy and warm floral that smells like a honeysuckle tastes - light and sweet.

I agree with ponderbread and sharkwrangler, this is very much a sunscreen scent, but it's like an older sunscreen before coconut became the note people most associated with sun protection. It wasn't what I was expecting however, it is definitely a summer scent.

this is extremely extremely nostalgic. it smells like a pool with honeysuckle growing all around it and everyone is lathered up in sunscreen. unfortunately i think you need to be a 50 year old woman to really rock this

Light, bright, easy, dependable. This summery floral scent does its job without taking itself too seriously. Sunny picnics, sunscreen (in a lovely, non-synthetic way), optimism, and comfort.

Orange flower and honeysuckle. Intoxicating, sweet white floral.

Less a facsimile of honeysuckle, more a deconstruction of this heady, romantic flower that aims to capture its dual narcotic sweetness and green freshness. Caprifoglio opens very bright and citrusy with airy green neroli, orange blossom and lemon, a real summer cocktail, and straight away there's moss keeping it cool in the base. Florals lurk from the outset too, steadily increasing in power. Jasmine, orange flower and nectar, for me a little harsh, buoyed up by the neroli and moss. It then slowly dries down to a pale, floral-lemony light moss. Apply modestly — I find a single spray works best and think it could take a much higher dilution. This is such a happy scent, robustly floral, joyful even. It might not be honeysuckle as you know it but it's an enchanting summer evening scent.

This is more of a mossy magnolia with jasmine and citrus instead of honeysuckle for me. Very mossy. If you like mossy florals check this out

Like sunscreen with a touch more green. Pleasant, but not particularly remarkable.

Clean and natural honeysuckle. The top starts out so orangey that I was sure there was both orange and orange blossom in it. The heart became increasingly focused on honeysuckle, only to dry down into a mossy benzoin base. It's a nice, sweet, spring fragrance. It is like a subdued version of Seville a l'Aube, with its zesty opening and resinous base. I wish this was more of a honeysuckle soliflore, but I do like it. As with all perfumes by Santa Maria Novella, it smells like very fine quality materials, not aromachemicals.

I wrote a review 11 years ago, but I revisited this fragrance again recently. Idk if it has changed or if I have changed, but it opens up smelling like sunscreen with some green stems. It becomes a lot more of a soapy scent, much more like linden blossom than honeysuckle. I don't find any realistic honeysuckle in it at all.

As a honeysuckle enthusiast, Caprifoglio, from one of the oldest pharmacies in the world which uses fragrance recipes of 13th century Dominican friars, is a must! It's a lovely perfume - the honeysuckle is more of a montage of the floral notes instead of a photorealistic flower, but it's so pretty! Oakmoss adds to my personal image with an undercurrent that smells a little bit what I think a monastery does - a dusty, green stony aroma. I'm picturing the medieval monks adding honeysuckle to their starched linens so that they smell a floral benediction. Fresh, light, and appealing!

Wow. This opened with an extremely strong fecal note that I’m not seeing in other reviews. Holy indolics, Batman! It would be a no for me just based on that, but it also settled down into a cloying floral smell I disliked. The opening indolic smell makes me think there’s some heavy jasmine, but honestly I can’t pick out any one flower. The sunscreen smell is a middle note and the only thing I enjoyed about it. I want to like this brand so much (I just love their bottles), but I have yet to find a scent that doesn’t horrify me in some way.

I don't get any honeysuckle from this. Instead, I get full force orange blossom & honey - bizarre, since there are no neroli notes to this whatsoever. Have you ever had oreillette ou griouche? The pastries are dipped in a combination of orange blossom water & honey. This smells exactly like them. Powdery, floral, & sticky sweet. The scent doesn't transform for me whatsoever; griouche from application to drydown. It is a beautiful fragrance. I may pick up a bottle. But, truthfully, I was looking for honeysuckle.

The citrus is very powerful in the opening, then a very rich, full honeysuckle comes in. It's a very true honeysuckle, has that heady almost juicy quality the flower has. Lasts very well and is great for summer! I don't get much of the other florals in the background -- the honeysuckle really takes center stage.

This smells like sunscreen. It’s waxy and mineral-like. It doesn’t smell like honeysuckle to me. I agree that it smells similar to Bobbi Brown Beach which smells like coppertone sunscreen specifically.

just a little hint of honeysuckle, but it smells really good with the carnality and sweetness of ylang-ylang and gardenia, and kind of oakmoss based nuance.

It doesn't make me think of honeysuckle, but it is a deliciously refreshing cologne.
